Histopathological changes and cadmium accumulations in the gills were investigated in crucian carp (Carassius auratus) exposed to 0, 0.01, 0.1, 0.5 mg/l cadmium (Cd)concentrations for 25 days. After 25 days of exposure, cadmium accumulations increased in each of the different exposure concentrations. Histopathological changes in the gills of curcian carp exposed to cadmium included the acidification of mucous cell, the terminal clubbing of lamellae, the hyperplasia of epitherial cell and the curved of secondary lamellae. The similar histopathological changes were observed once the accumulations of cadmium reached the similar levels found in the present study with the different exposure schemes. Also the acidification of mucous cell in gills appeared when cadmium accumulations reached 5 ㎍/g and more. These results suggested that histopathological changes in the gills, an appearance of mucous cell acidification, be used to estimate the relation between toxic effect and cadmium accumulations in the gills.

國內 畜産物加工品의 消費性向과 品質에 關한 硏究

國內 畜産物 加工品에 대하여 消費性向과 品質에 관하여 全南 都市地域 1,000名의 主婦들로부터 說問 調査한 結果와 30個 品目의 肉類 製品과 28個 品目의 牛乳製品에 대하여 一般 成分과 肉類 製品의 亞窒酸鹽 含量을 分析한 結果는 다음과 같다. 1. 1,000名의 主婦들 中 應答한 主婦들은 825名으로 82.5%였으며 應答한 主婦 대부분이 쇠고기와 돼지고기를 주로 購入하고 쇠 고기에 대한 選好度가 높으며 닭고기나 加工肉 製品의 利用度는 매우 낮았다. 2. 加工肉 製品에 대하여 購入하지 않는 理由로서는 맛이 없고, 품질이 나쁘며 製品의 값이 비싸다고 答하였다. 3. 牛乳 및 牛乳製品이 한 營養食品으로 認識되어 가고 消費層도 一般化 되어가는 傾向을 보이고 있었으나 치이즈나 버터 等의 一部 乳製品에 대하여서는 아직 消費와 認識水準이 낮은 傾向을 보였다. 4. 肉類 製品의 蛋白質 含量은 原科 豚肉의 亞窒酸鹽 含量은 規準値보다 훨씬 낮은 水準이었다. 5. 飮料用 牛乳의 乳脂肪 含量과 蛋白質 含量은 原乳의 平均値보다 낮았으며 포장에 포기된 含量値에도 不足하였고 特히 ice cream의 乳脂肪 含量이 더 낮았다. 6. 應答한 주부들 대부분은 政府가 食品에 대해서, 食品의 安定性, 營養 및 品質, 過正價格維持를 하여 주기를 바라는 傾向이었다. 7. 畜産 産業을 發達시키고 畜産物 加工 食品의 消費를 增加시키기 위해서는 製品의 品質과 맛을 改善시키며 消費者들의 食性에 맞는 多樣한 製品을 生産하는 것이 重要한 課題로 提起되었다. The study was conducted to investigate quality and propensity to consume animal processing products in the country. The experimenter asked a guestion of 1,000 homemakers in the chunnam urban area, analysed chemical content and sodium nitrite for 30 meat processing products, and analyzed chemical content for 28 milk products. The results are summarized as follows. Out of 1,000, 825homemakers responded to the guestion and most of them have preferred beef and pork to meat processing products and poultry meat because the momemakers got the meat processing products from high price, poor quality and unsavory. The experimenter thought that the consumption and the recongnition for milk and milk proucts were a genral tendency, except cheese and butter. The protein contents of pork processing products were low compared with raw pork, and the sodium nitrite contents were very low compared with a tolerance limit. The average milk fat and protein contents of market milk were low compared with raw milk, and the milk fat cotents of ice cream were very low. Most of homemakers wish the government will keep the stability, nutrition, quality and reasonable price of animal products. The experimenter thinks the livestock in dustry develops from increase of consumption of animal processing products by improving the guality, taste and developing the various animal processing products.

The necessity of the internet-aided instruction, and the advantages and restrictions of it were widely investigated as theoretical background, and the general principle of designing the instruction, model of procedure in science class, practical design of the internet-aided instruction procedure of it's development and effective approach of web design. On the basis of the above, experiment contents of 10 units in highschool common science (department of chemistry)were reconstructed, and deployment plan for teaching-learning guidance papers for experiments, reports of experiments, individualized problem for evaluation, self-learning references, guidance papers for teaching, figure files for forming concepts and principles were made. Experimental unit of chemical reaction speed which is difficult for the first grade highschool students is established, and it is made a form of CD-ROM title with animation and presentation techniques. As a result, Learning environment which raised learner's motivation was presented. Further more, based on web instruction model and instruction design principle for learning with internet, teaching-learning home page with HTML was made.

We have studied that dielectric and electrical properties of (Ba_(0.5),Sr_(0.5))TiO_(3) thin films deposited on Indium Tin Oxide-coated glass substrate by using rf-magnetron sputtering method in this paper. Substrates were heated at room, 300℃ , 400℃, and 500℃. Working pressure was changed 5mTorr, 10mTorr, 20mTorr, 30mTorr respectively substrates temperature, and Ar:O_(2), ratio was fixed 9:1. SEM analysis was conducted to investigate thickness of BST thin films. Dielectric constant, current-voltage(I-V), and transmittance were measured. We observed difference of that thickness, dielectric constant, current-voltage(I-V), and transmittance due to variable substrates temperature and working pressure. We also obtained best conditions at 400℃, 30mTorr. Dielectric constant was 209.1 at 1kHz, leakage current density was below 7.35X10^(-7)A/cm^(2) at 100V, and transmittance was over 91%.

The laying cost for the pipe line pressed by a pump is depend on the costs for the pump and pipes. The most economical pipe diameter is obtained when the summation of costs for the pump and pipes is minimum. Author studied on the most economical pipe diameters of PVC and cast-iron pipe lines in the water supply works, and obtained the general and occasional formula based on our social situations.

생약 추출물이 세포성장 및 cytokine 생산에 미치는 영향

The native connective tissue attachment of the periodontium is known to be a complex consisting of gingival fibroblasts, periodontal ligament cells, gingival epithelial cells, cementum, alveolar bone and extensive extracellular matrix (collagen, glycoprotein and proteoglycans). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of natural extracts on DNA, collagen and protein synthesis and inhibition of cytokine production in the gingival and periodontal ligament fibroblasts and gingival epithelial cells. Healthy gingibal tissue was obtained from orthodontic treatment patients, and gingival epithelial cells, gingival fibroblasts and periodontal ligament cells were isolated and cultured from the samples. After treated with Ginseng protein, Pluronic F-68, Scutellariae Radix, centella asiatica, PDGF, IGF, DNA synthesis, total protein and collagen synthesis, and cytokine production of gingival epithelial cell, gingival fibroblast and periodontal ligament cells were measured. MTT method for DNA synthesis, Peterkofsky and Dingerman method for total protein and collagen synthesis, and IL-1 ELISA kit for cytokine production were used. The proliferation of epithelial cells was enhanced in Centella asiatica, Ginseng protein, Pluronic F-68 and Scutellariae Radix. The activities of PDL cells were increased in PDGF, IGF, and Pluronic F-68. Higher collagen synthesis was observed in Scutellariae Radix and total protein synthesis was increased in Scutellariae Radix and PDGF. The inhibitory effects on IL-1, IL-6, TNF-α were observed in all exrracts.

보존적 치료로 회복된 망경색에 의한 급성복증 1예

Omental infarction, the end result of impaired perfusion to the greater omentum, is a rare benign self-limiting clinical entity. The main clinical symptom is non-specific localized abdominal pain with a moderately raised white blood cell and erythrocyte sedimentation rate. These findings often mimic an abdominal surgical emergency. This condition is often misdiagnosed as acute appendicitis or cholecystitis. The characteristic feature of CT scan and ultrasonography provide non-invasive diagnosis in most patients with omental infarction. We report a case of patient whose CT scan showed the characteristic finding of omental infarction. The patient was improved spontaneously only with conservative care.

Magnolol과 Honokiol이 항균, 교원질 분해효소, 세포독성 및 Cytokine생산에 미치는 영향

The oral microbiota such as P. gingivalis, P. intermedia and A. actinomycetemcomitans play a primary role in the initiation and progression of the periodontal disease. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the antimicrobial effects and inhibitory effects of honokiol and magnolol on the bacterial collagenase activity, cytotoxicity and cytokine production of periodontopathic microorganisms. The antimicrobial activities of honokiol and magnolol was evaluted with minimum inhibition concentration. Honokiol was more active than magnolol, but less than chlorhexidine on antimicrobial activity. The inhibitory effects of magnolol and honokiol on the collagenolytic activity and cytotoxicity were evaluated using a Collagenokit CLN-100 and rapid colorimetric assay (MTT method) for cellular growth and survival of gingival fibroblast and periodontalligament cell and [^3H]-thymidine incorporation for the gingival epithelial cell. The inhibitory effects on the collagenolytic activity was the highest in chlorhexidine, and the lowest in magnolol. Magnolol had the lowest cytotoxic effect and chlorhexidine had the highest. The inhibitory effects on cytokine production was evaluated using interleukin-1β ELISA kit (Cistron Biotech.), IL-6, TNF-α ELISA kit (Genzyme) and inhibitory effects were higher than bacterial LPS and there is no difference among the honokiol, magnolol and chlorhexidine. From these results, the antimicrobial and antienzymatic activities of honokiol and magnolol were seemed to inhibit bacterial growth and enzyme activites with lesser cytotoxic activities. Therefore, it was suggested that honokiol and magnolol are very effective antimicrobial agents on periodontal pathogens.
