특성화고등학교 학생의 수업몰입과 학습심리변인 및 교사 수업행동의 관계

이 연구의 목적은 특성화고등학교 학생의 수업몰입과 학습심리변인 및 교사 수업행동의 관계를 구명하는 데 있었다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여 첫째, 특성화고 학생의 수업몰입과 학습심리변인 및 교사의 수업행동의 수준을 구명하였고, 둘째, 특성화고 학생의 인구학적 특성에 따른 수업몰입 수준의 차이를 구명하였으며, 셋째, 특성화고 학생의 수업몰입과 학습심리변인의 관계를 구명하였고, 넷째, 특성화고 학생의 수업몰입과 교사 수업행동의 관계를 구명하였다. 학습심리변인은 학습효능감, 교과흥미도, 학습동기, 자기주도학습 준비도로 구성하였으며, 교사 수업행동은 교수행동과 대인행동으로 구성하였다.
연구의 모집단은 특성화고등학교 학생 전체이며, 표집은 비례층화표집방법을 적용하였다. 전국을 대도시, 중소도시, 농어촌으로 나누고, 농업계열, 공업계열, 상업계열 특성화 고등학교를 각 지역마다 2개교씩 무작위로 선정한 후, 특성화 고등학교 재학생의 재적 비율을 고려하여 무작위로 선정한 18개교 1, 2학년 학생 764명의 학생을 표집하였다.
자료수집을 위한 조사도구는 수업몰입, 학습효능감, 교과흥미도, 학습동기, 자기주도학습 준비도, 교수행동, 교사대인행동을 측정하는 도구 및 문항으로 구성된 질문지가 사용되었다. 예비조사와 본 조사를 통하여 측정도구의 신뢰도와 타당도가 확보되었다.
자료 수집은 2011년 11월 19일부터 29일까지 우편을 통해 이루어졌다. 총 764부의 질문지가 배부되었고, 그 중에서 709부가 회수되어 회수율은 92.8%였다. 그 중에서 178매는 무응답과 불성실 응답 등의 이유로 제외되고, 최종 분석에는 531부가 사용되었다(유효응답률 69.5%). 자료분석은 Windows SPSS 12.0과 통계 프로그램을 사용하여, 빈도, 평균, 표준편차, t-검정, F-검정, 상관분석과 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다.
이 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 특성화고 학생들의 수업몰입 수준은 보통정도였다. 즉 수업시간에 주의가 산만하거나 수업으로부터 심리적으로 이탈된 학생들이 많은 상황으로, 학생들의 수업에 대한 집중도나 헌신도가 높지 않은 상태이다. 학습심리변인에 해당하는 학습효능감 3.40, 교과흥미도 3.14, 학습동기 2.93, 자기주도학습 준비도 3.36으로 보통 수준이었다. 한편, 교사의 교수행동은 보통 평균보다 높았으며, 대인주도성과 대인접근성 수준은 이론적 평균 정도였다.
둘째, 수업몰입 수준은 여학생이 남학생보다, 2학년이 1학년보다 통계적으로 유의미하게 높았다. 학교 계열별로는 상업계열 학생의 수업몰입도가 공업계열 학생보다 높았다.
셋째, 학생의 수업몰입은 학습효능감, 교과흥미도, 학습동기, 자기주도학습 준비도와 중간이상의 상관을 나타내거나 높은 상관을 나타내었다. 교사 수업행동 중 교수행동과 대인접근성은 수업몰입과 중간이상의 상관이 있었지만, 대인주도성은 매우 낮은 상관을 나타내었다.
넷째, 수업몰입에 대하여 학습심리변인의 설명력이 교사의 수업행동의 설명력보다 컸다. 수업몰입에 대한 영향력은 학습심리변인이 58.0%, 교사 수업행동이 3.3%를 설명하고 있었다. 수업몰입의 하위영역인 행동몰입에 대한 설명력은 학습심리변인이 39.7%, 교사 수업행동이 4.2%를 설명하였고, 인지몰입에 대한 설명력은 학습심리변인이 49.5%, 교사 수업행동이 1.7%를 설명하였으며, 감정몰입에 대한 설명력은 학습심리변인이 54.7%, 교사 수업행동이 3.2%를 설명하고 있었다.
이 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 특성화고 다수의 학생들이 전문교과 수업시간에 주의가 산만한 상태로 있거나, 수업으로부터 이탈하고 있어 수업에 대한 몰입 수준이 낮은 편이다. 둘째, 특성화고 남학생이 여학생보다, 1학년 학생이 2학년 학생보다, 공업계열 학생이 상업계열 학생보다 수업몰입 수준이 낮은 학생들이 많다. 셋째, 학생의 수업몰입과 학습효능감, 교과흥미도, 학습동기, 자기주도학습 준비도, 교사 교수행동과 각각 높은 상관을 나타내었다. 그런데 교사의 수업행동 중 대인접근성은 수업몰입과 중간 상관을 나타내었지만 대인주도성은 수업몰입과 낮은 상관을 나타내었다. 넷째, 학생의 수업몰입은 교사의 수업행동보다 학생의 학습심리변인들에 더 큰 영향을 받는다.
이 연구의 결과를 토대로 다음과 같은 사항이 제언되었다. 첫째, 학생들이 전문교과 수업 시간에 몰입하지 못하고 이탈되는 이유를 심층적으로 구명할 필요가 있다. 전문교과는 학생의 장래에 매우 중요하고, 수업몰입은 성공적인 학교생활의 지표이다. 둘째, 감정몰입과 학습효능감의 관계와 행동몰입과 교과흥미도의 관계에 대한 새로운 방법의 연구가 필요하다. 학습효능감은 감정몰입에 대한 설명력이 없었고, 교과흥미도는 행동몰입에 대한 설명력이 없었다. 셋째, 수업몰입에 대한 교사 수업행동의 설명력이 낮은 이유를 구명할 필요가 있다. 교수행동은 수업몰입과 정적인 상관이 있었지만 설명력이 매우 낮았다. 넷째, 수업몰입의 중요성을 교사들이 인식하게 하고 수업몰입을 증진시키기 위한 다각적인 전략의 개발과 확산이 필요하다. 다섯째, 학생들의 학업 성취도와 같은 수업결과와 함께, 수업몰입과 같은 수업과정에 대한 관심을 갖도록 하는 정책적 배려가 필요하다. 수업몰입은 학업성취의 예언변인이자 학생들의 학교생활의 성공을 측정하는 지표이다.
