      • 신생아 황달질환에서의 RDW의 진단적 의의

        목적 : 신생아 적혈구는 그 모양이 불규칙하여 여러 측정치가 성인 및 소아와 다르다, 저자들은 국내에서 보고된 바 없는 신생아의 Red cell distribution width(RDW)를 조사하여 신생아 정상 측정치를 제시하는 동시에 신생아 시기의 적혈구에 손상을 미치는 질환의 RDW를 분석하여 진단상 의의를 조사하였다. 대상 및 방법 : 신생아 집중치료실에 입원한 만삭아중 감염소견이 없었던 78명과 ABO부적합증 및 패혈증 환아에서 hemoglobin, hematocrit, MV, RDW 및 망상적혈구를 측정하였다. 결과 : 생후 1일부터 7일까지의 만삭신생아의 RDW 17.4±1.5로 소아 정상치 13.4±1.2%에 비해 증가되어 있었으나 출생후 7일까지 hemoglobin, hematocrit는 의의있게 감소한 반면 RDW는 변동이 없었다. 같은 연령의 ABO 부적합증 및 패혈증 환아군은 대조군에 비해 의의있게 hemoglobin과 hematocrit가 낮았으나 RDW는 대조군과 질병군 및 각 질병군 사이에 차이를 보이지 않았다. RDW와 망상적혈구는 ABP 부적합증에서만 상관계수 0.91 (p<0.001)의 상관관계를 보였다. 결론 : 출생후 7일까지 계측한 정상 신생아의 RDW는 소아에 비해 증가되어 있으나 출생후 변화는 없었다. ABO 부적합증 및 패혈증 환아군의 RDW는 대조군과 질병군 및 각 질병군 사이에 차이를 보이지 않아 이들 질환의 진단적 의의가 없었다. ABO 부적합증에서 RDW가 망상적혈구 수와 높은 상관관계를 나타내므로서 자동 분석기로 측정된 RDW로서 망상적혈구 수를 추정할 수 있었다. The RBC distribution width(RDW) has been reported to be of value in the early and differential diagnosis of several RBC disorders, with no sufficient studies on the newborn population. Seventy-eight normal fullterm newborns were studied to establish normal values for RDW of 1st week of life. The RDW of 43 patients with ABO incompatibility or sepsis was then evaluated for the usefulness of the RDW in diagnosis of Jaundice. The RDW was 17.7 ± 1.2 and 17.5 ± 0.8 at 1st and 4-7th days of life, revealing no differences de pending on the postnatal age. The RDW of newborns with ABO incompatibility, sepsis with and without jaundice were 18.4 ± 2.2, 18.2 ± 1.1 and 17.3 ± 0.9 respectively. The RDW was found to be consistently elevated in all these newborn infants-the normal newborns and the newborns with ABO incompatibility or sepsis-when compared with normal older children at our hospital. That reveals a physiologic state of anisocytosis in the newborn, showing no significant differences between these infants. Our results suggest that RDW alone cannot be used as an indicator to distingish between jaundice induced by hemolysis and by other causes. In this study all parameters examined except the reticulocyte counts of ABO incompatibility, which showed, by regression analysis, no correlation with the RDW. High RDW in ABO incompatibility is consistent with high reticulocyte count. One clinical value of the RDW therefore may lie in its capacity for reflecting active erythropioesis in ABO incompatibility. Thus the study has confirmed that red blood cell anisocytosis, as determined by RDW, has no value to differentiate the etiology of jaundice in the newborn period but it seems that RDW plays a role in determining the reticulocyte count in newborns with ABO incompatibility.

      • Seed Repair by Electrodeposition in Pyrophosphate Solution for Acid Cu Superfilling

        <P>Seed layer repairing, a complementary technology to the fabrication of continuous Cu seed layers for acid Cu superfilling, was carried out in alkaline pyrophosphate solution by modified two-step electrodeposition. A short potential pulse was applied for nucleation prior to the second step, which was application of a lower potential for growth. This technique increased the surface coverage of damaged Cu seed layers from 78.10% to 99.46%. It was also shown to have the ability to repair an artificially damaged Cu seed layer with a 55 nm wide trench and to guarantee successful filling performance.</P>

        High Accuracy Concentration Analysis of Accelerator Components in Acidic Cu Superfilling Bath

        <P>We have devised a modified cyclic voltammetry stripping (CVS) method to measure the concentrations of bis-(sulfopropyl) disulfide (SPS) and 3-mercapto-1-propane sulfonate (MPS) in Cu plating solutions. Though MPS, a breakdown product of SPS, enhances the Cu deposition rate on flat electrodes, it is not a superfilling-capable accelerator for the damascene structure, unlike SPS. Therefore, accurate measurement of SPS in damascene Cu plating baths is important. However, enhancement of the Cu deposition rate by MPS interferes with the electrochemical signal of SPS, leading to a significant error when using the modified linear approximation technique (MLAT)-CVS analysis method. To evaluate their concentrations individually, a two-step CVS analysis was performed in which the total accelerator concentration ([SPS] + 1/2[MPS]) and conversion ratio were separately determined. All MPS species in the bath were oxidized to SPS by controlling the plating solution pH. Subsequent MLAT-CVS analysis successfully revealed the total accelerator concentration in the Cu plating solution. Individual SPS and MPS concentrations were thereby calculated using the conversion ratio evaluated from the difference in their relative accelerating abilities. This modified method enabled determination of the SPS concentration with <10% error, suggesting a reliable and high accuracy tool to predict pattern filling capabilities of plating solutions.         Complete Atrioventricular Block in Adult Sjogren`s Syndrome with Anti-Ro Autoantibody

        Anti-Ro autoantibody is associated with Sjogren`s syndrome (SS), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and neonatal lupus syndrome (i.e., congenital complete heart block in newborns). Generally, the adult atrioventricular (AV) node is believed to be relatively resistant to the scarring effects of anti-Ro/anti-La autoantibodies. However, there have been some reports of adult complete AV block in SS and SLE patients. Here, we report a case of complete heart block in primary SS with anti-Ro autoantibodies, with no other risk factor for the development of heart block, and review their etiological association.         Concentration Dependences of the Isotropic Raman Line Widths of Acetonitrile and Acetonitrile-d$_3$ in Carbon Tetrachloride

        Concentration dependences of the isotropic Raman line widths for the $ {\nu}_1$ (C-H and C-D) and the ${\nu}_2\;(C{\equiv}N)$ modes for $CH_3CN$ and $CD_3CN\;in\;CCl_4$ solutions have been investigated. For the ${\nu}_1$ modes, the dephasing seems to be a good description for the isotropic line broadening in $CCl_4$ solution even though the concentration fluctuation can reproduce the experimental results also. For the ${\nu}_2$ modes, the concentration fluctuation was the dominant mechanism for the concentration-dependent line broadening.

        수양성 설사로 발현된 다발성 내분비 선종증 1예

        MEN1 is characterized by the combined occurrence of tumors of the parathyroids, pancreatic islet cells and the anterior pituitary. Pancreatic islet cell tumors occur in 40% of MEN1 patients. Pancreatic polypeptidomas occur most commonly but they are asymptomatic. Gastrinomas are the second most common type. VIPomas are rare and there has been no report of a case in Korea so far. We encountered a case of pancreatic VIPoma in MEN Type I. A 49 year old man was referred from his local hospital presenting with a sudden onset of an explosive watery diarrhea of 3 months duration. Abnormal findings in his blood chemistry were hypercalcemia and hypokalemia. The ^99mTc-sestamibi sintigraphy showed an increased uptake in right lower parathyroid gland. Abdominal CT demonstrated a mass of 6×4 ㎝ in tail of the pancreas and multiple lesions in both hepatic lobes. Serum levels of VIP hormones were elevated. Subtotal parathyroidectomy and subtotal pancreatectomy were done. Postoperatively his symptoms were improved transiently, however the patient showed repetitive attacks of watery diarrhea. So in order to palliate his symptoms, an RF ablation of the metastatic liver masses was performed. After that therapy his clinical symptoms were reduced dramatically. Unfortunately, the patients condition worsened again. Despite of continuous octreotide therapy, interferon and two courses of combination chemotherapy, the hepatic metastases failed to regress and the patient died 10 months after the diagnosis of a metastatic VIPoma. This is the first report of pancreatic VIPoma in MEN type I in Korea

        골스캔을 이용한 천장관절/천골섭취비의 정량적 측정

        $quot;To evaluate the diagnostic usefulness and significance of quantitative sacroiliac joint scintigraphy in the assessment of sacroiliitis, we measured Sacroiliac Joint/Sacrum Uptake Ratio(SIS Ratio) by region of interest(ROI) method using Tc-99m-methylene diphosphonate. The observed results were as follows: 1) Using ROI method, the SIS ratios for the control group of 65 persons were 1.05±0.08(left) and 1.06±0.07(right) which were narrower in range than those of slice method(mean±S.D.) 2) The effects of age, gender and laterality on SIS ratio were not significant. 3) In left side, one of 6 patients with rheumatoid arthritis had SIS ratio in excess of 2 standard deviation of normal control group, and remainder had SIS ratios within normal limit. In right side, 3 patients had SIS ratios in excess of 2 standard deviation of normal control group, and remainder, within normal limit. 4) In both sacroiliac joint, 2 of 3 patients having sacroiliitis clinically with Reiter's syndrome whose pelvis AX-ray findings showed normal had high SIS ratios (left/right;1.31/1.69, 1.90/1.80), but SIS ratio of one patient who bad no evidence of sacroiliitis clinically was within normal limit. 5) In 6 patients with ankylosing spondylitis in both sacroiliac joints, q whose pelvis A-P X-ray findings showed severe sclerotic change of sacroiliac pints had SIS ratio within normal limit or below that of normal control group, and SIS ratios of 2 patients whose pelvis A-P X-ray findings showed were increased. 6) 4 of 5 patients with low back pain of which cause could not be evaluated clinically and radiologically had SIS ratios in excess of that of normal control group. It would be concluded the quantitative sacroiliac joit scintigraphy is useful and sensitive screening method in the diagnosis as well as in the assessment clinical activity of sacroiliitis.$quot;

        Kinetic Energy Release in the Fragmentation of tert-Butylbenzene Molecular Ions. A Mass-analyzed Ion Kinetic Energy Spectrometric (MIKES) Study

        Kinetic energy release in the fragmentation of tert-butylbenzene molecular ion was investigated using mass-analyzed ion kinetic energy spectrometry. Method to estimate kinetic energy release distribution (KERD) from experimental peak shape has been explained. Experimental KERD was in good agreement with the calculated result using phase space theory. Effect of dynamical constraint was found to be important.

        Accuracy Improvement in Cyclic Voltammetry Stripping Analysis of Thiourea Concentration in Copper Plating Baths

        <P>Cyclic voltammetry stripping (CVS) has been regarded as a powerful tool for monitoring the concentrations of organic additives in plating baths. In this study, the dilution titration (DT) method of CVS was modified to improve the measurement accuracy of thiourea (TU) concentrations in Cu plating baths. The conventional DT-CVS method cannot guarantee high accuracy because the electrochemical behavior of TU is concentration and potential dependent, which can cause disturbances in the response signals. In this study, by adding polyethylene glycol (PEG) as an organic additive, the undesirable electrochemical behavior of TU was suppressed and the accuracy of DT-CVS was greatly improved. Using the improved method, the concentrations of TU and its derivatives in the plating bath were measured. The errors between the real and measured concentrations were reduced from 15.0%, 36.0%, and 15.0% using the conventional DT-CVS method to within 3.00%, 6.00%, and 6.00% for TU, N-ethyl thiourea, and N<SUP>′</SUP>,N-diethyl thiourea, respectively, using the improved method.</P>

        Concentration Dependence of the $\nu_1$ Isotropic Raman Band of Nitromethane in Chloroform-d, Pyridine-d$_5$, 1,3,5-Trifluorobenzene, and Hexafluorobenzene

        Concentration dependences of the isotropic Raman band width and the peak position for the ${\nu}_1$ (C-H stretching) mode of nitromethane in chloroform-d, pyridine-$d_5$, 1,3,5-trifluorobenzene, and hexafluorobenzene have been investigated. For all solutions, the experimental concentration dependences have been well described by the concentration fluctuation model of Knapp and Fischer when appropriate values for the effective numbers (N) of nearest neighbors were used. For the $CH_3NO_2/C_6F_6$ solution, an abnormally small value (2) of N indicates strong intermolecular interaction.
