文章聴解における空間的状況モデルの構築と 視空間作動記憶の働き ― 中国語母語話者と中国人日本語学習者の比較を通して ―

本研究では、第二言語(以下、L2)としての日本語の文章聴解における空間的状況モデルの構築において、視空間作動記憶の働き方が学習者の言語性作動記憶容量の大小によって異なるか否かを検討することを目的に、母語(以下、L1)聴解を対象とした実験1とL2聴解を対象とした実験2を行った。実験では、言語性作動記憶容量を個人差要因として扱い、二重課題として空間的タッピング課題を用い、その種類を中央制御部の関与の大きさによって操作した。具体的には、単純タッピング条件、複雑タッピング条件及びタッピング無し条件を設けた。実験の結果、2つの実験ともに、言語性WM容量が大きい聴き手のほうが、それが小さい聴き手より地図作成テストにおける正再生率が高く、言語性WMがL1とL2の聴解における空間的状況モデルの構築において重要な役割を果たすことが示唆された。また、空間的タッピング課題による妨害の出方が、言語性WM容量の大小によって異なった。聴き手の言語処理の自動性、また、言語理解の効率性の高低によって、視空間WMの働き方が異なり、空間的状況モデルを構成する意味表象のモダリティによる豊富さが異なることが明らかになった。 The purpose of the present study is to investigate how visuospatial working memory (visuospatial WM) is involved in the construction of a spatial situation model for spatial passages presented auditorily in Japanese, L2. 2 experiments were conducted to compare between L1and L2 listening comprehension. In the experiments verbal working memory (verbal WM) capacity was manipulated as an independent variable and a spatial tapping task was used as a dual task, which consisted of simple tapping conditions, complex tapping conditions as a target-tracking task, and control conditions, manipulated by the degree of involvement of central executive. As a result in both experiments the listeners with high verbal WM capacity had a higher correct recall rate in the mapping drawing test than the listeners with low verbal WMcapacity, which suggests that verbal WM plays an important role in the construction of spatial situation models in both L1 and L2 listening comprehension. In addition, the interference caused by the spatial tapping tasks differed depending on the verbal WM capacity. These results indicate that depending on the listener's automaticity of language processing and the efficiency of language comprehension the degree of the involvement of visuospatial WM differed and consequently, the richness of the representations that make up the spatial situation model differed by modality.

Individual identification is an important part in medicolegal field especially in mass disaster. At July, 27, 1989, KAL KE-803 was crashed on landing at Tripoli International Airport, Liba. The plane was caught in fire and sixty eight Koreans were sacrified. The majority of victims were severely charred and injured. The authors examed all dead bodies and successfully identified all the cases through visual, anthropological, odontological, radiological and pathological methods including fingerprint and blood typing.

<P>Scrotal hyperthermia leads to oxidative stress and apoptosis in spermatogenic cells, which subsequently causes male infertility. In this study, we examined the effects of <I>β</I>-carotene and/or curcumin on heat-stress- (HS-) induced testicular injuries in mice. ICR male mice (8 weeks old) were consecutively treated with <I>β</I>-carotene (10 mg/kg) and/or curcumin (20 mg/kg) orally once a day for 14 days and then subjected to single exposure with scrotal HS at 43°C for 15 min on day 7. HS induced a significant reduction in testicular weight, appearance of multinucleated giant cells, and desquamation of germ cells in destructive seminiferous tubules, as well as degenerative Leydig cells. Moreover, HS reduced the superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and mRNA levels of mitochondrial SOD, phospholipid hydroperoxide glutathione peroxidase, B-cell lymphoma-extra-large, and 3<I>β</I>-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase, with increases in lipid peroxidation levels and mRNA levels of BCL2-associated X protein and caspase-3 relative to those of the control group. However, these changes were significantly recovered by combined treatment with <I>β</I>-carotene and curcumin after HS. These findings indicate that the combined treatment with <I>β</I>-carotene and curcumin might be a valuable protective agent to ameliorate hyperthermic spermatogenic disorders via its potent antioxidative, antiapoptotic, and androgen synthetic effects.</P>
Will My Customers Come Back? A Study of Beauty Salons in Taiwan

Purpose – The beauty salon industry is a highly competitive market. Every beauty salon shop aims to keep its customers satisfied and hopes that they will revisit several times. Hence, this paper investigates the key factors affecting the repurchase intention of consumers in the beauty salon industry in Taiwan. Research design, data, and methodology – We first use the content analysis of free-response narratives from beauticians to classify the key factors objectively and develop the questionnaire accordingly. We then distribute the questionnaire to 130 beauty salon consumers to complete the questionnaire. Next, the Grey Relation Analysis is employed to identify the key factors that affect the repurchase intention of consumers in the beauty salon industry. Results – From the perspectives of the beauty salon customers, the factors affecting the repurchase intention of consumers are (1) obvious treatment results, (2) the treatment space considers personal privacy, (3) the offer of promotional prices for treatment/product trials, and (4) the product knowledge of the beauticians. From the perspectives of the beauticians, the factors include (1) the treatment space is well-designed and makes the customers feel relaxed, (2) enhancement of the customer relationship, (3) the treatment space considers personal privacy, and (4) the positive service attitude of the beauticians. Conclusions – We analyze all the key factors and offer some suggestions as a conclusion.

<P><B>Purpose:</B></P><P>Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is known to be highly radioresistant but the mechanisms associated with radioresistance have remained elusive. We found DOC-2/DAB2 interactive protein (DAB2IP) frequently downregulated in RCC, is associated with radioresistance. In this study, we investigated the underlying mechanism regulating radioresistance by DAB2IP and developed appropriate treatment.</P><P><B>Experimental Design:</B></P><P>Several RCC lines with or without DAB2IP expression were irradiated with ionizing radiation (IR) for determining their radiosensitivities based on colony formation assay. To investigate the underlying regulatory mechanism of DAB2IP, immunoprecipitation-mass spectrometry was performed to identify DAB2IP-interactive proteins. PARP-1 expression and enzymatic activity were determined using qRT-PCR, Western blot analysis, and ELISA. <I>In vivo</I> ubiquitination assay was used to test PARP-1 degradation. Furthermore, <I>in vivo</I> mice xenograft model and patient-derived xenograft (PDX) model were used to determine the effect of combination therapy to sensitizing tumors to IR.</P><P><B>Results:</B></P><P>We notice that DAB2IP-deficient RCC cells acquire IR-resistance. Mechanistically, DAB2IP can form a complex with PARP-1 and E3 ligases that is responsible for degrading PARP-1. Indeed, elevated PARP-1 levels are associated with the IR resistance in RCC cells. Furthermore, PARP-1 inhibitor can enhance the IR response of either RCC xenograft model or PDX model.</P><P><B>Conclusions:</B></P><P>In this study, we unveil that loss of DAB2IP resulted in elevated PARP-1 protein is associated with IR-resistance in RCC. These results provide a new targeting strategy to improve the efficacy of radiotherapy of RCC.</P>
The Recognition Method of Radiation Source Based on Information Entropy and Cloud Model

Information entropy features are often used for radiation source signal recognition, but due to the information entropy is very sensitive to noise, so this method has greater recognition rate changes with the SNR. This paper putting forward a viable recognition based on Entropy and cloud model. using cloud model to extract secondary features of signals, build radiation source signal’s entropy and cloud feature vector. The method uses cloud model description and processing interval fuzzy and observation noise data, better solve the low SNR cases of radiation source signal feature extraction problem. At the same time, putting forward the similar cloud classification recognition algorithm based on cloud model. The simulation results show that Entropy and cloud model has better recognition effect under low SNR, which can improve the signals’ recognition rate under low SNR.
