        울산공단지역의 대기중 휘발성 유기화합물에 대한 위해도 평가

        This study focused on risk assessment for inhalation of airborne volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in Ulsan industrial complex area. For non-carcinogenic risk, even the highest hazard index of toluene was estimated to be 4.8 × 10^(-2), which was much lower than 1. The total hazard index of VOCs was estimated to be 5.8 × 10^(-2). However, lifetime average cancer risk from the inhalation of airborne VOCs was estimated to be about 1.1 × 10^(-3), which was much higher than a risk standard of 10^(-5). The risk of 4.4 × 10^(-5) came from benzene, the only human carcinogen among VOCs, while that of 1.05 × 10^(-3) from probable human carcinogens including 1,3-butadiene and 1,2-dichloroethane. About 70% and 20% of total VOC cancer risk was due to the inhalation of 1,3-butadiene and 1,2-dichloroethane, respectively. Therefore, proper risk management of these 3 VOCs was required for the protection of health from cancer burden in Ulsan industrial complex area.

        용융 붕사욕 침지법에 의해 금형용 강에 형성된 VC coating 층의 밀착성과 내마모성에 관한 연구

        A study on adhesion and wear resistance of VC(vanadium carbide) coating on die steels, STD11 and STD61, has been carried out. The VC coating on the die steels was made by immersing them in molten borax bath, a kind of TRD(thermo-reactive deposition and diffusion). Adhesion strength and wear resistance were investigated using scratch test, indentation test and plate-disc test(Ogoshi type) respectively. The influence of sliding distance on the amount of wear has been determined and dominant wear mechanisms has been characterized using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and EDS spectroscopy. The critical adhesion strength(L_c) between VC coating layer and substrate(STD11) was increased to 60N(L_c) in the scratch test. In the case of STD61, the strength increased to 24N. The wear resistance of VC coated die steels was excellent because the diffusion layer formed just below the coating layer. The dominant wear mechanism was identified as adhesive wear for VC coating die steels which were worn by combination of cracking and plucking of VC fragments and disc.

      • 직접 메탄올 연료전지를 위한 anode 전극재료 개발

        Direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) needs better anode electrocatalysts than Pt, which suffers from self CO poisoning phenomena. The improved oxidation kinetics enabled by Pt promoters such as Ru, Sn, Mo, W or Os has been attributed to a bifunctional and/or an electronic effect. The alloy electrode materials were prepared by reduction and colloidal methods. It was generally proved that binary system such as those based on Pt, these components are much more active in promoting DMFC reactions than pure platinum catalysts. The oxidation onset on pure Pt was 0.45 V and the potentials decreased with alloying. Pt-Ru showed the lowest onset potential. However, chronoamperometry provided high stability at Pt-Mo on CO poisoning, which shows a promising candidate as DMFC anode material. The strategy of ternary or quaternary electrocatalysts, the effects of synthesis and particle sizes will be discussed.

        Granulocytic sarcoma, or chloroma is a localized extramedullary tumor mass composed of immature cells of the granulocytic series. It was first described by Burns in 1811, subsequently termed $quot;Chloroma$quot; because of green color sometimes imparted by cellular myeloperoxidase, Dock was the first to note the association of granulocytic sarcoma with acute leukemia, it may by associated with such myeloproliferative disorder as hypereosinoplilia, polycythemia vera, or myeloid metaplasia. Granulocytic sarcoma is now regarded as an omnious habinger of acute myelocytic leukemia (AML), or the onset of blast crisis in chronic myelogeneous leukemia (CML). Granulocytic sarcoma can arise in various locations including the periosteum of the bones, lymph nodes, skin, epidural structures, female genitalia, gonads, breast, gastrointestinal tract, urinary bladder, and kidney. Although its overall incidence is low, the tumor can present in any organ. We report a case of a 18-year-old man who was diagnosed as having multifocal granulo cytic sarcoma in the soft tissue.

        Glutaraldehyde 와 자동 세척기를 이용한 내시경 소독방법의 임상에서의 유용성

        Background/Aims: Safety of endoscopic procedures has been a major issue over the last 10 years. Most endoscopy units use 2% glutaraldehyde and automated endoscope reprocessors (AERs) for disinfecting gastrointestinal endoscopes. We attempted an in-use evaluation of the current reprocessing procedures. Methods: Thirty flexible endoscopes were randomly collected just after upper endoscopic examinations and were disinfected using 2% glutaraldehyde in an AER. Cultures were taken from biopsy channels (S-l), tip of the insertion tubes (S-2), umbilical cords (S-3), and angulation knobs (S-4). Results: In 63,3% (19/30) of endoscopes, there was no microbial contamination after disinfection procedures. The culture positive rates of S-l, S-2, S-3, and S-4 samples were 20,0%, 0.0%, 3.3%, and 20.0%, respectively. Microorganisms of 13 species were identified, but there was no pathogen related with reported infectious complications after endoscopic procedures. Conclusions: Current disinfection procedure using 2% glutaraldehyde and an AER appears to be very effective in decontaminating patient-used endoscopes. Low level microbial contamination of endoscopes after conventional reprocessing methods may not impose great risk on patients.

        조선시대 전주이씨 장천군파(長川君派)의 잡과 진출

        전주이씨 하면 일반적으로 조선의 왕실, 그리고 핵심적인 양반 성관(姓貫)으로 널리 알려져 있다. 하지만 성씨만 보고서 양반으로 분류해버리는 것은 심각한 오류에 빠질 수 있다. 전주이씨 가계 가운데서도, 구체적으로 사료를 검토해보면 일반적으로 중인들이 응시했던 잡과에도 응시해 합격자들이 나오고 있기 때문이다. 이 글에서는 전주이씨 가계의 잡과 합격 현황을 살펴본 다음, 잡과에 진출한 전주이씨 집안에 대하여 주목하고자 한다. 구체적인 사례로서 제2대 임금 정종(定宗)의 제13남 장천군파(長川君派) 이택기 가계를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 잡과에 합격했다는 것은 기술관으로서의 입지를 보장해줄 뿐만 아니라, 고위직 기술관으로 진출할 수 있는 관직의 길을 담보해주는 것이었기 때문이다. 이 같은 검토를 통해서, 같은 성관이라 할지라도 파(派)를 달리하면 그 후손들의 신분과 위상이 미묘하게 달라지게 되었다는 것, 그리고 그것이 왕실의 후손들 가문에서 잡과에 진출해 잡과중인 가계를 형성하게 되는 계기가 되었다는 것을 밝혀낼 수 있었다. 뿐만 아니라 잡과중인 형성 과정에서 전주이씨 가계가 어떤 비중과 위상을 차지하고 있었는지, 그리고 조선 왕실 후손들이 잡과시험을 통해 잡과중인 집안으로 변모하여 생존했다는 것도 알 수 있었다. 그렇기 때문에 조선시대, 특히 후기의 경우, 성관만으로 신분, 양반과 중인 등을 단정지울 수는 없는 것이다. 같은 성관이라 하더라도 파(派)에 따라서 후손들의 신분과 위상이 미묘하게 달라지기도 했기 때문이다. 임진왜란 이후의 사회적 신분과 사회변동에 대해서는 구체적인 사례 연구와 더불어 다양한 측면에서 입체적으로 분석, 확인하는 작업이 필요하다. Jeonju LEE is known as the surname of the royal family and a prominent Yangban class of the Choson Dynasty. However, not all Jeonju Lee’s were Yangbans. After careful examination of historical literature, this report was able identify that even within the in Jeonju LEE family, there were Chungin’s(中人) who successfully passed the Chapkwa(雜科)-proving that it is erroneous to conclude one’s social status with one’s surname. This paper focuses on the Jeonju Lee family that took the Chapkwa. Specifically, this paper investigates Lee Taeg-ki, the 13th son of the King Jung-jong, and his family. Lee Taeg-ki was an official Chinese translator adalso Jangcheongun-pa(長川君派). Passing Chapkwa guarantees not only a position as a government techno-official, but also the route for a high ranking official. This study proves that even family members with the same surname had different social standing and status. Additionally, this paper found the status and importance of Jeonju Lee family in the process of forming Chapkwa-Chungin(雜科中人) and how they survived by becoming a Chapkwa-Chungin family. It is impossible to assume/conclude one’s class(Yangban, Chungin) by one’s surname in the late Choson Dynasty, because social status and social standing of descendants were differentiated by Pa(派). Therefore, in order to truly understand the social standing and social change in late Choson Dynasty, one needs to conduct specific case studies in diverse angles and spectrums.
