The purpose of this study was to develop menus for daily intake of 25g soybean protein and to analyse nutrients of these foods. Analytical values were compared to the theoretical one using the food composition table and recommended dietary allowances for Koreans (7th revision). The results are as follows. 1. Soybean curd residue stew, Soybean curd, Kimchi saute, and hard boiled soybean and lotus root were selected for the menu for January, of which the content of soy bean protein(SBP) was 33.1g, soybean stew, soybean curd and soybean sprout saute, and Italian deep fried soybean curd were for February, of which the content of SBP was 35.0g. The content of SBP in soybean paste soup with soybean curd, fried soybean curd and fried soybean curd roll, the menu for March, was 24.9g. That of April were soybean curd gratin with soymilk, soybean curd and ham with garlic dressing and the content of SBP was 26.3g. That of May were soybean porridge, soybean flour cake with honey (Dasik), soybean sprout soup and the content of SBP was 26.7g. That of June were soymilk, pan-fried soybean curd, steamed soybean curd with chicken and the content of SBP was 28.4g. That of July were noodle with soymilk, mapatofu, soybean curd salad and the content of SBP was 24.7g. That of August were soybean sprout with mustard dressing, Tossed green pepper with raw soybean flour, Tofu and Kimchi stew, soybean curd steak and the content of SBP was 26.2g. That of September were Chinese cabbage soup with raw soybean flour, sweet and sour tofu and the content of SBP was 23.2g. That of Oct. were Fermented soybean stew, soybean pan cake and the content of SBP was 24.3g. That of November were not-pressed soybean curd casserole, pan-fried mashed soybean curd with egg, stir frying deep-fried soybean curd with vegetables and the content of SBP was 22.4g. That of December were soybean curd and mushroom casserole, fried soybean curd and vegetables, hard boiled soybean curd and the content of SBP was 28.9g. 2. The ratio of the analytical value over theoretical value (A/B%) of one serving in kcal, carbohydrate, protein, fat, ash and dietary fiber were 57.7~107.7%, 42.9~131.9%, 79.2~118.3%, 54.5~100%, 40.7~80.8% and 42.1~113.2%, respectively. 3. The ratio of A/B% of one serving in Ca, K, Na, P and Fe were 44.1~93.6%, 59.0~153.1%, 53.1~117.7% 64.6%~138.8 and 33.8~77.3%, respectively. That in Fe was the lowest among minerals. 4. The ratio of analytical value over Korean R.D.A(A/C%) in Ca was relatively higher (22.0~85.9%) than that in kcal(18~63%). 5. The ratio of A/C% in Fe was 25.1~64.3% and lower than that in Ca and protein in general.

Urapidil, Labetalol의 투여가 기관내 삽관시 심혈관계에 미치는 영향

We have examined the comparative efficacy of small doses of intravenous urapidil and labetalol in blunting hemodynamic response to endotracheal intubation and surgical incision in 30 patients without cardiovascular diseases. After intravenous urapidil 0.2 mg/kg or labetalol 0.2 mg/kg anesthesia was induced with thiopental 5mg/kg. Endotracheal intubation was facilitated by vecuronium 0.15 mg/kg with priming principle and anesthesia was maintained with enflurane and nitrous oxide in oxygen. Systolic, diastolic and mean arterial pressure and heart rate were measured before administration of the drugs, 5 minute after administration, just prior to endotracheal intubation and 1, 3, 5, 10 minute after intubatin. Also the peak blood pressures and heart rate within 10 minutes after surgical incision were measured. Endotracheal intubation and surgical stimulation were associated with significant increases in blood pressures and heart rate in both urapidil and labetalol group. Comparison of the changes in systolic, diastolic, and mean artrial pressures and heart rate between urapidil and labetalol group showed no significant difference except peak systolic pressure after surgical incision. It is concluded that the pressor response to endotracheal intubation and surgical stimulation are not influenced significantly by urapidil 0.2 mg/kg or labetalol 0.2 mg/kg. However, urapidil and labetalol preloading may be similarly effective in the blunting of the increases in blood pressures with larger doses of the durgs during anesthetic induction.

성인에서 발병한 지역사회폐렴의 원인으로서 호흡기 바이러스의 역할

Purposes : To investigate the viral etiology of community-acquired pneumonia in Korean adults, we have detected respiratory viruses (Respiatory syncytial virus, adenovirus, influenza virus and parainfluenza virus) in the way of prospective, multi-center study. Methods : From July 1997 to April 2000, nasal aspirates or sputum were obtained from adults patients with community pneumonia admitted to the participating hospitals and transferred immediately to the central laboratory at the Seoul National University Children's Hospital. The specimens were divided into three parts. One part was used for indirect immunofluorescent test for respiratory viruses, the other part for the culture of RSV and adenovirus in HEp-2 cell monolayer. The other part was used for the culture of influenza virus and parainfluenza virus in MDCK or LLC-MK2 cell monolayers. Results : Of 317 samples, 32 (10.1%) specimens were positive for viral agent by indirect IF staining or culture, including one dual-infected specimen (adenovirus and parainfluenza virus). Influenza virus was most commonly detected (16 specimens). Parainfluenza virus, adenovirus and RSV were detected in 10, 4 and 3 patients, respectively. All isolated influenza viruses were type A (H3N2 in 9 patients, HIN1 in 2 and unspecified in 5), and 8 out of 10 parainfluenza virus isolates were type 3. Conclusion : Similar to previous reports from other countries, a significant portion of community-acquired pneumonia in Korean adult is caused by respiratory viruses. 맥도날드의 진출을 통해 본 세계화와 지구지역화

For some years, there have been widespread and on-going discussions over the issue of globalization from various perspectives. Some take a positive view of the issue, saying that globalization, in the end, benefits all of us; others take a defensive stance against globalization, defining it as imperialist invasion. The same goes for the cultural globalization issue. Some argue that unless we make efforts to preserve our local culture, our cultures will be homogenized into one dominant global culture, and our cultural objects will become mere commodities in the global market with the trend of cultural imperialism. Others welcome globalization as benefiting cultural diversity, greatly esteeming the willingness of local cultures to embrace the larger global culture and assimilate into it. With our world globalizing, we are witnessing the phenomena of cultural homogenization as well as cultural heterogenization and cultural pluralism, all at the same time. In this context, the concept of glocality becomes very significant because glocalization, a combination of the terms "global" and "local," can serve as an alternative to globalization. Instead of local cultures becoming objects assimilated into global culture, glocalization may enable local cultures to better understand different cultures of the world. McDonald’s, a leading global brand, has become a symbol of globalization in cultural and economic contexts. McDonald’s, at the same time, represents glocalization with its regionalization efforts accommodating local cultures as it expands into many international markets. Since 1997, McDonald’s in Korea has been adapting to local Korean culture, offering a regionalized version of its menu, such as the Bulgogi Burger and the Shrimp Burger, to satisfy the palate of the Korean people. This wouldn’t have been possible without a deep understanding of Korean culture as well as of the sentiments of Koreans. As a multinational corporation, McDonald’s clearly saw the importance of keeping up with the current trends of local culture, communicating effectively inter-culturally, and implementing cultural regionalization strategically. Yet, on a closer look, we see the phenomenon of McDonald’s glocalization efforts as only superficial. In other words, McDonald’s regionalization efforts were made only for the purpose of making maximum profits in the market, without genuine interest in going local. Therefore, in research on glocality, we need to explore how two important issues of the preservation of local culture and the integration into global culture can go hand in hand and how a new paradigm of glocalized culture can be created.

토끼근육 L-α-Glycerophosphate Dehydrogenase의 활성도에 미치는 N^1-Dodecylnicotinamide Chloride의 농도의 영향

The inactivation of rabbit muscle L-α-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase by N^1-dodecylnicotinamide chloride was shown to proceed in two different mechanisms depending upon the inhibitor concentration, At low inhibitor concentration, the reversible inhibition was followed by the time dependent irreversible inactivation caused by some irreversible binding between enzyme and inhibitor. At the inhibitor concentration as high as one-tenth of its CMC, the enzyme inactivation was enhanced anomalously. This abrupt inactivation process was discussed on the basis of the enzyme con-formation changes caused by the interaction similar to that important in the micellization of long chain nonpolar compounds.

NAD^+유도체의 합성과 성질에 관한 연구

N^1-position of adenine ring of NAD^+ was carboxymethylated using iodoacetic acid and after Dimroth rearrangement gave N^6-carboxymethyl-NAD^+. N^6-[(6=aminohexyl) carbamoylmethy1]NAD^+ was synthesized by condensation of N^6-carboxymethyl NAD^+ with 1,6-diaminohexane dihydrochloride in the presence of EDAC. All these analogs were active as coenzymes for YADH and LDH catalyzed reactions. Kinetic studies showed that the modification of exocyclic amino group of NAD^+ led the coenzyme binds to enzyme more favorably than unmodified coenzyme.

Glucocorticoid가 비장세포 임파구의 증식,Interleukin-2(IL-2) 생산 및 말초 혈액 임파구의 IL-2수용체 발현에 미치는 영향

Glucocorticoids are widely used as therapeutic agents in as variety of allergic and inflammatory diseases and in transplantation rejection. Although glucocorticoids are thought to influence on the immunologic reation, they are not fully known to influence on the immune cell function. In this report, we have studies effects of glucocorticoid. dexamethasone, on porliferation and production of interleukin-2(IL-2) in mouse splenic lymphocytes and on expression of IL-2 production, we isolated C57BL6 mice splenic cells and stimulated with Con-A(5㎍/ml). As the concentration of dexamethasone was increased, the proliferation and the IL-2 production of mouse splenic lymphocytes stimulated by Con-A (5㎍/ml) were decreased. And the expression of IL-2 receptors in human peripheral blood lymphocytes was also decreased in addition of dexamethasone. These findings suggest that proliferation, IL-2 production, and IL-2 receptor expression of immune cells are inhibited by glucocorticoid, dexamethasone.

Prolyl peptide의 cis-trans 평형에 미치는 용매 및 무기염의 영향에 관한 연구

Due to the cyclic structure of the proline side chain, the proly peptides are in equilibrium between cis and trans isomer in solution. In general, proline contained random polypeptide chains exists in aqueous solution as of 10% the cis isomer, The cis-trans equilibrium constants and amounts of the cis(or trans)isomer are not greatly differ in nine different organic solvents tested. The presence of 0.3M LiCl in the solvent increases the amount of cis peptide in equilibrium and the extent of this increment depends of the solvent the largest increases are in TFE and acetone. The effect of LiCl on the cis isomer concentration in equilibrium increased linearly with the increasing LiCl concentration in the range of 0-0.5M. The dffect of LiCl /TFE system varied with the structure of Xaa of Succ-Ala-Xaa-Pro-Phe p-Nitroanilide tested. The order of the amounts of cis isomer concentration is Xaa> Ala> Glu> Lys> Ile> Leu> His> Gly. The LiCl/TFE system sws found to be able to apply usefully in the PPlase assay system.

유아기 아버지의 양육참여 영역과 아버지의 심리적 특성, 배경적 특성, 가정적 특성, 아동 특성

In order to examine the influence of fathers' psychological characteristics, demographic characteristics, home characteristics, and children's characteristics in specific areas of fathering of their preschool-age children, 301 fathers were studied. A major goal was to examine whether determinants more influential in predicting specific areas of fathering with young children. Data was collected by self reporting on questionnaires. Results indicated that men's psychological characteristics and home characteristics were most influential in the various areas of participation. Fathers' role perception, father's own fathers' fathering that men perceived during their own childhood, marital agreement, feminity, masculinity, self-esteem, job involvement, wives' belief on their husbands' participation in childrearing, and discussion between men and wives on their husbands' participation in childrearing were the chief variables associated with different areas of men's involvement with preschool-age children. Fathers' demographic characteristics except father's income was not found to be significant in accounting for variance.
