Background: Superior colliculus is a part of midbrain, and participates in the visual reflexes, It receives afferent fibers from optic nerve, visual cortex, and spinotectal tract. After optic deprivation, the microscopic structure of the superior colliculus changed. Calcium-binding proteins (CBPs) Play an important role in the neuronal protection, differentiation and reorganization of the central nervous system, Objectives and Methods: The effects of neonatal retinal deafferentation on a CBPs, calbindm D-28k (CB), Parvalbumin (PB) and calretimn (CR), and the existence of colocalization between the CBPs were examined immunohistochemically in the rat superior colliculus. Results: On the experimental (contralateral to enucleation) side of superior colliculus, the number of CB-immunoreactive (IR) cells was reduced (77.4% compared to control), but not fibers. The number of PB-IR neurons and fibers was also reduced on the experimental side (88.5% compared to control), In the other hand, the CR-IR cells were dramatically increased (642% compared to control), but CR-IR fibers were markedly decreased on the experimental side. The colocalization between CB-CR and PV-CR was rarely observed in the superior colliculus Conclusion: These results suggest that the changes of retinotectal projection may alter the expressional pattern of CBPs in different manners; relatively stable in CB- and PV-IR neurons and plastic in CR-IR neurons.
Development of New Endovascular Devices for Aneurysm Treatment

Since the first use of the Guglielmi detachable coil system for cerebral aneurysm embolization in 1990, various endovascular methods have been developed to treat large numbers of aneurysms. The main strategic and technical modifications introduced to date include balloon-assisted coilembolization, stent-assisted coil embolization, flow diverters, and flow disrupters. The development and introduction of such devices have been so persistent and rapid that new devices are being approved worldwide even before the earlier ones become available in some countries. However, even if some patient populations may possibly benefit from earlier introduction of new devices, the approval authorities should balance the available evidence of the safety and effectiveness of novel devices. This review aims to provide an overview of the recent innovations in endovascular treatment of cerebral aneurysms and a brief review of market access policies and regulations for importing high-risk medical devices, such as those used for endovascular aneurysm management, which correspond to class III devices, as defined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. We focus on the current situation in Korea and compare it with that in other Asian countries, such as China and Japan.
Poster Session : PS 0059 ; Cardiology : Lymphoma with Constrictive Pericarditis

Patients with pericardial diseases usually present with nonspecifi c symptoms, these diseases may not be detected until they have reached an advanced stage. It is therefore important to distinguish between normal pericardial structure and disease. Pericardial constriction is typically chronic, but variants include subacute, transient, and occult constriction. Pathologically, this results in chronic infl ammation and, frequently, calcifi cation. Constrictive pericarditis has multiple etiologies and can lead to disablingsymptoms and severe heart failure with poor quality of life. We described a patient who presented with symptoms of heart failure and was found to have diastolic heart failure. Several investigations pointed to the diagnosis of constrictive pericarditis which was later confi rmed by cardiac catheterisation. The etiology turns out to be primary cardiac lymphoma which is extremely rare in immunocompetent patients.

An L type broadband piezoelectric energy harvesting device was proposed in this paper, and the finite element model of L-type piezoelectric vibrator is established and simulated. It shows that the voltage corresponding to the first and third order resonant frequency is 0.06 V and 0.183 V, respectively, although higher than that of the ordinary piezoelectric vibrator, the voltage of the first mode and third mode for the piezoelectric vibrator is not close, which has little effect to broaden the bandwidth. Consequently, the simulation model for multi-cantilever piezoelectric vibrator was established, and its structural sizes were optimized, and it was obtained very close to first and third order resonant voltage, the bandwidth of the vibrator was broadened to 12.5 Hz. The multi-cantilever piezoelectric vibrator can be applied in a variety of devices for the collection of mechanical energy, and to provide a research foundation for the development of intelligent structures with self-sufficiency.
Additive effect of rod-like magnetite/sepiolite composite particles on magnetorheology
Yu Zhen Dong,Wen Jiao Han,최형진 한국공업화학회 2021 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.93 No.-
Rod-like magnetite/sepiolite nanocomposite particles were fabricated using a chemical co-precipitationprocess and introduced as an added ingredient in a carbonyl iron (CI)-based magnetorhologicalfluid(MRF). The morphologies of the composite particles and CI-magnetite/sepiolite mixture were observedby scanning electron microscopy. Two types of MRFs with and without magnetite/sepiolite additive werefabricated, and their MR behaviors and sedimentation stability were investigated using a rotationrheometer and an optical analyzer system of Turbiscan, respectively. The results showed that the additionof rod-like magnetite/sepiolite additives enhanced both the dispersion and MR properties of CI-basedMRF, making its potential application more promising.
Undaria Pinnatifida Suppresses Nasal Inflammation via Inhibiting Eosinophil and Mast Cell Activation
Zhen Nan Yu,Chang Ho Song,Thi Van Nguyen,Juan Jin,Eui Hyeog Han,Yan Jing Fan,Hyoung Tae Kim,Ok Hee Chai 대한체질인류학회 2021 대한체질인류학회 학술대회 연제 초록 Vol.64 No.-
Undaria pinnatifida (U. pinnatifida), a brown alga commonly grown in the oceans of East Asia, has long been a part of human diet and medicine. Though U. pinnatifida has been reported to have immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-diabetic and anti-bacterial activities, its specific effect on allergic rhinitis (AR) disease has not been clarified. In this study, the anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory effects of U. pinnatifida extract (UPE) were investigated in a mouse model of ovalbumin (OVA)-induced AR. After UPE treatment, the nasal and lung allergy symptoms, nasal mucosal swelling, and goblet cell hyperplasia were obviously ameliorated. Oral UPE regulated the balance of T helper (Th) 1/Th2 and Th17/Treg cells differentiation in AR mice in a dose-dependent manner. Accordingly, UPE attenuated the expression of Th2 cytokines (IL-4, IL-5, IL-13), Th17-related cytokine IL-17, proinflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-6) and up-regulated the secretion of Th1 and Treg cytokines including IL-12, IFN-γ and IL-10 in nasal lavage fluid (NALF). Also, UPE attenuated the migration of eosinophils to the nasal mucosa and NALF by inhibiting eotaxin, an eosinophil-specific chemoattractant, as well as suppressed Nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-κB)/Signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3), a signaling pathway in eosinophils. The levels of anti-OVA specific IgE and IgG1 were decreased, and as a result, the allergic response was attenuated by UPE via inhibiting mast cells accumulation in nasal mucosa. These results suggested that UPE may have therapeutic potential for treating AR through modulating important immune cells in the immune system such as Th1/Th2 and Th17/Treg balance, eosinophils and mast cells.
