In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

N/A Clinical studies were carried out on 14,389 cases who had taken gastrofiberscopic examination, biopsy and X-ray from May, 1969 to May, 1984 in Han-Yang University Hospital. The results obtained were as follows; 1) Of total 14,389 cases, 7,916 were male and 6,473 were female. 55.1%, of the cases were in the 3rd and 4th decade. 2) Of total 14, 389 cases, 13, 615 showed abnormal endoscopic findings. In abnormal cases, male to female ratio was l.2: l.3) The incidence of single organ involved was 84.8% and multiple organs involved was In single organ involved cases, the most common site of disease was stomach and in multiple organ involved cases, the prevalent sites of lesions were stomach and duodenum. 4) The most frequent disease of stomach was gastritis followed by gastric ulcer. In the cases of duodenum, the most common disease was duodenal ulcer and the next was duodenitis. 5) The most prevalent disease was the chronic gastritis, and the frequency of the other upper gastrointestinal diseases was acute gastritis, gastric ulcer, stomach cancer and duodenal ulcer in orders. 6) The most frequent type of chronic gastritis was superficial gastritis. 7) Among the total cases which had been taken blood-typing, the incidence of most upper gastrointestinal diseases was not related to each blood type. But blood group 0 was common in peptic ulcer disease and blood group A in stomach cancer. 8) The clinical symptoms and signs were of no significant aid for the differential diagnosis of the various upper gastrointestinal diseases.

저자들은 하지 자색반과 고환 통증으로 내원한 알코올성 간경화증 환자에서 LCV의 원인 감별하는 과정에서 HCC와 하대정맥 막성폐쇄를 진단하고 이에 대한 치료 후 LCV의 호전된 증례를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Vasculitis is a heterogeneous group of diseases that destroy blood vessel walls by inflammation. Approximately half of vasculitis cases are idiopathic, but sometimes associated with genetic factors, medicines, chronic infection, autoimmune diseases, and malignancies. Although the mechanism remains unclear, vasculitis secondary to malignancy, also known as paraneoplastic vasculitis, has been reported. It is generally associated with hematologic malignancies rather than solid malignancies and commonly presents as leukocytoclastic vasculitis or polyarteritis nodosa. We experienced a case of leukocytoclastic vasculitis in a patient with hepatocellular carcinoma and membranous obstruction of the inferior vena cava. Seed sowing is the major method for the establishment of cool-season grasses at the soccer fields, golf courses, etc. Germination speed of kentucky bluegrass(Poa prantensis L.: KB) is much slower than the other cool-season grasses. This study was conducted to solve the problems at the early stage of establishment with KB. The best priming conditions of KB, drying method after soaking in the water, and covering materials will be selected. To reduce irrigation frequency and quantity for seed germination, seeds of KB were exposed to the different soaking temperature(4, 20, 25, 30℃). soaking durations(3, 6, 10, 13, 19, 23 days), storage periods(3, 6, 9 days), storage humidities(30, 50, 100%), shading rate(0, 50, 100%), drying methods(dry in the air, heating, mix soaked seed with profile=1:2), and covering materials(70% shade net, fiber net). The optimum soaking temperature and duration for the seed priming of KB were 20℃ and 10 days, respectively. The optimum storage period and humidity were 3 days and 100%, respectively, Under 50% shading, germination rate was the highest. In drying method after soaking, mixture of seeds and profile(1:2) was optimum for sowing. Using the thin fiber net as covering material after sowing was good for not moving seeds and improved germination speed and rate.

당뇨병환자에서 뇨증 Fibronectin농도의 증가에 관한 연구

Plasma fibronectin is an α₂-glyoprotein, which is produced by vascular endothelial cells. Raised level of plasma fibronectin has been observed in diabetic patients particularly in the presence of microvascular complications. However, no available data exist about urine level of this glycoprotein in diabetic patients. We measured urine fibronectin level by ELISA methods in 54 diabetic patients who have microvascular comlications or not. The following results were obtained. 1) Urine fibronectin level(㎍/g creatinine) in diabetic group(1740.0±678.0) is increased compaired with those in normal control group(471.0±59.0). but this results were not significantly different among two groups(P>0.05). 2) Urine fibronectin level(㎍/g creatinine) was significantly increased in patients with nephropathy (6188.0±3144.0) compared with those in normal control group(471.0±59.0) and patients without nephropathy(645.0±251.0)(P<0.001). 3) There were a significant correlation between BUN, creatinine, creatinine clearance, 24hr urine total protein and urine fibronectin level in diabetic patients. Our data suggest that urine fibronectin excretion level might be used as a sensitive guide for diabectic nephropathy.

기계적 합금화에 의해 제조된 고규소 Al-Si 합금 나노 결정의 특성

High silicon Al-Si alloys with nanocrystalline structures have been produced by mechanical alloying process. Microstructural changes of the Al-Si alloys were investigated by scanning electron microscopy and the transmission electron microscopy. X-ray diffraction analysis was also made to characterize the lattice constant, crystallite size and misfit strain. It was found that the effective milling time by attrition milling was about 12hours for Al-70 wt%Si alloy system. The Al and Si crystallites were reduced to about 30 nm and 70 nm, respectively, by the mechanical alloying for more than 12hours. The misfit strains increased with milling time UD to 240 hours, and saturated to 5.73×10^(-3) for Al and Si crystallites, respectively.

긴촌충(廣節裂頭條蟲) 感柒의 一例

韓國에서의 긴촌충(廣節裂頭條史) 感染例는 日制時 慶南地方 住民들의 大便檢査 증에 史卵이 觀索되었다는 報告가 있었고, 患者로부터 成忠을 얻어 報告한 例는 趙等(1971)이 報告한 1例 뿐이었다. 著者들은 14歲의 韓國少年으로부터 길이 685cm의 頭節이 없는 史體를 얻었다. 治療藥製는 Bithionol이었다. 忠體를 形態學論으로 檢討한 바 Diphyllobothrium latum(Linnaeus, 1758) Luhe, 1910으로 同定되었다. 患者는 그때까지 外國을 旅行한 經驗이 없었으며 市中에서 生鮮膾률 먹거나 약수터 또는 溪流의 물을 마신 記憶이 없고 더우기 뱀이나 개구리를 生食한 經驗은 전혀 없다고 한다. 다만 그는 本硏究室을 찾기 1年前 그의 父親을 따라 浦項으로 바다낚시를 간 일이 있으며 그곳에서 낚아 올린 농어( 魚)를 謄로 먹은 經驗이 있다고 하였다. 그러므로 本例의 感染源은 魚일 가능성이 많으며 分明한 것은 國內의 土着感染이란 점이다. , 國內에서 수시로 報告되는 sparganum症의 例로 보거나 中間宿主의 役割을 할 수 있다고 思料되는 甲穀類 및 魚類에 대한 報告와 韓國海洋의 魚類分布로 보아 韓國에서의 廣節裂頭條忠 感染率은 窓外로 높을지도 모른다. A case of Diphyllobothrium latum infection was recorded. A 14-year-old Korean boy was infected with this tape worm and treated with bithionol orally. An incomplete strobila without scolex and neck parts was collected. It was identified as D.latum on the basis of morpho1ogical characteristics. The most probab1e source of infection is autochthonous according to the past history of the patient. This is the second record of Diphyllo-bothrium latum infection in Korea which was verified with the recovery of the adult worm.

坡州郡 廣灘面에 있어서의 肺吸蟲症의 疫學的 推移

Paragonimiasis is a common trematodiasis of medical importance and one of public health problems in many areas of southern part of Korea. During the last sixty years, several surveys on the prevalence among the Korean population have been carried out by various investigators, although the general distribution and prevalence of paragonimiasis are not yet clearly determined. This study was undertaken to compare the status of human paragonimiasis in Kwang-Tan Myun, Pa Joo Gun by the use of intradermal screening test with Veronal buffered saline antigen. 1. In 1969, 27.9 per cent of the inhabitant examiners showed positive reaction, with sexual difference of 38.7 per cent in male and 8.3 per cent in female. 2. In 1977, 19.8 per cent of the inhabitant examiners showed positive reaction, with sexual difference of 31.9 per cent in male and 3.8 per cent in female. 3. In 1977, 1.9 per cent of the student examiners showed positive reaction. 4. In the inhabitant examiners, relarively higher positive rate was shown from the age group of 10 years in 1969, but it was shown from the age group of 40 years in 1977.

자연분해성 Polymer blend와 이 blend의 생분해에 관한 연구

Several strains capable, of degrading PEGs(Polyethylene Glycols) were isolated and studied for their biodegradation ability of PEGs. We have isolated the strains that used the PEG-compounds as a sole carbon and energy source. We have screened the strains that reduced the concentration of PEGs in the liquid culture. The biodegradability was about 18.8% in PEG-8000 and 25.4% in PEG-10000. In order to produce PEG-film, EMAA/PEG and EAA/PEG blending ability was tested with 1R spectrum. Therefore, the blend was possible to be produced. EMAA/PEG and EAA/PEG blend film were produced and tested on the biodegradation ability. As a result that was tested with ASTM method, it was found that some of the blend films have the biodegradability. And we have tested identification of cells used in this experiment. Cells were identified as Pseudomonas species and Flavobacterium species.
