To represent atrial fibrillation (AF) we use the bi-domain model coupled with the Courtmanche model of human atrial cell and simulate the 3D electric waves on left atrial surface. S1-S2 stimulation protocol is applied to induce AF in the model. We obtained patient-specific geometries of left atrium (LA) from CT data and constructed three-dimensional (3D) simulation models. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of nerve activity on electric wave propagation in AF. In the cell model, we add acetycoline-activated potassium current to reflect the nerve effect of ganglionated plexus. Parasympathetic actions are formulated based on the experimental results of acetylcholine effects in patch-clamp studies. Computed results show that ach-activated potassium current by parasympathetic stimuls induces maintained AF waves than control condition.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to obtain comprehensive understanding of Korean university students’; experience having attachment to Idol. The findings of this study will help find nursing method to improve quality of mental health of university students. Method: Max van Manen’s hermeneutical phenomenology was adopted for the study. 8 participants were recruited using Random Sampling method: aged from 17 to 24 years old. Data came from in-depth, semi-structured interviews. Max van Manen’s 4 steps method for data analyzing were adopted. Result: The analysis produced five themes: 'Fall into Idol for the first time', 'Affection that infinitely penetrates one's heart', 'Secure attachment towards Idol leads to the route of happiness', 'Exhausted lives due to Insecure attachment towards Idol', 'Idol, who is actually in the other world' Conclusion: These results presented that university students could gain psychological stability through fan activity, and consider it as a leisure activity. Meanwhile, they spent a lot of money and time due to an obsession with Idol, and felt negative emotions like skepticism or isolation because of the one-way relationship with Idol. Thus, Mental health professionals need to encourage university students who are attached to Idol to build relationships based on reality, and provide mental health counseling to help them handle emotional stress.

The nature of nascent DNA from both asynchronous and synchronous populations was investigated. In UV-irradiated synchronous cells, the amounts of nascent DNA, synthesized during the first 4hr in S phase, were increased to 1.5-fold. But this enhancing effect was not appeared during 5-10 hr of S phase. Asynchronous population also showed the increased level of DNA synthesis by UV-light. Effects of UV-light on the rate of DNA synthesis was somewhat different between asynchronous and synchronous populations. There's no apparent changes in synchronous population, whereas in asynchronous population the rate of DNA synthesis was greatly reduced and then gradually recovered to normal level thereafter. These results suggest that there are various classes of DNA, replicated at discrete times during S-phase and differently responding to UV-light.

Studies of sinking particles associated with hydrothermal vent fluids may help us to quantify mass transformation processes between hydrothermal vent plumes and deposits. Such studies may also help us understand how various types of hydrothermal systems influence particle flux and composition. However, the nature of particle precipitation out of hydrothermal vent plumes in the volcanic arcs of convergent plate boundaries has not been well studied, nor have the characteristics of such particles been compared with the characteristics of sinking particles at divergent boundaries. We examined sinking particles collected by sediment traps for about 10 days at two sites, each within 200m of identified hydrothermal vents in the south Tonga arc of the southwestern Pacific. The total mass flux was several-fold higher than in the non-hydrothermal southwest tropical Pacific. The contribution of non-biogenic materials was dominant (over 72%) and the contribution of metals such as Fe, Mn, Cu, and Zn was very high compared to their average levels in the upper continental crust. The particle flux and composition indicate that hydrothermal authigenic particles are the dominant source of the collected sinking particles. Overall, our elemental ratios are similar to observations of particles at the divergent plate boundary in the East Pacific Rise (EPR). Thus, the nature of the hydrothermal particles collected in the south Tonga arc is probably not drastically different from particles in the EPR region. However, we observed consistent differences between the two sites within the Tonga arc, in terms of the contribution of non-biogenic material, the radiocarbon content of sinking particulate organic carbon, the ratios of iron to other metals (e.g. Cu/Fe and Zn/Fe), and plume maturity indices (e.g. S/Fe). This heterogeneity within the Tonga arc is likely caused by differences in physical environment such as water depth, phase separation due to subcritical boiling and associated sub-seafloor precipitation.
Chestnut내과피를 이용한 수용액중 중금속의 흡착제거에 관한 연구

Adsorption of metal ions(Cd^2+, Pb^2+) in water by atomic absorption spectrophotometer. Rate of adsorption by the endocarp of chestnut was evaluated under the condition of variation in temperature, shaking time, solution pH, adsorbent amount, and metal ion concentration. The results are as follows: 1. Adsorption rate of Cd^2+, Pb^2+ in water by the endocarp coarse powder of chestnut was each 55∼90%, 22∼99% in the concentration of each Cd^2+ 2.5∼20μg/ml, Pb^2+ 2.5∼200μg/ml. 2. Endocarp coarse powder of chestnut has greater adsorbability than water extracted sample, i.e., 2.2 times in Cd^2+, 2.5 times in Pb^2+. 3. Adsorption of Cd^2+, Pb^2+ by the endocarp coarse powder of chestnut roughly following Freundlich isotherms in the concentration range of each Cd^2+∼20μg/ml, Pb^2+ 2.5∼200μg/ml.

Indium Tin Oxide(ITO) thin films have been fabricated by rf magnetron sputtering with a target of a mixture In_(2)O_(3) (90 wt%) and SnO_(2) (10 wt%). We prepared ITO films with substrate temperature of 30 to 300 ℃, and working pressure of 1 to under 0.1 m Torr. We analyzed electrical properties, X-ray diffraction patterns, SEM photographs and transmission spectra.
