        In Vitro Antiviral Activity of Ribavirin Against Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome Virus Myung Jin LEE1, Kye-Hyung KIM1, Jongyoun YI2, SuJin CHOI1, Chung-Jong KIM1, Nak- Hyun KIM1, Kyoung-Ho SONG1, Pyoeng Gyun CHOI1, Ji-Hwan BANG1, Wan Beom PARK1, Eu Suk KIM1, Sang-Won PARK1, Hong Bin KIM1, Nam Joong KIM1, Myoung- Don OH1 Seoul National University College of Medicine, Korea1, Pusan National University School of Medicine, Korea2 Background: Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an emerging infectious disease caused by a novel Bunyavirus, severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV). No effective antiviral therapy is proven yet, but clinical use of ribavirin (RBV) has been tried. We investigated the antiviral effect of RBV against SFTSV in vitro. Methods: To test for cytotoxicity of RBV, Vero cells were treated with different concentrations of RBV (3.90 to 500 μg/mL, two-fold dilution) and analyzed by cell viability MTS assay 48h post-infection. To determine antiviral activity of RBV against SFTSV, Vero cells were infected with SFTSV strain Gangwon/Korea/2012 at 100 TCID50 (50% tissue culture infective dose) per well in a 96-well plate, and RBV was added at the concentrations showing no or minimal cytotoxicity. Viral RNAs were extracted from the culture supernatants and quantifi ed using one-step real-time reverse transcription- PCR to amplify the partial large segment of SFTSV. Statistical analysis was done by one-way ANOVA with Tukey`s post hoc test. Results: Cytotoxicity due to RBV was not observed at RBV concentration =31.3 μg/ mL. Viral RNAs at 24h post-RBV treatment were reduced with increasing RBV concentrations (1-32 μg/mL), compared with those of mock-treated cells (P <0.01, Figure). Half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of RBV was 3.69 μg/mL at 24h post-RBV treatment. Conclusions: Our study shows that RBV has antiviral effect against SFTSV in a dose-dependent manner. Further studies are required to evaluate the effi cacy of RBV in SFTS.

        In this paper, we propose a new 3-dimensional cooperative authoring tool the environments. In this method, we clearly define the roles of authors Involved In the cooperation and extend the functionality of the each client system, and thus reducing the overload in server systems and/or the network bottleneck than existing client-server models, while minimizing the locking delays of the existing pessimistic locking mechanism. In addition, we use scene-graphs of Java 3D to represent the rapidly changing scenes vividly 본 논문에서는 새로운 3차원 협동 저작 기법에 대해 설명한다. 이 방법에서는 협동 저작에 참여하는 작업자에 대한 명확한 역할 구분과 클라이언트의 기능 확장을 통해, 기존의 클라이언트-서버 구조가 갖는 서버 부담 및 네트워킹 병목 현상을 완화하는 한편, 기존의 '비관적 잠금 기법'에서 발생하는 작업 공유에 따른 불필요한 대기 시간을 줄인다. 또한 자바 3D의 '장면 그래프'를 이용하여 장면을 표현함으로써 실시간 장면 정보의 변화를 빠르고 쉽게 반영하였다.

        This study was designed to exam the aged's needs for spiritual nursing care. The purpose was to serve as a basis for the development of spiritual nursing practice. The major findings are as follows : 1. The degree of needs for spiritual nursing care as area was that needs of love and relationship mean 22.0, needs of meaning and object mean 28.2, needs of forgiving mean 13.5. Total needs for spiritual nursing care mean 63.7, which was on the upper middle level. The needs of meaning and object was rated highest. 2. Among the general characteristics of the subjects, needs of love and relatiohship wasn't significanlty different. 3. Among the general characteristics of the subjects, needs of meaning and object was significantly different according to two factors : age(F=7.260, p=0.001), religion(F=5.275, p=0.001). Higher needs of meaning and object was possessed by the older than the younger, by the one who have religion than the other. 4. Among the general characteristics of the subjects, four factors made a significantly difference to needs of forgiving : sex(t=-2.851, p=0.006), age(F=8.201, p=0.001), religion(F=6.928, p=0.000), disease(t=2.327, p=0.024). Higher needs of forgiving was possessed by man than woman, by the older than the younger, by the one who have religion than the other, by the one who have disease than the other.

        쇼핑호스트에 대한 의사인간관계가 홈쇼핑 TV에 대한 태도 및 구매의도에 미치는 영향 : 지각된 위험과 지각된 혜택의 매개효과를 중심으로

        Home-shopping in cable TV is considered as one of the important channels by innovative changes for the shopping. In this process, shopping hosts take a great portion, but they are not weighted in other studies. This study explores various emotions for the shopping hosts in the field of parasocial interaction and examines how those emotions affect to purchase intention. Also, the study can see over how perceived risk, perceived benefit, and attitude for the CATV home-shopping have an impact on the purchase intention. In the result, as parasocial interaction with shopping-hosts would grow, perceived risk for home-shopping is reduced, meanwhile perceived benefit is grown. Perceived risk can mediate purchase intention, and perceived benefit also can moderate attitude for homeshopping and purchase intention. It could mean that consumers can have positive image for CATV home-shopping under the conditions that parasocial interaction with shopping-hosts would be grown. The result can show that CATV home-shopping should attempt to establish parasocial interaction in order to take upper hands against open markets and internet shopping malls.

        Many cutaneous reactions have been known to occur within resolved herpes zoster lesions. These include granuloma annulare, pseudolymphoma, lymphoma, granulomatous vasculitis, lichen planus and other dermatoses. The pathogenesis of these reactions remains unclear and it has been proposed that they may represent isotopic response. A dermatomal distribution in lichen planus is very rare. We report here a case of zosteriform lichen planus that was developed on the site previously affected by herpes zoster. (Korean J Dermatol 2004;42(2):217~219)

        Coccidioidomycosis is a fungal infection that results from inhaling the airborne arthroconidia of the Coccidioides species. It is an endemic disease in the southwest part of North America and rarely diagnosed in Korea. As tourism to endemic areas and the number of immunocompromised patients have been increasing, the incidence of this infection has increased in non-endemic areas. Treatment is usually successful with antifungal agents; however, recurrence is common. It is difficult to decide when to discontinue the antifungal treatment especially in non-endemic areas where doctors are not familiar with the disease. We report a case of recurrent coccidioidomycosis manifesting as osteomyelitis after the treatment of the patient for disseminated coccidioidal infection. The complement fixation test was a useful tool for the assessment of patient response and to evaluate suspected recurrence.

        국내 의료종사자에서 HHV-8의 항체양성률에 대한 연구

        HHV-8 virus is known to be associated with Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) in HIV seropositive patients and its seroprevalence has geographic difference, In South Korea, incidence of KS is low not only in general population but also in HIV patients compared to other countries, It is speculated that low seroprevalence of HHV-8 has contributed to the low incidence of KS in South Korea. We examined the seroprevalence of anti HHV-8 IgG of HIV seronegative health care workers in one University hospital. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) was used for diagnosis. One person (0.6% 1/164) was seropositive, six were equivocal (3.7%,6/164) and 157 people were seronegative (95.73%, 157/164). This study revealed that seroprevalence of HHV-8 in general population was. low in South Korea. Further studies are needed to be carried out to evaluate the low HHV-8 seroprevalence in Korea.

        폴록사머 및 프로필렌글리콜을 이용한 클로트리마졸 고형 좌제의 물리화학적 특성

        To develop a clotrimazole-loaded solid suppository with poloxamer and propylene glycol, the melting points of various formulations composed of poloxamer 188 (P 188) and propylene glycol were investigated. The dissolution study of clotrimazole delivered by the suppository composed of P 188 and propylene glycol was performed. The mixtures composed of P 188 and propylene glycol were homogeneous. Propylene glycol affected the melting points of poloxamer mixtures. In particular, the mixture [P 188/propylene glycol (70/30%)] with the melting point of about 32°C was a solid form at room temperature and instantly melted at physiological temperature. Furthermore, propylene glycol affected greatly the dissolution rates of clotrimazole from the suppository. Dissolution mechanism analysis showed the dissolution of clotrimazole was proportional to the time. Our results indicated that the solid suppository with P 188 and propylene glycol would be a candidate of rectal dosage form for clotrimazole.

      • 섬록암폐석을 이용한 폴리머 콘크리트의 특성 및 제품 개발

        우리나라에서는 각종 광산으로 부터 폐석이 다량으로 발생되고 있다. 이와같은 폐석의 부가가치를 높일 수 있는 방안의 모색이 절실한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 강원도 춘천지역의 섬록암 광산에서 다량으로 발생되고 있는 폐석을 활용하여 고강도이며, 내구성이 우수한 폴리머 콘크리트를 제조하고, 이에 대한 물리·역학적 특성을 실험적으로 구명하였다. 또한 섬록암 폐석을 이용한 폴리머 콘크리트를 사용하여 플륨, 경계석, 보도블럭, 기와 등과 같은 공장제품을 제조하여 이에 대한 효율적 활용 방안을 제시하였다. Large amount of mine waste have been produced and acumulated from various mining works in korea. Mine wastes causes many adverse invironmental impacts and it is urgently required t develop methods to increase its value by resuing in construction materials and other products. The dbjectives of the study were to develop a high strength and durable high quality polymer concrete by using Diorite mine wastes that are produced from mines in Chunchon area, and to experimentally test the physical and mechanical properties of the concrete. Also, effective reuse methods for the Diorite mine wastes were suggested by developing flumes, curb stones, foot path blocks and roof tiles with the polymer concrete.

      • 연속회분식 반응기를 이용한 축산 폐수의 생물학적 고도 처리 운전 인자 도출에 관한 연구

        축산폐수는 고농도의 유기탄소 뿐만아니라 영양염류를 포함하는 대표적인 고농도 폐수이며 적절히 처리되어지지 못할 경우 심각한 담수의 부영양화와 연안의 적조를 야기할 수 있다. 이러한 축산폐수를 보다 경제적이며 기술적으로 처리하기 위해 본 연구에서는 연속회분식반응기(SBR)을 이용한 축산폐수의 고도처리에 적용할 수 있는 운전인자와 운전기법을 연구하였다. 초기 암모니아와 유기탄소부하를 달리하며 정해진 주기로 운전하는 네 가지 전형적인 회분식 실험과 원수를 연속으로 주입하면서 간헐 폭기로 운전하는 세 가지의 변형회분식 반응 실험을 통하여 전형적인 SBR에서 비 질산화 속도에 가장 많은 영향을 미치는 인자가 초기 pH 와 유리 암모니움 농도이며 최적 초기 암포니아성 비 질소 부하율은 0.1 ~ 0.15 kg NH_4^+-N /kg VSS 근처이며 이때 비 질산화율은 0.06 kgNH_4-N/ kg MLVSS·day로 관찰되었으며, 변형 SBR로 운전하는 경우 최소 35%에서 최대 65% 까지 탈질용 외부기질 주입량을 절감할 수 있었다. Piggery wastewater is a representative of high strength wastewater which contents not only high concentration organic carbon but also nutrients. From this reason piggery wastewater could be cause a serious eutrophication of fresh water and red tide in coastal areas if not properly treated. In this study to treat these piggery wastewater technically and more economically, the operation parameters and methods for advanced treatment using Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) were investigated. Four sets of experiments were conducted on laboratory scale typical SBR (Fill in a time) with fixed cycle and different till ratio to evaluate most proper initial loading of organic carbon and nitrogen and three sets of experiments on laboratory scale inodified SBR (Fill continuously) with intermittent aeration. As results the nitrification rate was most sensitively affected by intial pH and free ammonia concentration and in typical SBR operation most profit initial specific nitrogen loading were investigate around 0.1~0.15kg NH_4^+-N /kg VSS and in this range the average specific nitrification rate was 0.06 kg NH_4-N/ kg MLVSS·day. And in modified SBR operation with most profit specific nitrogen loading rate the cost of external denitrification cost were saved minimum 35% to maximum 65% each experimental sets.
