Stevens-Johnson syndrome is an acute mucocutaneous syndrome that is related to drugs and infections. Mycoplasma pneumonias infection is known as one of the causes of Stevens-Johnson syndrome in children and young adults, In Korea, Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection is rarely reported as a cause of Stevens-Johnson syndrome in adults. We report a case of Stevens-Johnson syndrome associated with Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia in an adult patient. A 34-years old woman was admitted to our hospital and was diagnosed with mycoplasma pneumonia. At the time of admission, she had hemorrhagic crusts on her lips. On the 2nd day of admission, target lesions also developed on her skin. We diagnosed her disease as Stevens-Johnson syndrome associated with Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia. She completely recovered from pneumonia and Stevens-Johnson syndrome after treatment with antibiotics and conservative management.

Streptococcus anginosus is a normal flora found in multiple body sites and belongs to the Streptococcus milleri group, It has often been associated with pyogenic infection, such as periodontitis, endocarditis, pulmonary abscess and abdominal or cerebral abscess. Also uncommonly, it can cause osteomyelitis. A 42-year-o1d man was admitted due to gastric ulcer perforation. At 12th hospital day, left humeral osteomyelitis and soft tissue abscess developed, Streptococcus anginosus grew in blood culture, He was treated with intravenous penicillin and surgical debridement of the necrotic tissue which lead to a satisfactory result. We report a rare case of Streptococcus anginosus-induced humeral osteomyelitis and soft tissue abscess.

We experienced a case of acute pyelonephritis which progressed to Escherichia coli bacteremia and later complicated by empyema in a 65-year-old female. She was successfully treated with intravenous antibiotic therapy and percutaneous drainage of empyema.

<P>Porous and spherical Li<SUB>2</SUB>MnSiO<SUB>4</SUB> nanoparticles have been synthesized through a facile sol–gel route <I>via</I> a mesoporous silica template. Galvanostatic charge–discharge of the resultant Li<SUB>2</SUB>MnSiO<SUB>4</SUB> cathode exhibits enhanced charge–discharge capacity relative to that of particles prepared by the conventional sol–gel process, up to 25% in discharge capacity, even without any particulate process such as milling with conductive agents. Functional role of TFG in collagen synthesis in human dermal fibroblast

Background: TFG encodes a protein which is a conserved regulator of protein secretion and controls the export of materials from the endoplasmic reticulum. There is no paper about functional role of TFG in skin except TFG works as a tumor suppressor gene in metastatic melanoma. Objectives: We investigated the use of genome-wide association study (GWAS) to explore molecular basis of skin phenotype of wrinkle and the effect of TFG on collagen and matrix metalloproteinase expression in human dermal fibroblasts. Methods: A GWAS was conducted to investigate the genetic factors influencing wrinkle formation in Korean females along with molecular studies of genes in human dermal fibroblasts for functional study in vitro.Results: GWAS identified 24 SNPs that were highly associated with skin wrinkle. Among the genes, we investigated the effect of TFG gene in human dermal fibroblasts. When TFG was overexpressed, COL1A1 and COL1A2 protein level were increased and UVB decreased the expression of COL1A1, COL1A2 and TFG. Conclusion: The results suggest that TFG is a positive regulator on collagen expression in dermal fibroblasts. And our results suggest that genetic variants in the intronic region of TFG could be determinants in the wrinkle formation of Korean females.
