Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.

The microcomputer control of a brushless do motor without a shaft position sensor is implemented. The motor produces a trapezoidal back EMF voltage. The control system is operated by two phase feeding. In the two phase feeding mode, it is possible to obtain the rotor position data from the terminal votage which is not conducting. Microcomputer reads the positon data from the terminal voltage and output the data to the inverter control module. Experimental results show that this system is application to the low power drives of less than one hp for low performance such as fan, pumps and fome appliances.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the kinematical traits variables when performing Uchimata(inner thigh reaping throw) by Voluntary Resistance Levels(VRL) and two postures of Like in Judo. The subjects, who were one male judoka(YH) for 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, and one male trainee Y. I. University representative member(SDK) and were filmed on two S-VHS 16 mm video cameras(60fields/sec.),that posture of Like were Shizenhontai(straight defensive posture) and Jigohontai(straight natural posture), VRL of like were 0% and 100%. The kinematical variables were temporal(total time-required:TR), potures and COG variables etc., The data of this study collection were digitized by SIMI Motion Program computed the mean values and the standard deviation calculated for each variables. When performing according to each posture and VRL, from the data analysis and discussion, the conclusions were as follows : 1. Temporal variables : total time-required(TR) when performing Uchimata was shown the shortest time YH than SDK by each posture and VRL. TR of each posture were shown the shorten trends or equal in DP by lower than NP, In existence and / or nonexistence of VRL was shown the shorten trends in VRL 0% than 100% of Like. 2. Posture variables : In attacking right knee angle, YH was performing flexion(147→103degree) from Tsukuri(set-up) to Kake(execution) in regardless of postures and VRLs, SDK was performing not exchange extension and flexion in VRL 100%, and extension(120i142degree) in VRL 0%, respectively. In supporting left knee angle, YH was perfoinring extension(1194163degree) from Tsukuri(set-up) to Kake(execution) in regardless of postures and VRLs, SDK extension(934 139degree), respectively. In attacking right hip angle, from Tsukuri to Kake, YH was performing extension(1334 169degree), except in VRL 0%(156 i137degree) NP, SDK was performing flexion(159i126degree) accept in VRL 100%(149 i152degree) NP, In left hip angle, from Tsukuri to Kake, YH was performing flexion NP(70, 50degree) more than DP(27, 57degree), SDK was performing flexion DP(73, 52degree) more than NP(34, 20degree). 3. COG variables : When performing Uchimata, vertical COG variables was shown YH(:2-8cm), SDK(:15-24cm) lower than Uke's COG level position, in existence and / or nonexistence of postures and VRL, during Kake as maximum force point of throwing techniques in Judo.

배자와 태아에서 하악골의 형태발생 및 교원질 발현에 관한 면역조직화학적 연구

치아 위치에 영향을 미치는 악안면의 성장 발육에서 Meckel 연골발생전 후의 하악골 형성과정과 교원 단백질 분포 및 발현정도를 알아보고자 좌고를 측정하여 태령을 결정한 후 4주부터 38주까지 50례의 배자와 태아를 대상으로 통법에 따른 조직절편을 제작하였으며 Hematoxylin과 Eosin, Alcian blue-pas와 Goldner의 Masson Trichrome 염색, 그리고 제1형과 제2형 교원 단백질에 대한 면역조직화학 염색을 시행하였다. 좌고 20.5 MM 배자에서 Meckel 연골이 출현하였으며, 좌고 22mm에서 38mm까지 하악골 외방에 신생골을 형성하고, 좌고 60mm태아에서 Meckel 연골이 점유하던 공간이 신생골로 채워져 연골내골화가 뚜렸하게 관찰되었으나, 좌고 240mm에서 Meckel 연골이 거의 소실되었다. 교원질에 대한 면역 염색결과에서 Mackel 연골 출현전 제1형 교원질 발현은 주로 상, 하악돌기의 구강상피에 국한되어 관찰되었고 제2형교원질 발현은 상대적으로 약간 적었다. Meckel 연골 출현 및 신생골 형성시기는 제1형교원질이 주로 치제상피와 신생골에서 약양성의 발현을 보였으며, Meckel 연골 및 신생골에서는 제1형보다 제2형의 교원질이 많이 발현되었다. 막내골화시기에는 제1형 교원질이 골아세포 및 골기질에서 중등도로 발현되었으나, 제2형에서는 경미하게 나타나 Meckel 연골형성전 후 제2형에서 제1형으로 발현전환이 있었다. Underlying malocclusions and dentofacial deformities are often related to variations in the craniofacial development. Type I and type Ⅱcollagens are considered the major collagens of bone and cartilage respectively. Monitoring the patterns of those protein expressions during development will provide a basis for the understanding of normal and abnormal growths. This study was undertaken to investigate the morphogenetic changes and the expression patterns of type I and Ⅱcollagen proteins involved in the developing mandible of human embryos and fetuses. 50 embryos and fetuses were studied with Hematoxylin and Eosin, Alcian blue-PAS, Masson Trichrome, and Immunohistochemical stains. The results were as follows: 1. A 13.5mm embryo showed the stomatodeum with dental lamina, maxillary and mandibular processes. Meckel's cartilage appeared in the mandibular arch of a 20.5mm embryo. New bone formation was bilaterally initiated at the outer side of middle portion of Meckel's cartilage of 22-38 mm embryos. 2. Meckel' cartilage was resorbed at the 15th week fetus. The endochondral ossification was observed where there was direct replacement of cartilage by bone. Meckel' cartilage disappeared and membraneous ossification were observed at the 25th week. 3. Before the appearance of Meckel's cartilage, the expression of type I collagen was moderate at the odontogenic epithelium of maxillary & mandibular process, but mild for the expression of type Ⅱ collagen. 4. During the appearance of Meckel's cartilage and new bone formation, the immunoactivity of type Ⅱ collagen was more expressed than type I collagen at the Meckel's cartilage and new bone. 5. During intramembranous bone formation, the expression of type Ⅱcollagen was rare in the bony trabeculae. There was a switch for the expression of collagens from type Ⅱto type I during the appearance of Meckel's cartilage.

알코올성 췌장염 환자에서 CYP2E1 유전자형의 다형성

Cytochrome P4502E1(CYP2E1) is inducible by ethyl alcohol and activates procarcinogenic N-nitrosodimethylamine(NDMA), benzene, urethane and other lower molecular weight compound. CYP2E1 is also involved in metabolism of certain drugs, for example, alcohol, acetaminophen, tamoxifen, theophylline, flouorinated anesthetics, and chlorozoxazone. CYP2E1 activity was shown to be polymorphically distributed in humans and has been suggested to play a role in hepatocellular carcinoma and alcoholic related disorders. Although genetic predispodition to alcoholism and alcoholic liver disease has been reported, genetic susceptibility to alcoholic pancreatitis is still a matter of debate. The aims of this study were to investigate the allelic frequency of CYP2E1 Rsa I polymorphism in Koreans with alcoholic pancreatitis patients. We investigated the frequency distribution of CYP2E1 Rsa I polymorphism in 212 unrelated healthy Koreans and 64 alcoholic pancreatitis patients. Detection of the CYP2E1 alleles was performed by polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length analysis. The genomic DNA was isolated from peripheral blood with conventional phenol: chloroforn extraction method. The allelic frequencies of c1 and c2 in healty volunteers were 0.85 and 0.15, respectively. The allelic frequencies of c1 and c2 in alcoholic pancreatitis patients were 0.8 and 0.2, respectively. The rare type (c2/c2) of CYP2E1 Rsa I polymorphism was 0.005 and 0.031 (p<0.001) in healthy volunteers and alcoholic pancreatitis patients, respectively. However, the CYP2E1 genotype showed no significant relation to the alcoholic pancreatitis patients. It was suggested that the risk of alcoholic pancreatitis diagnosed clinically seem to be not associated with the CYP2E1 genotype.

電流 制御形 共振形 컨버터를 위한 大信號 및 小信號 모델

Recently resonant converter is being widely used and studied throughout the industrial applications. However, it is too difficult to understand the general conception of resonant converter because of the analysis of power circuits and various output control methods. This paper gives the general conception of resonant converter power circuits and describes the various output control methods. In this paper the pulse width modulation using discontinuous conduction mode is applied to a fullbridge series resonant converter to regulate the output from no load to full load with low switching loss and with a narrow range of frequency variation. Finally, a simple nonlinear discrete-time dynamic model for this converter is derived using approximation. This discrete time model is linearized and a general input - output transfer function for the converter is derived.

Chinese women, generally in Confucian society, could not freely choose their spouses and could not be independent economicaly of their husbands because they could not get a job until the Chinese Revolution in 1949. Since the first 5years Economic plan of 1949, China has enlarged its economy in scale and established the industrual stucture which might guarantee the women's economic activity participation, the women employment has been popular and important to Chinese economy. China began reform policy reached pinnacle in 1984. China had maintained the state of full employment without the unemployed until 1979, because everyone who looked for a job could find it with a policy of full employment. Under this fixed manpower arrangement system, which led to excessive employment, workers were paid through time rate. Althogh 100 workers were just enough for the production faciliies, the fixed arrangement system placed more than 100 workers to maintain the full employment. Then workers of some plants worked 3 or 4 hours per day, below the average working hours. Also some plants maintained the worned-out facilities which should have been replaced. As the fixed arranement system was enforced well, even ignoring the productivity, equalities beteen sexes in working place could be achieved. The reform of economic system made it possible to dispose the worned-out facilities and decrease excessive employment to increase the effciency of production. In 1986, China changed the employment policy from the fixed arrangement system, which did not allow workers to transfer, to the contract engagement system. Thus workers could transfer to the other plant and could be fired by the plant managers. Wage system was also changed from the time-rate basa to the mixed base, which coordinates time-rate and outcome-rate system to establish the principle of distribution based on worker's ability. Before the employment and wage system were changed, most of the urban women could be employed. Because sexual equalites were adcieved and the policies of lower wage and higher employment rate were carried on. Women could be treated equally with men in wage system, working condition and job securities. After the economic system reform, China accepted the concepet of competition, which introduced the cintract employment system and the production responsibility system of contract job. Even though women employment rate decreased and women were treated with discrimination. During the economic system reform, some problems have arisen in the employment of female woekers. First, women workers were abvoided from going to because of the loss of productivity due to maternity leave and child care, and the higer cost for women welfare facilities. Second, women workers were excluded in the demanded reorientation process of labor forces. In order to avoid sexual discrimination toward women workers, five suggestions will be presented. First, women workers should increase adaptiblity and flexibility in working place by the imlprovement of skill and the development of ability. Thus women workers are able to increase the competitive consciousness through the enhancement of self-confidence, self-esteem and self-reliance. Next, government should guarantee the fair employment opportunity by legalization. There is yet and law, stipulating the sexual equality in empolyment, while the Chinese constitution broadly provides it. Third, the flexble employment system should be adopted so that women workers may choose their jobs on the basis of their abilities and aptitudes. Fourth, the trend of looking down on women in the needed reorientation process of labor forces should be uprooted. Last, goverment should decrease the costs of company through enlarging the social compensating and strengthening the social security system for the child birth. Mao tse-tung established sexual equality under his orthodox model of socialistic model which resulted the low productivity. But Deng Xiaoping's reform-minded economic model could increase productivity on the basis of the efficiency principle of marketoriented economy, but it caused the sexual discrimination as a side effect. The controversial point is that women workers continue to go to work under Deng's model or wait for a new economic model to insure the sexual equality in Chinese society with harmony between socialism and Confucianism. Many women groups concluded that the women liberation should proceed with the level of social productivity, therefore the goal of women liberation is to be subjected to the current level of social productivity. Accordingly, it can be interpreted that Chinese women have to undergo existing sexual inequality somehow in the current stage of Chinese economic development in order to improve productivity which is a precondition for the liberation of women.

수종 교정용 Band의 세포독성에 관한 실험적 연구

The purpose of this study was to investigate the cytotoxicity of orthodontic bands in vitro and in vivo.4 types of orthodontic bands were applied to cultured fibroblast and the supernatants were injected into dorsal subcutaneous tissue of mice. In vitro, the cytotoxixity was evaluated by an MTT assay after 2 and 6days. IN vivo, the histopathologic observation was performed 2 days after injection. The results were: 1. The cell viability was significantly decreased in the group added phosphoric acid in comparison to control group, but there was not any significance among the experimental group after 2 days. 2. Cell viability decreased in the high Ni containing group after 6 days. 3. The histopathological finding was that the Cr-containing group showed severe infiltration of inflammatory cells and muscular destruction.

유과의 미주 현지인 기호도 조사

본 연구는 우리나라 대표적인 전통식품중의 하나인 유과를 미국 현지인들에게 수출하고자 포장, 디자인 등을 개선하여 미국인 262명에게 2002년 8-9월 중 기호도 조사를 실시한 것으로써 조사대상자의 성별분포는 남자 45.8%, 여자 54.2%, 연령분포는 10대 41.6%, 20대 58.4%, 인종분포는 백인이 84.0%, 흑인은 8.8%, 히스페닉인은 7.1%이었다. 유과의 포장상태는 전체 응답자중 82.7%는 만족하였으며 포장디자인은 22.0%가 매우 만족하고 54.4%가 만족하는 것으로 나타났으며 인쇄는 69.8% 이상이 만족한 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 조직감은 48.5%로 만족정도가 다른 항목에 비해 낮았지만 맛과 함께 평가된 향미의 항목에서는 만족도가 60.9%로 상승하였음을 알 수 있었으며 유과에 대한 전반적인 기호도는 92.7%로 응답자 대부분의 기호에 적합하다고 답하였다. This study was to investigate the preference test of among 10's and 20's in New York, Atlanta, Chicago and Sanfrancisco in USA. Preference of packaging, design, printing, flavor, texture and overall preference was surveyed. About thirty percent of the respondents showed high score in packaging among the items. The design and color of Yukwa was 22.0% and 24.1% in “excellent”. Americans did not prefer the texture due to stickiness of Yukwa. However, 92.7% of the respondents showed high score in overall acceptability of Yukwa, On the basis of this result, Yukwa would be develope for residential people's preference. It is possible to export successfully the Korean traditional snack, Yukwa.
