Objectives : Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is one of the common endocrine diseases in reproductive aged female. According to the classic Korean Medicine book, Lijin-tang could ameliorate the symptoms of PCOS. This study aimed to investigate the effects of Lijin-tang, a Korean Medicine for health insurance, on PCOS using a network pharmacology and animal experiments. Methods : Firstly, network pharmacology analysis was conducted. The target genes of each compound consisting of Lijin-tang such were collected from PubChem database. In addition, the intersecting genes between Lijin-tang-targeted genes and PCOS-related gene set were counted, and analyzed for Functional enrichment. In letrozole-induced PCOS rats, 100, 200 and 400 mg/kg of Lijin-tang were orally administered. Results : Network pharmacology showed that the intersecting genes between Lijin-tang and PCOS were PPARG, CYP19A, INS, IGF-1, LEP, CRP, SLC2A4, critical genes reported to relate with metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance in PCOS. FOXO1 and AMPK signaling pathway were predicted to be potential mechanisms of Lijin-tang on PCOS. Treatment of Lijin-tang recovered the estrous cycle and ameliorated the ovarian morphology such as follicular cyst and surface in letrozole-induced PCOS rats. Moreover, the number of cystic follicles was significantly decreased compared to PCOS disease rats. Conclusions : Taken together, the results indicate that Lijin-tang could be a effective remedy for treating PCOS.

Background: Antiallergic effect of 20(S)-protopanaxatriol (PPT), an intestinal metabolite of ginseng saponins, was investigated in guinea pig lung mast cells and mouse bone marrow-derived mast cells activated by a specific antigen/antibody reaction. Methods: Increasing concentrations of PPT were pretreated 5 min prior to antigen stimulation, and various inflammatory mediator releases and their relevant cellular signaling events were measured in those cells. Results: PPT dose-dependently reduced the release of histamine and leukotrienes in both types of mast cells. Especially, in activated bone marrow-derived mast cells, PPT inhibited the expression of Syk protein, cytokine mRNA, cyclooxygenase-1/2, and phospholipase A2 (PLA2), as well as the activities of various protein kinase C isoforms, mitogen-activated protein kinases, PLA2, and transcription factors (nuclear factor-kB and activator protein-1). Conclusion: PPT reduces the release of inflammatory mediators via inhibiting multiple cellular signaling pathways comprising the Ca2þ influx, protein kinase C, and PLA2, which are propagated by Syk activation upon allergic stimulation of mast cells.

한국독립운동사에서 3.1운동과 대한민국 임시정부 수립은 독립운동을 지속해 나갈 수 있었던 구심점 역할을 수행해 왔다. 이에 3.1운동에 대한 기억, 기념은 3.1운동 1주년이 되는 해부터 시작되어 오늘날까지 다양한 방식으로 재현되었다. 3.1운동 관련 기념 공간 및 기념물은 국내 독립운동 관련 시설 중에서 30% 정도를 차지하고 있다. 3.1운동이 전국적으로 일어난 것처럼 3.1운동 관련 기념 공간 및 기념물은 전국 각지에 분포해 있는데, 이 중에서 3.1운동 기념관은 8개소에 불과하다. 향후 3.1운동 기념관의 건립과 운영이 활발하게 이루어지기 위해서는 운영관리의 안정성과 투명성 보장, 기념관 주체의 공동의식, 기념관 간의 교류와 협력 등이 요구되며, 정부 차원에서 3.1운동 기념식의 전국화와 독립운동가 발굴에 적극적으로 나서야 한다.

This paper examined intra-extra conditions of Korean society changing rapidly and afterward several problems which should be reformed in educational system. Especially this paper examined intra-extra conditions of Korean society in terms of the changes of Korean society which were generated by advanced technology such as internet and new generation formed since 1990s. New generation rising in 1990s had their own life style and values which were clearly different from the existing generation. The spirits of new generation, who saw present society and the existing generation critically, can be summarized as freedom and challenge. They have been changed into leading figures, not only destructing social customs and morals but also making new society and culture on the basis of these. Information-communication technology such as computer, PC communication, internet was laid on the background in which they became leading figures only in ten years since they have risen. Using advanced media freely, they are attaining much information and knowledge. As advanced information-communication technology have spread, knowledge span have been short, information and knowledge have increased explosively, and the mind and behavior have become important that can flexibly cope with situation changes. The bigger the power of cyberspace becomes where the concept of time and space conditioning human being is disappearing, the more the necessity of new mind and behavior such as flexibility and creativity becomes. Generally speaking, young man adapts himself to new changes easily, but the existing generation not well. Likewise the changes of intra-extra conditions around education demand the reformation of educational system. The voices to reform education are high in our society, but the most of these demands don't escape from the viewpoint that regard education as the means of making their way. Without changing this attitude, all reformation can not succeed. We should begin with right recognition to the nature and character of rapidly changing society in order to succeed to educational reformation. The tasks to be reformed in educational system on the basis of the changing social nature are as follows; Firstly, the more schools should be established to develope the greatest autonomy and creativity of individuals. Secondly, the present curriculum operated uniformly should be radically changed into flexible curriculum. Thirdly, the school ladder system consisted of elementary school, middle school, high school should be reformed fundamentally. Fourth, cyber-education should be introduced into school instruction.
