Low temperature electrostatic bonding experiments were carried out, which can be applicable to sensor packaging. After thermally depositing Al film on Si substrate, Al-deposited Si and alkali borosilicate glass were electrostatically bonded. The thickness of deposited A1 film were 100, 500, 2000, 5000 Å and bondings without cracks were achieved at 150 ℃ with the Al films of over 1000 Å thickness.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between satisfaction toward appearance and the level of mental health among female middle school students. Methods: The total study sample was 432 consisting of 3rd year female students who attended co-educational or girls’ middle schools in Korea. Data were collected from August 8 to August 16, 2012. Statistical analyses were conducted using t-test and Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient with SPSS18.0Windows software. Results: There was correlation between appearance satisfaction and mental health, especially with personal sensitivity (r= -.447, p= .000) and depression (r= -.350, p= .000). The level of mental health significantly differed according to type of school (t= -2.668, p= .008). However, appearance satisfaction did not differ according to type of school. Conclusion: The results of this study implied the importance of appropriate education and nursing intervention which would improve satisfaction toward the appearance of female middle school students.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze a tendency of Korean research on complementary and alternative therapy. Method: The data were collected 55 researches on complementary and alternative therapy which were published in Korea from 1996 to 2004. Data were analyzed according to published year, type of research and published journal, type of study design, subject, and effective variable of therapy. Result: 1) The number of published research were 5 from 1996 to 1999, and 50 from 2000 to 2004. 2) The number of dissertation were 41 and published articles in journals were 14. 3) According to type of study design, experimental design was 51, survey was 3, and combined study of experimental and survey was 1. 4) The most subjects were surgery patients who were applied foot massage. 5) Foot massage was shown to be more effective for fatigue than others. Conclusion: It is important to construct scientific knowledge by analyzing effect of various complementary and alternative therapies to more nursing clients. Furthermore it is necessary to develop and apply appropriate nursing implementation used complementary and alternative therapy for client's nursing problem.

Stress developed in the glass plate during vacuum packaging of an FFD (Field Emission Display) was calculated. Bending stress was derived from the bending moment of the glass plate experiencing bending in the condition of built in edge. Fracture behaviour of the glass plate was observed and the displacement at the center was also measured. Vercuum packaging experiments were carried cut on 3.7$quot; and 5.7$quot; panels. 'floe fracture behavior of the evacuated panel was explained using the bending stress which was derived on the assumption that all edges of the gins were built in.

Objective: To investigate the antibacterial activity of SHH extracted with either water or ethanol against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and combinatory antimicrobial effect with ciprofloxacin (CIP) by time kill assay and checkerboard dilution test. Methods: The antibacterial activity determined by broth dilution method indicated that the antibacterial activity of Sami-Hyanglyun-Hwan (SHH) water extract (SHHW) and SHH ethanol extract (SHHE) ranged from 250 to 2000 μg/mL and 125 to 1000 μg/mL against MRSA, respectively. Results: In the checkerboard method, the combinations of SHHE with CIP had a partial synergistic or synergistic effect against MRSA. The time-kill curves showed that a combined SHHE and CIP treatment reduced the bacterial counts dramatically after 24 h. Conclusions: The present study demonstrates the therapeutic ability of SHHE against MRSA infections.
Gasification and tar removal characteristics of rice husk in a bubbling fluidized bed reactor

Technology for converting biomass such as rice husk into a useable energy sources are key to address energy consumption issues. The effects of temperature (600-900<SUP>o</SUP>C), equivalence ratio (ER, 0.15-0.3), and addition of catalyst on the gasification characteristics of rice husk were investigated in a bubbling fluidized bed reactor with an inside diameter of 0.067m and a height of 1.55m. As the reaction temperature and ER were increased, the concentrations of CO and CO<SUB>2</SUB> in the product gas decreased. Slight increases in CH<SUB>4</SUB> and H<SUB>2</SUB> concentrations were also observed with increasing temperature. Throughout the temperature range of interest, an increase in ER resulted in decrement of both the higher heating value of the product gas and the cold gas efficiency. Furthermore, the effect of operating condition and addition of bed material were determined in a bubbling fluidized bed reactor. An increase in reaction temperature and ER decreased the tar content. The addition of calcined dolomite and olivine in the bed material reduced the amount of tar during rice husk gasification in a bubbling fluidized bed reactor. These results have the potential to be applied to the conversion of biomass into a useable energy source.

<P>Metatitanic acid (H2TiO3) is an emerging lithium ion sieve (LIS) that can potentially replace the well-known manganese-based LIS. Systematic adsorption studies on the effects of solution pH, solid/liquid ratio, temperature, and feed concentration were conducted. H+ accumulation critically limited the Li+ capacity (q(e)), but was circumvented under optimal conditions. Li+ adsorption was Langmuir-type and followed pseudo-second-order rate model; thermodynamic parameters reveal its feasibility, spontaneity, and endothermicity. H2TiO3 was highly stable and reusable; its highest q(e) (94.5 mg g(-1)) is superior over other known LIS. Li+ was effectively recovered from seawater, demonstrating its high industrial potential for aqueous Li+ mining. (C) 2016 The Korean Society of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry. This study was perfomed to investigate on the status of water quality of 240 drinking ground waters in Chonnam Area for one year, 1994. The results were as follows; 1. 17.9% of samples were beyond the standards and the rate of samples beyond the standards was most high in Naju City as 57.1% among testing areas and most high in the river side as 31.3% among various regions. 2. The total mean value in each main test items were 4.6㎎/ℓ in NO_(3)-N, 93.3㎎/ℓ Hardness, 47.8㎎/ℓ Cl^(-), 10.2㎎/ℓ SO_(4)^(2-). 3. The distribution of test items beyond the standards showed 77 numbers in examining 11 test items and 53.2% of these showed 80% higer values than the standards. 4. Concerning the high possibility that most ground waters might be contaminated by the surrounding environmental factors, the improved management of polluting sources is required.
