The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of resorbable plate in the healing process of mandibular fracture. Reduction and rigid fixation was carried out on the artificial mandibular fracture site of the rabbits, using a resorbable screw, 1.5mm in diameter and 4.0mm in length, and an absorbable plate 1.5mm in thickness(Lactosorb$^{(R)}$). En block tissue specimens with plate were taken from the rabbits at 4, 6, 8, and 10 weeks intervals and specimen were observed with light microscope under the hematoxylin-eosin staining, to observe the inflammatory reaction and tissue healing process. The following conclusions were drawn: 1. The subject displayed good healing with no signs of detachment of the fixation plate. 2. At 4 weeks, the plate was covered by the connective tissue. Then at 6 weeks, bone regeneration was discovered around the plate. 3. During the period of healing, no inflammatory reaction or foreign body reaction, as a result of using resorbable plate, were observed. 4. At 8 weeks, the initial phase of the absorption of the plate was observed. Then at 10 weeks, macrophage were observed around the plate, indicating the absorption phase was in process. From the above results, it can be determined that when the resorbable plate is applied to rabbit, full recuperation occurs naturally in the absence of inflammatory reaction and foreign body reaction. The selected study is clinically valuable in proving this procedure.

Metallic bone plates and screws have been commonly used in oral and maxillofacial surgery for internal fixation. However, there are several disadvantages such as atrophy of cortical bone inherent to excessive rigid fixation systems, growth disturbance in growing individual, allergy reaction, interference with radiographic imaging, palpability, thermal sensitibity and the need for subsequent removal. To overcome these disadvantages and avoid additional surgery of removal of plates and screws, there have been many studies of biodegradable plates and screws. But, It also has complication such as foreign body reactions. We have undertaken a clinical and retrospective study on 140 patients in Dept. of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Inha University Hospital from February 2006 to March 2009. The purpose of this study is to report the clinical cases and review of the literatures with biodegradable plates and screws. And we concluded following results. 1. 6 cases(3.4%) of the 177 operation sites(140 patients) experienced complications. 1 case(0.6%) was a failure of initial fixation, 1 case(0.6%) was a postoperative infection, 4 cases(2.3%) were inflammations or foreign body reaction. 2. Postoperative infections, inflammations and foreign body reactions were completely recovered with incision and drainage, supporative care with antibiotic coverage and removal of biodegradable plates. 3. Biodegradable plates and screws provide acceptable rigidity and stability clinically. But, long-term observation is required for the tissue reactions around the biodegradable plates and screws because of long resorption periods of the biodegradable materials.

This paper presents the analysis of the analysis of thrust characteristics of linear induction motors(LIMs) according to secondary reaction plate. LIMs are well known as high speed transport systems, which can obtain thrust directly without gears and links, or auxiliary mechanisms. A simple structure, easy maintenance, and less environmental pollution are advantages of LIMs. In transport systems using LIMs, the secondary reaction plate is an important design factor, because it has considerable impact on the cost of the railway as well as the performance of the LIMs. This paper deals analyzed the characteristics of linear induction motor used for moving the vehicle of container scanner. Thrust, efficiency and load characteristic were interpreted with FEM regarding two models whose material of secondary reaction plate was copper and aluminum. It suggested the interpretation of thrust, efficiency and power factor characteristic along slip and compared the operation ability of linear induction motor through characteristics analysis along the load.
Analysis of circular plates on two - parameter elastic foundation
Saygun, Ahmet,Celik, Mecit Techno-Press 2003 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.15 No.2
In this study, circular plates subjected to general type of loads and supported on a two-parameter elastic foundation are analysed. The stiffness, elastic bedding and soil shear effect matrices of a fully compatible ring sector plate element, developed by Saygun (1974), are obtained numerically assuming variable thickness of the element. Ring sector soil finite element is also defined to determine the deflection of the soil surface outside the domain of the plate in order to establish the interaction between the plate and the soil. According to Vallabhan and Das (1991) the elastic bedding (C) and shear parameters ($C_T$) of the foundation are expressed depending on the elastic constants ($E_s$, $V_s$) and the thickness of compressible soil layer ($H_s$) and they are calculated with a suitable iterative procedure. Using ring sector elements presented in this paper, permits the generalization of the loading and the boundary conditions of the soil outside the plate.

This study focused on the increase of lime plate strength by adding reinforced material into limestone and chemical reaction with carbon dioxide gas. Also we did experiment to find the optimum content of plaster as a binding component. Carbon fiber as reinforced material has disadvantages. It did not mixed well in the forming process and had low cohesion force with limestone. Content of glass fiber showed optimum at 1.0cm, 4.16 wt% in lime plate. The increase of strength in lime plate was ??, after reaction with CO₂at 70℃ for 6hr. When lime plate consists of 40wt% of plaster, 4.16 wt% of 1.0cm glass fiber, its strength was ??

A plate-paralel gridded ionization chamber (PPGIC) with gaseous samples has been developed for measurement of the (n,α) reaction cross sections to evaluate radiation damage and nuclear heating in fusion and for the selection of fusion structural materials. The PPGIC was designed for its applications in an environment with an intense neutron source, like realistic fusion. However, the application of gaseous samples in the PPGIC essentialy lower the beam background and in comparison with a conventional GIC with a solid sample, the utilization of a gaseous sample has advantages of a very high geometrical efficiency and freedom from the eect of energy loss in sample. We have demonstrated the characteristics of the PPGIC and the possibilities of using the PPGIC with gaseous samples to measure the (n,α) reactions for fusion neutronics and nuclear data.

Two modulus, strain modulus (Ev) and subgrade reaction modulus (K30) are being used as a standard for bearing stiffness in Korea Railroad design. The first is used in Europe and the other is used in Japan. The methodologies to obtain the two modulus are similar in using plate. But testing methods are different in loading to plate. Therefore, according to soil strain range, there should be large gap in not only computations of deformation modulus but also the necessary time to test. At first, this paper focuses on the two kinds of test methods to evaluate bearing stiffness. Secondly, based on elastic theory, the theory to obtain the two coefficients are studied thoroughly. Finally, the correlations between the two coefficients were analyzed and evaluated based on the field test results more than 38 places. The matching values for subgrade and ground between K30 and Ev2 are proposed with the consideration of the proposed strain reduction factor (1.5 for subgrade and 3 for ground) and safety factor, respectively.
Effects of Nano-sized Diamond on Wettability and Interfacial Reaction for Immersion Sn Plating
Yu, A-Mi,Kang, Nam-Hyun,Lee, Kang,Lee, Jong-Hyun The Korean Microelectronics and Packaging Society 2010 마이크로전자 및 패키징학회지 Vol.17 No.3
Immersion Sn plating was produced on Cu foil by distributing nano-sized diamonds (ND). The ND distributed on the coating surface broke the continuity of Sn-oxide layer, therefore leading to penetrate the molten solder through the oxide and retarding the wettability degradation during a reflow process. Furthermore, the ND in the Sn coating played a role of diffusion barrier for Sn atoms and decreased the growth rate of intermetallic compound ($Cu_6Sn_5$) layer during the solid-state aging. The study confirmed the importance of ND to improve the wettability and reliability of the Sn plating. Complete dispersion of the ND within the immersion Sn plating needs to be further developed for the electronic packaging applications.

Reaction-bonded SiC-Si material was fabricated by infiltration of Si melt into a mixture of $\alpha$-SiC and carbon at 175$0^{\circ}C$ under the vacuum atmosphere. Wear properties were analyzed by ball-on-plate wear tester, changing loading weight, sliding speed, sliding time and atmosphere, Results showed that the friction coefficient was decreased with increasing load and sliding velocity. The lowest friction coefficient of 0.05 was obtained under an oil atmosphere. The analysis of the wear surface indicated that the areas wehre particles were pulled out and where free silicon particles worn out preferentially serve as liquid reservoirs to decrease the wear resistance.
