전압제어형 PIN 다이오드 감쇄기 설계를 위한 새로운 PIN 다이오드 모델

본 연구에서는 전압제어형 PIN 다이오드 감쇄기에 사용될 수 있는 새로운 PIN 다이오드 모델을 제안하였다. 종래의 PIN 다이오드 모델의 문제점인 DC해석과 전압/감쇄 특성의 오류의 원인을 분석하였고 분석된 결과를 바탕으로 종래 모델의 문제점을 해결할 수 있는 새로운 PIN 다이오드 모델을 제시하였다. 제시된 모델은 간단한 구성으로 상용 시뮬레이터에 쉽게 삽입되어질 수 장점이 있다. 모델의 유용성을 검증하기 위하여 전압제어형 감쇄기를 설계하여 DC특성과 입력전압에 따른 감쇄특성을 실험한 결과 제시된 모델이 종래 모델이 갖는 문제점을 해결할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 전압제어형 감쇄기를 정확하게 설계할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 본 논문에서 제시된 모델은 PIN 다이오드를 이용한 다양한 초고주파 회로 설계시 적용되어질 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. This paper presents a new model that can precisely simulate the attenuation characteristics of the voltage-controlled PIN diode attenuators. After carefully investigating the problems in the conventional PIN diode models, a new PIN diode model was proposed and verified with experimental data. The proposed model is well operated when it is used in the voltage-controlled mode as well as current-controlled mode, and is simple and straightforward model, since the PN junction diode of this model has the same curve as that of the PIN diode. This model is very effective to design voltage-controlled attenuator and its implementation in commercial simulators is simple and accurate. This model will allow RF and Microwave designers to better use the PIN diodes in various circuits.
저전력 IoT 무선통신을 위한 스위치 배열 안테나 빔포밍

Beamforming technology has been extensively applied in the field of 5G mobile communication and radar in recent years; it has also been applied in technological fields where it was not previously utilized. Conventional beamforming technology cannot be applied immediately to low-power IoT wireless communication because of issues such as high power consumption and price; thus, single-channel beamforming technology capable of low-power operation using switched array antennas is required. Therefore, in this paper, we examine the characteristics of the Bluetooth 5.1 standard, according to which a recent switched array antenna single-channel beamforming technology is applied, along with the requirements of the beamforming technology in low-power IoT wireless communication. In addition, the experimental results of direction finding using a two-element switch array antenna are presented. Based on this, we suggest the implications of applying beamforming technology in various low-power IoT wireless communication fields.

In general, a direction finding system based on array antennas is implemented using a digital beamforming method with the same number of receivers as antennas, or using an RF beamforming method where a single receiver has a plurality of phase shifters. However, both approaches require complicated hardware configurations, which is a major disadvantage. In this paper, we propose a new method to generate 4-beam patterns using only two antennas and a single receiver with a sum and difference pattern of 180° hybrid, and the orthogonality of an I/Q demodulator. To verify the proposed method, we applied it to a Bluetooth direction finding system. The simulation results demonstrated that it is possible to implement an effective direction finding system using the proposed method.

Direction finding is a traditional technique that was initially used in radio surveillance. Since its inception, antenna-based direction finding technology has become the core technology in various fields, such as radar(to find the direction of the target) and mobile communication(where MIMO-based multi-antennas are used). Moreover, use of the direction finding technology in the field of IoT, such as in Bluetooth, is increasing. Thus, the importance of direction finding technology is growing in various fields. However, it continues to be treated as a sub-technology of radio surveillance, radar, and wireless communication. The aim of this paper is to help readers systematically understand direction finding technology. Accordingly, a systematic classification and analysis of each characteristic of direction finding technology, along with recent research and development trends for it, are discussed in the paper.

약 100년 전 미국에서 전파(電波, Radio Wave) 프런티어(Frontier) 시대가 시작된 이래 전파는 ICT산업의 기반 기술의 역할을 충실히 수행하고 있다. 최근에는 전파의 활용이 전통적인 통신, 방송, 국방 분야를 넘어 센싱, 보안, 의료, 무선전력전송 등 다양한 분야로 확장되고 있다. 이에 따라 용도지정에 따른 배타적인 주파수 사용을 기반으로 하는 기존의 전파정책으로는 급증하는 전파 수요를 충족할 수 없다. 이에 본 고에서는 최근 전파 이용이 급격히 확산되는 시기를 역사적으로 고찰하여 전파 르네상스 시대라고 명명하고, 이를 뒷받침할 미래 전파정책의 방향을 새롭게 제시한다.
