Purpose: Previous studies have reported that action observation training has beneficial effects on enhancing the motor task, such as bal-ance and gait functions. On the other hand, there have been few studies combined with action observation training and auditory feedback. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of action observation training with auditory feed-back on the gait function in stroke patients with hemiparesis Methods: A total of 24 inpatients with post-stroke hemiparesis were assigned randomly to either an experimental group 1 (EG 1, n=8), experiment group 2 (EG 2, n=8), control group (CG, n=8, EG 1). The EG 2 and CG watched video clip demonstrating three functional walking tasks with auditory feedback, without auditory feedback, and showing a landscape image, respectively. The exercise program consisted of 30 minutes, five times a week, for four weeks. The participants were measured to 10MWT (10 m walk test), 6MWT (6 min-utes walking distance test), TUG (timed up and go test), DGI (dynamic gait index), time and steps of F8WT (figure-of-8 walk test). Results: In the intra-group comparison after the intervention, EG 1 and EG 2 showed a significantly different gait function (10MWT, 6MWT, DGI, TUG, F8WT) (p<0.05). In the inter-group comparison after intervention, EG 1 showed significant improvements in the entire gait parameters and EG 2 only showed significant improvement in DGI and TUG compared to CG (p<0.05). Conclusion: These findings show that action observation training with auditory feedback may be used beneficially for improving the gait function of stroke patients with hemiparesis.

In the study we measured and evaluated the acoustical property of a domestic spark gap type extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL). Altering the discharging medium between the electrodes of the shock wave generator (water, 1% an 10% NaCl electrolyte), we measured shock waveforms and sound pressure level (SPL). For the shock waves produced using the discharging medium, water, it was seen that the shock wave peak pressure went up to 70 MPa, and the SPL was in the range of 90 - 100 dB. As the concentration of NaCl increased in the electrolyte. the SPL did not change much and was shown to increase correlation with the discharging voltage. In the case of the discharging medium. 10% NaCl electrolyte, it was found that the shock amplitudes varied in a narrow range when being high in the concentration of NaCl and were large when being high in discharging voltages. While the stone fragmentation was in process, we measured the acoustic emission and compared their spectral properties.

Background and Purposes: Over the past three decades, numerous studies performed in Korea have reported that job stress is a determinant risk factor for chronic diseases and work disability. Every society has its own culture and occupational climate particular to their organizations, and hence experiences different occupational stress. An occupational stress measurement tool therefore needs to be developed to estimate it objectively. The purpose of this study is to develop and standardize the Korean Occupational Stress Scale (KOSS) which is considered to be unique and specific occupational stressors in Korean employees. Subjects and Methods: Data were obtained from the National Study for Development and Standardization of Occupational Stress (NSDSOS Project: 2002-2004). A total of 12,631 employees from a nationwide sample proportional to the Korean Standard Industrial Classification and the Korean Standard Occupational Classification were administered. The KOSS was developed for 2 years (2002-2004). In the first year, we collected 255 items from the most popular job stress measurement tools such as JCQ, ERI, NIOSH and OSI, and 44 items derived from the a qualitative study (depth interview). Forty-three items of KOSS, in the second year, were retained for use in the final version of the KOSS by using Delphi and factor analysis. Items were scored using conventional 1-2-3-4 Likert scores for the response categories. Results: We developed eight subscales by using factor analysis and validation process: physical environment (3 items), job demand (8 items), insufficient job control (5 items), interpersonal conflict (4 items), job insecurity (6 items), organizational system (7 items), lack of reward (6 items), and occupational climate (4 items). Together they explained 50.0% of total variance. Internal consistency alpha scores were ranged from 0.51 to 0.82. Twenty-four items of the short form of the KOSS (KOSS-SF) were also developed to estimate job stress in the work setting. Because the levels of the subscales of occupational stress were gender dependent, gender-specific standard norms for both the 43-item full version and the 24-item short form using a quartile for the subscales of KOSS were presented. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that KOSS might be an appropriate measurement scale to estimate occupational stress of Korean employees. Further and more detailed study needs to be conducted to improve the validity of this scale.
An Analog Front-end Amplifier with Seamless Discrete Time-gain Compensation for Ultrasound Scanner

This paper proposes an analog front-end (AFE) amplifier with seamless discrete time-gain compensation (TGC) for ultrasound scanners. The AFE amplifier consists of a preamplifier and a programmable gain amplifier (PGA). A real-time TGC operation is typically accomplished with gradual gain increments in PGA. To achieve a seamless gain transition in PGA, this work proposes a preset switching scheme for an initialization of operating points in PGA. In addition, current-reuse operational amplifiers with dynamic push-pull current sources are deployed in the AFE amplifier to further enhance a transient response. The proposed AFE implemented in a 180-nm BCD process occupies 0.19 mm2, and consumes 2.3 mW. The AFE achieves a gain range from 34.3 dB to 50.5 dB with four gain steps, and a transient interval less than 18 ns during a gain transition.

Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVD) is one of the important causes of low back pain and is associated with inflammation induced by interaction between macrophages and the human annulus fibrosus (AF) cells. Low level light therapy (LLLT) has been widely known to regulate inflammatory reaction. However, the effect of LLLT on macrophage-mediated inflammation in the AF cells has not been studied till date. The aim of this study is to mimic the inflammatory microenvironment and to investigate the anti-inflammatory effect of LLLT at a range of wavelengths (405, 532 and 650 nm) on the AF treated with macrophage-like THP-1 cells conditioned medium (MCM) containing proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines (interleukin-1beta, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, interleukin-6 and 8). We observed that AF cells exposed to MCM secrete significantly higher concentrations of IL-6, IL-8, IL-1b and TNF-a. LLLT markedly inhibited secretion of IL-6 at 405 nm in a time-dependent manner. Level of IL-8 was significantly decreased at all wavelengths in a time-dependent manner. We showed that MCM can induce the inflammatory microenvironment in AF cells and LLLT selectively suppressed IL-6 and 8 levels. The results indicate that LLLT is a potential method of IVD treatment and provide insights into further investigation of its antiinflammation effect on IVD.
Detection of Cancer-derived Exosome Using Aptamer-PDA Liposomes

Exosomes are extracellular vesicles (EVs) with sizes of about 30-150 ㎚ and have important biological roles in intercellular communication and transportation of various bio㏖ecules, including proteins and genetic materials. These exosomes have received much attention as a promising biomarker for the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases such as diabetic cardiomyopathy and cancer. However, it remains an important challenge to detect quickly and precisely exosomes from various body fluids. Therefore, in order to detect separated exosomes, we fabricated a liposomal biosensor based on polydiacetylene (PDA) with unique optical properties. PDA is an attractive polymer material that exhibits colorimetric and fluorescent transitions in response to external stimuli such as temperature, pH, and chemical substances. Since PDA exhibits unique optical properties by biological recognition events, an aptamer-conjugated PDA liposome (Apt-PDA) is developed to target EpCAM (Epithelial Cell Adhesion molecule) overexpressed on the surface of cancer-derived exosome. We successfully confirmed that the isolated exosomes were detected through the red fluorescence of PDA. Hence, our anti-EpCAM Apt-PDA provides a compelling solution for detection of exosomes.

Nikel titanium shape memory alloys (NiTi) are promising materials due to their shape memory effect. The disadvantage of the nickel is the toxicity, there are too many restrictions on the use of the human body. Hence, if the proper surface modification is chosen, the surface of NiTi can be tranquilized and smooth. Also, toxic chemicals can be protected by oxide film. The polishing method we have used is electro-polishing which is simple enough, economical and can handle wide range at once. In this study, we are surface modification NiTi by surface electro-polishing. The polishing method we have used is electro-polishing which is simple enough, economical and can handle wide range at once. We have used AFM(atomic force microscopy), SEM(scanning electron microscopy), OM(optical microscope) to analyze the roughness, and formation of surface of NiTi stent. To measure corrosion resistance, steady potentiostat was used to corrosion test. Our study group have concluded that condition of 40V 10seconds of electro-polishing showed the optimal stabilization of the surface.
