      • 人蔘 Total Saponin, Protopanaxadiol 및 Protopanaxatriol의 消炎作用에 關한 硏究

        Abstract-In an attempt to elucidate the anti-inflammatory action of ginseng total saponin, protopanaxadiol and protopanaxatriol, the anti-inflammatory activity of three compounds was investigated under various acute and chronic inflammatory models. The blood vessel permeability was slightly inhibited by total saponin and protopanaxatriol treatments. Granuloma formation induced by 2% carrageenan was inhibited by total saponin and protopanaxatriol. The cotton-pellet granuloma formation was significantly inhibited by intraperitoneal injection of total saponin. Total saponin and protopanaxadiol inhibited leukocyte emigration and protein exudation in CMC-induced pouch but protopanaxatriol increased leukocyte emigration. The swelling of rat hind paw induced by 1% carrageenan was significantly inhibited by total saponin, protopanaxadiol and protopanaxatriol both single and 2 weeks treatments. Total saponin, protopanaxadiol and protopanaxatriol decreased the anti-inflammatory activity in adrenalectomized rat. Our results suggest that total saponin, protopanaxadiol and protopanaxatriol have potent anti-inflammatory activity, this may be mediated in part through stimulation of adrenal glands.

        대전시 유통 과실류의 농약 잔류 실태 및 위해성 평가

        대전시 노은 도매 시장에 서 채취한 과실류와 6종의 농약잔류량을 조사한 후 이에 대한 위해성 평가를 실시하였다. 전체 120건 분석시료 중 70.8%가 농약 성분이 검출되었고 그중 1.67%가 잔류허용기준치을 초과하여 검출되었다. 검출 비율이 높은 시료는 사과, 복숭아, 포도 등이었다. 검출된 성분에서 살충제는 유기인계, 합성 pyrethroid계, 유기염소계가 비슷한 비율로 검출되었고, 살균제에서는 특히 procymidone(dicarboximide계)과 chlorothalonil(유기염소계)의 검출비율이 높았다. 검출빈도가 높은 성분은 chlorothalonil, chlorpyrifos, fenvalerate, procymidone, deltamethrin, EPN의 순이었다. 위해성을 평가하기 위해서 각 농작물에 대한 농약의 추정섭취량과 ADI를 비교한 결과, 추정섭취량의 비율이 1.221%이하로 나타나 그 영향이 매우 낮은 것으로 판단되었다. 이것은 농약 잔류 허용기준치를 초과한 농작물인 복숭아에서 chlorothalonil, EPN에 대해서도 동일한 결과를 나타내었다. Pesticide residues in some fruits collected at Noeun wholesale market, Daejeon were surveyed and assessed its risk. In 120 samples, the detection rate of pesticide was 70.8% and the rate exceed MRL was 1.67%. Highly detection rate of commodities was apple, peach and grape. Organophosphorus, organochlorine and pyrethroid insecticide were found with similar rate relatively, but most of fungicides were procymidone(dicarboximides) and chlorothalonil(organochlorine). The order of detected pesticide were chlorothalonil, chlorpyrifos, fenvalerate, procymidone, deltamethrin and EPN. In order to assess risk, estimated intake amount of each pesticide was compared to ADI. Although some peach were exceed MRL, the total amount and uptake pesticides was less than 1.22% comparing to ADI.

        Conventional efficiencies of the adiabatic expansion process such as isentropic efficiency and polytropic efficiency can be explained as the special cases of exergetic efficiencies replacing the reference atmospheric temperature with temperatures which can be determined in the process itself. It enables to explain the meaning of the efficiencies more general and, to define other efficiency such as minimum isentropic efficiency by specifying proper reference temperatures.

      • 大田 3大 河川의 自然河岸과 人工河岸의 植物相과 植物群落의 比較

        The phytosociological investigation was carried out at natural and artificial streamsides over 3 main streams located in Taejeon, by Braun- Blanquet's method for the comparative study of the flora and vegetation from May to October, 1998. On the natural streamside, total number of vascular plant species were 142 species and hydrophyte of them was 27 species, while on the artificial streamside the former species number was 138 species and hydrophyte was 21 ones. The plant communities in the natural streamside were classified into 17 groups, such as Zizania latifolia community, Typha orientalis community, Phragmites communis community, Phragmites japonica community, Miscanthus sacehariflorus-Hemarthria sibirica community, Leersia japonica community, Trapa japonica-Trapa pseudo-incisa community, Marsilea quadrifolia community, Hydrilla verticillata-Myriophyllum verticillatum community, Vallisneria asiatica-Potamogeton malaianus var. latifolius community, Myriophyllum verticillatum community, Spirodela polyrhiza- Lemna paucicostata community, Salix glandulosa-Salix koreensis community, Salix gracilistyla community, Salix koreensis community, Phalaris arundinacea community, Persicaria hydropiper community. On the other hand, the plant community in the artificial streamside was classified into 14 communities, such as Zizania latifolia community, Typha orientalis community, Miscanthus sacchariflorus - Hemarthria sibirica community, Phragmites japonica community, Leersia japonica community, Hydrilla verticillata-Myriophyllum verticillatum community, Vallisneria asiatica- Potamogeton malaianus community, Paspalum distichum community, Phalaris arundinacea community, Persicaria hydropiper community, Zoysia japonica-Digitaria sanguinalis community, Panicum dichotomiflorum-Persicaia lapathifolia community, Echinochloa crusgalli- Setaria viridis community, Artemisia princeps community, Rumex crispus- Rorippa islandica community, Portulaca oleracea community, Potentilla paradoxa community, Panicum dichtomiflorum community. Number of species and plant communities were variously distributed over the various sites in the natural streamside, it is more than in the artificial streamside was distributed. These results mean that the distribution of plant community and number of species in the wild plant were more closely to be related to the human impacts or one's disturbance.

      • Group B Streptococci 감염의 임상양상과 Pulsed-Field Gel Electrophoresis를 이용한 유전자형 분석

        Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PPGE) has been employed as a tool to study correlation between apparent clinical features and genotyping of Group B Streptococci (GBS) infection. The result of serotyping among 45 isolates showed that serotype la, lb, Ⅲ, Ⅳ, Ⅴ, NT (nontypeable) were 15.5%, 11.1%, 35.5%, 2.22%, 20%, 15.5%, respectively. The result of serotyping for infection group of 26 isolates showed that serotype la, lb, Ⅲ, Ⅳ, Ⅴ, NT were 11.5%, 15.4%, 34.6%, 3.8%, 11.5%, 23%, respectively. The result of serotyping for carrier group of 19 isolates showed that serotype la, lb, Ⅲ, Ⅴ, NT were 21%, 5.3%, 36.8%, 31.6%, 5.3%, respectively. Thus, the predominant serotypes of the infection groups were serotype lb and Ⅲ, and those of the carrier groups serotype Ⅲ and Ⅴ. All isolates were characterized by PFGE analysis. Isolates were assigned to three major phylogenetic Divisions (Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ) and subsequently to 16 PFGE groups (A[A1, A2, A3], B[B1, B2, B3], C, D[D1. D2, D3, D4, D5, D6], E[E1, E2], F). Seventy five percentages of Division Ⅰ belonged to the infection group. Seventy eight percentages Division Ⅱ of belonged to the carrier group. One hundred percentages of Division Ⅲ belonged to the infection group. The study on the correlation between genotype and serotype among the isolates showed that serotype Ⅲ was predominant in A1 group (5 of 5 isolates), D1 group (4 of 5 isolates), and F group (2 of 2 isolates). In addition, serotype Ⅴ was the sole serotype in C and D5 group. Those results indicated that serotyping and PFGE group analysis were highly correlated.

      • 탈지 환원유에서 Bifidobacterium longum의 호기성 고농도 배양에 관한 연구

        The objectives of this study were to investigate the optimal condition for growth and highly concenterated culture of Bifidobacterium longum (Bif longum). The effects of additives were compared with titratable acidity and viable cell counts, and 10% reconstituted skim milk (no additive) was used as a control. Correlation coefficient for the growth of Bif. longun between CO_2 anaerobic jar method and overalaid medium method was R=0.99. When 1% Bif. longurn was inoculated on 12%, 14%, and 16% reconstituted skim-milk, viable cell counts were 8.60, 8.89, and 8.93 Log CFU/ml, respectively. When Lactose, Glucose, Glucosamine, Fructose, Peptone, N-acethyl-D-glucosamine, D-galactose, and liver extract were added to 16% reconstituted skim-milk, the viable cell counts were 8.61, 9.05, 9.15, 9.24, 8.82, 9.75, 9.17, and 9.64 Log CFU/ml, respectively. Therefore, D-galactose, liver extract, and N-acethyl-D-glucosamine were selected as final additives. When Bif longum was inoculated on Fermentor-I (16% reconstituted skim milk containing 0.1% yeast extract, 0.5% D-galactose and 0.5% liver extract), Fermentor-II (16% reconstituted skim milk containing 0.190% yeast extract, 0.590% N-acethyl-D-glucosamine and 0.5% liver extract), Batch culture-I (16% reconstituted skim milk containing 0.1% yeast extract, 0.5% D-galactose and 0.5% liver extract), and Batch culture-II (16% reconstituted skim milk containing 0.1% yeast extract, 0.5% N-acethyl-D-glucosamine and 0.5% liver extract), viable cell counts were 10.46, 9.37, 9.03, and 8.83 Log CFU/ml, respectively. Although liver extract was the important additive for the highly concentrated culture of Bif. longum in this study, it caused serious off-flavor when liver extract-1 (contained cell mass) was added to Fermentor culture. However, flavor was improved when liver extract-2 which was removed cell mass, was used instead of liver extract-1. Addition of 2% liver extract-II and 1% D-galactose had the similar effect with addition of 0.5% Liver extract-I and 0.5% D-galactose on the growth of Bif. longum.

      • 茵蔯蒿가 흰쥐 肝조직내 Na^+·K^+ -ATPase 活性에 미치는 영향

        In order to investigate the effects of Artemisia on bile flow, the bile volume and the activities of Na^+·K^+-ATPase in liver plasma membrane and liver homogenate were examined in rats orally administered methanol extract of Artemisiae messer-schmidtiana Besser var. viridis Besser for 3 days. In the case of bile juice, the flow rate was increased 30∼70%. The activities of Na^+·K^+-ATPase was increased to 2.5 fold in liver homogenate and 2.1 fold in liver plasma membrane. On the other hand activities of Mg^++-ATPase was slightly increased in both liver homogenate and liver plasma membrane.

        Under the pressure to open the service market as proposed by World Trade Organization, we can easily expect our educational systems for allied health professions will experience a lot of changes in near future. Accordingly, we compared our current educational systems for allied health professions with the foreign ones and mapped out some strategies predicting the forthcoming enormous changes. Major investigations and analysis are summed up as follows, The educational programs for allied health professions which was started in 1963 in Korea are stilled remained as 2 to 3 school years, while the systems in advanced countries have already been changed or been changing from 2 year to 4 year college levels. We can hardly find the uniform educational system or school years for the allied health professions in the world except for Korea. Fortunately, university level four-year programs for the profession was established in 1979 in Won-joo for the first time in Korea. However, there are still only few four-year programs in this country. To meet the rapidly changing needs we have faced in the health areas we should supply appropriate health personnel through various efforts. Now we would like to suggest followings, <Educational goals for the allied health professions> 1) reconfirming characteristics for the educational goals of health professions 2) extending school years for the allied health professions 3) strengthening clinical training and internship 4) expanding opportunities for the continuing education through lifelong education 5) upgrading from old-fashioned technologies to advanced technologies 6) cultivating competencies of health professionals for the global competition <Suggestions for the Development of Allied Health Professions> 1) reforming the school years of educational programs for the allied health professions to meet the global standards 2) expanding the role of junior college programs for the allied health professions through the development of intensive courses in the professions. 3) diversifying and specializing the allied health professions mainly through 4 year B.S. degree programs.

        잉여양파의 첨가급여가 오리의 성장과 도체특성에 미치는 영향

        본 연구의 목적은 상품화하기 어려워 버려지는 양파를 오리의 사료자원으로 이용하여 그 효과를 평가하고자 수행하였다. 시험동물은 1 일령 Cherry Valley F$_1$ 360수를 오리가 생체중 3 kg에 도달하는 시기인 약 7 주령 (49 일령)까지 사육하였다. 처리는 대조구, 세절 양파 3%, 6%, 양파 엑기스 5%, 10%, 착즙박 6%, 발효사료 3%, 6%, 등 8 처리로, 처리구 당 45수를 임의 배치하였다. 사료 섭취량은 대조구가 처리구에 비해 유의성(P<0.05)있게 높았으나, 증체량은 오히려 세절 양파 3%처리구가 가장 높았다. 사료 요구율에 있어서도 대조구와 비교해 발효사료 6%를 제외하고는 전체 처리구에서 낮게 나타나 사료효율도 우수한 경향을 보여주었다. 도체율은 양파 추출물 5% 처리구가 가장 높은 경향을 보였으나, 대조구와 처리구간에 유의성은 없었다. 복강내 지방의 중량은 대조구와 발효사료 6% 처리구에서 다른 처리구에 비해 높게 나타났으며, 세절 양파 6% 처리구에서 가장 낮은 복강 지방량을 보였다. 복강 지방율에 있어서는 발효사료 6% 처리구를 제외하고는 대조구와 각 처리구간에 유의적 (P<0.05)인 차이를 보였다. 콜레스테롤 함량은 대조구에 비하여 모든 처리구에서 약간 낮은 경향이었지만 유의적인 변화는 보이지 않았다. 양파급여 오리육에서 stearic acid ($C_{18:0}$)는 대조구에 비하여 현저히 낮아졌다 (P<0.05). 특히 세절 양파 3% 급여구와 양파 추출물 5% 급여구에서 유의적으로 줄어들었다. 반면에 arachidonic acid ($C_{20:4}$)는 대조구에 비하여 처리구에서 높게 측정되었다. 결과를 종합해 볼 때 잉여양파를 함유한 오리사료는 기호성, 사료 섭취량, 및 증체량에는 별다른 영향을 미치지 않았고 기호성도 다른 가금류에 비해 잡식성인 오리에게는 문제가 없는 것으로 나타나, 오리의 사료로서 충분한 가치가 있다고 사료된다. The objectives or this study were to examine reed value or waste onion in duck. Experimental chicks (Cherry Valley F$_1$, 1day old, 350 chicks) were randomly assigned in 8 treatment groups, each 45 chicks, and man-aged for 7 weeks (3 kg BW, 49 days old). Treatments were control, 3%, 6% of chopped onion-fed, 5%, 10% of onion extract fed, 6% of onion meal, 3%, 6% of fermented onion-fed. Feed intake was significantly (P<0.05) high in control group, but ADG was high in 3% chopped onion-fed group. Feed requirement was very efficient in all treatment groups except 6% fermented onion-fed group. Dressing rate was high in 5% onion extract-fed group, but it was not significant. Abdominal fat was the highest in control and 6% fermented onion-fed group and lowest in 6% chopped onion-fed group. Cholesterol content was lower in all treatment groups than in control group, but it was not significantly different. Stearic acid ($C_{18:0}$) content was significantly low in all treatment group (P<0.05). However, arachidonic acid ($C_{20:4}$) content was higher in treatment group than in control group. In result, onion diet was not significantly effect on palatability, feed intake, ADG in ducks. Duck meat of onion-fed contained low cho-lesterol and high unsaturated fat content.
