        The purpose of this study was to investigate coordination structure of infront kick in women soccer as a function of skill level. To succeed this purpose, four girls' high school students who had never experienced soccer before were selected as novices, and four girls' high school students who had played soccer for over three years as experts in this lab. To recognize the change of coordination structure according to practice, novices had practiced infront kick in soccer for two weeks. consequently they were taken films of kicking motion three times -before practice, after one week practice, after two weeks practice. However, experts were taken once. The experimental instruments for this study consisted of a video camera, reference frame. LED and APAS for digitizing. Angle to angle diagrams and phase plan portraits for qualitative analysis of coordination structure were gotten with LabVIEW 6i. The conclusions are as follow: firstly, novices' coordination structure had been changed since practice. Secondly, there were significantly different between coordination structures of experts and pre-practice novices. Lastly, there were similar between coordination structures of experts and post practice novices.

        Afferent loop syndrome is an uncommon complication of a gastrectomy and Billroth Ⅱ reconstruction. It may cause symtoms at any time from the first postoperative day to many years after the gastrectomy. Afferent loop syndrome is characterized by abdominal pain, vomiting and elevation of serum amylase. Thus, it is difficult to differentiate afferent loop syndrome from other cause of acute pancreatitis. However, the history of gastrectomy can be an important clue for diagnosing afferent loop syndrome. We experienced one case of chronic afferent loop syndrome with acute pancreatitis. After appropriate management, the abdominal pain disappeared and serum amylase level decreased. We report this case with a review of relevant literatures.

        갈바닉 전류를 이용한 철근부식 탐사기술에 관한 연구 : Part 1: 모사용액에서 행한 갈바닉 센서의 전기화학적 시험 Part 1: Electrochemical tests of galvanic sensors in pore solution

        The correlation between sensor output and corrosion rate of reinforcing steel was evaluated by laboratory electrochemical tests in saturated Ca(OH)_(2) solution with 3.5wt.% NaCl. In this paper, two types of electrochemical probes were developed: galvanic cells containing of steel/copper and steel/stainless steel couples. The corrosion behavior in saturated Ca(OH)_(2) solution with or without 3.5 wt% NaCl addition for the different electrodes was investigated by potentiodynamic test. Weight loss measurement and galvanic corrosion test were conducted to obtain the corrosion rate of reinforcing steel and the charge of sensor in saturated Ca(OH)_(2) solution with 3.5 wt.% NaCl addition, respectively. The results of the potentiodynamic test indicated the possibility of detecting an ingress point of chlorides by measuring the galvanic current. In galvanic corrosion tests, the galvanic current of steel/copper couple was higher than that of steel-stainless steel couple, i.e., the steel/copper sensor is more suitable for high resistance environment. The steel/stainless sensor showed a better linear correlation than the steel/copper sensor. Through the relationship between the sensor system output and the weight loss of steel, real corrosion damage of the steel embedded in concrete can be detected.

        Fungus such as Candida albicans is a normal flora that is frequently found in the oral cavity, gastrointestinal tract, genitourinary tract, vaginal mucosa in a normal person. However, candida can cause opportunistic infection in an immune compromised host. Candidiasis has broad spectrum of disease from mucocutaneous infection to invasive or disseminated infection. But, it is rarely reported that candida is associaed with gastrointestinal tract disease in a healthy adult. The case of gastric ulcer associated with candida particularly in a health adult is reported with relevant literature.

        플라이 애쉬가 콘크리트 구조물의 철근 부식에 미치는 영향

        Addition of fly ash has beneficial effects on some mechanical properties of concrete, as well as the corrosion process induced by the chloride ion. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of fly ash on the steel corrosion in concrete with various water-to-binder ratios. The corrosion process of steel bars embedded in concrete without fly ash and with 20% fly ash was tested under complete immersion, in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution. Monitoring of open-circuit potential and linear polarization method and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) were used to follow the corrosion process. Also, ASTM C1202 test method was used to estimate the concrete's resistivity of chloride penetration in concrete. The results obtained from electrochemical tests show that the use of fly ash has led to the improvement of corrosion resistance. Partial cement replacement by fly ash caused significant pore refinement, reduced permeability to chloride ions, and increased corrosion resistance.

      • 만성 C형 간염 환자에서 페그인터페론 알파2a와 리바비린 병합 치료중 발생한 벨마비 1예

        페그인터페론과 리바비린 병합요법은 만성 C형 간염의 일차 치료법이다. 저자들은 만성 C형 간염 환자에서 페그인터페론 과 리바비린 병합 요법 중에 발생한 벨마비 1예를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. 환자는 5년 전부터 만성 C형 간염을 앓아온 48세 남자이며, PEG-IFN α-2a 135μgm 피하주사 주1회와 하루 1200㎎의 리바비린을 투여하였다. 치료시작 후 9개월째 환자는 오른쪽 안면의 근력약화를 호소하였으며 벨마비로 진단되었다. 페그인터페론과 리바비린 병합요법을 지속하면서 관찰하였다. 환자의 벨마비는 페그인터페론 치료를 중단하지 않았음에도 3개월후 증상이 회복되고 이후 벨마비 재발 없이 현재 경과관찰 중이다. 만성 C형 간염에서 페그인터페론과 리바비린 병합 요법시 벨마비의 발생 가능성을 염두에 두어야 하겠다. A Case of Bell's Palsy Associated with Combination Therapy of Pegylated Interferon Alfa-2a (PEG-IFN) and Ribavirin for Chronic Hepatitis C Virus Infection Pegylated interferon alfa(PEG-IFN α) and ribavirin therapy is the first line treatment for chronic hepatitis C. Mild complications of the therapy are common, but more serious complications are rare. We report here a case of Bell's palsy that occurred in a patient with chronic hepatitis C virus infection during combination therapy of PEG-IFN α-2a and ribavirin. The patient was 49-year-old man with chronic hepatitis C (genotype 1b) for 8 years. He had compensated liver cirrhosis with splenomegaly. Therapy with PEG-IFN α- 2a 135mcg/week and ribavirin 1200mg/day was initiated. After 9 months of the therapy, the patient showed a loss of muscular tone on the right side of his face. A diagnosis of Bell's palsy was made. The Bell's palsy resolved over 3 months despite continuation of the combination therapy.

      • <i>Loktanella ponticola</i> sp. nov., isolated from seawater

        <P>A Gram-reaction-negative, aerobic, non-flagellated and coccoid, ovoid or rod-shaped bacterial strain, designated W-SW2<SUP>T</SUP>, was isolated from seawater in the South Sea of South Korea. The novel strain grew optimally at pH 7.0–8.0, at 25 °C and in the presence of approximately 2 % (w/v) NaCl. A neighbour-joining phylogenetic tree based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain W-SW2<SUP>T</SUP> fell within the clade comprising the type strains of species of the genus <I>Loktanella</I>, clustering and sharing the highest sequence similarity value (96.3 %) with the type strain of <I>Loktanella koreensis</I>. The 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity values between strain W-SW2<SUP>T</SUP> and the type strains of the other species of the genus <I>Loktanella</I> were in the range 93.1–96.0 %. The DNA G+C content of strain W-SW2<SUP>T</SUP> was 55.9 mol%. Strain W-SW2<SUP>T</SUP> contained Q-10 as the predominant ubiquinone and C<SUB>18 : 1</SUB>ω7<I>c</I> as the predominant fatty acid. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylglycerol, one unidentified aminolipid and one unidentified lipid. Differential phenotypic properties, together with the phylogenetic distinctiveness, revealed that strain W-SW2<SUP>T</SUP> is separated phylogenetically from other species of the genus <I>Loktanella</I>. On the basis of the data presented, strain W-SW2<SUP>T</SUP> is considered to represent a novel species of the genus <I>Loktanella</I>, for which the name <I>Loktanella ponticola</I> sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is W-SW2<SUP>T</SUP> ( = KCTC 42133<SUP>T</SUP> = NBRC 110409<SUP>T</SUP>).</P>

        Association of IL-17RB Gene Polymorphism With Asthma

        <P>BACKGROUND: Interleukin (IL)-17E is a member of the IL-17 family, which induces IL-4, IL-5, IL-13, and eotaxin in experimental animals via IL-17 receptor B (IL-17RB). The activation of IL-17RB amplifies allergic-type inflammatory responses by inducing Jun kinase (or JNK), p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (or MAPK), and nuclear factor-kappaB. OBJECTIVES: We examined the association of polymorphisms in the IL-17RB gene with asthma susceptibility and investigated the effects of those polymorphisms on the transcription of various IL-17RB isoforms. METHODS: In total, 954 asthmatic patients or 265 healthy control subjects were screened for polymorphisms in IL-17RB by single-base extension. The messenger RNA expression IL-17RB in B-cell lines derived from patients was also measured by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. RESULTS: Direct sequencing of 24 unrelated Korean DNA samples revealed 18 genetic variants, including four insertion/deletions and 14 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). Six of the SNPs (-1465G>A, +5661G>A, +6297T>C [Y123Y], +13797C>T, +18661C>T, and +18965G>A) were used to screen a larger group of subjects. Intronic polymorphism +5661G>A was significantly associated with the development of asthma (p = 0.001); moreover, a minor allele of IL-17RB +5661G>A appeared at a lower frequency in the asthmatic patients than in the healthy control subjects (0.13 vs 0.19, respectively). The IL-17RB messenger RNA expression in B cells homozygous for IL-17RB+ 5661GG was significantly higher than that in B cells homozygous for IL-17RB+5661AA (p = 0.002). CONCLUSIONS: A rare allele of IL-17RB +5661G>A may have a protective role against the development of asthma via regulation at the level of transcription. The SNPs identified in this study may be used to develop markers to assess the risk of asthma.</P>

        Acute Pulmonary Toxicity and Body Distribution of Inhaled Metallic Silver Nanoparticles

        The purpose of this study was to determine the acute pulmonary toxicity of metallic silver nanoparticles (MSNPs, 20.30 ㎚ in diameter). Acute pulmonary toxicity and body distribution of inhaled MSNPs in mice were evaluated using a nose-only exposure chamber (NOEC) system. Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid analysis, Western blotting, histopathological changes, and silver burdens in various organs were determined in mice. Mice were exposed to MSNPs for 6 hrs. The mean concentration, total surface area, volume and mass concentrations in the NOEC were maintained at 1.93 × 10? particles/㎤, 1.09 × 10<SUP>10</SUP> ㎚²/㎤, 2.72 × 10<SUP>11</SUP> ㎚³/㎤, and 2854.62 ㎍/㎥, respectively. Inhalation of MSPNs caused mild pulmonary toxicity with distribution of silver in various organs but the silver burdens decreased rapidly at 24-hrs post-exposure in the lung. Furthermore, inhaled MSNPs induced activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling in the lung. In summary, single inhaled MSNPs caused mild pulmonary toxicity, which was associated with activated MAPK signaling. Taken together, our results suggest that the inhalation toxicity of MSNPs should be carefully considered at the molecular level.
