      • 이온교환법에 의한 고분자전해질형 연료전지용 전극의 제조와 특성 고찰

        고분자전해질형 연료전지용 전극의 백금 이용률을 높이기 위해 촉매제조시 이온교환법을 이용하여 백금을 carbon에 담지하고 이에 따른 전지성능변화를 고찰하였다. 전극제조시 Nafion이 첨가되지 않은 경우 이온교환양이 증가함에 따라 전기화학적인 활성이 증가하여 전지성능이 증가하였다. 전극제조시 Nafion이 첨가된 경우, Nafion첨가량이 증가함에 따라 전지성능은 증가하였는 데 Nafin첨가에 의해 이온교환되지 않은 백금이 전기화학적인 활성을 가지게 되어 전지성능은 증가하였다. To improve platinum utilization of PEMFC(Proton exchange membrane fuel cell) electrode, in preparing catalytic powder, platinum was impregnated on carbon by ion exchange method and its cell performance was investigated. When electrode was prepared without adding Nafion solution, as Nafion pre-impregnated amount was increased, electrochemically active area and cell performance was increased. When electrode was prepared with Nafion solution, increase of adding Nafion amount was improvement of cell performance. By adding Nafion at preparation of electrode, non ion-exchange platinum was shown electrochemical activity, cell performance was improved.

        Rural of Koreas has rapidly changed through the process of industrialization and urbanization. During past 30 years, development differences between urban and rural, metroplitan area and area derived from a highly economic growth, bring about dual specialization that deepens overpopulation and sparsity. Therefore, with a new concern about rural, necessity of rural development policy that developes a settlement and life area for settlement for ensuing stablized settlement and living activity of rural people, has been drived step by step. For rural welfare establishment that is settled and good hereafter, this study aims at attempting a theoretical approach about the way of development for rural settlement as a new rural development strategy through examination of today's rural reality, under assumption that rural people must be able to obtain stable jobs and to be pleasant without leaving rural area, and rural settlement to be able to enjoy urban advantages must be realized. Therefore, items that must be obtained basically rural area to be a human settlement space are equipment connected with a dwelling house, production, consumption, job relaxation, infrastructure connected with transportation or communication network and environment. By the way, the best function of a human settlement space makes a basic pleasant settlement area to be in the middle of that. Then rationalization of land use must be realized as being a best condition for human life around space of a dewelling house. Besides, spacial accessibility about all equipment of inhabitants must be easy. That is, economic distance, social distance and cultural distance as well as spacial distance must be included. Also, those spacial functions must be realized on a basis of suitable enironment for a human settlement life. At the same tiem, the upper area must be connected with the lower area as the system of spacial settlement in settlement space. But truely, as rural people can't satisfy with services of the surrounding rural areas, they desire better city or metroplitan. The these problems bring about inequality between urban and rural. Therefore, here are urgent reasons that must be done rearing of rural central town and rural integrated development of unit area. So, these dys, to correct maldistribution of land use and inequality of settlement space that Korean society faces on, new strategies of rural integrated development for lift area for settlement than gives the meaning. That rural areas become like a place for human settlement life will be able to be chosen in the view of humanism. The say of thinking of rural residents(Jukans-myun, Anseong-gun, Kyeonggi-do) was surveyed in order to develop new rural settlement planning. From the data collected in this survey, rural life-style, view on traditional rural life, agriculture, farming, agri-policy, social attitude, and degree of satifaction of rural life, etc, were analyzed. Firstly, most of rural residents interviewed in this survey have the opinion of not leaving their home village if living conditions improved to a reasonable level in the near future. In decision-making process of village affairs, they want to participate actively and equally. Secondly, in spite of their acceptance of agriculture as a vital sector destined to national security, most of them think that framing should be little of promise. Thirdly, they have the negative attitude to urban-oriented social valued and also to the agricultural policy, while seeking consolation through human and traditional viewing of rural life style. Therefore, in the development of new rural settlement model, idea-making should be directed to the betterment of communal value of village life, stability of rural economy, rationalization of rural life style and enhancement of rural-type happiness.

      • PCR을 이용한 Rat 기관지 세척액에서의 Pneumocystis carinii DNA의 검출 : 기초실험 A pilot study

        Background: Pneumocystis carinii (PC) is a opportunistic pathogen causing serious pneumonia (Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia : PCP) in immunosuppressed patients including AIDS. Laboratory diagnosis of PCP is dependent on microscopic demonstration of the PC by using cytochemical staining or by immunocytochemical staining with monoclonal antibodies. However, these staining methods are not highly sensitive. The development of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) has made it possible to detect very small numbers of pathogens in clinical specimens. To establish the usefulness of PCR for detection of PC DNA, We performed PCR as a pilot study. Methods: PCP was induced on Spraque-Dawley rats with prednisolone 5mg IM twice a week. Bronchial lavages, impression smears, and permanent sections were performed from the 3rd week to 7th week of cortisonized rats. PC DNA was extracted with bead beater / 10% CTAB method. Results: Impression smears showed PC cyst after the 4th week (100%, 28/28 rats), and permanent sections showed 27/28 rats. Control rats showed some PC cysts (2/7). PCR result was positive only one case among the 6th week rats (1/7), But positive 6 cases at the 7th week rats, (6/7). Among control rats. 2 cases were positive (2/7). ??This data is a pilot study for the PC DNA detection using a PCR. PCP were successfully cortisonized rats. If adequate bronchial washing technique will be used, PCR can be a sensitive for PC DNA detection.

      • 중이에서 원발한 편평상피세포암 1례

        Squamous cell carcinoma of the middle ear is a rare disease. The incidence has been variously reported as 0.0006 to 0.004% of the general population and less than 10% of the temporal bone cancer. Although many authors have demonstrated the relationship between the longstanding chronic suppurative otitis media and development of squamous cell carcinoma of middle ear, the etiology is unknown. Carcinoma arising in middle ear has a poor prognosis unless treated in early stage. Biopsy of any suspicious tissue is the key to make early diagnosis. Recently the authors experienced a rate case of squamous cell carcinoma of middle ear confirmed by histopathological study of specimen taken from middle ear cavity during radical mastoidectomy under the diagnosis of chronic suppurative otitis media with cholesteatoma in a 56-year-old male.

        A ?? criterion and its test method were developed by Begley, Landes and ASTM Task Group E24. Their test method was adopted into ASTM E 813-81. In ASTM E813-81 attention is directed mainly to processes of ductile tearing. Blunting line is assumed ??△a and the R curve is determined by the multiple specimen technique or the single specimen unloading compliance technique. In the ASTM recommended procedure, the ?? value at the onset of crack growth is given by the intersection point between a best straight line fit of the data of J versus △a and an assumed blunting line. In this paper, the elastic-plastic fracture toughness ?? of a structural steel SB 41 and submerged arc welded SB 41 weldment which have the properties of low strength and high ductility was discussed. The main efforts were focussed on the comparison of the ?? values determined by the ASTM R curve method, ASTM partial unloading compliance method and JSME R curve method. In the partial unloading compliance method, a power law equation was found to give a better fit to the J-△ a data in high ductility meterials. And an alternative to the ASTM E813-81 procedure was suggested, based on the experimentally modified blunting line.

        This study was conducted to investigate the effects of water stress(drought) at early growth stage, side dressing and topping stage on the growth pattern and yield components of flue-cured tobacco. The results are summarized as follows. 1.Drought at early growth stage retarded the rate of early growth, but the total amount of growth was recovered because of accelerated later growth. 2.Side dressing on the 30th day after transplanting(N : P2O5 : K2O = 1.5 : 1.5 : 3.0 g/plant) made the growth rate faster during maximum growth stage. Total growth amount showed little difference between side dressing and no side dressing, 3.In the plots of no side dressing, drought at early growth stage had little effects on the leaf area and dry leaf weight of Cutters. But in the plots of side dressing leaf area and dry leaf weight of Cutters were smaller in the plats of 15 day and 20 day drought than in the plots of 10 day drought and no drought. The longer the duration of draught was, the lesser the weight of unit leaf area was. 4.In the plats of no drought, leaf area of Leafs and Tips and dry weight of Leafs were unaffected by side dressing. But in the plots of drought at early growth stage, those were significantly affected by side dressing. The weight of unit leaf area of Tips and Green tips was lesser in the plots of 15 day and 20 day drought with side dressing than the other treatments. 5.Early topping made larger the leaf area of Leafs, Tips and Green Tips, and dry weight of Leafs and Tips than these of recommended stage of topping. Early topping in the plots of drought at early growth stage made little the weight of unit leaf area of Tips and Green Tips. 6.Though the dry leaf weight per a plant showed little differences among the treatments, yield components according to the leaf positions showed significant differences among the treatments.

        Comprehensive Study on the Morphology Control of TiO<sub>2</sub> Nanorods on Foreign Substrates by the Hydrothermal Method

        <P>The hydrothermal method is a facile route for the synthesis of TiO<SUB>2</SUB> nanostructured materials, but it requires accurate process optimizations and adjustments to circumvent the undesirable morphology products. In this study, systematically controlled experimental studies are carried out under thermodynamic and kinetic considerations to understand the formation of well-aligned TiO<SUB>2</SUB> nanorods during the hydrothermal reaction. In this regard, TiO<SUB>2</SUB> nanorods are synthesized on various types of substrates, including single crystal TiO<SUB>2</SUB> and sapphire, fluorine doped tin oxide, and silicon. Variable growth parameters are classified and investigated for their effects on the morphological evolution of TiO<SUB>2</SUB> nanorods. The preferred morphology of TiO<SUB>2</SUB> nanorods with the {110} facet is confirmed based on the crystallographic results for TiO<SUB>2</SUB> nanorods acquired by extensive transmission electron microscopy studies during the entire growth processes. The presence of the seeds on the substrates is found to be mandatory for the formation, growth, and strong adhesion of TiO<SUB>2</SUB> on the applied foreign substrates. The results elucidate that the growth kinetics of the process is significantly governed by the amount of applied HCl concentration, which is highly influential on the morphology of the synthesized TiO<SUB>2</SUB> nanorods.       • 3′-Deoxy-3′-<sup>18</sup>F-Fluorothymidine PET for the Early Prediction of Response to Leucovorin, 5-Fluorouracil, and Oxaliplatin Therapy in Patients with Metastatic Colorectal Cancer

        <P>The aim of this study was to evaluate 3′-deoxy-3′-<SUP>18</SUP>F-fluorothymidine (<SUP>18</SUP>F-FLT) PET for early prediction of the standard anatomic response and survival outcomes in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) receiving leucovorin, 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), and oxaliplatin (FOLFOX). <B>Methods:</B> The main eligibility criteria included histologically confirmed mCRC, ≥1 extrahepatic measurable lesions, and no prior chemotherapy in a metastatic setting. Chemotherapy consisted of leucovorin on day 1, followed by the continuous infusion of 5-FU on days 1 and 2, and oxaliplatin on day 3. In the second and subsequent cycles of chemotherapy, oxaliplatin was administered simultaneously with leucovorin on day 1. <SUP>18</SUP>F-FLT PET scans were obtained 3 times during the first cycle of chemotherapy: before chemotherapy, 24 h after infusion of 5-FU (day 2), and 48 h after completion of chemotherapy (day 5). The maximum standardized uptake value (SUV<SUB>MAX</SUB>) of <SUP>18</SUP>F-FLT was measured. Treatment responses were assessed by CT after 3 cycles of FOLFOX. <B>Results:</B> Eighteen patients were included in the study. The response rate after 3 cycles of FOLFOX was 27.8% (5/18). The SUV<SUB>MAX</SUB> was increased in responders (<I>P</I> = 0.043) and nonresponders (<I>P</I> < 0.001) on day 2 and was decreased, compared with baseline values, on day 5 in responders only (<I>P</I> = 0.043). Receiver-operating-characteristic curve analysis indicated that the use of a threshold of an SUV<SUB>MAX</SUB> increase on day 2 of ≤45.8% resulted in a sensitivity of 100%, specificity of 69.2%, and relative risk of 2.250 (<I>P</I> = 0.029) for the diagnosis of responders. Use of a threshold of an SUV<SUB>MAX</SUB> decrease on day 5 of ≥10.6% resulted in a sensitivity of 100%, specificity of 76.9%, and relative risk of 2.667 (<I>P</I> = 0.007). Patients with low <SUP>18</SUP>F-FLT flare tended to have longer survivals than patients with high flare (2-y overall survival rate, 77.8% vs. 44.4%; <I>P</I> = 0.051). <B>Conclusion:</B> The <SUP>18</SUP>F-FLT flare observed during 5-FU infusion was associated with poor treatment response in patients with mCRC. The degree of <SUP>18</SUP>F-FLT flare might be used to predict the outcome of patients who receive infusional 5-FU–based chemotherapy.</P>

      • 인슐린 비의존형 당뇨병 환자에서 24시간 혈압 변동 및 요중 알부민 배설량에 관한 연구

        Recently, blood pressure(BP) starts to increase in close relationship to development of persistent microalbuminuria in diabetes. Thus, author studied 24-hour BP changes in diabetics compared to the those in nondiabetics and the changes of urinary albumin excretion (UAE) according to 24-hour BP changes in diabetics with microalbuminuria. Twenty-four-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring(ABPPM) was performed in 38 NIDDM patients(18 normotensives and 20 hypertensives) and in 37 control subjects without diabetes(18 normotensives and 19 hypertensives) . Also 24-hour ABPM was performed in 38 diabetics (20 microalbuminurit and 18 normoalbuminuric). The analysis of individual recordings allowed us to detect an impaired circadian pattern(the disappearance of the nocturnal BP decrease or a paradoxical BP increase) in 30% of the normotensive and 31% of the hypertensive diabetics. Twenty-four-hour ABPM(night systolic/diastolic ±SD mmHg) was significantly higher in microabluminuric(124.2 ±11.4/75.1±8.2 mmHg) than in normoalbuminuric subject, (114.0±7.6/64.6±6.6 mmHg, p<0.05). This study suggests that not only awaking BP but also especially day-night minimum SBP decrease are highly responsible for the renal impairment in NIDDM patients, unrelation to hypertension. Thus. ABPM reflects the association between UAE and blood pressure in diabetics more precisely than clinical measurements. and a significant correlation exists between rate of increase in Urinary albumin excretion and blood pressure in diabetics.
