        Thymoma is associated with myasthenia gravis, Pure red cell aplasia, and autoimmune diseases such as autoimmune hemolytic anemia, aplastic anemia, and hypogammaglobulinemia. It's association with aplastic anemia is rare and aplastic anemia appearing after surgical removal of thymoma is especially rare. The authors hereby report a case of aplastic anemia occuring in a patient who was diagnosed with thymoma and myasthenia gravis and had the tumor surgically removed. The patient was treated with anti-thymocyte globulin, cyclosporin, and prednisolone, and showed partial remission with hematologic improvements after 12 months.

        We, Kyung-hee University in Suwon has planned to build an open-air theater behind the building of natural science, and feel the need of creating places for cultural life and recreation. As the origin aim of this construction and landscape, university students can use this facilities and place for their daily relaxation and cultivation of emotion, and they also can utilize them for places of their meetings and events. Concerning the following completion of the UN Peace Park, our theater and the surrounding places will expectingly play important roles for the park because the open-air No-cheon theater is included in the full site of the UN Peace park. The focused elements of this basic plan are maintaining the basic plan of the UN Peace Park, forming the visually creative background, of the open-air theater cultural and recreational places, balancing and integrating human, nature, and the useful facilities.

        Hearing impairement in varying degrees constitutes one of the most common disabilites affecting school aged children. Eight out of every 1,000 students under the age of twenty have significant hearing loss. Hearing disabilities range from slight to total loss of sound perception. Statistics indicate that only one out of every ten hearing impaired children will become deaf. Most motor activities can be included students may possess low levels of static and/ or dynamic balance, but the greatest majority possess normal motor and physical capabilities. All the hearing impaired youngsters should be properly assessed and given the identical testing batteries as normal children. Hearing impaired students have, essentialy, a communication handicap and suffer from inability to understand verbal instructions. All physical educators should be able to use minimal finger spelling and signing for hearing impaired students.

      • 독성물질의 세포사 기전 및 세포사 유발물질의 검색법 개발에 관한 연구(Ⅱ) : 망간 신경독성을 이용한 파킨슨증 모델의 세포사 Studies on the Mechanism of Parkinsonism induced by Manganese

        1960년대 이후 파킨슨병의 유발물질 중 한 후보로서 망간이 주목받으면서 많은 역학적, 병러학적 연구가 수행죄브다. 그러나 망간이 파킨슨병을 직접 일으키는지, 혹은 파킨슨병과 관련된 부위의 신경세포를 파괴시쿡 파킨슨증만을 초래하는 것인지가 아직 정립되지 않은 실정이다 본 연구에서는 실험동물모델에서 행등학적 변화 측정 및 병리학적, 샐화학적 연구를 통하여 망간의 과다노출글 따른 파킨슨병 유발 여부를 확인하고자 하였다. Sprague-Datylet· 렛드에 망간을 1, 2, 5, 10 mgAg/day의 응량으로 30일 등안 복강 투여하였을 때 모든 망간투여군에서 운동성 감소가 관찰되었다. 뇌조직의 망간 함량을 ion chromatograph?로 측정한 결과 중뇌 흑질과 기저핵 선조체에서 망간 함량의 뚜렷한 증가 소견이 관찰되었으며, 니슬염색체서 선조체의 신경세포수의 유의성 있는 감소가 관찰되었다. 그러나, 흑질의 TH효소 면역염색, GFAP 면역염색, 흑질과 선조체의 T릿효소 western blot 결과는 대조군과 차이가 없었다. 이상의 결과에서, 망간-파킨슨증 모델에서 파킨슨증어 유발되는 기전은 흑질 도파민성 신경 세포의 신호를 받는 선조체 씬경세포의 사멸에 의한 것으로 생각된다. 결론적으로, 망간 독성에 의한 파킨스증 모델에서는 파킨슨 병과는 달리 흑질 도파민성 신경세포의 세포사는 관여하지 않는 것으로 관찰되었다. Manganese(Mn) intoxication causes a parkinsonian syndrome. It may be difficult to distinguish Mn-induced parkinsonism from idiopathic Parkinson disease(IPD). Neuropathological descriptions on the brains with Mn intoxication showed the perferential damage in the globus pallidus and substantia nigra pars reticularis. Pathological reports on the substantia nigra pars compacta(SNpc), a mafor focus of pathologic changes in IPD, are discordant and controversial. The SNpc involvement is of critical importance for the elucidation of pathogenesis of IPD. Therefore, the neurodegeneration in SNpc was investigated in the experimental model of Mn neurotoxicity. Sprague-Dawley rats were administered with manganese chloride(1, 2, 5, 10 mg/kg/day, i.p.) for 30 days. Treated animals showed low levels of distance-traveled from locomotor activity tests. Ion chromatography revealed that Mn accumulation was significant in SN and basal ganglia in Mn-treated animals. Nissl staining showed neuronal loss of the striatum in all treated animals. The degree of neurodegeneration in SN was determined by immunohistochemical staining of tyrosine hydroxylase(TH). The numbers of TH-positive cells on nigral sections were not different from each groups(P>0.05). The densities of glial fibrillary acidic protein immunoreactivity from SN were similar between groups. TH-westen blotting showed no differences between treated animals and controls. In conclusion, the SNpc remains intact in Mn intoxication, and Mn-induced parkinsonism may be caused by damages of output pathways downstream to the nigrostriatal dopminergic system.

      • 전력선/무선 통합 모뎀을 이용한 Door Lock의 원격 제어 시스템

        In this paper we proposed the remote control system for the door lock by the unified modem with the wireless and the power line modem. We developed the management system program between the door-lock system and the proposed unified modem. The infrared communication system was used between the Door-Lock system and the power line modem. With the unified developed modem and the Door-Lock system, it is possible to control remotely the developed system in the internet service area.

      • 동진강 유역의 농업활동에 의한 수질변화와 실측부하량

        The entire duration of the research work was from December-2000 to July-2002. Site measurement were conducted during various season, in a dry season(December), in rainfall, in seed-sowing time and also collecting data from the rural public organizations related to water management was done and examined during the mid of research work. Generally, the Dong Jin River watershed contains small three Creeks, KoBu, DongJin(including JeongEup and ChilBo, WonPyong). It was further divided into 32 sub-watersheds which comprises of further 5, 18, 9 watersheds in the creeks respectively. Inflow loading to the river was calculated from measurement of general water quality and quantity and these field surveys were made thrice times in agricultural drainage channels, where fertilizers and pesticides leaching from the surface have an direct effect for the deterioration of the several creek and river. Estimation of contaminant loading has been done by using unit loading based on the notification No. 1999 - 143 of the Ministry of Environment. Most of estimated loading data reported during the research work were slightly higher when compared with the notification of the Ministry but they do not have any significant effect. It was assumed that sub-watersheds have considerable field survey loading data, which were affected due to non-point source pollution load as compared to point source. For investigation of surface rainfall ranging from .50㎜ during non-farming or .10 rainfall on the period of farming, BOD loadings in the field during farming showed slightly higher levels in comparison with discharge loadings, T-N also showed the similar trend as discussed earlier.

        In this paper, we study the river level/velocimetry measuring system using the ultrasonic sensor to acquire the more Precise data From the river circumstance in rainy season. We design the two ultrasonic sensor system to calculate the wather level and surface current speed of the river using the dedicated hardware and software. We investigate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed system which applied to the real river environment monotoring system that will be extended to the GIS.

        Shade guide의 형태가 색상 결정에 미치는 영향

        This study was conducted in order to assess whether the form of the shade guide affects in deciding the color of the teeth using the shade guide. Eight shade light cured composite resins (Esthet-X, Dentsply, Milford, USA) were used in this study. Shade guides including the model of maxillary central incisors, teeth-form shade guide, doughnut form shade guide, and shade guide with perforated gray shield were prepared with eight shade composite resins and provided the codes randomly. After arranging the models of teeth, 19 dentists working at the clinic of the Dentistry of Chonnam University Hospital and 65 students of college of dentistry, Chonnnam University selected the shade guides corresponding to the color of each tooth on the gray board under the D_(65) standard illuminant. Bl shade showed highest accuracy of about 95% among all shade guides of 3 forms applied to the test and regardless of observer, tooth form shade guide showed the highest accuracy (p < 0.05) , and the doughnut form showed the lowest accuracy (p < 0.05). At the time of deciding on the color of the teeth using the shade guides as a result of above, the forms of the shade guides can affect the accuracy, and it suggests that the development of the diversified forms of shade guides, which may obtain more accurate results, is required. 본 연구에서는 shade guide를 이용하여 치아의 색상을 결정하는데 있어 shade guide의 형태가 미치는 영향을 평가 하기 위해 시행하였다 8가지 서로 다른 색상 code (Al, A2, Bl, B2, B3, C2, C3, D3)를 사용하는 광중합 복합레진 (Esthet-X, Dentsply, USA)을 이용하여 각 색상마다 상악 중절치 모형, 치아형 shade guide, 도넛형 shade guide, 및 회색 shield를 포함하는 shade guide를 제작하고 무작위로 기호를 부여하였다. 제작된 치아 모형을 배열하고 전남 대학교병원 치과 진료처에 근무하는 19명의 수련의와 전남대학교 치과대학 2, 3학년 학생 65명을 대상으로 회색 배경 판과 D_(65) 표준광 하에서 각 치아의 색상과 일치하는 shade guide를 선택하게 하였다. 연구 결과 Bl 색상은 실험에 적용한 3가지 형태의 모든 shade guide에서 약 95%의 가장 높은 정확도를 보였으며 , 색상간 색차가 가장 적은 B2와 C2는 3가지 형태의 모든 shade guide에서 서로 비슷한 정도의 교차 선택율을 보였다. 또한 관찰자에 상관없이 치아 형태의 shade guide는 가장 높은 정확도를 보인 반면 (p < 0.05), 도넛 형태의 shade guide는 가장 낮은 정확도를 보였다 (p <0.05)

      • 골다공증 진단에 피부 두께의 임상적 유용성 평가

        The study was carried out to examine how much clinically useful was the skin thickness in diagnosis of osteoporosis. The project was to look into not only the presumption that patients with osteoporosis have the skin loss at the similar rate of the reduction in the collagen content of the bone but also the correlation between the collagen content and the skin thickness. The skin thickness was measured on the dorsal hand(right) of the patients using an ultrasonic technique with a 20 MHz focused ultrasonic transducer. Measurements of the bone density of the patients were made on both the lumbar spine (L2-4) and the femoral neck using Dual­Energy X­ray Absorptionmeter(DEXA, Norland). An ultrasonic bone densitometer(Mark 6000, Medison Co. Korea) was taken to measure the speed of sound (SOS) on the calcaneus. It was observed that there were some degrees of correlation between the bone density obtained by the DEXA and the SOS of the calcaneous (P<0.01). There was no evidence that the skin thickness was correlated with the DEXA produced bone density and ultrasonically measured SOS.

      • 기온의 일변화에 대한 고찰

        The research of appearance time delay of highest and lower air temperature in a day and diurnal variation of air temperature were carried out and the results are as follow; 1) In respect to diurnal variation of mean temperature. the highest temperature in a day appear at 1500LST and the lowest temperature come out at 0600LST except for autumn. Therefore, it is considered that lowest temperature is observed just before sun rising or immediately after sunset. 2) The reason of appearance time delay of highest temperature is associated with continental degree and oceanic degree. At this point, the farther it is from costal area, the later highest temperature appear. 3) Characteristics of area where the frequency of highest temperature appearance before 1200LST is more than 10 day, is close to coastal line. This is caused by a) land-sea breeze occurrence, b) clear sky under 5.4 cloudiness, c) wet and high humid atmosphere, and d) high percentage of sunshine.
