        Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.

      • 운동 강도의 차이가 흰쥐의 혈액 성분과 적혈구의 형태에 미치는 영향

        This study was to investigate the effects on hematological indices and heinz body formation in various intensity, Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into the control group, the low-intensity exercise group, nigh-intensity exercise group (n=7 in each group). Animals of the low-intensity exercise groups were put on exercise 30 min per 1 day, 5 days per week for 6-weeks. Animals of the high-intensity exercise groups were put on exercise 120 min per 1 day, 5 days per week for 6-weeks. Red blood cell count (RBC), hemoglobin (Hgb), hematocrit (Hct), mean ceil volume (MCV), mean hemoglobin corpuscular (MCH), mean hemoglobin corpuscular concentration (MCHC) were analyzed in automated hematology analyzer (ABX Hematology MICROS 60) from 10㎕ of whole blood. Erythrocyte morphology were evaluated in super vital (Brilliant cresyl blue stain) stained blood films. In the present results, Hg, MCHC in the high-intensity exercise group was significantly decreased compared with the different exercise intensity and the control group. MCV in the high-intensity exercise group was significantly increased compared with the different exercise intensity end the control group. Heinz body formation in the high-intensity exercise group was significantly increased compared with the different exercise intensity and the control group. In the present study, it can be suggested that intensity of exercise can influence hematological variables and heinz body formation. These findings suggest that high intensity exercise induces oxidative damage to erythrocyte.

        The purpose of this study was to reform practically a Korean Judo's Doechigi-Bon(Forms of Counterattack, judo's Gaeshi no Kata, Judo's Uradori no Kata, Judo's Gonosen no Kata) that was established in 1955 Korea, according to changing of techniques by Judo's modernization, in order to have Judo's carefulness and systematic diffusion. Reform procedure of Judo's Doechigi-Bon was 1st stage, Questionnaire survey 303 judokas, 2nd stage, Technical seminar by judo experts(12 judo professor) 4 times, 3rd stage, wording report for reform, 4rd stage, Discussion and judgement of Teaching and Judgement commission of Korean judo Association(KJA), 5th stage, Public hearing for reform in KJA, 6th stage, Report and decision of board of directors in KJA, 7th stage, public publication of Judo News(No.53) in KJA.         이하선관 절단의 임상적 고찰

        본 병원에 내원한 절단된 이하선관 환자 총 20명(남자:10명 여자 10명)중 4명을 제외한 16명에서 추적조사가 가능하였으며 이 중 14명에서 이하선관의 원활한 관통이 이루어졌고 1명에서 관의 폐세기 생겨 2차 수술이 필료 했으며 다른 1명의 경우 농의 배출이 있었으나 항생제 투여와 구강위생등으로 별 다른 문제 없이 치료 되었고 또 1례의 이하선 타석을 치험하여 보고하는 바이다. Due to increasing trend of traffic accident, number of patient has been gradually increased. Facial injury, for its anatomical vulnerability, is most common site of injury and greatly exceeding injuries of other body region in trauma patient. There are occasional report of Stensen`s duct damage accompanying facial injury and much problem can arise when first aid is performed without knowledge of anatomy or concern for patient. Generally, Stensen`s duct located at mid 1/3 portion of line passing through tragus of ear and subnasale, another word, above the masseter muscle. Once deep lacerated wound has occurred in this region, one must suspect damage of Stensen`s duct. Among the 20 patients (Male: 10, Female:10) who have beeb treated at Chonnam National University Hospital for severed Srensen`s duct, 14 cases have obtained favorable result, not counting 4 patients with whom follow-up study was not possible. In unsuccessful cases of two, 1 case required secondary operation due to occurance of ductal stricture. In another case, leakage of pus has been observed but with proper oral care and antibiotic administration, it has been treated withiut any difficulty. Facial nerve injury accompanying Stensen`s duct been frequently observed, buccal branch being the most common site of involvement. Time interval from severance of duct to repairing the duct was 7 to 21 hours on average and time delay of this level has not impose much limit to obtain successful result. Suture material for Dowel, no matter what kind used, has achieved favorable result and time interval of 9 to 21 days given before the removal was long enough to obtain successful operative result without any development of complication. It is generally accepted view that salivary stone is most common disease entity among the salivery glands and ducts, and stone mostly occur in submandibular duct and rarely in Stensen`s duct. We have performed end-to-end anatomosis using a 23 guage polyethylene catheter as a Dowel in severed duct in 20 patients who have been admitted our hospital for cut repair and obtained satisfiable result. In 1 case, we have experienced stone on the Stensen`s duct, therby reporting this case with through reviews of literature.

        This paper was the study on the change of the water quality an water quality management of reservior when Yong-dam dam constructed. The results obtained are as follows, water quality of river in surroundings area was BOD 1-2 ㎎/ℓ, TKN 1 ㎎/ℓ, T-P 0.03-0.013 ㎎/ℓ. Results from calculatin of the pollution loading of conteminations according to environmental factor, water quality was calculated to BOD 0.87 ㎎/ℓ, T-N 0.07 ㎎/ℓ. Because of increased of inlet nutrient, nutrient conditions in Yong-dam reservior will generated to eutrophication. Therefore, methods for control and management nutrition conditions are must be intercept and control to inflow of nutrient that included to water and wastewater.

      • 다단계 임계치를 이용한 패턴 디지털 워터마킹

        Digital Watermarking is a research area which aims at hiding secret information in digital multimedia contents such as image, audio, and video. In this paper, we propose a new watermaking method with visually recongnizable pattern into the digital image using wavelet transform, spread spectrum method and multilevel threshold value in considering the wavelet coefficients. The watermark information can be extracted by subtracting wavelet coefficients between the origitnal image and orginal image and the watermarked image. The esperimental results show that the prosposed technique is invisible watermarking and robust to JPEG lossy compression, resizing, masking, and filtering.

        호주의 유전자변형생물체(Genetically Modified Organisms) 안정성 심사절차 및 유전자변형식품의 표시제도

        1. 호주는 GMO의 실험 및 상업화를 규제하는 신법 "유전자기술에 관한 법(Gene Technology Act 2000)을 제정 운영중임 2. GMO를 관리 감독하기 위하여 보건후생성산하에 유전자기술 감독국(Office of the Gene Technology Regulator)이 신설됨 3. GMO를 취급(dealings)형태에 따라서 면제(exemption), 위험이 매우적은 취급(notifiable low risk dealing), 면허(licensing), 등록(register)의 4가지로 분류하여 감독함 4. GM식품의 안전성 심사는 호ㆍ뉴식품청(Australia New Zealand Food Authority, ANZFA)에서 관장하며 호주식품 강령 기준 18(Standard A18 of the Australian Food Standards Code)이 근거 법임 5. ANZFA에서는 제초제 저항성 콩, 옥수수, 면화, 감자, 카놀라 등 6작물 12종의 GM작물에 대하여 식품안정성 확인을 완료함 6. 호주에서는 2001년 12월 7일부터 유전자변형식품의 의무 표시제를 시행하고 있으며 비의도적 혼입 허용치는 1%로 설정함 As Australia's new national gene technology regulatory system began on 21 June 2001, the Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) was newly established to regulate GMO related research and GM products throughout the nation. "Gene Technology Act 2000" is the statutory basis the new regulatory system. The OGTR is within the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care, responsible for overseeing the gene technology research and development including the GMO field trials across Australia. For the regulation of genetically modified food, the Australia New Zealand Food Authority(ANZFA) is responsible for developing and reviewing national food standards. All foods available for sale in Australia and New Zealand must comply with the relevant national food standards. ANZFA also responsible for carrying out safety assessments of GM foods on behalf of the Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments of Australia and the Government of New Zealand. The ANZFA's safety assessment process for GM foods is based on concepts and principles that have been developed through international organizations such as the World Health Organization(WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO) and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development(OECD). Mandatory labelling of GM foods containing either introduced DNA or protein in the final food came into effect on 7 December, 2001.

      • Interspecific and Intraspecific Variation in Pollen Grains of Quercus Subgenus Lepidobalanus Endl. in Korea

        Palynological characters such as pollen grain polar axis length (PL), pollen equatorial diameter (ED), colpus length, colpus width, and P/E ratio of six species of Quercus subgenus Lepidobalanus Endl. from Korea were studied. A significant interspecific variation, unequal distances between the species, and various degree of intraspecific variations were found. The taxonomic value of the pollen morphology parameters measured was found to vary according to species. These results suggest a possible relationship between parameters measured and ploidy level of the Quercus species studied.

        Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods : For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results : In 1997. 99 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 45(45.5%) were PPNG. Conclusion : The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 45.5% in 1997.

      • 콘크리트의 급속염화물침투시험에 의한 염화물이온 확산계수 평가에 관한 실험적 연구

        Chloride ions are considered to be the major cause of steel corrosion in concrete structures exposed to seashore environments and also permeation of chloride is controlled by chloride diffusion. Therefore, the study on chloride diffusion of concrete have been done so far by many researchers. In this study, several factors such as capacity of voltage, time of an electric current, concentration of NaCl solution, water-cement ratio, and temperature of the solution were examined to grasp what influence they were on the chloride ion diffusion properties using the Rapid Chloride Penetration Test(RCPT) by electrophoresis. Also standing on the basis of the such result application possibility of Rapid Chloride Penetration Test(RCPT) used in this study will be evaluated and the basic data on the durability design for the chloride attack will be suggested.
