In clinical practice, restoration of primary incisors severely affected by caries continues to be a challenge. Not only are these teeth difficult to restore. but the behavior of the patient can affect treatment negatively. An acceptable restoration for maxillary anterior incisors should have matching material color, durability, adhesive cementation that is biocompatible with the pulp, easily and rapidly placed. This Paper describes two cases showing an alternative technique for the construction of completely destroyed upper incisors with polyethylene ribbons for retention and stability for the resin crowns.

Objective: The purpose of the study is to describe the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings and to investigate useful sequences of MRI in inflammatory myopathies. A third goal is to correlate MRI findings with the grade of histopathologic severity. Methods: Sixteen patients (13 women, 3 men), aged 21~74 years (median age of 49) with inflammatory myositis (examined with both MRI and muscle biopsy) were studied. Ten patients were diagnosed with polymyositis and 6 with dermatomyositis. Conventional T1-weighted (SE 366/12) and T2-weighted (SE 4766/90) fast spin-echo and fat-suppressed T1-weighted MR images with contrast enhancement (FSAT T1 CE) were obtained. Ratios between the signal intensities of a muscle and the signal intensities of subcutaneous fat in the same tomographic sections were calculated to objectively represent the degree of signal intensities. Semi-quantitative grading of severities in muscle biopsy specimen was examined based on invasion of inflammatory cells and necrosis, degeneration and regeneration of muscle fiber by a neuromuscular pathologist. Results: FSAT T1 CE could objectively describe the severity of involvement in inflammatory myopathies. The quadriceps muscle group, especially the vastus muscle tended to be most severely and frequently involved in inflammatory myositis with FSAT T1 CE (statistically insignificant). The vastus intermedius muscle was more severely involved in dermatomyositis than polymyositis. The signal intensity of abnormal muscle sampled by biopsy correlated positively with the grade of muscle biopsy. Conclusion: MRI shows promise in identifying pathologic muscle in patients suspected of having one of the inflammatory myopathies. The degree of signal intensity on MRI may reflect the severity of grade in muscle biopsy.

Pulmonary alveolar hemorrhage (PAH) is a rare and often fatal presenting feature of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and enters the differential diagnosis of diffuse lung disease in patients with SLE. Reported mortality rates are extremely high, between 70 and 90 percents. Because death frequently occurs within the first several days of the hemorrhage, the diagnosis needs to be established promptly and treatment should be initiated immediately. Treatment of alveolar hemorrhage has included various combinations of corticosteroids, cytotoxic agents, and plasmapheresis, but survival rates have been extremely low despite aggressive therapy. We experienced a case of diffuse alveolar hemorrhage in a 29 year-old SLE male patient. PAH was diagnosed by hemoptysis, anemia, infiltration on chest X-ray and hemosiderin-laden macrophages in bronchoalveolar lavage. After high dose intravenous steroid, cyclophosphamide intravenous therapy and plasmapheresis, the condition of patient was markedly improved. He was discharged and received monthly intravenous pulse cyclophosphamide. He has done well since, showing no further pulmonary hemorrhage with steroid tapering.
Evaluation of Temporal Trends of Lead Exposure in Korean Workers Using Workplace Monitoring Data

Background: Lead, which is widely used in various industrial settings, is a major health hazard for manufacturing workers. Therefore, control of lead exposure has been implemented in an effort to prevent lead-related health problems. In this study, our aim was to evaluate temporal trends in occupational lead exposure in Korean lead workers using data from monitoring of workplace exposure. Methods: A nationwide work environment monitoring database, data from a work environment monitoring institution, and data extracted from a review paper were utilized. Different versions of standard industrial classification codes were aligned with the 10th Korean Standard Industrial Classification, which is generally consistent with the 4th revision of the International Standard Industrial Classification. The multiple data sources were combined and temporal trends over the period from 1994–2021 were estimated. In addition, separate estimation of temporal trends in the storage battery manufacturing industry over the period from 1987–2021 was also performed. Results: A total of 444,296 personal airborne lead measurements were used for the estimation process. The temporal trends in occupational exposure to lead declined by −6% annually over the study period. In particular, levels of lead exposure in the storage battery manufacturing industry showed a steeper decline of −12% annually. Conclusions: Findings of our study showed that occupational exposure to lead declined over the period from 1994 to 2021 in Korea. However, adverse effects of exposure to lead on health should be regarded with caution. The results will be useful in conduct of epidemiological studies examining lead-related effects on health.

<P>Erbium carbide (ErC<SUB>2</SUB>) prepared by atomic layer deposition (ALD) is successfully demonstrated for the first time as a novel work function (WF) metal for nMOSFET applications. The prepared ErC<SUB>2</SUB> shows a very low effective WF (eWF), as low as 3.9 eV on HfO<SUB>2</SUB>, yet with excellent thermal stability. In addition, it did not show significant Fermi-level pinning on high-k dielectrics even after high-temperature annealing. The low eWF property of ErC<SUB>2</SUB> originates from the properties of the lanthanide family, while its good thermal stability is attributed to the properties of metal carbides. ALD-ErC<SUB>2</SUB> has superior conformality over other deposition methods, and thus is a strong candidate for 3-D structure devices.</P>

<P>Cutaneous wound repair is an intricate process whereby the skin reprograms itself after injury. In the mid-phase of wound repair, the proliferation, migration, and differentiation of cells are the major mechanisms to lead remodeling. We investigated the effect of BMM ((1E,2E)-1,2-bis((6-bromo-2H-chromen-3-yl)methylene)hydrazine), a novel synthetic material, on the migration and viability of keratinocytes or fibroblasts using the in vitro scratch woundhealing, electric cell-substrate imedance sensing (ECIS), invasion, and MTT assays. Cell migration-related factors were analyzed using western blot, and we found that treatment with BMM stimulated the EMT pathway and focal adhesion kinase (FAK)/Src signaling. Differentiation of HaCaT keratinocyte and fibroblast cells was also stimulated by BMM and specifically, NOX2/4 contributed to the activation of fibroblasts for wound healing. Furthermore, BMM treated HaCaT keratinocyte and fibroblast-co-cultured cells increased migration and differentiation. TGF-β and Cyr61 were also secreted to a greater extent than in single cultured cells. In vivo experiments showed that treatment with BMM promotes wound closure by promoting re-epithelialization. In this study, we demonstrated that a novel synthetic material, BMM, is capable of promoting wound healing via the stimulation of re-epithelialization in the epidermis and the activation of fibroblasts in the dermis, in particular, via the acceleration of the interaction between the epidermis and dermis.</P>
Silicone rubber 멤브레인을 이용한 압저항형 저차압센서의 개발

A 4-beam piezoresistive differential pressure sensor using a silicone rubber membrane has been fabricated on the selectively diffused (100)-oriented n/n^(+)/n silicon substrates by an unique silicon micromachining technique using porous silicon etching. The width, length, and thickness of the beam is 120 μn, 600 μm, and 6 μm, respectively, and the thickness of the silicone rubber membrane was 36 gm. By the use of four-beam structure, the mechanical strength of the differential pressure sensor can be highly improved due to smaller shear stress. And the lower sensitivity of the sensor can be simply solved by combining two output signals of half-bridge. The effectiveness of the sensor is confirmed through an experiment and FEM simulation in which the differential pressure sensor is characterized.
