      • 생쥐 위장관의 Interstitial cells of Cajal(ICC)에 대한 면역조직화학적 연구

        Background and Objectives : Interstitial cells of Cajal(ICC) are the pacemakers in gastrointestinal tract that modulates gastrointestinal motiliey and these cells also transmit neural input from enteric nerves to smooth muscles. Recent work on tissues from patients with motility disorders that suggest that loss or defect in ICC could be related to pathophysiology in human and animal models. Immunolabelling of ICC in intestinal wall is recently developed by using specific marker, anti-c-kit antibody. Immunohistochemistry was done for ICC network in attempt to provide a morphological basis for the mechanism regulating gastrointestinal motility Methods : Cryosection was done, and whole-mount preparations of mouse stomach, gastrointestinal tract were immunolabelled using the anti-c-Kit. Immunolabelled ICC networks were observed under a confocal laser scanning microscopy. Results : According to three dimensional reconstruction study, we found that the c-Kit-positive celluar networks were widely distributed in the gastrointestinal muscle (1) circular muscle layer(IC-IM), (2) myenteric plexus(IC-MY), (3) deep muscular plexus(IC-DMP) in ileum, (4) submucosal plexus(IC-SMP) and longitudinal muscle layer(IC-LM) in colon. Conclusion : The characteristic profiles of ICC celluar networks provide a morphological basis upon the mechanism regulating gastrointestinal motility. Additional studies for the enteric nerves-ICC interaction are need to evaluate the detailed roles of Icc in gastrointestinal tract.

        인터넷 중독 청소년들의 정신병리 및 대처 방식

        This study was conducted to investigate the differences in psychopathology and coping strategies among internet addictors, over users and non addictors in high school students. Subjects were 273 high school students in Seoul city. Self rating questionnaires included demographic data, Young’s Internet Addiction Scale, SCL-90-R, Beck Depression Inventory, Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, and The Way of Coping Strategy. Subjects were classified into 3 groups (addiction, over use, non addiction) by Internet Addiction Scale score. Prevalence of internet addiction was 4.3% and male adolescents were more addictive than female. Students who were mainly involved with internet chatting or game showed higher internet addiction score. The addiction group and over use group showed higher level of somatization, obsession, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, hostility, and paranoia than non-addicted group. Addiction group and over use group used passive coping strategies more frequently in the stressful situation than nonaddicted group. Also, the regression analysis for finding out causal factors that predicts internet addiction showed that emotion relieving strategy were important variable which predict internet addiction. Interpersonal sensitivity and emotion relieving coping strategy was important to predict addiction. This study showed that problematic internet use was closely associated with psychopathology and psychiatric comorbidity. And high interpersonal sensitivity and emotion relieving coping strategy were related with internet addiction in adolescence.

      • 재발성 류마티즘 환자에서 발작의 유발인자

        Background and Objectives : Palindromic rheumatism (PR) is known to be triggered without any obviously inciting events in most patients, although, in a few cases, attacks have been noted to relate to another events such as weather change, childbirth, ingestion of certain foods, or over-exercise. The aim of this study was to characterize the triggering factors on palindromic attacks. Materials and Methods : We evaluated sixty-four patients with PR for the presence of triggering factors and the relationship between attacks and triggering factors by interview of patients. We considered that there was an probable association between episodes and PR, if episodes within 24 hours prior to PR had triggered at least 50% of all attacks and a definite association between episodes and PR, if episodes within 24 hours prior to PR had triggered 100% of all attacks. Results : In 15 patients (35.9%), there was a possible association between episodes of PR and initiating events. In 8 patients (12.5%), there was a definite association between episodes of PR and initiating events. The triggering factors were physical over-activity including exercise (19/64: 29.7%), foods, such as rawfish, crab, and chicken, including alcohol (19/96: 19.8%). However, there were no difference between the groups with and without the triggering factor in sex ratio, duration and onset of PR, the positive rate of rheumatoid factor and involved sites. Conclusion : Our observations showed that PR was triggered by physical over-activity more than in previous reports and hypersensitivity to foods was a causative factor in some patients with PR. However, patients with triggering factors had a similiar clinical profile to patients without triggering factors.

        Aluminum-free low-modulus Ti–C composites that exhibit reduced image artifacts during MRI

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Feasibility studies were performed to determine the suitability of a novel synthesis technique for fabricating multifunctional composite materials for orthopedic implants. By blending paramagnetic Ti powder with diamagnetic graphite and consolidating the resulting mixtures, Ti–C composites that cannot be feasibly obtained via conventional alloying techniques or ingot metallurgy were synthesized. The synthesized composite material exhibited extremely low magnetic susceptibility (χ=67.6×10<SUP>−6</SUP>), and, as a result, exhibited fewer artifacts during magnetic resonance imaging. The strength of the composite material (σ=770MPa) was such that it could support external loads to which the human body is subjected, but its Young’s modulus was low (<I>E</I> =81.9 GPa) such that it could mitigate the stress-shielding effect. The material was also free from toxic elements such as Al and V and, thus, can be considered less harmful.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

      • 自生 山菜類의 開發에 관한 硏究

        In order to use as vegetable, studies on valuable wild plants-Pimpinella brachycarpa, Cryptotaenia japonica., Synurus deltoids., Solidago virga-aurea var. gigantean., Hemerocallis fulva. Were carried out by field observation and cultivation. The result were obtained as follow : 1. Pimpinella brachycarpa, Cryptotaenia japonica, Solidago virga-aurea var. gigantea were distributed at the higher altitude of 600M, but Synurus deltoids, Hemerocallis fulva were distributed under 500M. 2. Pimpinella brachycarpa, Cryptotaenia japonica, Solidago virga-aurea vat. Gigantean, Hemerocallis fulva except Synurus deltoids grew well on fertile soil in habitat. 3. The germination of Hemerocallis fulva were promoted at 25℃ under dark condition with Ethrel, whereas Synurus deltoides were promoted at 20℃ under dark condition with IBA treatment. 4. Te transplant seedlings of 5 plants, shading was necessary. Low light intensity under 5000Lux is recommended for low rate of bolting and for softening of tissue. 5. All 5 plants grew vigorously toward the end of July. 6. Plants would be harvested after 3 years with seed germination, but it would be desirable to transplant in order to reduce cultivation time. 7. It is desired that 5 plants should be subjected to suppressing or forcing cultivation.

      • 韓國 寺刹의 景觀과 植物相에 關한 硏究

        To investigate the traditional garden style of Korean temples, 22 renown Buddhist temples diversely located throughout Korea were chosen to survey the environmental landscape and vegetation along the entering way to the gate of these temples, inner and outer garden landscape and studied with special reference to the location and function of the garden, function of the landscaping plants, tree species planted an d landscaping facilities in site. The results are summarized as follow: 1. The present Korean Buddhist temples are built and chosen proper locations as space of Asceticism in the existing landscape and nature, with a traditional influence of the orient geographical theory called "Pungsu Giri Seol" forming philosophy of Taoism, Buddhism and Korean native Shamanism. 2. Buddhism-garden concept represents the highest natural resources-topography, trees: as it stands, with special reference to philosophy of Buddhism which has the real aim of spiritual awakening and deliverance as manifested by coexistence and harmony between nature and human being with the intention of forming space Asceticism. 3. Pinus densiflora and Quercus mongolica are the most frequently found tree species and remains of the natural vegetation around the temple site, while Quercus mongolica are regarded tree species as the substituted vegetation for pinus densiflora. Zelkova serreta are also frequently seen as mixed trees with some-other species in the vegetational stand, showing a sign of major artificial vegetation. Abies hollophylla as an evergreen species, flowering Prunus yedoensis, Acer formosum var. coreannum, and few other kinds of specific deciduous tree species are also found to consist of a minor artificial vegetation. Some Chamaecyparis obtusa, Cryptomeria japonica and Sasamorpha borealis are observed only in the southern region of Korea, but Betule latifolia and Paulownia coreana in the north that is usually called the central zone, indicating the man-made stand of tree species which are specifically well adapted to the given environmental conditions. No particular design of planting arrangement is found for the establishment of the entering way to these temples. The largest trees are more·obvious along edge of the road than the outer sides, again indicating tar fact that the trees art remains of an old vegetation and planted tree which have Bong beers protected by human existence nearby. The entering way to the gate of temples, "lljumoon" shows a typical of the canopied landscape with these tree stands and always accompainies valley stream by side. These represents the natural beauty of Buddhist temple at the natural vegetation partially substituted by artificial plantings and direct use of a simplicity of the great nature without certain modifications. 4. Composition of inner garden is formed by stone pagoda, stone lantern, stone lotus table and Daeung - jeon Hall. Samgharama arrangement has changed to single towered style →double towered style →free style. In Yi-dynasty it had been free style farther by succeeding to style of Zen Samgharama of Koryo dynasty. 5. Founded years and topography about woody vegetation planted in the inner garden is not able to find typical characteristics, and plants were planted in the inner garden for the following purposes. Fruit tress (Diospyroskaki, Ginkgo biloba, Juglans sinensis. Castanea crenata, etc.), ornamental plants (Viburnum pubinerve f. hydrangeoides, Prunus serrulata var. spontanea, Lagerstroemia indica, Cercis chinensis, Magnoliadenudata, etc.), and green shade trees(Diospyros kaki, Ginkgo biloba, Prunus serrulata var. spontanea, Acer formosum var, coreanum, etc.) are also found here. Temple gardens have simple, neat, well - organized beauty, whereas some Zen(禪) principle applied to the garden design and its ornamental purpose. 6. Outer gardens are seen as mixed planting with Quercus mongolica, Acer formosum var. coreanum, Zelkova serreta, and Pinus densifloru etc. in the vegetatiort stand. These are well conserved natural vegetation, whereas show that tree species are not homogeneous it an area. and it does not seem to have characteristic design of plant arrangement in man- made stand of tree species for the area. Above species (Quercus mongolia, Acer formosum var, coreanum, Zelkova serreta, Pinus densiflora, etc.) were showed landscape which was formed decorative hedge to given geograpical condition and ,satisfied with architectural function. 7. Streams in the temples permit landscape for an environmental creation and serve either as water surrounding and belting the temple site, and show a striking view of the enclosed landscape with Zelko serreta, Acer formosum var. coreanum, Styrax japonicus, etc. 8. Through the present studies of landscape and vegetation at the site of the Buddhist temples, one visualizes a firm necessity for protection and preservation of dignity of the temples, ancient appearance and landscape of the surrounding temples, which can be easily deteriorated by the gradual development and an increase in the number of people enjoying leisure there.

      • 유지 투석중인 만성 신부전환자에서 허혈성 심질환의진단 지표로서의 심장트로닌-I의 유용성

        Background : Coronary disease is highly prevalent in patient with end stage renal disease (ESRD) and account for much of their observed morbidity and mortality. Troponin-I consistently maintains a high sensitivity and specificity and is most sensitive marker for ischemic heart disease (IHD). Method : We examed 49 hernodialyzed patients (22 male, 27 female) without evidence of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) for 6 months. Biochemical markers were measured in serial predialysis blood samples. For analysis, we used two cardio-specific assays for troponin-T (cTnT) as well as for troponin-I (cTnI) and compared the results with CK-MB (reference value ≤ 4.0 ng/mL) concentration. Results : Myocardial ischemia was observed in 47% (23/49) of patients. cTnT level above 0.1 ng/mL. and cTnI level above 0.5 ng/mL, were observed in 22% (11/49) and 20% (10/49) of patients respectively. cTnI revealed significantly higher positive rate in patients with myocardial ischemia than the patients without myocardial ischemia (43 % vs 30%) (p<0.05). cTnT and CK-MB revealed no difference in positive rate between the patients with and without myocardial ischemia (cTnT : 30% vs 15% and CK-MB : 30% vs 19%). The sensitivity and specificity of cTnI to myocardial ischemia were higher than those of cTnT and CK-MB (sensitivity 43% vs 30% and 30%. specificity 100% vs 85% and 81%). Conclusion: Both cTnT and cTnI are useful in ruling out myocardial injury in chronic renal failure patients. But. cTnI is a more sensitivity and excellent specificity of ischemic heart disease than cTnT and CK-MB in hemodialyzed patients. In patients with ischemic heart disease, the presences of DM and advanced age were higher than those in patients without ischemic heart disease (p<0.05). Among the baseline characteristics old age, elevated LDH and diabeties were significant more frequent in the patients with elevation of cardiac troponin-I (p>0.5 ng/mL) than those with cardiac troponin-I (p<0.5 ng/mL), p=0.038, p=0.049, and p=0.045, respectively. Our results suggest that these cTnI is the potential diagnostic marker for the prediction of IHD in ESRD patients.

      • 中部地方의 庭園養式에 關한 硏究 : with special reference to Daejeon city 大田市를 中心으로

        To investigate garden style of Daejeon city, 7 renown ancient home sites and 4 modern home located throughout Daejeon city were chosen to survey planting arrangement and studied with special reference to function of the garden; function of the landscaping plants, tree species planted and landscaping facilities in home. The results are summarized as follow: 1. The present home and housing garden are chosen southern location, with a traditional influence of the orient geographical theory called "Pungsu Girl Seol(specially sunny place)." 2. Dominant tree species planted in the ancient home site are Di-ospyros kaki, Ginkgo biloba, Firmiana simplex, Prunus armeniaca var. ansu, Magnolia denudata, Lagerstroemia indica, Cornus walteri, Salix koreensis, Cercis chinensis, Rhododendron Schlippenbachii, Euonymus japonica, Quercus aliena, Chaenomeles sinensis, Juniperus chinensis, Thuja orienlalis etc. 3. Dominant tree species planted in the modern housing garden are cedrus deodara, Pinus parviflora, Rhododendron Schlippenbachii, Cercts chimensis, Juniperus chinensis, Juniperus chinensis var. kaizuka, Juniperus chinensis var. globosa, Buxus microphylla var. koreana, Rosa spp, Pinus densiflora, Chamaecyparis obtusa, Acer palmatum, Picea abies, Paeonia loctiflora, Zoysia matrella, etc. 4. Plants were planted in ancient home site for the following purpose; uses of fruits trees, ornamental flowering trees, green shade trees, and planted in modern housing garden; green shade trees, softening of architectural materials. 5. It is characteristic that ancient houses have vegetable garden in home site and modern housing gardens have flowering-bed. 6. Ancient home sites are seen pond which mixed planting with trees and utilized resting space, whereas modern housing gardens are seen lawn grass which utilized as resting space. 7. Through the present studies it is suggested that housing garden of Daejeon city has working and seasonable garden which classified into working and quiet space planted with various trees.
