The present study examined whether Kang's (1999) model of the relationships among language learning strategy use and language proficiency for the Asian students could be applied to a more heterogeneous group. In Kang's study, he collected information of language learning strategies of 957 foreign students learning English as a second language in American colleges through a questionnaire. He also measured the subjects' language proficiency with the Institutional Testing Program TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). This study analyzed the same data without the limitation of cultural identity. Structural equation modeling was used to model the relationships among strategy use and language proficiency. Then, the model of the present study was descriptively compared with Kang's (1999) model for the Asian students. The overall flow of the relationship paths appeared to vary very little across the two models, which would have indicated that the generalizability of Kang's (1999) model could be extended more than originally examined. High frequency dielectric ceramics have potential for applications in mobile and satellite communications systems at frequencies higher than 10GHz. The Ba$(Zn_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})O_3$ ceramics are known to have a high quality factor, a small temperature coefficient of the resonance frequency and a high dielectric constant. On the other hands, sintering at high temperature for extended time is required to obtain the ordered structure for high quality factor. In this study, the microwave dielectric properties of $ZrO_2$ and NiO-added Ba$(Zn_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})O_3$ ceramics prepared by solid-state reaction have been investigated. Adding $ZrO_2$ and NiO could effectively promote the densification even the case of decreasing the sintering time. At the surface of samples, secondary phase of Ba-Ta compounds was formed possibly due to the evaporation of ZnO, however, the interior of the samples remained as pure Ba$(Zn_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})O_3$. The samples sintered at $1600^{\circ}C$ for 2h exhibited 1:2 ordering of Zn and Ta cations. Excellent microwave dielectric properties of $Q{\cdot}f$(>96,000 GHz) and ${\varepsilon}_r$=30 has been obtained.
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to examine the safety of Korean medicine treatment in patients vaccinated with the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine (ChAdOx1 nCoV-19/AZD1222). Methods: We investigated patients at Kyung Hee University Korean Medicine Hospital who were vaccinated with the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine between June 1, 2021 and June 30, 2021. The safety of Korean medicine treatment was evaluated by examining adverse events that occurred within seven days of vaccination, including liver function and kidney function testing, assessment of the severity of adverse events, and examination of causality to vaccines and Korean medicine treatment. Results: Eleven patients vaccinated with the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine were included. A total of 19 adverse events were reported: 15 systemic adverse events, three local adverse events, and one alanine aminotransferase increase. The most commonly reported systemic adverse events were fatigue (4 cases, 36.4%), headache (4 cases, 36.4%), and myalgia (4 cases, 36.4%). All adverse events were rated below moderate (grade 2) in severity. Systemic and local adverse events were evaluated as definitely related to vaccination and unlikely to be related to Korean medicine treatment, while alanine aminotransferase increase was evaluated as unlikely to be related to either the vaccine or Korean medicine treatment. Aspartate transaminase, Blood urea nitrogen, and creatinine were measured within the reference range after vaccination. Conclusion: Our results suggest that the severity and frequency of adverse events in patients vaccinated with the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine did not increase after Korean medicine treatment.
Discontinuous Galerkin 방법을 이용한 비정렬 격자계의 유동 소음해석
강성우(Sungwoo Kang),유정열(Jung Yul Yoo) 대한기계학회 2006 대한기계학회 춘추학술대회 Vol.2006 No.11
Discontinuous Galerkin method (DG) is a hybrid of finite element method and finite volume method, which uses polynomials to approximate solutions within elements and incorporates approximate Riemann solver between neighboring elements to reflect wave propagation. We use DG to solve compressible unsteady Navier-Stokes equation for the problems of noise generation from fluid flow. To obtain high-order accurate solution for aeroacoustics, high-order polynomials are used for DG spatial discretization with explicit Runge-Kutta method. This method is applied to aeroacoustics of flow around sphere and grazing flow over cavity. Test cases are solved on unstructured mesh.

The aim of this study was to examine the effects of remedial instruction on self-efficacy improvement in elementary school students with low self-efficacy, which may have been formed through negative experience with learning such as poor performance and poor grades. Nine 6th grade students with low self-efficacy were selected for the present study. A remedial class was set up and instruction was given once a week for 14 weeks. The purpose of the remedial class was to give the students a positive experience with English learning and have students reflect on their achievement. The contents and class activities were adjusted to the subjects' English abilities and also closely related to those of the regular classes so that students could have more confidence during regular English classes. The data were collected from a test of self-efficacy in English learning, achievement tests given before and after the experiment, achievement tests after each lesson, a general self-efficacy test, a basic questionnaire, interviews, journals, and students' self-evaluation. The results showed that the remedial instruction was very successful in providing students with a sense of achievement and improving students' self-efficacy in English learning. However, this study failed to find significant improvement in general self-efficacy tests and achievement tests given before and after the experiments. A longer period of remedial instruction may have been necessary to obtain more concrete results from the variety of data collected.

The purpose of this study was to identify difference of postural stability and gait by obesity level in the elderly. Total 120 elderly people with over 65 years were participated in this study and allocated to normal group (>25kg/m²) and overweight group (<25kg/m²). A subject who has the history of cardiovascular and musculoskeletal diseases or lower limb injury in 6 months before test was excluded from the study. Postural stability and gait were measured by HUR BT4 and Gait Rite. Independent t-test was used to analyze difference between the2 groups. Significant level was a=.05. In eye-opened postural stability, Overweight group had increased C90are a (p<.01) and longer Trace length (p<.05) compared to normal weight group. C90 area of eye-closed test was more increased in overweight group (p<.05). For gait, stride length (p<.01), single support phase (p<.05), double support phase (p<.001) in overweight group were significantly lower than in normal weight group. This study has concluded that the elderly with overweight could have reduced postural stability and gait function compared to older people with normal weight. So the elderly with overweight or high BMI may be challenged with control of postural stability and gait
