저자들은 최근 화농성 슬관절염과 병발한 수막구균성 수막염 1예를 체험하였고, 이는 국내에서 아직 보고되지 않은 드문 예로 사료되어 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. We recently experienced a case of meningococcal meningitis associated with pyogenic arthritis in a 37-year old male patient. Pyogenic arthritis developed in right knee joint during treatment for meningococcal meningitis. He was treated successfully by appropriate antibiotics and arthroscopic irrigation. To our knowledge, such a rare case has not ever been reported in Korea, Hence we report this case with a review of related literatures.

Background: Confrontational naming test is useful in evaluating the language function. It reveals memory and cognitive processing dysfunctions in many neurologic diseases including dementia. Although the Korean version of the Boston Naming Test (K-BNT) has been a popular and useful test, it takes much time and effort in dementia patients of moderate to severe stage of disease or in elderly individual with low educational level. So we developed the Korean Naming Test (KNT). Methods: KNT consists of relatively easy 40 items. Each item was familar materials around us and simplified figures with black thick line. Ninety two of probable Alzheimer's patients received the Korean version of Mini-Mental State Examination (K-MMSE), the Korean version of expanded Clinical Dementia Rating Scale (CDR), K-BNT and KNT. We tested reliability and validity of KNT and also evaluated scores of the KNT along with CDR. Results: The KNT correlated with K-BNT [0.75(p;0.01)], CDR [-0.49(p;0.01)], K-MMSE [0.55(p;0.01)]. The internal consistency was 0.91 (Cronbach's alpha). The KNT score decreased as the disease progressed. Conclusions: The KNT is a brief and good test for evaluating language function of moderate to severe dementia patients with low educational level. Also it is sensitive to mild stage of disease and has a excellent reliability and validity.

As a technology to machine the 3-dimensional shapes of general metal material more flexibly, machining technologies such as metal cutting, grinding, etc have been steadily improved in their accuracy as well. However, the working method using machining technologies are restricted in terms of surface roughness, metal working accuracy and working hours, if a workpiece has an irregular 3-dimensional shape. Magnetic abrasive finishing process is also one of the super-precision machining technologies which proceed with the finishing metal working of precision working piece using the action of magnetic field and the mixed type magnetic abrasive. However, such studies only focus on the improvement of machining accuracy but are still incomplete in investigating the roundness. This study aims to realize the high accuracy finishing machining focusing on the roundness after magnetic abrasive finishing process of circular workpiece and the surface roughness of precision machining surface.

The determination of surface middleography is believed to be extremely important in the areas of contact mechanics, adhesion and friction. In order to describe middleography of various rubbed and hardened surface, the wear test was carried out under different experimental conditions in dry friction. And fractal descriptors was applied to rubbed and hardened surface of laser modified steel with image processing system. These descriptors to analyze surface structure are fractal dimension. Surface fractal dimension can be determined by sum of intensity difference of surface pixel. middleography of rubbed and hardened surface can be effectively obtained by fractal dimensions.

Morphological analysis of wear particles is one of useful methods for machine condition monitoring because it is well reflected in machine driving state. This paper was undertaken to apply to the condition monitoring of hydraulic piston motor. The lubricating wear test was performed under different experimental conditions using the wear test device and wear specimens of the pin on disk type was rubbed in paraffinic base oil by three kinds of lubricating materials, varying applied load, sliding distance. The four shape parameters (50% volumetric diameter, aspect, roundness and reflectivity) arc used for morphological analysis of wear particles. The results showed that the four shape parameters of wear particles depend on a kind of the lubricating materials. It was capable of calculating presumed wear volume for three kinds of mate-rials on driving time to foresee a damage condition of lubricating materials.

Pheochromocytoma is a rare functional adrenal tumor often producing catecholamines. Such secretion may induce hypertension, tachycardia or cardiac related symptoms. However, pheochromocytoma can present as an asymptomatic adrenal incidentaloma which may be difficult to detect; thus, leading to delay in proper surgical treatment. We report a 39-year-old female patient who presented with gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumor-like appearance on computed tomography, which was identified as a left retroperitoneal adrenal tumor after initial surgery. Before the second surgery, adrenal tumor shrinkage was detected without any causable event. The final pathology was confirmed as pheochromocytoma after the second surgery
