The purpose of this paper is to make an attempt in this investigation to determine normal adult values of arterial blood gas and acid-base balance in 53 healthy Korean male and female subjects of varying age and then compare with the data obtained by others. Determinations of the acid-base status of the arterial blood were performed at 37℃ by the Astrup method using a radiometer instruments, consisted of BGA2A/3-MK 2 system. The mean and standard errors of each component were as follows: pH 7.42±0.043, oxygen saturation 96.96±0.089%, pO?? 97.66±0.91mmHg, pCO?? 37.08±0.68mmHg, CO?? content 24.29±0.43mM/L, bicarbonate 23.26±0.68mM/L, buffer base 46.56±0.66mEg/L, and base excess -0.024±0.001mEg/S. Compared with normal adult values in literatures, all the components of the data appear to be in the same range without any significant difference.
전기충격요법후 혈중 Prolactin에 대한 Methysergide의 영향

Recently it has been shown in numerous experimental studies that a series of electroconvulsive therapy(ECT) affects neurohormonal function in man, though its mechanism was yet unknown. To investigate effects of methysergide on serum prolactin response after ECT, the authors studied the change of the serum levels of prolactin before ECT(the day before ECT) and after ECT, with and without methysergide pretreatment by RIA method in 11 psychiatric patients. ECT was given with the electrodes placed in the bitemporal position using a pulse current delivering device(Thymatron). The results were as follows; 1) Compared with the day before ECT, serum prolactin levels were increased significantly at 15, 30, 60 minutes after ECT(P〈0.01). 2) Compared with ECT alone, serum prolactin levels were attenuated significantly at 15,30,60 minutes after ECT with methyserigide(P〈0.05. P〈0.01). Hormonal responses of this study in terms of the knowledge availakle on the neurotransmitter control of prolactin release suggests that the responses of prolactin to ECT may be mediated by the activation of serotonergic system in central nervous system.

By impproving the educational program of the Department of Architectural Engineering and studying the theory of learning and the applied method necessary for the development of nation and society, we should develop a satisfying course of education to meet the demand and skill in the industralized society for the purpose of cultivating men of baility with great personalities and creative minds. Therefore, this study focused on classifying several kinds of occupations in the prart of architectured related to what graduates from the department of Architectural Engineering go with into the society. Accordingly after choosing some works adequate to each occupation by the proposed curricula, we tried to establish the scope of education and courses corresponding to the jobs and thus and develop a satisfying curriculum.

Background : Microvascular angina or syndrom X is heterogenous and encompasses different pathogenetic entities. Several studies suggest that microvascular angina have good prognosis and occurs predominantly in postmenopausal women. Lipoprotein (a), total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, homocystein, CRP and fibrinogen are the independent risk factor of acute coronary syndrome and are the chief underlying cause of atherosclerosis. We investigated clinical characteristics and markers in patients with microvascular angina. Methods : We studies 23 patients diagnosed with microvascular angina and 16 control group with negative treadmill exercise test and no significant coronary angiogram. We investigated clinical characteristics in patients group and evaluated symptom during a follow-up period of 4.2± 2.5 month. Exercise time in treadmill exercise test was compared between patients and control group. We assessed the level of markers, such as lipoprotein (a), total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, homocystein, CRP and ESR in two groups. Results : There is no difference in age between two groups. Patients group had a tendency to increase in female, hypertension, DM, and smoking history, but there was no statistical significance difference. Exercise duration time was significantly decreased in patients with microvascular angina (p<0,05). Serum lipoprotein (a), total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholestrol, Triglyceride, ESR, Fibrinogen and Homocystein value were no significant difference between microvascular angina and control group. Only CRP was significantly high in patients with microvascular angina (p<0.05). Conclusion : There was no statistical significance difference in age, sex, hypertension, DM and smoking history between two groups but patients group had a tendency to increase the prevalence in hypertension, DM and smoking history, female. Also, Symptom improvement and disappearance in follow-up was presented in 11 patients of 19(57.9%). Exercise tolerance was worse in patients group than control group. CRP value was significantly higher in patients group than control group. There was no statistical significance difference in lipoprotein (a), total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, homocystein, ESR and Fibrinogen between two groups.

Diagnostic Usefulness of the Janus Kinase 2 Mutation in non BCR/ABL Myeloproliferative Disorders

Background: We investigated the Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) mutation and its diagnostic value in patients suffering with non BCR/ABL myeloproliferative diseases (nMPD) or other reactive conditions. Methods: We reviewed the clinical records of 83 patients who underwent bone marrow (BM) examinations with suspect of nMPD. The diagnoses of nMPD were made based on the WHO criteria since 2001 and the PVSG criteria before 2001. The JAK2 mutation was examined by PCR in 54 patients whose BM samples were available. Results: The JAK2 mutation was detected in 25 patients (46%); 12 of 26 patients with essential thrombocythemia (ET), 9 of 12 patients with polycyhtemia vera (PV), one of 7 patients with chronic idiopathic myelofibrosis (CIM) and one patient with unclassifiable MPD. Additionally, JAK2 mutation was detected in each one patient with secondary polycythemia and reactive thrombocytosis. These two patients and two other patients among the JAK2 mutated ET did not meet the WHO PV criteria due to their initial low hemoglobin levels. These patients had liver cirrhosis and hypersplenism due to Budd-Chiari syndrome (1), gastrointestinal bleeding (1) or the initial hemoglobin level was slightly below the level as provided by the criteria, but the level showed a rising pattern despite cytoreductive therapy (2). With the results of the JAK2 mutation available, 4 patients` disease could be re-diagnosed as PV. Finally, the positive rate of the JAK2 mutation was 81% in PV, 48% in ET and 14% in CIM. The presence of JAK2 mutation closely correlated with PV (p=0.001), leukocytosis (p=0.001) and an increased cellularity of BM (p=0.024). Conclusions: The JAK2 mutation may help differentiate nMPD from secondary cytosis. Therefore, it should be incorporated into the guidelines for the nMPD work-up for making a more accurate diagnosis and administering proper treatment.
