꽈배기 모자반 물 추출물의 항산화능과 물리적 특성에 대한 감마선 조사의 영향

본 연구에서는 꽈배기모자반 물 추출물에 식품산업에서 사용이 확대되고 있는 감마선 조사기술을 이용하여 항산화능의 변화를 알아보고, 꽈배기모자반 물 추출물의 높은 점성과 짙은 색상으로 인한 문제점을 개선하고자 하였다. 꽈배기모자반 물 추출물의 감마선 조사에 따른 항산화능의 변화를 알아보기 위해 총 페놀화합물 함량을 측정하고 DPPH radical 소거능을 측정하였다. 그 결과, 3~20 kGy의 감마선을 조사한 꽈배기모자반 물 추출물은 조사선량이 증가할수록 총 페놀화합물 함량이 증가하였고, DPPH radical 소거능도 증가하여 감마선 조사에 의해 항산화능이 증진되었다. 그리고 꽈배기모자반 물 추출물에 감마선 조사 시 물리적 특성 변화를 알아보기 위해 색상과 점도를 측정한 결과, 감마선 조사선량이 증가할수록 색이 옅어지고 점성이 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통해 꽈배기모자반 물 추출물에 감마선을 조사한 후 식품에 적용 시 가공특성을 개선시킬 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. 따라서 감마선 조사는 꽈배기모자반 물 추출물의 물리적 특성을 개선시키고 항산화능 또한 증진시키므로 식품산업에 적용 시 기존의 천연 항산화제의 단점을 개선시킬 수 있는 기술로서 사용이 확대될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. In this study, the antioxidant properties and physical characteristics of irradiated Sargassum siliquastrum water extract were evaluated. Samples were irradiated with Co<SUP>60</SUP> γ-ray at doses ranging from 3 to 20 kGy. They were then analyzed to investigate antioxidant properties, including total phenolic compound content and DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) radical scavenging activity. In addition, physical properties such as viscosity and color were evaluated. The results demonstrated that total phenolic compound content and DPPH radical scavenging activity were significantly improved (p<0.05) by irradiation. In terms of physical properties, viscosity and color were reduced in the irradiated extracts as compared to non-irradiated samples. In conclusion, gamma irradiation improved the antioxidant properties of Sargassum siliquastrum water extract, improving its original weak point as a natural antioxidant when applied in the food industry.

The neoplastic variant of calcifying odontogenic cyst has various designation, and its malignant counterpart has been reported as aggressive epithelial ghost cell tumor or odontogenic ghost cell carcinoma. Odontogenic ghost cell carcinoma(OGCC) is a rare carcinoma first documented in 1985. It is composed of varying sized islands of anucleated cells with homogenous, pale eosinophilic cytoplasm, so called ghost cells, were admixed with nucleated cells. We report a case of maxillary OGCC developed from odontogenic epithelial tumor in a 25-year-old man with literature review.
소아 피부근염의 임상적 특징과 예후: 후향적 연구 및 문헌 고찰

Background: Juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) is a rare but common childhood idiopathic inflammatory myopathy. Proximal muscle weakness and pathognomonic skin rash, Gottron papules, and heliotrope rash are characteristic clinical features of JDM. However, clinical analysis of JDM has rarely been reported in the Korean dermatologic literature. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the clinical features and outcomes of JDM in Korea and previous studies. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records and clinical photographs of patients diagnosed with JDM at Pusan National University Hospital (Busan and Yangsan) for 17 years (2005∼2021). Results: We encountered 12 patients with JDM (male to female ratio=7:5) with a mean age of 7.2 years. The most common clinical features were Gottron papules (100%), followed by Gottron sign (83.3%), malar rash (58.3%), heliotrope rash (41.7%), shawl sign (16.7%), calcinosis cutis (8.3%), and ulcer (8.3%). In all cases, there was no concurrent interstitial lung disease or an underlying malignancy. Only 1 of 12 patients complained of proximal muscle weakness, and four patients showed an increase in muscle enzymes in the laboratory test. The skin lesions gradually improved after systemic steroid or topical treatment in all cases. No additional proximal muscle weakness was found during the follow-up. Conclusion: Although proximal muscle weakness is a common symptom in JDM, clinically amyopathic JDM is commonly found in dermatologic clinics. Regardless of subtype, all patients responded well to treatment and rarely encountered recurrence. (Korean J Dermatol 2021;59(9):699∼706)
멸종위기종 붉은점모시나비(Parnassius bremeri )의 메타개체군 구조와 이주

메타개체군의 구조와 이주에 관한 이해는 종 보존을 위해서 필요하다. 본 연구는 붉은점모시나비 서식지에서 MRR 방법으로 나비의 이주패턴을 분석하고 패치연결성을 추정하였다. 그 결과 194(수컷: 137, 암컷: 57)개체가 포획 되었으며 이중 93 (수컷: 73, 암컷: 20)개체가 재포획되었다. 이주 분석에서 이입율은 23-150%, 이출율은 28-53%으로 나타났다. 패치면적과 이입 이출 개체수와의 회귀분석에서는 상관관계를 보이지 않았으며, 먹이식물 수와 이입 이출 개체수와의 회귀분석에서도 상관관계를 보이지 않았다. 그러나 이입 개체수와 패치간 거리와의 분석에서는 높은 상관관계를 보였다. 따라서 나비의 이주는 패치거리가 가까울수록 빈번하게 일어나고 있으나 패치의 면적이나 먹이식물 량과 관계가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 나비의 이주에서 암컷보다 수컷이 매우 활발한 것으로 나타났다. 패치의 위치에 따른 이주 패턴의 분석 결과 패치 네트워크상에서 중앙에 위치한 패치가 양쪽 끝에 위치한 개체군을 이어주는 역할을 하고 있으며 근접한 거리에 있는 패치들간 이주가 멀리 떨어진 패치에 비해 빈번한 이주가 일어나는 것을 보여주었다. 따라서 붉은점모시나비의 이주에 있어서 근거리에 위치한 패치들간 교류가 활발히 일어나고 있으며 패치와 패치를 이어주는 징검다리 역할을 하는 패치가 존재할 경우 교류가 더 활성화된다는 것을 제시하고 있다. Understanding the metapopulation structure and movement of a species are required for conserving the species. In this paper, migration patterns and connectivity of patches of a threatened butterfly, Parnassius bremeri Bremer, were postulated using the mark-release-recapture (MRR) technique in a habitat located in the mid-southern region of the Korean peninsula. A total of 194 individuals were captured (137 males and 57 females) and, of them, 93 individuals (73 males and 20 females) were recaptured during the MRR experiment. The migration analysis showed 23-150% immigration and 28-53% emigration. There were high correlations between the migrating individuals and the distance between patches, but there was no correlation between migrating individuals and patch size or between migrating individuals and the number of host plants. Consequently, the migration of butterflies occurred frequently between closer patches, while patch size and quantity of the food plant had minor effects on migration behavior. Additionally, males migrated more frequently than females. Analysis of the migration patterns of P. bremeri showed that the central patch played an important role on linking patch groups and more frequent migrations were monitored between nearby patches than between the remote patches. This study suggested that active migrations take place between the neighboring multiple patches and these are accelerated if there is a stepping-stone patch between them.

Piezoelectric energy harvester (PEH) as a box type was fabricated in order to harvest mechanical energy imparted to roadways from passing vehicles and convert it into electricity. The PEH was composed of 72 piezoelectric cantilevers with 9 springs with elasticity stick to a bottom of the PEH. For the single piezoelectric cantilever, when a single push with approximately 5 mm displacement was incident to it, power of 0.355 mW was produced at $100\;k{\Omega}$. It is found that the power from the single piezoelectric cantilever increases when spring constant is high. We investigated power of PEH when the moving vehicle passes in it. Power was increased with increasing vehicle speed. When vehicle speed is 30 km/h, power is 20.6 mW.
