The 'field-effect' underlies the operation of most conventional electronic devices. However, effective control and implementation of the field-effect in semiconductor devices are limited due to screening of the electric-field by conducting electrodes. Thus far, the electronic devices have necessarily been designed to avoid or minimize the electric-field screening effect. As an alternative approach to this, a new type of conducting electrodes which would be transparent to both visible light and electric-field while being electrically conductive have been developed. Here, we define these electrodes as 'electric-field transparent electrodes' and provide a review on related work. Particular attention is paid to the material selection and design strategies to enhance the electric-field transparency of the electrodes while maintaining good electrical conductivity and optical transparency. We then introduce potential applications of the electric-field transparent electrodes in electronic and optoelectronic devices.
변위 시계열 데이터를 이용한 교량거더의 Flutter 계수 추정기법에 관한 연구

교량의 내풍 안전성을 평가하기 위해서는 플러터 계수(Flutter Derivatives)의 안정적 추정이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 풍동실험에서 얻어지는 시간영역에서의 데이터중 변위 시계열데이터를 이용해서 플러터 계수를 구하는 동특성 계수 측정기법 2가지를 검토하였다. 검토된 MITD(Modified Ibrahim Time Domain) 방법과 AKF(Adaptive Kalman Filtering) 방법은 2차원단면모형 실험으로부터 동시에 8개의 플러터 계수를 산출할 수 있는 유용한 방법이다. 제안된 방법의 실제상황에서의 적용성을 검토하기 위해서 Bandlimited Gausian white noise을 가상의 데이터에 첨가하여 수학적 시뮬레이션으로 잡음에 대한 안정성을 검증해 보았다. 그 결과 교량의 플러터 해석에서는 본 연구에서 검증된 MITD 방법을 통한 플러터 계수의 산출이 추전된다. 본 논문에서는 한국인 만성 치주염 환자의 치은연하치태에서 분리된 Veillonella atypica KHUD-V1의 유전체 서열을 보고한다. 다른 V. atypica 균주와 달리, KHUD-V1에서는 프로 파지 및 이와 관련된 것으로 추정되는 여러 병독성 인자가 확인되었다. V. atypica KHUD-V1 균주 및 이 균주의 유전체 서열정보는 Veillonella의 유전체 다양성을 진화론적 관점에서 이해하고, V. atypica의 병독성 및 유전적 다양성에 기여하는 프로파지의 역할을 연구하는데 유용할 것이다. Here we report the genome sequence of Veillonella atypica strain KHUD-V1 isolated from subgingival dental plaque of Korean chronic periodontitis patients. Unlike other V. atypica strains, KHUD-V1 carries two prophage regions and prophage remnants, as well as several genes homologous to prophage-associated virulence factors, such as virulence-associated protein E, a Clp protease, and a toxin-antitoxin system. The isolate and its genome sequence obtained here will aid to understand the diversity of the genome architecture of Veillonella within an evolutionary framework and the role of prophages that contribute to the genetic diversity as well as the virulence of V. atypica.

Hypoglossal nerve palsy is an uncommon neurologic disorder. We report a 67-year-old Korean male with tongue paralysis due to hypoglossal nerve palsy. He had complaints associated only with tongue paralysis and was treated with herbal medicine and electric acupuncture for 12 days. We evaluated his tongue paralysis severity by a numeric rating scale (NRS) and the angle of tongue deviation. After 12 days of treatment, the NRS score showed improvement of his complaints, and the angle of tongue deviation was decreased. Korean medicine could therefore be an effective treatment choice for hypoglossal nerve palsy.

Purpose: To investigate the effect of high glucose (HG) on the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells. Methods: ARPE-19 cells were exposed to low glucose (5 mM) and high glucose (HG, 25 mM) for three days. Additionally, 50 μM N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) and 100 μM L-arginine were co-exposed. Productions of nitric oxide (NO), ROS, and superoxide were determined by Griess assay, DCFH-DA assay, and modified cytochrome c assay, respectively. Results: HG increased production of NO, ROS, and superoxide. HG-induced cells increased production of superoxide and ROS but were suppressed by NAC and L-arginine (substrate for NO production) as an antioxidant. Conclusions: HG increased ROS production in RPE cells. Thus, HG may cause cellular dysfunction and damage by inducing oxidative stress in RPE cells. J Korean Ophthalmol Soc 2010;51(2):276-281

Dan-chung had many great traditional patterns of Korea. By investigating its patterns, which comprise the integral part of the formative features, and analyzing the aesthetic characteristics and formative beauty, the foundation was set to use the patterns as the motives of art makeup works. A focus was made on the basic elements, compositions and symbolic meanings of Dan-chung patterns. The representative patterns that were used a lot in Dan-chung made the motives of the four art make-up designs, which tried to integrate the aesthetic senses of the Dan-chung patterns into the art makeup venues. The four patterns were each based on the phoenix, bat, ghost face, and crane. The major colors used were white, black, red, blue and yellow, which were also the cardinal Five Colors of Dan-chung. They were changed in terms of luminosity and coma and manipulated to make harmony with intermediate colors so that the designs would ooze out the Korean aesthetic senses.
전기적 퓨즈 프로그래밍을 이용한 1T-SRAM 리페어용 리던던시 제어 회로 설계

본 논문에서는 전기적인 퓨즈 프로그래밍을 이용한 1T-SRAM 리페어용 리던던시 제어 회로를 설계하였다. 공급전원이 낮아지더라도 외부 프로그램 전원을 사용하여 높은 프로그램 파워를 eFuse (electrical fuse)에 공급하면서 셀의 읽기 전류를 줄일 수 있는 듀얼 포트 eFuse 셀을 제안하였다. 그리고 제안된 듀얼 포트 eFuse 셀은 파워-온 읽기 기능으로 eFuse의 프로그램 정보가 D-래치에 자동적으로 저장되도록 설계하였다. 또한 메모리 리페어 주소와 메모리 액세스 주소를 비교하는 주소 비교 회로는 dynamic pseudo NMOS 로직으로 구현하여 기존의 CMOS 로직을 이용한 경우 보다 레이아웃 면적을 19% 정도 줄였다. 전기적인 퓨즈 프로그래밍을 이용한 1T-SRAM 리페어용 리던던시 제어 회로는 동부하이텍 $0.11{\mu}m$ Mixed Signal 공정을 이용하여 설계되었으며, 레이아웃 면적은 $249.02{\times}225.04{\mu}m^{2}$이다. In this paper, we design a redundancy control circuit for 1T-SRAM repair using electrical fuse programming. We propose a dual port eFuse cell to provide high program power to the eFuse and to reduce the read current of the cell by using an external program supply voltage when the supply power is low. The proposed dual port eFuse cell is designed to store its programmed datum into a D-latch automatically in the power-on read mode. The layout area of an address comparison circuit which compares a memory repair address with a memory access address is reduced approximately 19% by using dynamic pseudo NMOS logic instead of CMOS logic. Also, the layout size of the designed redundancy control circuit for 1T-SRAM repair using electrical fuse programming with Dongbu HiTek's $0.11{\mu}m$ mixed signal process is $249.02 {\times}225.04{\mu}m^{2}$.
Alginate Lyase 생산 균주 Pseudomonas sp. N7151-6의 분리 및 특성

해운대 연안에서 그람 음성균이면서 알긴산 분해효소를 생산하는 세균을 분리하였다. 분리된 N7151-6 균주의 성장을 위한 최적 온도는 $30^{\circ}C$, 최적 pH는 8.0으로 조사되었다. 또한 0-7%(w/v) NaCl 농도에서도 성장 가능하다. 16S rDNA 염기 서열 분석과 생화학적 분석에 의해 이 균주는 Pseudomonas 속으로 동정되어 Pseudomonas sp. N7151-6으로 명명하였다. Pseudomonas sp. N7151-6에서 생산하는 알긴산 분해효소를 한외여과(ultrafilteration; MWCO=30 kDa) 방법에 의해 부분정제하였다. 분리된 효소의 최적 pH는 7.0으로 최적 온도는 $30^{\circ}C$로 조사 되었다. pH 5.0에서 9.0까지 이 효소는 안정하였으며, $23^{\circ}C$에서 $37^{\circ}C$까지의 범위에서도 안정성을 보여주었다. 알긴산 분해효소의 전체 활성은 110 unit/L이었다. A Gram-negative, alginate lyase-producing bacterium was isolated from the Haeundae Coast, Korea. The isolated strain N7151-6 produced alginate lyase. The optimal temperature and pH for growth were found to be $30^{\circ}C$ and pH 8.0, respectively. This strain can be grown at the NaCl concentration of 0-7% (w/v). Analysis of 16S rDNA sequence and physiological profiling indicated that the strain N7151-6 belonged to Pseudomonas sp. The enzyme alginate lyase produced by Pseudomonas sp. N7151-6 was partially purified by ultrafiltration (MWCO= 30 kDa). The optimum pH and temperature for the activity of the purified enzyme were found to be 7.0 and $30^{\circ}C$, respectively. The enzyme was stable at the pH range of 5.0-9.0 and temperature range of $23-30^{\circ}C$. The total activity of alginate lyase produced was reached about 110 unit/L.
