        Inhibitory Effects of Organic Acids Combined with Modified Atmosphere Packaging on Foodborne Pathogens on Cabbage

        Inhibitory effects of organic acids combined with modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) on foodborne pathogens, including Escherichia coli O157:H7, Salmonella Typhimurium, and Listeria monocytogenes, on cabbage were evaluated. The cabbage samples were inoculated with cocktails containing each of the three stains, treated with three different organic acids (acetic, lactic, and malic acids) for 10 min at room temperature, and then dried. Populations of E. coli O157:H7, S. Typhimurium, and L. monocytogenes on cabbage were significantly reduced by treatment with 2% acetic, 1% lactic, and 2% malic acids, and their reduction levels were 1.9, 3.3, and 2.6 log10 CFU/g, respectively. Cabbage samples were packaged using four different methods (air, vacuum, N2 gas, and CO2 gas) following treatment with distilled water or 2% lactic acid for 10 min at room temperature and then stored at 10oC. Initial populations of E. coli O157:H7, S. Typhimurium, and L. monocytogenes on cabbage were approximately 6.2, 6.7, and 5.1 log10 CFU/g, respectively, and treatment with 2% lactic acid for 10 min reduced the three pathogens by 3.1, 3.3, and 2.4 log10 CFU/g, respectively. As a result, inhibitory effects of the pathogens were significantly reduced by 2% lactic acid than when using distilled water. MAP was effective in maintaining reduced levels of pathogens during storage following the treatments. However, no significant differences in the levels of pathogens were observed among the samples packaged under four different gas conditions.

        Efficiency and efficient management on maintenance/repair/operation (MRO) phase is getting important with advance in technologies and complex functionalities of building and facility, Using software systems as well as advanced hardware systems in MRO area is spreading along with this trend to take advantage of information technology. Information of building and facility for MRO phase is derived from engineering/procurement/construction (EPC) phase. But most current commercial software systems in EPC and MRO are focusing on their own phase, which arise lack of consistency of information from EPC to MRO phase. But, the information system now used at the MRO phase stop flowing the building and the facilities information and then newly create. Moreover, from an asset management point of view, asset particulars such as the structures and equipments are different the value fluctuation. In order to reflect these information rationally, the construction costs are correctly distributed and the initial price of the asset particulars have to be estimated. In this study, develop the information model which can apply the cost information at the EPC phase to the MRO phase.

        Alport 증후군 환아 12명의 임상적 고찰

        Purpose: Alport SD., the most common herectitary rephriris, is a renal disease with rapid progression. Deafness, ocular abnormalities and a specific EM finding may be associated in addition to a family history. We have aralyged retrospectively. Methods: We observed 12 children with Alport syndrome who were diagnosed at Dept. of pediatrics in Kyunghee Univ., College of Medicine, from Apr. 1991 until Jun. 1999. We used four criteria for diagnosis: renal disease, family history, deafness or eye abnormalities, and a specific finding in electron microscopy Results: 2 of 12 patients had all features of the four diagnostic criteria. We could not trace an exact family history in 3 patients, and 6 patients did not exhibit deafness or eye abnormality. One could not have renal biopsy because offer chronic renal failure. Other three criteria were observed in her. The ratio of male to female observed was 1:2 respectively and the mean age of initial renal symptom was 5.6 years. 9 of 12 patients had a family history of renal disease. In the audiogram and ocular examination for 11 of 12 cases, sensorineural hearing loss was observed in 6 and ocular abnormality in 2 cases. In electron microscopic finding, irregular thickness of the capillary basement membranes with lamination of lamina densa and foot process obliteration was noted in 9 of 11 and thin basement membrane with splitting and foot process obliteration was noted in the other 2. The mean period of follow-up was 3 6/12 years. And one patient developed the chronic renal failure until now and had kidney transplantation. Conclusion: For the diagnosis of Alport syndrome, the following four diagnostic criteria are very important : renal disease, family history, deafness or eye abnormalities, and a specific finding on electron microscopy. We expect that more patients can be detected through the analysis of these characteristics.

        전군 공통 서비스 구현을 위한 국방 IoT 적용방향 연구

        The Army, Navy, and Air Force are currently making various efforts to apply defense IoT technology by reflecting the characteristics of each military. However, there are concerns that comprehensive collection, management, and analysis may be limited because each military has no overlapping system or guaranteed interoperability of data, and there are inefficient aspects in terms of using and investing a limited defense budget. In this study, evaluation items and priorities for pilot projects were selected by applying Delphi technique and AHP method to determine which projects are preferentially effective when commonly applied in terms of Army, Navy, and Air force. As a result of the analysis, the project basis and driving force, project feasibility, performance and ripple effect, redundancy and connection were identified in the order of IoT-based small detachment units and unmanned base construction, intelligent smart unit, smart ground ammunition depot, and smart training management system. According to the comprehensive results reflecting the weights of each evaluation item, the fact that small detachment units and unmanned base construction project are recognized as the first project to be applied to the Army, Navy, and Air Force is a valid approach to be effective while each military is burdened with personnel management because of the reduction of manpower. Through the research results, it is expected that the direction of application to the policy of the defense IoT project can be confirmed in terms of efficient use of limited budgets.

        Growth and Predictive Model of Bacillus cereus on Blanched Spinach with or without Seasoning at Various Temperatures

        The growth of Bacillus cereus on blanched spinach with or without seasoning at various temperatures (15, 20, 25, 30, and 35oC) was investigated. The number of B. cereus on blanched spinach stored at 35oC was significantly increased and resulted in maximum populations (7.8 log CFU/g) after 10 h. However, the growth rate of B. cereus on blanched spinach with seasoning stored at 35oC was lower than on blanched spinach without seasoning. The growth rate (GR) of B. cereus on blanched spinach stored at 15oC was lower than the other temperatures. The lag time (LT) of B. cereus on blanched spinach with seasoning was longer than blanched spinach without seasoning. Primary growth models of B. cereus on blanched spinach fit well to a modified Gompertz model (blanched spinach R2 =0.98; blanched spinach with seasoning R2 =0.96). These results might be used for developing safe storage guidelines for cooked vegetable at various temperatures.

        Analytical Modeling of Natural Convection in a Tall Rectangular Enclosure with Multiple Disconnected Partitions

        In this study, laminar natural circulation and heat transfer in a tall rectangular enclosurewith disconnected vertical partitions inside were investigated. Analytical expressions weredeveloped to predict the circulation flow rate and the average Nusselt number in a partiallypartitioned enclosure with isothermal side walls at different temperatures and insulatedtop and bottom walls. The proposed formulas are then validated against numerical resultsfor modified Rayleigh numbers of up to 106. The impacts of the governing parameters arealso examined along with a discussion of the heat transfer regimes.

      • 국방 Simulation 시스템 기반에서 CMMS적용 방안 연구

        군(軍)에서는 효율적이고 경제적인 국방경영의 도구로써 M&S(Modeling & Simulation)를 적극 활용하고 있지만 개발과정에서 각기 다른 개발자와 사용자 요구에 의해 개발된 모델들 간의 상호운용성과 재사용성측면에서 비효율적인 문제가 지적되고 있다. 이를 극복하기 위해 미국, 스웨덴 등 국방 선진국에서는 임무공간 개념모델 (CMMS, Conceptual Model of the Mission Space) 개발환경 구조 및 방법을 적용하여 국방 M&S 모델링을 진행함에 따라 개발 및 운용과정에서의 상호운용성과 재사용성 문제를 개선하고자 노력하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 선진국 개발사례를 분석하여 한국군의 현실적인 전장기능 개념과 특수성이 반영된 임무 공간 개념모델(K-CMMS) 적용방안을 제시한다.

      • 위험의 불확실성을 고려한 임무할당에 관한 연구

        위험관리는 사건 발생할 확률에 대한 고려를 기본으로 진행한다. 위험관리는 사고 위험을 최소화하고 사건을 예방하는데 적용목적이 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 위험의 불확실성을 고려한 임무할당에 관한 프레임위크를 제시한다. 이를 적용하기 위하여 군 헬기 조종사임무할당 문제에 적용하여 타당성을 확인한다. 육군 헬기 부대의 안전한 임무할당을 위해 위험관리 적용절차를 제시한다. 임무할당 위험관리절차에서 위험평가를 위해 DEA방법을 적용하여 조종사, 헬기, 임무에 대한 상대적인 위험값을 계산한다. 또한 계산된 위험값을 반영하기 위해 목적계획법을 적용하여 의사결정자의 목표값이 반영된 현실적인 위험 감소된 임무 할당결과를 제시한다. 제시된 방법은 위험관리가 반영되어야 하는 다른 영역에서 효과적으로 적용될 수 있다.
