원격탐사에 사용되는 편미분방정식을 고속으로 풀기 위한 기법을 프로그래밍하고 성능을 향상시킬 수 있는 방법을 제시했다. 미지수가 30만개 이상되는 복소수(non-Hermitian) 행렬의 해를 구하는 프로그램을 작성했다. 이 프로그램은 C와 PVM에 기반을 두고 있다. 수렴속도를 향상시키기 위해 대각 스케일링을 이용했다. 통신속도의 개선을 위해 데이터 압축 기법을 이용했다. 수렴속도를 측정 제시함으로써 실제 문제 적용에 참고할 수 있다. Network-based computing with cluster of personal computers or workstations recently has become an important and successful technique. Network-based computing enables fast computation and resolves short of storage with computers on the desks. Cluster of inexpensive computers offers them aggregated computing power and storage to challenge very large-scale problems. Iterative solvers are used for the large sparse linear systems. Preconditioners accelerate the rate of convergence of the iterative solvers. However, parallelization accelerate the rate of convergence of the iterative solvers. However, parallelization of preconditioners is far from satisfaction so far. Thus, the simplest diagonal scaling is a good alternative for improved convergence and easy parallelization. In order to reduce communication overhead, a data compression technique is considered. Data communication time can be reduced at the cost of convergence rate. MATLAB simulation result is given in this paper. This method is effective to cluster of computers connected through slow networks.

The advent of neuroimaging technique has enabled the accurate diagnosis of structural abnormalities associated with intractable epilepsy. Among these, neuronal migration disorders(NMDs) or cortical dysplasias(CDs) involving cerebral cortex are increasingly recognized as a major cause of intractable epilepsy. CDs are expressed as variety of forms depending upon the time of injury to the developing nervous system. CDs are highly and intrinsically epileptogenic. It is crucial to completely resect the epileptogenic zone in focal CDs for better seizure outcome. Hemispherectomy or multilobar resection is preferred for hemimegalencephaly. Callosotomy can be chosen in the diffuse CDs who have intractable drop attacks. However, resective surgery can benefit the selected patients with diffuse CDs if localizing information persists.

영상검색은 문자위주의 검색의 한계로, 그 내용에 기반 한 특징벡터를 이용하여 검색을 수행한다. 특징벡터간의 거리를 계산하고 그 값들에 순위를 매긴다. 이렇게 얻어진 순위 값들을 가지고 사용된 검색방법의 유효성을 검사하는데 Recall/Precision방법이 이용되고 있다. 질의영상과 같은 군에 속하는 영상이 얼마나 검출되었는지를 검출된 영상에 기반 하여 계산하거나, 영상 군에 기반 하여 계산하는 방법들이다. 그러나, 검출되는 순위 값의 범위를 정하고, 그 범위 내에 속하는 만족하는 값의 개수를 세는 방법을 이용한다. 따라서 주어진 두 샘플의 전체적인 경향을 비교하지는 못한다. 본 연구에서는 순위를 이용하여 비교하고자하는 두 샘플의 순위들을 결합하여 순위를 매기고 각 샘플들에 매겨진 순위값들의 평균과 분산을 이용하여 각 샘플들을 전체적으로 비교할 수 있다. Retrieval effectiveness of content-based image is usually measured by "recall and precision" method. The method has disadvantages such that it depends on the number of considered images among retrieved ones. We propose the Wilcoxon rank test for measuring retrieval effectiveness instead of the recall and precision.

Background: Onychomycosis, especially toenail onychomycosis has become one of the common fungal infection and has historically been regarded as a cosmetic rather than medical problem by many patients, even by physicians. Recently, however, there are several reports that is a refractory disease which may cause a deleterious effect on patiets quality of life (QOL). Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of toenail onychomycosis on QOL in Korea and to assess the chandes of QOL after treatment. Methods: Total 1004 patients with toenail onychomycosis which was confirmed by clinical findings and KOH preparation were were enrolled at 47 dermatologic centers in Korea, and interviewed with standardized QOL questionnaire before and after sytemic antifungal treatment. Responses to the questionnaire were scored by 5-point scale (1∼4) and averaged, and were analyzed for 5 dimensions of emotional impact, social impact, symptorn and functional impact, patients views concerning treatment, and relationship with doctor. Results: 1. Before and after treatment, the most serious impact was emotional dimension showing 1.90 and 1.30 in average score (AS), and social (AS: 1.14 and 0.83) and symptom and functional impact (AS: 1.05 and 0.92) was also affected. 2. In female rather than male, statistically more significant impact on patients QOL was observed in all dimensions. 3. After treatment, 3 of 5 dimensions were improved significantly - emotional dimension (AS : from 1.90 to 1.30), social dimension (AS: from 1.14 to 0.83), patients view concerning treatment (AS: from 1.34 to 1.02). 4. The drgree of patients satisfaction at the therapeutic effect was very high- 62.4% (immediately after treatment) and 65.8% (9 months affer initiation of treatment) of patients answered excellent or good. Conclusion: This study confirms that toenail onychomycosis has significant impact on the overall QOL of patients. Also the effect of antifungal therapy on patients QOL were watisfactory. Therefore, both doctor and patient should pay more attention to the treatment of onychomycosis. [Kor J Med Mycol 3(1): 115∼124]
Feasibility Study of Different Biochars as Adsorbent for Cadmium and Lead

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of different biochars on the removal of heavy metals from aqueous media. The experiment was carried out in aqueous solutions containing $200mg\;CdL^{-1}$ or $200mg\;PbL^{-1}$ using two different biochars derived from soybean stover and orange peel (20 mg Cd or $Pbg^{-1}$ biochar). After shaking for 24 hours, biochars were filtered out, and Cd and Pb in the filtrate were analyzed by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometer (FAAS). In order to provide information regarding metal binding strength on biochars, sequential extraction was performed by modified SM&T (formerly BCR). The results showed that 70~100% of initially added Cd and Pb was adsorbed on biochars and removed from aqueous solution. The removal rate of Pb (95%, 100%) was higher than that of Cd (70%, 91%). In the case of Cd, orange peel derived biochar (91%) showed higher adsorption rate than soybean stover derived biochar (70%). Cd was adsorbed on the biochar mainly in exchangeable and carbonates fraction (1st phase). In contrast, Pb was adsorbed on it mainly in the form of Fe-Mn oxides and residual fraction (2nd and 4th phase). The existence of Cd and Pb as a form of surface-precipitated complex was also observed on the surfaces of biochars detected by field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDAX).

시스템 다이내믹스를 이용한 간호단위별 간호인력 산정에 관한 연구

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to forecast manpower by building the nursing manpower-staffing model(surgical-medical nursing unite). Method: The system dynamics approach was adapted to build a simulation model for calculating medical-surgical nursing manpower-staffing. The model was built up on Venism 5.0b DSS. Result: The results in the basic circumstance are in following. The level of nursing service quality, patientsatisfaction, and nurse job satisfaction maintains higher at medical-surgical nursing unit of the tertiary hospitals with the ratio of bed to nurse 2.5:1-3.0:1 than at any other situations. The level of nursing service quality, patient satisfaction, and nurse job satisfaction maintains higher at madical nursing unit of the secontary hospotals with the ratio of bed to nurse 3.0:1 and at surgical nursing unit of the secondary hospitals with the ratio of bed to nurse 3.0:1-3.5:1 than at any other situations in the fundamental from. The results in the simulation circumstance are in following, As author raises the operating rate of bed into 95-100%, and cut skilled nursing staff down, the level of nursing-service quality, patient satisfaction, and nurse job satisfaction drops slightly. Conclusion: In terms of economic efficiency on tertiary hospotals, the ratio of bed to nurse for the best reasonable medical-surgical nursing manpower-staffing is 3.0:1. In terms of economic efficiency on secondary hospitals, the ratio of bed to nurse for the best reasonable medical nursing manpower-staffing is 3.0:1 and surgical nursing manpower-staffing is 3.5:1
