        통합오염원단위 지수를 이용한 환경성과 측정

        본 연구의 목적은 한국의 24개 광업과 제조업종을 대상으로 1995~1999년간 통합된 오염원단위 지수와 변화지수를 제시하고 이를 통하여 환경성과를 측정하고자 함이다. 본 연구는 오염원단위의 새로운 정의와 통합된 오염원단위를 측정하는 새로운 기법을 제시한다. 광업과 제조업을 경공업, 중공업 그리고 중공업내 오염산업과 여타중공업으로 구분하고 실증적으로 통합원단위 지수와 변화지수를 계측한다. 통합오염원단위 지수 기준으로 중공업내 오염산업은 가장 오염집약적인 업종인 반면, 같은 중공업내 여타 중공업에 속한 업종은 가장 오염저감에 성공적이다. 통합오염원단위 변화지수를 기준으로 산업 전체의 평균치는 1,091로서 오염배출량변화지수가 1.133으로 연간 13.3% 증가한 반면 산출량변화지수는 1.039로 연간 3.9% 증가하여 약 9.1% 상승하였다. 경공업과 중공업의 통합원 단위 변화지수는 각각 1.125와 1.042였고, 오염산업의 평균이 1.287로 가장 높았음에도 중공업의 평균이 낮았던 것은 역시 여타 중공업의 평균이 0.9)3으로 연간 약 9% 가량 감소하였기 때문이다. This paper measures integrated pollution intensities and changes in pollution intensity, and figure out environmental performance. We introduce a new definition of pollution intensity and its method measuring integrated pollution intensities. We distinguish 24 manufacturing industries into light industry and heavy industry, and divide heavy industry into pollution industry and the other residual heavy industry to measure the integrated pollution intensities and their changes. While the pollution industry within heavy industry, based on the integrated pollution intensity, was the most pollution-intensive, the other residual heavy industry within the heavy industry was the most successive in reducing pollutants. The annualized average index of the integrated pollution intensities grew as much as 9.1 percent, of which the annualized change in the index of pollution emission increased 13.3 percent, but the improvement of 3.9 percent in the change of output quantity offset the increase in the index of pollution emission. The changes in the integrated pollution intensity for the light and heavy industries were 1.125 and 1.042, respectively. The reason the heavy industry showed the lower change in the index of pollution intensity, while the change in the pollution industry was very high, was because the average change in the other heavy industry decreased around 9 percent.

        For more effective intraperitoneal chemotherapy, the authers made 5-fluorouracil-polyglycolic acid composite disks(FU-PGA disks) with 5-fluorouracil and polyglycolic acid, a biodegradable polymer. We inserted the FU-PGA disk into the peritoneal cavites of Sprague-Dawley male rats, the control and three experimental groups; one FU-PGA disk insert group(300mg/kg), two FU-PGA disk insert group(600mg/kg), and three FU-PGA disk insert group(900mg/kg). The control group received a similar number of PGA disk inserts. A pharmacokinetic study was performed to measure the 5-fluorouracil concentration in the peritoneal fluid, blood, and tissues(liver, kidney and heart) at 24 hours, 72hours and 168 hours after insertion of the FU-PGA disk. Light and electron microscopic studies were done. The results were as follows: 1) The number of white blood cells and platelets decreased after FU-PGA insertion. The degree was proportional to the duration and amounts inserted. The change in the number of red blood cells varied slightly. 2) Light microscopically, slight changes were noted at 168 hours in the 3 disk insert group (900mg/kg). Mild fatty change and hepatocyte degeneration around the central veins of the liver were noted, with vacuolar degeneration in the proximal convoluted tubules of the kidney. 3) Electron microscopically,the liver showed focal increases of lipid droplets in the hepatocytes, and irregular nuclear membrane with focal nucleolar segregation of the fibrillar and granular elements. Also the double membranous structure of the hepatocytes and Kupffer cells was widened with bleb formation. The kidney showed wide separation of the nuclear double membrane in the proximal convoluted tubular cells and mesangial cells, with vacuolation and myelin figure formation in the mitochondria of the proximal convoluted tubular cells, at 72 hours and 168 hours in the 2 to 3 FU-PGA insert groups. The heart showed focal loss of cristae,vacuolation and myelin figure formation in the mitochondria of the 2 to 3 FU-PGA insert groups. In conclusion, despite the large amont of FU-PGA inserted, the histopathological changes in the liver, kidney and heart were slight, and consonant with the very low amount of 5-fluorouracil concentrations detected in the liver, kidney and heart. The above results suggest that the FU-PGA composite can serve as a new device for releasing drugs in a controlled manner and easily targeted to intraperitoneal organs. This device can improve the efficacy of intraperitoneal chemotherapy for gastric cancer.

        The present investigation examines the mass transfer phenomena occurring in a cassette filtration system whose main components are tangential flow separation membranes. When the system was applied to the continuous removal of the product together with cell recycle in a continuous fermentation, productivity of ethanol has markedly increased, giving rise to a maximum productivity 6 times higher than that of the batch mode.

        Fine needle aspiration(FNA) cytology is considered as the diagnostic technique of choice in the assessment of swellen lymph nodes. The aim of this study is to determine the indication and diagnostic method of FNA of lymph node lesions performed at Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital of Chungnam National University. The records of 16 patients which had undergone FNA during the study period were retrieved. The cytological results were classified as lymphadenitis, lymphoid hyperplasia and lymphoma. Lymphoma cases were classified as B-cell origin and T-cell by immunophenotyping. The result of the FNA cytological diagnosis showed that nine (56%) of the patients were lymphoma, five (31%) of the patients were lymphoid hyperplasia and two (13%) of the patients were lymphadenitis.

      • 마이크로웨이브 플라즈마 공정에 의한 휘발성유기화합물의 분해에 관한 연구

        A microwave plasma system using 2.45 GHz magnetron was applied to the decomposition of volatile organic compounds such as toluene and trichloroethylene. This microwave plasma system designed for producing plasma at atmospheric pressure consists of a magnetron detached from a household microwave oven, a directional coupler, a three-stub tuner, a tapered waveguide, and plasma flame section where a quartz tube with a nozzle is located. In this system, the organic compounds can be decomposed in the way of thermal incineration as well as by the reactions with various active species formed during plasma discharge. The effect of feed gas flow rate on the decomposition was significant due to the decrease in the gas temperature, but the initial concentration in the range of 210-2,100 ppm did not largely affect the decomposition efficiency. The principal byproduct was nitrogen oxides because this system was operated at high temperature. To improve the decomposition of the organic compounds, argon was used as a plasma-assisiting gas, together with the air-like feed gas mixture. Large enhancement in the decomposition efficiency was achieved by the use of argon.

        The indoor air cleaner used in this study consisted of a plasma reactor followed by an electrostatic precipitator. The role of the electrostatic precipitator is to collect particulate matters, and the plasma reactor plays an important role in decomposing organic compounds and precharging particulate matters in order that they may easily be collected in the following electrostatic precipitator. For the performance test of the air cleaner, toluene, trichloroethylene (TCE), n-butanol and methanol were added to the indoor air. According to the experimental data, the collection efficiency of particulate matters was found to be largely enhanced when the plasma reactor was operated. This enhancement of collection efficiency is believed to result from precharging particulate matters. A large amount of electrical energy was required for the decomposition of the organic compounds, which indicates that the indoor air should be repeatedly circulated for proper treatment.

      • 韓國産 石竹(패랭이꽃)科 植物에 關한 本草學的 硏究

        For the purpose of developing Korean Herbalogy with the plants of Caryophllaceae which grow wild and is planted in Korea, the these and writings on herbalogy, from literature of successive generation, have been thoroughly investigative and the results obtained were as follows: 1. There were totaled to 20 genera and 124 species in Korea and among them midical plants are 11 genera, 30 species, some 24% in total. 2. According to the oriental names which can be used for medical purpose, the medical plantss belonging to the Caryphllaceae family were classified as Herba 11, Radix 7, Foilum 2, Semen, Flos, Rhlzoma 1 each. 3. According to sum of 124 species in Caryophllaceae family, they were classified into Cerastium genera 18, Dianthus gemera 16, Pseudos tellaria genera, Lychnis genera, Stellaria genera 12 each, Melandry um genera 11, Silene genera 10, Minuaria genera 8, Gypsophila genera, Sagina genera 5 each, Arenaria genera, Cucubalus genera 3 each, Spergual genera, Vaccaria genera 2 each, Agorostema genera, Amnodenia genara, Moehringia genera, Myosoton genera, Honkenya genera 1 each. Thus it was noticed that Cerastium genera was main kind. 4. According to the number of species of the orgin plants about each chinese materia medicals, they were classified into HERBA DIANTHI 4, RADIX PSEUDOSTELLARIAE 3, SEMEN VACCARIAE 5, RADIX GYPSOPHILAE 4. 5. According to the properties and principal curative action, they were classfied into drugs for treating febrifugal and removing heat from blood, Diuretocs 6 each, Drugs for treating febrifugal and detoxicant 2, Drugs for invigorating blood, circuration and eliminating blood stasis 3, tonics 1, easing joint movement 1, stimulation of lactation 44. 6. According to nature and flavour of medical plants, they were classified into warmth, heat; each 3, cold, cool; 11 each, balance 3 and unidentifird 2. Thus it was noticed that cold and cool is the main in nature and flavour of medical plants. 7. Toxic drugs were none. From this results, It was revealed that the plants for medical purpose in Caryophllaceae was 24% of the whole, in which Herba was mostly abundunt. It is considered that may expriements and clinical approches must be continued to use Caryophllaceae plants widely.

        지속가능발전지표의 지수화 연구

        본 연구에서는 사회·환경·경제·제도 4개 부문의 지속가능한 발전지표들을 통합하여 지속가능발전지수 작성을 위한 방법론을 제시하고 한국의 지속가능발전 상태를 종합적으로 평가할 수 있는 지속가능발전지수를 1990~2001년간 실증적으로 계측해 보았다. 한국의 지속가능발전지수는 기준년도인 1995년을 중심으로 완만한 U자형 형태를 보이고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 지속가능발전지수가 1990년대 중반까지 하락한 주된 요인은 경제와 환경 부문의 하락에 기인하고 그 이후 상승은 사회와 제도 부문의 급격한 상승에 기인한 것으로 분석되었다. 지속가능발전지수가 주는 정책적 시사점은 첫째, 한국은 지속가능발전 측면에서 점차 긍정적인 추세를 보인다는 점과, 둘째, 지속가능발전지수의 상승과 하락이 4개 부분에 따라 사이하므로 하락하거나 보합적인 추세를 보이고 있는 부문에 대한 세심한 정책적 고려가 필요하다는 점이다. This paper develops the methodology for the indexation of Sustainable Development Indicators (SDIs) in 4 sectors (social, environmental, economic, and institutional sectors), and provides the empirical results of Sustainable Development Index (SDI) for Korea from 1990 to 2001. Given 1995 as the basic year. the trend of SDI for Korea displays a slowly curving U-shape. The down trend of SDI until mid-90's results from the decline of SDI in economic and environmental sectors, and the uptrend of SDI after mid-90's results from the sharp rising of SDI in social and institutional sectors. The implication of the results is that Korea generally shows a positive trend toward the sustainable development. However, there should be a careful consideration about partly downward trend in individual SDIs, because of the different trend of SDI in each sector.

        To evaluate the in-vivo effects of mitomycin-C-polyglycolic acid composite(MMC-PGA) the disk: shaped composite were implanted into the peritoneal cavity of the Sprague-Dawley rats. The pathologic changes were examined at various time points up to 12 weeks. Initially the soft tissue around the inserted disks showed capillary congestion at 3 days. Inflammatory infiltrates with foreign body giant cells appeared from the 2nd week and reached peak response at 6-8 weeks. These reaction diminished prominently at 12 weeks. No specific pathologic change was found in the liver, the kidneys, and the heart. The above results suggest that the MMC-PGA composite can serve as a new device for intraperitoneal chemotherapy of various types of cancers.
