Characteristics of dielectric thin film systems utilizing total internal reflection at the hypotenuse of a rectangular prism are investigated to produce quarterwave phase retardation. With BK-7 glass(n=1.52) as the substrate prism, design computation gives ZrO₂ as a proper dielectric film material for 1-dielectric layer system and Al₂O₃-ZrO₂-for 2-dielectric layer system. Specifically, in the 2-dielectric layer system, computer-aided optimization shows the optimal thicknesses of Al₂O₃(n=1.62) and ZrO₂(n=2.03: layers to be 1.811 and 0.691 quarterwave respectively, giving 90˚±1˚ phase retardation in the range of 0.61-0.65μm, whereas reckoning of ±0.5% error of film thickness gives 88.48˚-90.54˚ phase retardation in the same range and reckoning of refractive index change of -0.2 for each layer gives 88.04˚-90.12˚ phase retardation. By preparing and testing the above-designed 2-layer(Al₂O₃-ZrO₂) quarterwave retarder, phase retardation of 86.00。 in the outer rehion which, compared with design value, shows 4.6% and 4.7% error respectively.

The purpose of this study was identify change for socialite and interpersonal relationship of female prisoner through horticultural therapy on 14 prisoners in ○○female prison located in Chung-Book. Measurement methods were used Scale of sociality, Scale of change for interpersonal relationship, Form for evaluation of horticultural therapy. The results were as follows; 1.After HTP, Sociality was increased on female prisoners. and there was statistically significant difference(p〈0.01). 2.According to low-ranking field of I-R, communication, sensitivity, openness were increased, satisfaction, confidence, a feeling of intimacy were decreased, understanding was the same after HTP. But the average was increased, and there was statistically significant difference(p〈0.01). 3.Form for evaluation of horticultural therapy showed a increase of participation, interest and assistance, verbal communication, interpersonal relationship. Through above result, horticultural therapy has positive effect far socialite and I-R on female prisoners.

The diagnostic requirements were suggested and explained regarding the systems of differentiation of symptoms and signs in the second year study of standardization and unification of the terms and conditions used for diagnosis in oriental medicine. The systems were as follows; - differential diagnosis according to condition of body fluid, differentiation of syndromes according to the state of qi and blood, differential diagnosis according to relative excessiveness or deficiency of yin and yang(氣血陰陽津液辨證) - differentiation of diseases according to pathological changes of the viscera and their interrelation - analyzing and differentiating of febrile diseases in accordance with the theory of the six channels(傷寒辨證) The individual diagnosis pattern was arranged by the diagnostic requirements in the following order : another name(異名), notion of diagnosis pattern, index of differentiation of symptoms and signs(辨證指標), the main point of diagnosis, analysis of diagnosis pattern(證候分析), discrimination of diagnosis pattern(證候鑑別), a way of curing a diseases(治法), prescription(處方), herb in common use(常用藥物), diseases appearing the diagnosis pattern(常見疾病), documents(文獻調査). This study was carried out on the basis of the Chinese documents and references.

The effect of ion implantation of the Pt bottom electrodes (Pt/TiO2/Si) on the characteristics of PZT (Pb1.1(Zr0.53Ti0.47)O3) thin films has been investigated for doses of 5 × 1014, 5 × 1015 and 5 × 1016 cm.2 of O ions, as well as of N ions. The crystallinity of the Pt electrodes induced by ion implantation is improved for both O-ion and N-ion implantation with the proper doses of about 1015 cm.2. Test PZT capacitors prepared on implanted Pt bottom electrodes show a higher remanent polarization of 25 μC/cm2 and a lower coercive field of 34 kV/cm and their leakage current values decrease by about an order of magnitude compared to those of a PZT thin film prepared on as-deposited Pt electrodes. Such improvements of PZT thin films are believed to be due to the enhanced microstructures of the Pt bottom electrodes caused by ion implantation.
Theoretical Study of the Effect of a Solvent on the Adsorption of Pt Atom on a Graphene Surface

A theoretical study of the adsorption of Pt atom on a graphene surface in different solvent environments was conducted. The study used density functional theory calculations along with a conductor-like screening model (COSMO) method, in which the solute molecule is covered by a dielectric continuum with a permittivity that represents the solvent. Solvent environments of water, methanol and ethanol were considered. The results showed that that the charge transfer from the Pt atom to the graphene surface was stronger and that system was more stable in the solvent environments than in vacuum. The observed solvent effects on both the electronic structure and the stability suggest dierent catalytic activities of the system in different solvent environments.
Photoluminescence of Nano-Scale Fullerene (C60) Aggregates in a Solvent Mixture

We present the photoluminescence emission of C60 aggregates in benzene-ethanol mixtures of different compositions. For ethanol volume fractions in the solvent mixture less than 50 %, the photoluminescence spectra show the spectral shape of aggregates at 120 K. A change in the spectral shape of the photoluminescence emission due to the formation of C60 aggregates at the liquid-solid transition temperature of the solvent mixture, as in the case of a single solvent (benzene, toluene, or CS2), is reported. The shift in the 0-0 transition energy to a high energy in comparison with the C60 crystal is noticed. The 0-0 transition energy for a high ethanol volume fraction of the solvent mixture (>70 %) shows no shift and is located at almost the same region as that of C60 crystal photoluminescence spectrum. Sizes of the C60 aggregates in the mixture of benzene-ethanol with a high ethanol volume fraction much bigger than those of C60 aggregates in single crystals (>2.3 nm in benzene) is reported. Temperature dependence of the photoluminescence of C$_{60}$ in CS$_{2}$, as a typical example of the formation of C$_{60}$ aggregates by the liquid-solid transition of solution, and the photoluminescence of C$_{60}$ in room-temperature benzene-ethanol mixtures of different compositions are presented. By comparing the photoluminescence spectra of C$_{60}$ in benzene-ethanol mixtures with those of C$_{60}$ in solution (toluene, benzene and CS$_{2}$) and C$_{60}$ single-crystal, it has been found that the drastic spectral change in photoluminescence spectra of C$_{60}$ in benzene-ethanol mixtures of different compositions are strongly ascribed to the formation of C$_{60}$ aggregates. Moreover, it has been found that the energy of maximum intensity and the spectral shape in the room-temperature photoluminescence of C$_{60}$ aggregates in benzene-ethanol mixtures are not sensitive to the ethanol volume fraction.

<P><B>Objective</B></P><P>In this study, we compared the pharmacokinetic profiles of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), tegafur, 5-chloro-2,4-dihydroxypyridine (CDHP) and potassium oxonate (Oxo) after administration of S-1 at 35 or 40 mg/m<SUP>2</SUP> bid for 28 consecutive days, in Cycles 1 and 3, in patients with advanced gastric cancer.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>Three patients were enrolled for each dosage. S-1 dosage was assigned based on body surface area (BSA), which is different from the Japanese dosing system. The median daily dose per BSA was 76 mg/m<SUP>2</SUP>, ranging from 70 to 88 mg/m<SUP>2</SUP>.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>Plasma levels of 5-FU, tegafur, CDHP and Oxo at 4 h post-dose reached steady-state on day 8. The estimated steady-state level was dependent on S-1 dosage. There were no intercyclic differences of pre-dose and 4 h post-dose levels between Cycles 1 and 3, implying no cumulative effect of S-1 was shown probably due to 2-week drug-resting period. Pharmacokinetic profiles on day 28 were similar to previous Japanese report. <I>C</I><SUB>max</SUB> and AUC<SUB>0–48 h</SUB> values of each S-1 component increased depending on S-1 dosage. Pharmacokinetic parameters were not correlated with tumor response or toxicity.</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>We suggest that these pharmacokinetic profiles of Asian population could provide a basis for schedule optimization and for additional studies on interaction with other antitumor drugs.</P>
