        We have usually experienced bone conduction impairment in chronic otitis media, but it is unclear that raised bone conduction threshold is due to the reflection of cochlear dam- age and / or Carhart effect ( an artificial elevation of bone conduction threshold due to conductive defect ) or both. The purpose of this study is to verify the influence of the artificial elevation of the bone conduction threshold in chronic otitis media and to estimate Carhart effect. A total of 336 cases of tympanoplasty with unilateral chronic otitis media without any other causes of sensorineural hearing loss was studied. The average threshold levels of the bone conduction in diseased ears ranged from 18.5dB at 4kHz to 12.1dB at 250Hz The longer duration of the disease, the larger perforation size, the more severe damage of the middle ear structure and the presence of the cholesteatoma made bone conduction threshold increased. The postoperative thresholds of bone conduction were Improved in 36 cases (40.4%) of the 89 cases that underwent operation with type I tympanoplasty technique without electrie drilling. The degree of the maximal improvement was 14.3dB at 2000Hz and the minimum was 8.8dB at 250Hz. but these result did differ from a statistically significant degree. The result suggest that the bone conduction threshold in chronic otitis media is elevated artificially by conductive defect and improved by successful reconstructive surgery.

      • 菜蔬類 種子發芽에 關한 硏究 : 1. Effect of N??-benzyladenine on germination of celery seeds in light and dark condition 第1報 光, 暗黑상태에서 Celery(Apium graveolens L.) 種子의 發芽에 미치는 N??-benzyladenine의 影響

        Celery種子는 發芽期間이 길고 高溫期에는 發芽가 不良하고 特히 暗黑상태에서는 發芽率이 극히 떨어지는 菜蔬인데 BA를 處理 함으로써 發芽促進의 效果와 實用化를 究明코저 BA를 濃度別로, Celery 品種 Cornel 619號에 處理하여 試驗한 結果는 다음과 같다. 1) 發芽床處理에서는 5ppm까지는 對照區 보다 發芽率, 發芽勢가 增加되었고 平均發芽期間도 短縮되었다. 2) 2時間 浸淸處理 試驗에서는 光條件 暗黑상태 모두 낮은 濃度에서 發芽率, 發芽勢가 增加 하였으나 平均發芽期間은 오히려 濃度가 높을수록 增加하는 傾向을 보였다. 3) 1時間浸淸處理와 30分處理 試驗에서 光條件下에서는 濃度가 높을수록 發芽率, 發芽勢가 떨어졌으며 平均發芽期間은 濃度間에 差異가 없었으나 對照區보다 促進되었다. 暗黑상태에서는 濃度間에 差異가 없었다. 4) 以上의 結果로서 BA發芽床處理나 1時間, 30分浸淸處理로서 高溫期와 暗黑상태에서 發芽를 促進시킬 수 있으리라 생각되었다. In the view of difficulty in seed germination of Celery during the high temperature season and in the dark condition, a study was conducted with N6-benzladenine(BA) to investigate any promote influence of the germination of celery var. Cornel #619 seeds and its practical value when applied at various concentration. 1. The seed-bed treatment of the 5 ppm or its low levels of BA showed promoted germination of seeds and shortened mean number of days necessary for germination. 2. When the Celery seed was dipped in BA at the lower and higher Concentration, it was found that BA increased both germinating percentage and also advanced germinating speed. 3. When seed was dipped for 1 hour and 30 minute in the higher concentration of BA both germinating percentage and speed of germination decreased. There was no relationship between BA concentration and germination time, However germination was more advanced than in the control. 4. The result show that dipping speed for 30 minute and 1 hour not only restores slow germination in this country but also has possible practical uses in promoting germination of Celery seed in dark conditions.

      • 한라부추(Allium taquetii)의 生態的 特性에 關한 硏究 Ⅲ. 日長處理가 生育 및 體內成分含量에 미치는 影響

        . This study was conducted ot obtain the information about the effect of photoperiod on the growth Allium taquetii and its natural habitat in Mt. Halla. The results obtained summarized as follows; 1) Long day treatment promoted the growth rate and extand the grouth period of Allium taquetill. Photoperiod longer than 16hrs inhibits the growth rate. 2) Short day (8hrs) treatment increased the number of leaves and division, and the long day treatment (16hrs and 24hrs) increased the growth of bulbs. 3) Bolting date and flowering date was shortened by 8hrs treatment, but the number of bolting was decreased, long day(16hrs and 24hrs) treatment affected the number of boltings, but did not affect flowering. 4) Total sugar contents of Allium taquetii were larger in long day treatment than in the short day treatment. 5) Based on the results of plant hormone analysis, the 8hrs treatment was optimal for the growth of Allium taquetii, but the photoperiod did not affect the growth of bulbs.

      • 生長調節物質 處理가 寒暖地型 마늘의 生育, 鱗莖肥大 및 二次生長에 미치는 影響

        The effects of immersion of seed bulbs in and foliar application of growth regulators on growth, bulbing and the secondary growth of the two ecotypes ; 1) both immersion of seed bulbs in GA solution and foliar application promoted the secondary growth; 2) top part increased with the low level of GA applied to leaves, and dry and fresh weights of bulbs tended to incerase as the leaf part decreased; 3) application of ethephon at 400ppm to leaves decreased plant heights, leaf sheath length and leaf number as compared to that at the other levels, but increased neck dia-meter, clove number, dry and fresh weight of bulbs and the secondary growth of both ecotypes;4) application of BA to leaves increased clove number, dry and fresh weight of bulbs and the secondary growth, and its effect was much higher than that of ethephon; and 5) application of NAA at 200 to 400ppm to leaves also decreased top part, clove number, dry and fresh weight of bulbs but increased the secondary growth.

        Hedera helix의 葉柄과 Leaf disc를 切取하여 生長調節物質을 달리한 Blayde's 基本培地에 培養하였던바, 그 結果를 要約하면 다음과 같다. 1. NAA 2㎎/ℓ+Kinetin 2㎎/ℓ에서 Callus의 形成이 가장 旺盛하였다. 2. 誘起된 Callus로부터 不定根의 發生은 NAA 5㎎/ℓ單獨處理에서 가장 효과가 있었다. 3. 不定根의 發生樣相은 Leaf disc에서는 多束狀으로 葉柄에서는 산발적으로 나타났다. 4. 2,4-D가 組合된 培地에서 Callus의 褐變現象이 나타났으며, 2,4-D의 濃度가 높을수록 현저했다. The leaf petioles and discs of Hedera helix were cultured on the Blayde's basic medium supplemented with various combinations of growth regulators. The results obtained are summarized as follows : 1. The calluses were induced vigorously from the Blayde's medium supplemented with 2㎎/1 NAA and 2㎎/1 kinetin. 2. The best growth of adventitous roots appeared on the calluses that had formed on the media cantaining only 5㎎/1 NAA. 3. Multiple roots were formed on the calluses of leaf disc, whereas single roots on the those of leaf petiole. 4. Brownish calluses were observed on the media with 2, 4-D.

      • 日長處理가 가을시금치 生育 및 成分含量에 미치는 影響

        日長處理에 따른 시금치의 生育反應과 體內成分含量관계를 규명코져 수행했던 結果를 보고코져 한다. 1) 시금치의 生育상태는 韓國種이 日本種보다 良好하였고, 日長이 길수록 生育이 促進된다는 傾向을 보였다. 2) 抽苔率은 日長이 길수록 높았는데 16時間 處理한 것에서 현저히 높았다. 3) 糖含量은 두 品種間에는 差異가 없었으나 日長이 길수록 自然日長보다 減少하였다. 4) 비타민 C의 含量은 韓國種이 日本種보다 增加하였고 16時間 長日處理한 것에서 현저히 많았다. 5) 品種間에는 韓國種이 미량원소가 많았고 日長處理別로는 N는 短日상태에서, K는 自然日長에서, Ca, Mg 및 Fe는 長日狀態에서 各各 많아지는 傾向을 보였다. This study was carried out to examine the growth responsibility and inorganic compound contents of autum spinach, according to length of treatment. The results are summarised as follows : 1) Spinach growth was increased in the Korean variety, more than in the Japanese variety, but as the length of treatment was longer, the condition of plant growth is superior to that of any other plot. 2) Also, the longer the treatment period, the bolting ratio became higher, and in the 16 hours treatment plot, it appeared higher than any other plot. 3) There was no difference in sugar contents within each variety. However, the longer the treatment period, the less sugar contents. 4) Regarding vitamin c contents, as related to a 16 hour treatment period, it increased more than any other plot. 5) Regarding inorganic compound contents, microelements increased more in the Korean variety than in the Japanese variety, according to length of treatment. Nitrogen increased with the short day treatment, potassium increased in a natural day length, Calcium, Magnesium and Iron increased in the long day treatment.

      • 감자 養液栽培時 苗素質이 괴경형성에 미치는 영향

        This study was conducted to determine the effect of potato seedling charateristics on the tuber formation and tuber rooting. The results are summarized as follows: 1) Sixty days after transplanting in Aeroponic, the Aeroponic method increased the plant height 7.4cm and the plant diameter 2.0cm more than the NFT method. 2) Ninety days after transplanting maximum stolen number of AERO, 30.4cm longer than the NFT method, and stolen per plant of NFT 10.5cm more than the Aeroponic method. 3) Tuber number Per plant was 47.1 in Aeroponic and 42.4 in NFT. However, tuber formation rate was aero : 66%, NFT : 40.3% 4) The rooting speed of a stem cutting of 1~2mm seedling was faster than 5~6mm seedlings. 5) Forty days after stem cutting, stolen increased 3~4mm and stolen length showed 5~6mm. 6) Tuber yield was 40.3 for 1~2mm seedlings, 38.3 for 3~4mm, and 27.2 for 5~6mm, was 27.2 respectively. As we said above, we can estimate that Aeroponic method was good for seed tuber formation and proper stem cutting size was 1~3mm for hydroponics.

      • 固形배지 송이를 이용한 방울토마토 養液裁培 技術改發에 관한 硏究

        養液栽培에서 固形培地로서 송이 (Scoria)의 특성을 밝히고, 방울토마토를 栽培했을때의 收量特性에 미치는 영향을 究明코저 실시하였다. 共試品種은 Pepe, Pico, Yellow pico, Petit등 4品種이었고, 송이 以外의 固形培地는 Rock wool cube, Perlite 및 Huntan(rice hull charcoal)과 土壤栽培區를 設定하였으며 또 養液의 湛液水位를 달리한 試驗結果는 다음과 같다. 1. 培地로서의 Scoria의 吸水, 排水의 保水性은 다른 培地에 比해 우수하였으며, 몇 가지 化合物도 포함되 있었다. 2. 방울토마토를 栽培했을 때 Scoria 培地에서의 收量特性은 다른 培地區와 차이가 없었다. 3. 방울토마토의 糖度(Brix)는 培地에 따른 差異는 없었고, 겨울 生産培地에서 上位花房의 糖度가 低位花房의 糖度보다 높은 傾向이었다. 4. 培地로서의 송이의 크기는 직경 3mm에서 12mm 범위 것을 混合 使用 것이 무난하다고 생각되었다. 5. Scoria 培地耕에서 養液의 湛液水位에 따른 收量特性에는 差異가 認定되지 않았다. 6. 앞으로 養液의 給液間隔, 송이의 成分이 養液에 어떤 영향을 주는지에 대한 연구가 수행되어야 할 것으로 사료되었다.. This study was conducted to test the effect of various media on the yield and quality of cherry tomatoes on the nutrient solutions culture in Cheju do. The results obtained are as follows: 1. Scoria showed the better absorption, drainage and moisture retention than any other media, and it contained several compounds. 2. In case of cherry tomato cultivation, there was no big differences about yield characters among the media. 3. Also, there was no differences Brix according to the media. However, In case of winter cultivation, epistatic flower was higher Brix than the hypostaic flower. 4. We estimated that is good to mixed from diameter 3mm to diameter 12mm of the scoria. 5. In case of the scoria media, there was no differences at yield characters according to immersion liquid of nutrient solution.

      • 灰鑄鐵의 低周波爐 熔解에서 鑄鐵 加工屑 添加에 依한 黑鉛組織 改善

        It is clear that while the use of electric melting and holding makes possible very high levels of casting quality and consistency, there are a number of operational factors to be controlled. A prolonged holding of molten iron at a higher temperature is likely to cause an increase in chilling tendency, tensile strength and hardness with the formation of undercooled structures. The post inoculation of materials such as Ca-Si, Fe-Si or graphite can produce the opposite effect but it is limited in its possible quantity, resulted in drop of the temperature of tapped melt. In contrast the furnace addition of iron chips prior to tapping makes castings of satisfied quality with a high level of uncleation a low chilling tendency and a typed graphites graph in the electric furnace melt by suppling active nuclei materials.
