아버지의 역할수행과 청소년의 자기효능감 간의 관계에 미치는 의사소통과 사회적 지지의 매개효과

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구의 목적은 의사소통과 사회적 지지라는 두 변인이 아버지 역할수행과 자기효능감 간의 관계에 미치는 매개효과와 그것의 성차를 확인하는 것이다. 이 연구에서는 선행연구의 분석결과 부분매개효과 완전매개효과의 두 가지를 제안하고, 그 적합성을 확인하였다. 이를 위해 남·녀 고등학생 237명과 312명에게 아버지의 역할수행척도, 의사소통척도와 사회적 지지척도, 자기효능감 척도로 구성된 설문지를 실시하였다. 자료 분석을 위해 SPSS 18.0, AMOS 7.0, Sobel 검증을 활용하여 구조분석을 실시하였다.
연구 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 아버지의 역할수행과 자기효능감 간의 관계에서 의사소통과 사회적 지지의 영향을 설명하기 위한 구조모형 분석결과 부분매개모형보다는 완전매개모형이 더 적합하였다. 이것은 아버지의 역할수행이 자녀의 자기효능감에 미치는 영향은 의사소통, 사회적 지지를 매개로 하여 변화함을 의미한다.
둘째, 의사소통과 사회적 지지에 대해 아버지 역할수행의 직접효과가 정적으로 유의미하였다. 이것은 긍정적인 아버지 역할수행을 더 많이 했다고 지각하는 학생들일수록 아버지와 대화를 긍정적이고 사회적 지지를 많이 받는다고 지각함을 의미한다. 자기효능감에 대해 아버지의 의사소통과 사회적 지지 모두 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 사회적 지지를 많이 받는 학생들일수록, 아버지와 의사소통이 원활한 학생들일수록 자기효능감이 더 높음을 의미한다.
셋째, 아버지의 역할수행은 의사소통과 사회적 지지를 매개로 하여 자기효능감에 영향을 주었다. 이것은 청소년이 지각한 아버지의 역할수행이 의사소통과 사회적 지지를 통해 자기효능감에 간접적인 영향을 미친다는 결과이다.
넷째, 아버지 의사소통이 자기효능감으로 영향을 미치는 방향은 남학생 집단만 유의하였다. 즉, 남학생들의 경우에는 아버지와 의사소통이 더 원활할수록 자기효능감이 높았지만, 여학생의 경우에는 관련이 없었다. 또한 사회적 지지가 자기효능감으로 영향을 미치는 방향은 남학생 여학생 두 집단 모두 유의하였다. 한편 아버지 역할수행이 아버지 의사소통으로 영향을 미치는 방향은 남학생 여학생 두 집단 모두 유의미하였다. 아버지의 역할수행이 사회적 지지로 영향을 미치는 방향은 남학생 여학생 두 집단 모두 유의미하였다.
다섯째, 남·녀 다집단 분석에서, 완전매개모형에 포함된 네 개의 경로 각각은 남·녀집단에 따라 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 그러나 의사소통에서 자기효능감에 이르는 경로는 남자 집단에서 유의하고, 여자집단에서는 유의하지 않아 의사소통을 매개한 효과는 남·녀에 따라서 다르게 해석되고 적용되어야 할 것으로 보인다.
이 연구의 가장 큰 의의는 청소년의 자기효능감과 관련변인들의 구조적인 관계를 이전 연구들과는 달리 다양한 변인들을 통하여 알아본 것이다. 기존 연구는 아버지 역할수행과 자기효능감, 의사소통과 자기효능감, 사회적 지지와 자기효능감 등 두 변인간의 관계만 다루어져 아버지의 역할수행이 왜 자기효능감에 효과를 갖는지를 설명하기 어려웠다. 그러나 본 연구는 아버지의 역할수행이 의사소통과 사회적 지지로 지각됨으로써 자기효능감에 관계를 갖는다는 것을 보여주었다. 또한 성별에 따른 연구모형의 차이를 규명하여 남녀 간에 차이가 있다는 결과를 얻었다는데 의의가 있다. 아버지 역할수행에서 의사소통으로 가는 경로가 남·녀 집단 간에 유의한 차이가 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to find out the mediating effects of communication and social support as two variables on the relationships between father's role practice and self-efficacy of adolescents and to identify how different the mediating effects are as gender difference. It suggested the partial mediating effects and the complete mediating effects as analyzing precedent research and confirmed the suitability of the two mediating effects. To verify this study, Questionnaires, which contained father's role practice measure, communication measure, social support measure and self-efficacy measure, were carried out among high school students, 237 male and 312 female. Structural analysis was employed to analyze questionnaire by using SPSS 18.0, AMOS 7.0, Sobel test.
The results are as follows.
First, the complete mediation model was more appropriate to explain the mediating effects of communication and social support on the relationship between father's role practice and the self-efficacy than the partial mediation model as a result of analysis of the structural model. This means the effects of father's role practice on the self-efficacy depend on communication and social support.
Secondly, the direct effects of father's role practice on communication and social support were meaningful. This means students, who think their fathers did positive father's role practice, perceived that conversation with their fathers was positive and they had more social support. Communication with father and social support affect the self-efficacy positively. Namely, it signifies that the more social support students get, the more frequent students communicate with their fathers, the higher self-efficacy they had.
Thirdly, father's role practice affect the self-efficacy mediated by communication and social support. This showed that father's role practice that adolescents perceived, has indirect effect on the self-efficacy by communication and social support.
Fourthly, the effects of communication with fathers were meaningful only in the male student group. That is, male students had higher self-efficacy when they communicate with their fathers smoothly, female students had nothing to do. And social support had effect on the self-efficacy in the both groups. On the other hand, communication with fathers was affected by father's role practice in the both groups. And father's role practice influenced communication with fathers more in the group of female students than the male students. The effects of father's role practice on social support was meaningful in the both groups.
Fifthly, no significant differences were found in 4 path, which were included in the complete mediation model respectively, in multi group analysis of male and female. However the path from communication to the self-efficacy was meaningful in the male group, not in the female group. Therefore the effects mediated by communication should differently be interpreted and applied to male and female.
This study has its own meaning, compared to the precedent research, in the way that it verified the structural relation between related variables and the self-efficacy of adolescents. The precedent research explored only the relation of two variables such as father's role practice and the self-efficacy, communication and the self-efficacy, and social support and the self-efficacy. This made it difficult to explain why father's role practice had effect on the self-efficacy. This study, however, verified that father's role practice had something to do with the self-efficacy as it was perceived as communication and social support. Moreover, it demonstrated the gender differences by research models. The path from father's role practice to communication and the path from communication to the self-efficacy appeared differently by gender difference.
