        경련성 환아 부모들의 인식에 대한 연구

        Convulsive disorder is the most part of the pediatric neurologic disease. As far as the treatment of convulsive disorder concerned, we must consider familys' understanding, and the close cooperation between the epileptic child, parents, and doctors. We compared to Kim's report in 1985, to study the change of parents of epileptic children thinking. A prospective study was undertaken the analysis of 100 epileptic children parents visited to the pediatric dept, of Soonchunhyang university hospital from May to July, 1995. Psychological assessment, questionnaires which contains 17 items were given them, and these items were compared to Kims report in 1985 The results were as follows: 1) Parents of epileptic children answered convulsive disorder has influenced to children growth and development( 60.8% in 1985, 65.0% in 1995 ). 2) For asking the causes of children disease, 40.5% of them in 1985 and 50.0% of them in 1995 answered to uncertain, but only 7.8% of them in 1985 and 7.0% of them in 1995 answered to relation with familial inheritance. 3) The feelings at time of the diagnosis were gloomy or uncomfortable: 52.3% in 1985, 38.0% in 1995 and shameful 28.1% in 1985, 9.0% 1995. parents had belived in the epilepsy was treatable disease: 41.0% in 1995. 4) According to the this survey, patients explained reasons why their children take the medication increased from 23.5% in 1985 to 65.0% in 1995. 5) Only family, knew that their children had the convulsive disorder about 50.3% in 1995 and 22.0% in 1995. Family, patients and other people except family knew that their children had the convulsive disorder about 6.5% in 1985 and 43.0% in 1995. 6) The parents opinion and expectation toward the medical doctors were that they wanted to get full explanation for the disease 81.0% in 1985 and 35.1% in 1995, and others were explantation about toxicity and side effects of the medication and advises for the childrens life and activities.

        Pleural effusion in a patient with multiple myeloma due to plasma cell involvement of the pleura has been reported infrequently. We report a case of multiple myeloma with pleural involvement presenting bone pain and dyspnea in a 69-year-o1d woman. On the physical examination, the patient looked chronically ill with bedridden state. There was a palpable mass on the left posterior lower chest, firm but not tender and decreased breathing sound in the left lower lung. Laboratory finding revealed amemia, elevation of ESR, globulin, and calcium. X-ray of the chest showed pleural effusion in the left lower lung, and multiple pathologic fractures in the both ribs. X-ray of the skull, and pelvis revealed multiple punched-out osteolytic fractures in the both ribs. X-ray of the skull, and pelvis revealed multiple punched-out osteolytic lesion, and compression fracture in the lumber spine. Serum and urine electrophoresis revealed a M-spike. Serum and urine immunoelectrophoresis demonstrated an IgA-kappa monoclonal protein. Thoracentesis revealed serosanguinous fluid but not containing atypical plasma cells. Bone marrow examination showed 16.7% of immature plasma cells. With first cycle of melphalan, prednisone chemotherapy, improvement of pain and disappearance of pleural effusion was observed.

      • 절수에 의한 mongolian gerbil의 체중 변화에 관한 연구

        Recently, the mongolian gerbils have been used in neurology and the study of water metabolism because of their easy onset of epileptic seizure and typical resistance to water deprivation. The sebaceous glands which are under the control of the gonadal hrmones are differently developed from the other laboratory animals. However the physiological data on the changes of body weight following water deprivation in mongolian gerbils is not available until now. In order to investigate the effect of the water deprivation on the body weight, the animals were deprived of water for 15 days. The body weights were measured daily by the torsion balance. The mean, the standard deviation, the standard error and the coefficient of variance of the body weights were calculated. The correlation was examined. The potential regression equation was y = 61.5458 - 2.0533 * x + 0.0487 * x^2. The regression coefficient was 0.993. The results obtained were as follows : 1. The body weights of the mongolian gerbils were continuously decrased from the 1st day to the 15th day after the water deprivation. 2. The mean body weight on the water deprivation was 63.0±7.00g and that at the 15th day was 41.4 ± 5.42g. 3. The coefficients of the variance showed the highest (13.09) at the 15th day and the lowest (10.10) at the 10th day. the coefficients of the variance kept decreasing until the 10th day and thereafter gradually increased until the 15th day. 4. The changing rate of the body weight kept continuously decreasing from the 1st day to the 15th day showing the daily loss of 1.0 - 3.3%. 5.The deviations (M - QBW) between the measured values (m) and the theorical values (QBW) using the regression equation showed the highest (1.494) at the 1st day and the lowest (0.053) at the 13th day. 6. The sum of the devitions was 0.179 and that of the deviation square was 1.15. The sum of the deviation rates between the mesaured body weights and the theorical ones was 0.484. 7. The daily body weight loss showed the highest at the 1st day by 2.053g and the lowest at the 15th day by 0.591g. 8. The specific body weight changing rates which were the rate of the body weight changing velocity to the changed body weight were decreased from 0.033% at the 1st day to 0.014% at the 15th day.

        다변량해석기법을 활용한 치아 교모도에 의한 연령추정

        The use of physiologic changes of teeth is comparatively definite to estimate age for old people who had stoped the growth and development. among many physiological indicators, tooth attritions is visible to naked eye and does not need any damage of submect and has close relationship to age. The author examined tooth attritions and dental restorations of 229 subjects, and degrees of the attrition of all teeth was judged 5 categories according to the method by Takei. Multivariate analysis was applied for the Mathematico-Statistical means. The results were as follows : 1. Four calculators for age estimation by attrition value were given in case that 28 all teeth were used, and 14 maxillary teeth were used, and 14 mandibular teeth were used, and maxillary and mandibular 14 teeth were used. 2. Partial correlation coefficients of each tooth were calculated in order to show that which tooth is more contributive to age estimation. In case that the 28 all teeth were used, 2?? premolar was the most contributive to age estimation and 1?? molar, incisor, 2?? molar, lateral incisor, canine, 1?? premolar, respectively. 3. For more accurate age estimation, calculator by 28 teeth is recommendable to person who has comparatively more dental restoration, and calculator by maxillary and mandibular 14 teeth is recommendable to person who has less dental restoration and missing tooth.

        열산화 처리에 따른 Ti-Ag 합금의 표면 특성

        Thermally oxidized Ti-Ag alloys, cp-Ti and Ti-A14V was investigated to find the proper heat treatment temperature and heat treatment duration for dental application. Surface microtopology by SEM showed oxide particles formed on all specimens treated at 600℃ and coarse, fully-crystallized lumps on specimens treated at 800℃. In macroscopic roughness measurement, Ra ranged from 0.083 to 0.29 }μm resulting from scratching by #600 emery paper; for non-contact method, from 0.34 to 2.84 nm resulting from the contour by oxide crystals on and between the ridges. The thicknesses of oxide layers were presumed to range from 100 to 250, 250 to 700, and over 1700 A for specimens treated at 400, 600, and 800℃, respectively. Oxide layers separated from the matrices on the cross sections of specimens atmosphere cooled after heat-treated at 800℃, which was not observed on those treated at 600℃. Oxidation behaviors of Ti-Ag alloys were observed to be similar to those of cp-Ti specimens by XRD analyses: TiO2 growth on surfaces followed by coexistence with Ti203's as treatment temperature increased; TiO growth followed by spread of both rutiles and Ti203's with temperature increase on specimens treated for 4 hours. Alumina was detected on Ti6A14V specimens, where microgaps between layers of alumina and titania considerably reduced the adhesive force of tinania layers on matrices. Conclusively, heat treatment temperature was more significant than treatment duration and the most desirable temperature was determined to be 600℃. (Received January 19, 2004)

        국균을 달리한 탁주 양조 중 유리아미노산 및 유기산의 소장

        Takju, a Korean traditional rice wine, was prepared using Koji and Nuluk which were inoculated with single or combination culture of Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus shirousamii, and Aspergillus kawachii to investigate changes in mineral, amino acid and organic acid during fermentation. The mineral content showed a range of 1.50∼15.20ppm for Ca, 0.22∼0.25ppm for Cu, 1.60∼2.10ppm for Fe, 0.17∼0.55ppm for Mn, 0.68∼1.00ppm for Zn, 3.00∼40.50ppm for K, 5.25∼19.50 for Mg, 1.43∼2.95ppm for Na, and 3.00∼63.0ppm for P. It has been found that Takju had 16 kinds of amino acid including aspartic acid. A. niger Nuluk showed the highest contents in total amino acids, while A. kawachii Koji was the lowest in amino acids. The major amino acids were glutamic acid, alanine, leucine, and phenylalanine. The order of organic acids from the highest content in Takju were citric acid$gt; tartaric acid$gt; pyruvic acid$gt; malic acid$gt; lactic acid $gt; acetic acid.

        Compositional Characterization of Petroleum Heavy Oils Generated from Vacuum Distillation and Catalytic Cracking by Positive-mode APPI FT-ICR Mass Spectrometry

        Molecular compositions of two types of heavy oil were studied using positive atmospheric pressure photoionization (APPI) Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FT-ICR MS). Vacuum gas oil (VGO) was generated from vacuum distillation of atmospheric residual oil (AR), and slurry oil (SLO) was generated from catalytic cracking of AR. These heavy oils have similar boiling point ranges in the range of 210-$650^{\circ}C$, but they showed different mass ranges and double-bond equivalent (DBE) distributions. Using DBE and carbon number distributions, aromatic ring distributions, and the extent of alkyl side chains were estimated. In addition to the main aromatic hydrocarbon compounds, those containing sulfur, nitrogen, and oxygen heteroatoms were identified using simple sample preparation and ultra-high mass resolution FT-ICR MS analysis. VGO is primarily composed of mono- and di-aromatic hydrocarbons as well as sulfur-containing hydrocarbons, whereas SLO contained mainly polyaromatic hydrocarbons and sulfur-containing hydrocarbons. Both heavy oils contain polyaromatic nitrogen components. SLO inludes shorter aromatic alkyl side chains than VGO. This study demonstrates that APPI FT-ICR MS is useful for molecular composition characterization of petroleum heavy oils obtained from different refining processes.

      • Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy of two-dimensional Rashba ferromagnets

        <P>We compute the magnetocrystalline anisotropy energy within two-dimensional Rashba models. For a ferromagnetic free-electron Rashba model, the magnetic anisotropy is exactly zero regardless of the strength of the Rashba coupling, unless only the lowest band is occupied. For this latter case, the model predicts in-plane anisotropy. For a more realistic Rashba model with finite band width, the magnetic anisotropy evolves from in-plane to perpendicular and back to in-plane as bands are progressively filled. This evolution agrees with first-principles calculations on the interfacial anisotropy, suggesting that the Rashba model captures energetics leading to anisotropy originating from the interface provided that the model takes account of the finite Brillouin zone. The results show that the electron density modulation by doping or an external voltage is more important for voltage-controlled magnetic anisotropy than the modulation of the Rashba parameter.</P>
