Objective: This study aimed to assess the safety and effect on glucose level of Bojungikgi-tang in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: To review patients' clinical characteristics and laboratory tests retrospectively, we investigated 15 hospitalized patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who took Bojungikgi-tang at Kyung Hee University Korean Medical Hospital for at least one day between January 2012 and December 2022. The blood glucose levels, including fasting blood sugar (FBS), 2-hour postprandial glucose (PP2) levels, and glycated hemoglobin level, were collected to determine the effect of the Bojungikgi-tang on blood sugar changes. Furthermore, to evaluate the safety of Bojungikgi-tang, hepatic function and renal function tests were implemented, including aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, γ-glutamyltransferase, blood urea nitrogen, creatinine, and Modification of Diet in Renal Disease estimated glomerular filtration rate. Results: When Bojungikgi-tang and a standard treatment for diabetes were administered for patients with type 2 diabetes, it was confirmed that there were no statistically significant changes in FBS and PP2 levels in the analysis of each medication taken. There was no significant difference in the safety profile after taking Bojungikgi-tang. Conclusions: The combined administration of Bojungikgi-tang with standard hypoglycemic medication for patients with type 2 diabetes may not affect blood glucose levels and safety.

여학생의 학교스포츠클럽 참여 경험의 의미: 고등학교 혼성 배구클럽을 중심으로

Purpose The purpose of this study is to qualitatively analyze the meaning of high school girls' school sports club participation and growth experience. Methods The study was conducted on high school girls who participated in a school sports volleyball club, and data were collected and qualitatively analyzed through in-depth interviews. Result In the school sports volleyball club, where men and women work and practice together, the girls stayed on the periphery at the beginning of their activities, and gradually went through a stage of adjusting to the club activities. Later, as their self-confidence rose, the girls began to play a central role in the club, which led them to become the main subject of the school sports club and the club's leaders. The results of this study show that school sports clubs are an important socialization device for girls, help form athletic capital, and lay the foundation for lifelong sports. Conclusion Girls' participation in school sports clubs consists of four stages. School sports clubs help girls socialize, acquire athletic capital, and participate in lifelong sports. As a suggestion, it is suggested that future research should be added to further research that can more delicately trace the triggers of the formation and accumulation of athletic capital in school sports clubs. 연구목적 본 연구는 여고생의 학교스포츠클럽 참여 양상과 성장 경험의 의미를 질적으로 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구방법 연구는 혼성 학교스포츠 배구클럽에 참여한 여고생을 대상으로 하였고, 개방형 설문과 심층 면담을 통해 자료를 수집하여 질적으로 분석하였다. 결과 남녀가 함께 활동하고 연습하는 학교스포츠 배구클럽에서 여학생들은 활동 초반 주변부에 머물렀고, 점차 클럽활동에 적응하는 단계를 거쳤다. 이후에 여학생들은 자신감이 상승하면서 클럽에서 중심적 역할을 하기 시작했고, 이를 통해 학교스포츠클럽 운영의 주요 주체이자 클럽의 리더가 되었다. 연구결과는 학교스포츠클럽이 여학생의 중요한 사회화 장치이며, 운동자본의 형성을 도왔고, 평생 스포츠의 기틀을 마련하였다는 점을 보여준다. 결론 여학생의 학교스포츠클럽 참여는 4단계로 구성된다. 학교스포츠클럽은 여학생의 사회화, 운동자본의 획득, 평생스포츠 참가에 도움을 준다. 제언으로 향후 연구에서 학교스포츠클럽에서 운동자본의 형성과 축적의 계기와 양상을 보다 섬세하게 추적할 수 있는 연구가 추가되어야 한다는 점을 제시하였다.

Color Distribution of Maxillary Permanent Incisors in Korean Pediatric Patients Using a Spectrophotometer

This study aims to analyze the color distribution of maxillary permanent incisors in Korean pediatric patients and determine the effects of age and root developmental stage on tooth color. The L*a*b* values of 404 sound and fully erupted maxillary incisors without dental caries, restorations, trauma history or discoloration from 101 Korean patients between ages 7 and 15, with a mean age 10.0 ± 1.5, were analyzed with a spectrophotometer. CIE L*a*b* values were 84.01, 0.17, and 24.07 in maxillary central incisors, and 82.33, 0.31, and 25.99 in maxillary lateral incisors. L* values of maxillary central incisors were higher, and b* values of maxillary central incisors were lower than those of maxillary lateral incisors (p < 0.001). The color differences among the subregions exceeded the clinical perceptibility threshold in both of the maxillary central and lateral incisors. L* value for children at age 10 and younger was 84.13 in maxillary central incisors and 84.04 in maxillary lateral incisors, and those of older patients were 80.62 and 80.56, respectively. L* value of maxillary incisors of children at age 10 and younger was significantly higher than that of older patients. The root developmental stage did not affect tooth color. This study suggests that the color differences between maxillary central and lateral incisors and among the subregions of a tooth and the effects of age should be considered for aesthetic restorations of permanent incisors in pediatric patients.

갑상선암 환자에 대한 갑상선 전절제술과 방사성요오드치료가 수면무호흡과 코골이에 미치는 영향

Objectives Some paper claim thyroidectomy decreases snoring and sleep apnea symptoms and the opposite. The aim of this study is to evaluate and compare the effects of sleep apnea and snoring by total thyroidectomy and radioactive iodine (RI) therapy. Methods A total of 88 patients who underwent total thyroidectomy and RI therapy for thyroid cancer in the outpatient clinic of the department of surgery of a general hospital were recruited. Interviewers completed their demographic data, past medical history, and data on total thyroidec¬tomy and sleep apnea with snoring, and also preoperative and postoperative Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), preoperative and postoperative Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), preopera¬tive and postoperative Snoring Index (SI), preoperative and postoperative global life satisfaction (index of well-being) scale, and postoperative Beck Depression Inventory. Results The Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test showed PSQI preoperative-postoperative p=0.750, ESS preoperative-postoperative p=0.000, SI preoperative-postoperative p=0.034, life satisfac¬tion preoperative-postoperative p=0.216 (based on negative ranks). Conclusion The above results indicate that snoring and daytime sleepiness increased after to¬tal thyroidectomy and RI therapy, suggesting that the patency of upper airway (UA) was reduced or the collapsibility of the UA increased after total thyroidectomy and RI therapy. That is, the above results indicate that sleep apnea and snoring were aggravated after total thyroidectomy and RI therapy.

A Quantitative and Qualitative Study on Virtual Makeup of Instant Beautifying Application - Focus on Color and Shape

Inspired by the increasing popularity of cosmetic-related mobile application as a tool for instant beautification, the present study examined colors of virtual makeup templates and makeup looks. A survey study was performed by thirty-six respondents to determine the top three desirable virtual makeup templates among nineteen templates. The templates of ‘Bella’, ‘Hilary’ and ‘Cara’ were then analyzed by makeup specialists and color experts for the evaluation of their makeup design and colors. Each color feature of three makeup templates were also evaluated through statistical analysis of ANOVA on the measure of L*a*b* crossed with five types of face elements on three types of virtual makeup images. Overall results indicate that Korean female users in their 20s and 30s preferred a similar makeup concept appeared in makeup template and key worlds. They also preferred a pale skin tone with higher lightness and a slightly higher saturated lip color as an emphasis than other features.

전투기 EOTS와 IRST 체계의 통합방안 분석

본 논문에서는 세계 각국에서 운용 중인 EOTS(Electro-Optical Targeting System)와 IRST(Infra-Red Search and Track)의 체계 통합 형태를 분석하여 보라매 전투기(KF-X)에 적용 가능한 체계를 제안하였다. 작전운용, 연구개발, 획득 및 군수지원 측면에 대해 외장형태와 내장형태의 장 · 단점을 평가한 결과, 통합 단일 체계를 구성하면서 IR 센서를 분산 배치하는 체계가 성능이 가장 우수할 것으로 판단되었다. 그러나 국내 유사장비 개발 경험과 축적된 기술수준을 고려하면 외장형 통합형태가 단기간 내에 자체개발이 가능한 실용적 방안으로 평가되었다. In this paper, the feasible system integration methods of EOTS and IRST applicable to the KF-X is suggested through the analysis of existing integration cases in various countries of the world. The applicable external and internal integration method were reviewed on the pros an cons of the operational performance, research/development, and acquisition/logistic aspects. In the operational aspect, the method of internal separate EOTS/IRST integration and additional distributed IR sensor was the most attractive. For the domestic development, separate external integration was assessed to be feasible method considering the experiences in development of similar domestic systems and the accumulation of related technologies.
