        Extensive injuries of the lower extrimity including bone and soft tissue loss are usually confronted with a difficult reconstructive problem. It is true that various trials have been done to solve this difficult problem but this problem has not been improved satisfactorily by conventional method. In recent, Marked development of microsurgery has made a new field for solving in such a difficult problem.

        골다공증 예방·치료를 위한 운동 및 약물투여의 중요성

        Though skeletal muscle protein makes up more than 60% of whole body protein and protein metabolism in skeletal muscle, which accounts for more than 25% of the whole body protein turnover, it has received relatively little attention in comparison to carbohydrate and fat metabolism in the exercise science field. Among amino acids, the branched-chain amino acids(BCAA) taken up by the muscle, rather than the liver, to contribute to oxidative metabolism during endurance exercise. Moreover, since the oxidation of BCAA in muscles may exceed the catabolic capacity to increase BCAA availability, plasma BCAA levels may decline during endurance exercise. And also, an increase in FFA availability during endurance exercise alter the plasma ratio of free tryptophan to BCAA. It has been hypothesized that and increase in the plasma ratio of free tryptophan to BCAA concentration during endurance exercise is cause of central fatigue due to increased uptake of tryptophan in the brain and increased synthesis of serotonin. Based on these hypothesis, it has been suggested that supplementation of BCAA before endurance exercise may inhibite an increase in the plasma ratio of free tryptophan to BCAA concentration and improve endurance exercise performance. And also, another way to manipulate the plasma concentration of free tryptophan is carbohydrate feedings. However considerable controversy surround the relationship of the supplementation of BCAA and(or) carbohydrate to endurance exercise performance. Future study, therefore, is obviously required to verify the effects of hormones and secondary metabolites on central fatigue and endurance performance after BCAA supplementation. For objective study, more research must be conducted to investigate the effects of amount and time of BCAA supplementation, moreover exercise intensity and duration.

        국민체력 100 프로그램 참여자의 재미요인이 심리적 행복감, 생활만족, 운동지속 의도에 미치는 영향

        The purposes of this study is to establish the foundation of consistently promoting the National Fitness 100 project as a national project by analyzing the effects on the Psychological Happiness, Living Satisfaction, and Continuing Exercise Intention of the Factors of Fun by Participating in the National Fitness 100 Program targeting to U1e 264 of adults participating in the program currently at the comprehensive social welfare center of k city, Gyeonggi-do, which is one of the core fitness management centers in the metropolitan area of the project. We implemented the exploratory factor analysis, Cronbach’s acalculation, frequency analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression for the collected data. The results of this study according to those methods and processes are as below: First, there were significant positive relationships amongst the fun factors, Psychological happiness, living satisfaction, and continuing exercise intention of the participants of the National Fitness 100 Program. Second, sociality, accomplishment, and improving fitness aims which are sub-factors of fun factors gave significant positive effects on fun and confidence which are sub-factors of the Psychological happiness. Third, sociality, accomplishment, and improving fitness aims which are sub-factors of fun factors gave significant positive effects on living satisfaction. Fourth, sociality, accomplishment, and improving fitness aims which are sub-factors of fun factors gave significant positive effects on continuing exercise intention. As the results above, it has been proved that the National Fitness 100 Project which is one of the national projects to improve fitness of the people and their living quality provides fun to the participants. Fun factors of the project have increased fun and confidence of the participants as well as given satisfaction during their daily life. In addition, it is expected that those positive effects of the project will contribute to improve fitness and health of the people by leading them to exercises consistently.

      • 동계 훈련중 태권도 선수의 부상 형태와 원인 분석

        This study is proposed to research all over the injuries which happened to the Taekwondo players during the winter time training to analize the causes of those injuries and to offer the players preventions. In general, it concluded the facts below through questionairing of 272 male players : 1. This study showed that 91% of the players had an injury during the winter training, especially they were injured on the limb, the ankle(41%), and the kneecap(37.%1) with high percentage. 2. Most injured players had were related to previous injuries(75.4%) and mostly occured to the players with 5-6 years career. 3. This study referred that the bruise(50.7%), the inflammation(19.1%) and the kneepan injury(11.0%) are highly possible positions of injuries. 4. This study referred injuries might decrease the players' ability, based on the fact that 26.8% of the players answered very borthering and 53.3% answered borthering. 5. 37.1% of the players answered ice formentation and massage for curing. 79.8% answered protectors for preventing injuries with other method followed. 6. 86.8% of the players started training before the injuries were cured completely and one week was the usual convalescence followed by two weeks and three weeks. 7. The protectors seemed to be helpful in general, 65.1% answered. They are helpful, 32.7% answered. They are not very helpful, and 2.2% answered. They are not.

        Anticancer resistance is one of the major problems in the clinical cancer chemotherapy. Of resistance mechanisms are ATP (ATP-binding cassette) transporters including P-glycoprotein. In this paper, ABC transporters with respect to the physiological functions and multidrug resistance mechanisms as well as the development of chemosensitizers for their reversal have been reviewed.

      • 생쥐 안구에서 산화적 손상에 의한 superoxide dismutases와 metallothionein의 나이에 따른 유도의 차이

        The basal levels and inducibility of superoxide dismutases (SODs; Mn-SOD and Cu/Zn-SOD) and metallothionein (MT) was investigated in the eyes of mice with age. Oxidative stress was induced by paraquat, an intracellular superoxide generator, in 1, 4, 8, and 12 months of age and then mRl\As of SODs and MT in the eyes were determined by RT-PCR assay. The basal level of Mn-SOD mRNA increased from 1 month to 8 months but decreased thereafter. Mn-SOD mRNA was induced by paraquat until 4 month but not after 8 months. On the other hand, the basal level of Cu/Zn-SOD mRNA decreased with age. Cu/Zn-SOD mRNA was not induced by paraquat until 4 months. The basal level of MT mRNA declined with age whereas its inducibility by paraquat was intact at all ages. Taken together, the results indicate that SODs and MT are differentially expressed and induced according to the age. It could be also implicated that failure in induction of Mn-SOD with age may be one of causative factors in the aging process whereas induction of Cu/Zn-SOD and MT may be one of important factors in defense against oxidative stress in the eyes. 서론: 최근 노화는 반응성 산소종에 의한 산화적 손상의 축적결과라는 설이 각광을 받고 있다. 노화과정에서 노화와 관련된 질병을 비교적 잘 나타내는 안구를 선정하고, 정상생쥐의 안구에서의 superoxide dismutases (SODs) 와 metallothionein (MT) 의 함량 뿐 아니라 산화성 스트레스를 유발하는 paraquat에 의한 SODs와 MT의 유도능과 나이와의 상호관계를 조사하여 이들의 노화과정에서의 역할을 규명하고자 하였다. 재료 및 방법 : 본 연구에서 1, 4, 8, 12개월된 정상생쥐의 안구에서 반응성 산소종 생성의 초기에 중요한 방어기전인 SODs mRNA와 hydroxy radical (OH·)에 의한 산화적 손상의 마지막 방어기전인 MT mRNA의 함량과 산화성 스트레스를 유발하는 paraquat에 의한 유도능을 역전사 중합효소 연쇄반응 (RT-PCR) 으로 조사하였다. 결과: 정상생쥐의 안구의 노화과정에서 Mn-SOD와 Cu/Zn-SOD, 그리고 MT mRNA의 항정상태 함량을 조사한 결과, Mn-SOD mRNA는 8개월까지는 증가하다가 12개월에서 감소하였으나, Cu/Zn-SOD mRNA는 나이와 함께 감소하였다. 그러나 MT mRNA 는 8개월까지는 감소하다가 12개월에서 약간 증가하였다. 산화성 스트레스를 유발하는 parraquat에 의하여 Mn-SOD mRNA는 1개월과 4개월에서만 유도되었고, Cu/Zn-SOD mRNA는 8개월과 12개월에서만 유도되었으며, MT mRNA는 관찰한 전 기간에서 유도되었다. 결론: 이상의 결과를 종합하면 SODs와 MT는 안구에서 나이에 따라 서로 다르게 발현되고 유도되는 것으로 생각되며, 노화과정에서 Mn-SOD유도의 이상이 노화의 원인이 되는 인자로 작용하고, 반면에 Cu/Zn-SOD와 MT의 정상적인 유도능이 산화적 스트레스에 대하여 방어역할을 하는 것으로 생각된다. 이와 같이 연령이 증가함에 따라 Mn-SOD, Cu-Zn-SOD, 및 MT의 발현과 유도능의 차이가 있게 되고, 그 결과 반응성 산소종에 의한 산화적 손상의 정도의 차이로 노화의 속도가 조절되지 않나 생각된다.

      • 비·부비동 종양의 신생혈관 형성에서 COX-2 및 VEGF의 역할

        Background and Objectives : COX-2, the inducible form of cyclooxygenase(COX), is upregulated in transformed cells and in malignant cells, which have important roles in promotion of colorectal carcinogenesis, invasiveness and angiogenesis. Vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) may act as endothelial cell mitogen in various cancer tissues. It will increase tumor growth and angiogenesis. Aims of this study were to asses COX-2/VEGF expression and it's clinical correlation in sinonasal tumors and to investigate the effects on angiogenesis also. Materials and Method : The study samples were obtained from surgical removal of 27 cases of inverted papilloma(IPs), 5 cases of IP with malignant transformation(IP-MT), 16 cases of Squamous cell carcinoma(SCC) in sinonasal cavity COX-2 and VEGF expressions were assessed by immunohistochemical staining. Synchronism of COX-2/VEGF expression in one tumor cell was demonstrated with double immunofluorescence technique. Results : The expression rates of COX-2 were 37% in IP, 80% in IP-MT and 100% in SCC. The positive rates of VEGF were 29 6% in IP, 100% in IP-MT and SCC. COX-2 and VEGF expressions were increased as tumor progressed, and there is a positive correlation between COX-2 &EGF expressions. All clinical features which were compared are not associated with COX-2 &EGF expressions except malignant change in IP(p=0 028). Synchronism of COX-2/VEGF expressions was noted in all positive immunostaining samples. Conclusion : These findings suggest the role of COX-2 pathway could be involved in sinonasal tumor angiogenesis, which is modulated by VEGF COX-2 may act as autocrine factor in VEGF expression. There is a potential role for selective COX-2 inhibitors in the treatment of these lesions.
