        Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.

        이동형 스크러버를 이용한 암모니아 및 톨루엔의 제거 효율

        본 연구는 국내에서 다량 취급되고 있는 암모니아 및 톨루엔을 흄 상태로 노출시킨 후 흡수/흡착방법을 달리한 이동형 스크러버를 이용해 각 유해화학물질의 제거효율을 비교 분석하였다. 이동형 스크러버는 기 개발된 장치를 개선하여 와류세정에 의한 흡수, 유입풍속 조절의 장점을 살리고, 활성탄 및 카본필터를 통한 기체상 유해화학물질의 흡착방법 도입을 통해 단점을 보완하였다. 개선된 장치는 기초성능평가를 통해 적정 제어풍속이 검증되었고, 5% 암모니아수 용액을 흄 상태로 노출시켜 후드 흡입부, 송풍기 배출부 및 세정기가 정상 작동함을 확인하였다. 흡수/흡착방법에 따른 암모니아 제거효율은 90분 경과 후 C≥PCA>SWA 순으로 가장 우수한 SWA 군의 노출 농도별 제거 효율은 시간이 경과할수록 노출 농도와 무관하게 배출 농도는 증가되었고, 세정액의 pH는 산성에서 염기성으로 변화되었다. 또한, 시간 경과에 따른 노출 농도 별 세정액의 pH 변화와 배출구 농도 변화 사이에 0.9429~0.9491 수준의 정의 상관관계를 나타내었다. 흡착방법에 따른 톨루엔의 제거 효율은 초기 10분 경과 후 배출구농도에서 C>CMA≥GCA 순을 나타내다 90분 경과까지 일정한 농도로 유지되었다. 가장 우수한 GCA 군의 노출 농도 별 제거 효율은 초기 10분 경과 시 노출 농도에 비례하여 배출 농도가 높은 경향이었다. 이와 같은 결과를 통해 개선된 이동형 스크러버는 중화반응에 의해 산성 또는 염기성 유해화학물질의 제거뿐 아니라, 활성탄 등의 흡착기능 개선을 통해 VOCs 제거에도 효과적이었다. 하지만, 실제 현장에서 활용이 가능하도록 세정액 pH를 지속적으로 유지하여 연속적으로 흡수 제거할 수 있는 방법과 노출되는 화학물질 농도와 흡착제의 관계에서 파괴점, 포화점, 흡착속도 등의 물리적인 요소가 추가적인 연구를 통해 도출되어야 할 것이다. BACKGROUND: The mobile vortex wet scrubber was developed to remove the harmful chemicals from accidental releases. However, there was a disadvantage that it was limitedly used for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as toluene according to the physicochemical properties. This study compared the removal efficiencies of an improved mobile scrubber on toluene and ammonia by applying diverse adsorption and absorption methods. METHODS AND RESULTS: The removal efficiencies on harmful chemicals were examined using various adsorption and absorption methods of water vortex process (C), phosphoric acid-impregnated activated carbon adsorption (PCA), pH-controlled water (pH 2.5) vortex process absorption with sulfuric acid (SWA) after ammonia exposure, granular activated carbon adsorption (GCA), and activated carbon mat adsorption (CMA) after toluene exposure. As a result, the best removal efficiency was shown in the SWA for ammonia and GCA for toluene. Also, the SWA and GCA methods were compared with different concentration levels. In the case of ammonia exposure (5, 10 and 25%), there was no difference by concentration levels, and the concentration in the outlet gradually increased, with pH change from acid to base. In the case of toluene exposure (50, 75 and 100%), the outlet concentration was higher relative to the exposure concentration in the initial 10 min, but the outlet concentration was remained steady after 10 min. CONCLUSION: The newly improved mobile scrubber was also effective in removing VOCs through adsorption techniques (activated carbon, activated carbon fiber, carbon mat filter etc.), as well as removing acid-base harmful chemicals by neutralization reaction.

        한국인 직무 스트레스 측정도구의 개발 및 표준화

        Background and Purposes: Over the past three decades, numerous studies performed in Korea have reported that job stress is a determinant risk factor for chronic diseases and work disability. Every society has its own culture and occupational climate particular to their organizations, and hence experiences different occupational stress. An occupational stress measurement tool therefore needs to be developed to estimate it objectively. The purpose of this study is to develop and standardize the Korean Occupational Stress Scale (KOSS) which is considered to be unique and specific occupational stressors in Korean employees. Subjects and Methods: Data were obtained from the National Study for Development and Standardization of Occupational Stress (NSDSOS Project: 2002-2004). A total of 12,631 employees from a nationwide sample proportional to the Korean Standard Industrial Classification and the Korean Standard Occupational Classification were administered. The KOSS was developed for 2 years (2002-2004). In the first year, we collected 255 items from the most popular job stress measurement tools such as JCQ, ERI, NIOSH and OSI, and 44 items derived from the a qualitative study (depth interview). Forty-three items of KOSS, in the second year, were retained for use in the final version of the KOSS by using Delphi and factor analysis. Items were scored using conventional 1-2-3-4 Likert scores for the response categories. Results: We developed eight subscales by using factor analysis and validation process: physical environment (3 items), job demand (8 items), insufficient job control (5 items), interpersonal conflict (4 items), job insecurity (6 items), organizational system (7 items), lack of reward (6 items), and occupational climate (4 items). Together they explained 50.0% of total variance. Internal consistency alpha scores were ranged from 0.51 to 0.82. Twenty-four items of the short form of the KOSS (KOSS-SF) were also developed to estimate job stress in the work setting. Because the levels of the subscales of occupational stress were gender dependent, gender-specific standard norms for both the 43-item full version and the 24-item short form using a quartile for the subscales of KOSS were presented. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that KOSS might be an appropriate measurement scale to estimate occupational stress of Korean employees. Further and more detailed study needs to be conducted to improve the validity of this scale.

        Effect of Action Observation Training with Auditory Feedback for Gait Function of Stroke Patients with Hemiparesis

        Purpose: Previous studies have reported that action observation training has beneficial effects on enhancing the motor task, such as bal-ance and gait functions. On the other hand, there have been few studies combined with action observation training and auditory feedback. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of action observation training with auditory feed-back on the gait function in stroke patients with hemiparesis Methods: A total of 24 inpatients with post-stroke hemiparesis were assigned randomly to either an experimental group 1 (EG 1, n=8), experiment group 2 (EG 2, n=8), control group (CG, n=8, EG 1). The EG 2 and CG watched video clip demonstrating three functional walking tasks with auditory feedback, without auditory feedback, and showing a landscape image, respectively. The exercise program consisted of 30 minutes, five times a week, for four weeks. The participants were measured to 10MWT (10 m walk test), 6MWT (6 min-utes walking distance test), TUG (timed up and go test), DGI (dynamic gait index), time and steps of F8WT (figure-of-8 walk test). Results: In the intra-group comparison after the intervention, EG 1 and EG 2 showed a significantly different gait function (10MWT, 6MWT, DGI, TUG, F8WT) (p<0.05). In the inter-group comparison after intervention, EG 1 showed significant improvements in the entire gait parameters and EG 2 only showed significant improvement in DGI and TUG compared to CG (p<0.05). Conclusion: These findings show that action observation training with auditory feedback may be used beneficially for improving the gait function of stroke patients with hemiparesis.

        Effects of Ethanol Addition on the Efficiency of Subcritical Water Extraction of Proteins and Amino Acids from Porcine Placenta

        In a previous study, hydrolysates of porcine placenta were obtained and the extraction efficiency for proteins and amino acids was compared between sub- and super-critical water extraction systems; optimum efficiency was found to be achieved using subcritical water (170°C, 10 bar). In this study, the effects of adding ethanol to the subcritical water system were investigated. The lowest-molecular-weight extraction product detected weighed 434 Da, and the efficiency of extraction for low-molecular-weight products was increased when either the concentration of ethanol was decreased, or the extraction time was lengthened from 10 min to 30 min. The highest concentration of free amino acids (approximately 8 mM) was observed following 30 min extraction using pure distilled water. The concentration of free amino acids was significantly lower when ethanol was added or a shorter extraction time was used (p<0.05). Color change of the solution following extraction was measured. There were no significant differences in color between lysates produced with different extraction times when using distilled water (p>0.05); however, using different extraction times produced significant differences in color when using 20% or 50% ethanol solution for subcritical extraction (p<0.05). The range of pH for the hydrolysate solutions was 6.4-7.5. In conclusion, the investigated extraction system was successful in the extraction of ≤ 500 Da hydrolysates from porcine placenta, but addition of ethanol did not yield higher production of low-molecular-weight hydrolysates than that achieved by DW alone.

        Pig was mixed with the same quantity of human night soil and was anaerobically digested at 25℃. 1. The gas production was 0.21~0.36㎥/㎏ VS Fed/day and the gas had a methane content of 43∼64%. 2. The maximum gas production was 0.39㎥/㎏ VS Fed/day and the methane gas production was estimated at 0.29㎥ CH_(4)/㎏ VS Fed/day. 3. The percentage removals in COD, BOD, TS and volatile solid (VS) were 13∼35.3%, 20.8∼58.5%, 14.8∼40% and 36∼49% respectively and were increased with increase of hydraulic retention time (HRT). 4. When the HRT was increased from l0day to 40day, the gas production was increased by 1.7 times and the methane gas production was increased by 2.6times. 5. The refractory fraction on inlet VS was 37.5% and substrate removal rate constant (K) was estimated at 0.107/day. 6. The specific resistance of sludge was 3.23 x 10^(10) ∼ 7.58 x 10^(10) sec²/g and dewatering depended on HRT.

      • 위장질환에 따른 H.pylori 감염빈도와 검사방법의 비교분석

        목적 : H. pylori가 위장관 질환의 병인에 깊은 관련이 있어 이의 적절한 진단 및 치료가 중요하게 대두되고 있다. 이에 저자들은 소화기 증상을 주소로 내원한 환자들을 대상으로 내시경 검사를 실시하여 H. pylori검출을 위한 CLO검사, IgG 항체검사 및 H&E 염색 등을 시행하여 각 질환별로 H. pylori 감염의 양성율을 알아보고 검사법에 따른 민감도 및 특이도를 그 유용성에 대하여 조사하였다. 대상 및 방법 : 1996 4월에서 8월까지 경북대학교병원에 소화기증상을 주소로 내원한 총 313명의 환자를 대상으로 내시경 검사를 실시하여 H. pylori 검출을 위한 CLO 검사, IgG 항체검사, 조직염색 검사를 실시하였다. 결과 : 전체 대상 환자수는 313명이었고 연령별 분포는 16세부터 80세 까지 다양하였으며 그중40대, 50대, 60대가 각각 69예(22%), 73예(23.3%), 65예(20.8%)로 전체 환자중 66%를 차지하였다. 남녀비는 2.07 대 1로 남자가 많았다. 대상환자의 평균나이는 52±15세였고, 전체 대상환자에서 H. pylori 양성군과 음성군의 평균나이는 각각 50±15세, 54±15세 였고, 궤양환자군에서 H. pylori 양성군과 음성군사이의 평균나이는 각각 49±14.8세, 55±13.8세로 나타났다. 각 질환별분포는 위염이 72명(23%), 십이지장 궤양이 85명(27.2%), 위궤양이 80명(25.6%), 위암이 20명(6.4%), 비궤양성 소화불량이 13명(4.2%), 기타가 43명(13.7%)이었으며, H. pylori 감염 양성율은 위염이 71%, 십이지장 궤양이 86.8%, 위궤양이 58.3%, 위암이 75%, 비궤양성 소화불량이 75%였으며 특히 유문륜 궤양에서는 100%의 양성율을 보였다. 소화성 궤양군과 비궤양군에서의 H. pylori 양성율을 비교해 본 결과 궤양군에서는 73.1%, 비궤양군에서는 72%로 통계학적으로 차이는 없었다(P=0.91). 소화성 궤양환자에서 출혈이 동반된 군과 동반되지 않은 군에서의 H. pylori 양성율을 비교해 본 결과 출혈이 동반된 군에서의 양성율은 54.5%였고, 출혈이 동반되지 않은 군에서는 77.5%의 양성율을 보여 출혈이동반되지 않은 군에서 통계학적으로 유의하게 높았다(P=0.014). 나이에 따른 양성율을 알아본 결과 50세 이하에서는 78.5%였고, 50세 이상에서는 67.5%로서 양성율이 낮았으나 통계학적으로 유의성은 없었다(P=0.052). 각 검사법에 따른 민감도 및 특이도는 전체 환자중에서는 CLO검사가 88.9%, 96.1%, IgG항체검사 90.8%, 58.5%, H&E 염색검사 86.9%, 79.2%로서 민감도는 비슷하게 나왔으나 CLO검사는 상대적으로 특이도가 다른 검사법에 비해 높았다. 궤양군에서의 CLO검사의 민감도와 특이도는 92.0%, 95.6%였고, 비궤양군에서의 민감도와 특이도는 84.3%, 96.8%로서 비궤양군에서는 CLO검사의 민감도는 약간 낮았다. 나이에 따른 CLO 검사의 민감도 및 특이도는 50세 이하에서는 91.5%, 93.1% 였고, 50세 이상에서는 86.3%, 97.9%로서 50세 이상에서는 상대적으로 CLO검사의 민감도가 낮았다. 결론 : 본 연구에서는 위장질환에 따른 H. pylori 양성율을 알아보았는데, 다른 보고에서 처럼 높게 나왔으며, 진단 방법으로 사용한 CLO검사, IgG항체 검사, 조직염색검사 등은 모두 비교적 높은 예민도를 나타냈고, 그중 CLO검사가 간편하고 경제적이라는 면에서 임상적으로 유용한 검사로 여겨지나 상대적으로 CLO검사의 민감도가 낮은 비궤양성 질환과 50세 이상의 환자군에서는 CLO검사 외에 다른 검사방법을 병행함으로써 H. pylori의 진단율을 높일 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. Background: Gastric colonization by Helicobacter. pylori is common among patients with peptic ulcer and gastritis. And various diagnostic tests are available in confirming H. pylori infection. The aim of this paper is to estimate the prevalence of H. pylori infection in Gastroduodenal disorders and compare the sensitivity and specificity of the most widely available tests. Methods: A total of 313 patients were tested for H. pylori infection by IgG Ab, CLO test and H&E stains. Results: The prevalence of H. pylori infection was significantly higher in duodenal ulcer(86.8%) than in gastric cancer(75%), gastritis(71%) and gastric ulcer(58.3%)(P=0.009). The sensitivity and specificity of each test was as follows: CLO test(88.9%, 96.1%), IgG Ab test(90.8%, 58.5%), H&E stain(86.9%, 79.2%). Sensitivity of CLO test in peptic group was 92.0%, whereas in non-peptic group, it was 86.3%. Sensitivity of CLO test in age under 50 was 91.5%, that over 50 it was 86.3%. Conculsions: There is a strong association between H. pylori and gastrointestinal disorders. CLO tests have relatively high sensitivity and specificity, especially in peptic group and younger age(below 50 yr)group. But in those patients in which CLO tests are less sensitive (age>50 or non-peptic group), more than one test may be necessary to diagnose the presence of the organism.

        교육사회학의 연구 동향 분석

        한국, 일본, 미국, 영국의 교육사회학 학술지 논문을 주제별 내용분석을 통해 각각의 하위개념을 도출하고 개념의 유사성의 정도에 따라 다시 상위개념으로 분류하여 교육사회학의 주요 연구영역을 탐색하였다. 학술지에서 가장 많이 다루어진 영역은 교육과 평등/지위획득, 교육정책과 제도, 교육사회학의 성격/이론, 학교사회와 학업성취, 페미니스트(여성), 청소년 문제와 문화, 교사교육/교직사회, 공교육의 문제/교육개혁 등의 순으로 나타났다. 특히 교육정책과 제도 문제는 한국과 일본에서, 교육사회학의 발달과 정체성 문제는 영국에서, 학업성취 관련 내용은 미국에서 가장 많이 다루어졌다. The purpose of this study was to explore the research trend in sociology of education. To conduct the purpose of this study, the Korean Journal of Sociology of Education(KJSE), the Journal of Educational Sociology(JES), Sociology of Education(SOE), and Bitish Journal of Sociology of Education(BJSE)'s articles were analyzed. The findings of this study were as follows: First, though the major categories(major domains) of research areas were a few differences among nations, they were education & equality, educational policy, sociology of education theory, school society & academic achievement, feminism, adolescent problem & culture, teacher education, school crisis & education reform, course education, sociology of curriculum, and etc. Second, the most frequent research area was the educational policy & system problems in Korea and Japan; the development and identity of sociology of education in Britain; The school society & academic achievement in U.S.A.
