Background : In recent years gonorrhoea has been panendemic and remains one of the most common Sexually Transmitted Diseases in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Method : For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria Gonorrhoeae(PPNG), Ive have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results : In 1994, 168 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 109 (64,9% ) were PPNG. Conclustion : Our results suggests that the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is still increasing.

Neonatal lupus is a rare syndrome occurring In neonates with tranplacentally acquired maternal autoantibodies, In particular anti-SSA/Ro-SSB/Ra antibodies. Manifestations include congenital heart block, cutaneous lesions, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, pulmonary or neurological disease and hepatitis. The non-cardiac manifestations resolve by 6 months of age, congenital heart block is irreversible. We experienced a case of neonatal lupus with congenital complete heart block in a newborn of asyptomatic mother with anti-SSA/Ro-SSB/Ra antibodies.

This paper is a study on the efficient electronic payment method using wireless POS (point-of-sale) Terminal. We propose the efficient management of electronic receipt including electronic signature and information of the client's credit card. Also, the method which is proposed by using technology of dynamic signature verification, will provide higher security for the user authentication, prevent using by stealth of credit card and reduce an expense and the dispute which occur from transactions.

Atherosclerosis is now viewed as an inflammatory disease of the vascular system. Expression of several chemokines, including monocyte chemoattractant protein(MCP)-1, MCP-4, RANTES(regulated on activation normal T-cell expressed and secreted), and interleukin-8(IL-8) are increased in human atherosclerotic plaques compared with normal vessels. They are involved in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and plaque rupture by activating and directing leukocytes into the atherosclerotic lesions. However, some are involved in homeostatic functions such as normal leukocyte traffic and growth regulation. SDF-la is a multi-functional cytokine that is involved in myelogenesis, hematopoiesis, angiogenesis and injured gastric mucosal regeneration in the gastric ulcer patient. SDF-la is recently shown to be highly expressed in atherosclerotic plaques and a potent platelet agonist. At least in high concentrations, SDF-la may mediate antiinflammatory and matrix stabilizing effects in unstable angina. Many studies are going on to know the function of SDF-la in coronary artery diseases. I investigated the difference of the plasma level of SDF-la between control group and coronary artery disease group. Total 75 subjects were enrolled. The diagnosis of coronary artery disease was confirmed in all patients by coronary angiography. Control subjects in this study were confirmed normal by coronary angiography. Clinical profile and risk factors were also reviewed. Control subjects in this study were 27 (M=10, F=17). Plasma for the study was collected before the angiography and centrifuged. SDF-la analysis was performed by ELISA. Plasma level of SDF-la is significantly increased in patients with stable angina(n=20) and unstable angina group(n=28) compared with healthy control group(n=27). the risk factors do not influence the plasma level of SDF-la in coronary artery diseases. In this study, plasma level of SDF-la is increased in patients with stable angina and unstable angina groups compared with healthy control group(P<0.05). the risk factors do not influence the plasma level of SDF-la in coronary artery diseases.

Retinoic acid에 의해 유발된 흰쥐의 구개열에서 Transforming Growth Factor-beta 1, 2, 3의 발현의 변화

Objective : Craniofacial malformations are among the most frequent congenital birth defects in humans : cleft palate, that is inadequate fusion of the palatal shelves. Retinoic acid is teratogenic in many species, producing multiple malformations, including cleft palate. Also it plays an important role in embryogenesis, by regulating morphogenesis, cell proliferation, differentiation, and deposition of the extracellular matrix. The effects of retinoic acid which leads to cleft palate vary depending on the stage of development exposed. After exposure of embryonic mice to retinoic acid on gestational day(GD) 10, abnormally small palatal shelves form. And the elevation of palatal shelves is delayed. The growth and differentiation factor, transforming growth factor-beta(TGFβ) family is thought to play important roles in multiple developmental processes, especially, the development of the embryonic palate. The expression of the TGFβ family in embryonic palate suggests a functional role for these molecules. In this study, author has determined the tissue distributions of TGFβ family in murine embryonic palate, and compared them in terms of developmental stage and locations in normal and retinoic acid-induced cleft palate. Methods and Material : Retinoic acid was administered orally at gestational day(GD) 10 to ICR mice. The pregnant mice were sacrifeced on GD 12, 13. 14, 15 to obtain the fetuses and immunohistochemistry was performed. And using the scanning electron microscope, morphology of normal palate and cleft palate was studied. Results : In the retinoic acid-treated fetuses, palatal shelves did not elevate and cleft palate was induced. On GD 13 in the palates of the retinoic acid-treated fetuses, expression of the TGFβ1, 3 decreased dramatically, but that of TGFβ2, did not change. The expression of the TGFβ1, 3 in the palates of the retinoic acid-treated fetuses, increased on GD 14, 15, Significant differences in TGFβ family expression were observed with areas of the palate. Conclusion : These results suggest that retinoic acid inhibits the expression of TGFβ 1, 3, which is critical in the developing palate, and elevation of palatal shelves is delayed and impaired, therefore cleft palate is induced. These data demonstrate a role for retinoic acid and retinoic aicd-induced TGFβ family in the regulation of palatal development and suggest a role for TGFβ in retinoic acid-induced cleft palate.

상완골 근위부 골절에서 클로버잎형 금속판을 이용한 치료

Purpose : To evaluate the result of the clover-leaf plating for the treatment of the proximal humeral fracture. Materials and Methods : We performed open reduction and internal fixation with clover-leaf plate in 15 displaced proximal humeralfractures. The average follow-up period was 12months. We performed radiographic study to check bony union and applied Neer's score to evaluate shoulder function. Results : All 15 fractures consolidated at 5 months average. Shoulder function was classified as 7 excellent, 4 satisfactory and 4 unsatisfactory. There was no infection or avascular necrosis of humeral head. Impingement syndrome was detected in 2 patients. Conclusion : When we perform open reduction and internal fixation for proximal humeral fractures, clover-leaf plate can give us rigid fixation with its proximal multi-hole.

Lymphangiomas are relatively rare benign tumors of the lymphatic system, characterized by congenital lymphatic malformation such as anastomosis or obstuction of the lymphatic channels. There are most frequently diagnosed in children younger than 3years. In contrast to that of the hemangioma, the sex distribution of the lymphangioma is nearly evenly divided. The head and neck lymphangioma represents about 70∼75% of all lymphangiomas, and they are difficult to manage. Spontaneous regression is rare, and rapid intermittent enlargement occurs secondary to infection or trauma. Enlargement may cause serious sequelae such as airway obstruction, feeding difficulties, and cosmetic problems. Treatments previously used for lymphangiomas include surgical excision and intralesional injection of sclerosants. Problems associated with surgical excision include the risk of cosmetically unacceptable scarring and the risk of damage to surrounding vital stricture and the high risk of incomplete excision. The sclerosants previously used have numerous other local and systemic side effects. This report describes a case that was successfully treated using OK-432 as a new sclerosant drug and secondary surgical excision for congential cavenous lymphangioma extensively enlarged to tongue, mouth floor and submandibular region.

There are a number of studies using spray impaction on the wall, that makes breaked-up droplets by impaction be distributed in the free space of combustion chamber. In this study the characteristics of the impaction spray, for instance, the size-, distance-, angle- of the impaction land prepared for the injection spray are analyzed, and from the result of experiments a new combustion chamber is proposed. The characteristics of the new combustion chamber is better than that of conventional type from the view of spray distribution and SMD.
