        울금(鬱金)에서 분리된 demethoxycurcumin이 백서의 혈관재협착에 미치는 효과

        The pathobiologic process of arterial stenosis following balloon angioplasty continues to be an enigmatic problem in clinical settings. This study investigates the ability of demethoxycurcumin, a curcuminoid isolated from Radix Curcumae, to attenuate balloon injury-induced neointima(NI) formation in the rat carotid artery. It was found that demethoxycurcumin induced inducible heme oxygenase(HO-1) expression and inhibited dose-dependently cellular proliferation in rat vascular smooth muscle cells. Perivascular application of demethoxycurcumin immediately following injury significantly reduced NI area and NI thickness 2 weeks post-injury. Interestingly, treatment with tin-protoporphyrin IX, a HO inhibitor, reversed the effects of demethoxycurcumin on NI formation. These results implicate demethoxycurcumin as a potent new therapeutic agent that is capable of reducing post-angioplasty arterial stenosis through induction of the HO-1 expression.

        The pattern parctice is a technique commonly used in language teaching for practicing sentence patterns in a language. based on guided practice, and the use of this technique is a distinctive feature of the audiolingual method, Various kinds of pattern practice have been used : repetition, inflection, expansion, transformation, etc . Recently, this technique has been called into question. We analize the problems of the traditional pattern practice and suggest the new techniques for the improvement of the students' communicative competence. Three possible ways of making pattern practice more meaningful and more communicative have been discussed : (1) getting students to say things about themselves, (2) giving situation which imply the structure, (3) letting students add something of their own.

      • HeLa세포 허족의 액틴 미세섬유에 대한 면역 형광현미경적 연구

        Actin cytoskeletons of HeLa cell-pseudopodia are observed in confocal laser scanning microscopic field after the treatment with monoclonal anti-actin and anti mouse IgG-FITC. The cytoskeletons are then compared with the control group stained with coomassie blue. The network of actin microfilaments in lamellae and meshwork in leading edge can be observed while stress fiber are observed on ventral surface of the cells which are intimately associated with substrate. The meshworks are fine microfilaments embedded in peripheral pale cytoplasm of the pseudopodium, the networks are composed of rather thick cross linked actin microfilaments in the lamellae in the middle cytoplasm. The thicker stress fibers are often adhered to the inside of ventral undulating cell membrane at the peripheral psuedopodium. These actin filaments are conserved especially in microwave field(microwave fixator KC600A). The features of the microfilaments and suggested functions are discussed.

      • 토끼 정세포의 Manchette α-Tubulin과 항 생쥐 IgG-금 입자(10mm)의 면역 반응

        The spermatids of rabbit are investigated to identify α-tubulin of axoneme microtubules using mouse monoclonal anti-α-tubulin as the first antibody(Ab) and gold(10nm) conjugated goat anti-mouse IgG as the Ad marker. The Ag-Ab reaction analyzed the localization of α-tubulin and the gold particles incorporated with the proximal and distal centrioles, manchette microtubules and flagellum. However, much more gold particles are incorporated with the spermatid nucleus rather than flagellum and centrioles, especially at the near of vacuoles or ring of spermatid nucleus. This was unexpected because it is already well known that the α-tubulin is one of quantitative dimeric substance of flagellum. The results reveal immunologically the α-tubulin is one of composition of manchette microtubules, which are involved in nuclear morphogenesis in rabbit spermatid. The spermatids at the stage are at a final morphogenic stage with a long conical form of nucleus(500×5000nm). The relation of length to width of nuclear proximal base is about 10 : 1 and acrosome is already formed. The less incorporation of gold particles in number to the flagellum is char-acteristic and discussed.

      • U.unicinctus 웅성(雄性) 배아세포(胚芽細胞)의 체세포적 기원과 Diffuse 정자 완성과정

        The cellular components of U. unicinctus coelomic fluid are prepared to study seasonal differentiation of the cells and examined on electron microscope. Under various types of cells, coelomic sperm ball(CSB) have been observed. CSBs are composed of a somatic cell and innumerable spermatids along the somatic cell membrane. The somatic cell membranes are enlarged to form membranous structures which are resemble with exocytotic vesicles. In the vesicle, spermatids nucleus, acrosome, proximal and distal centrioles and not yet fully elongated flagellum have been identified. It seems likely that the spermatids are produced from the somatic cell which secretes the vesicular contents through a process exactly resemble with exocytosis of a secretory cell. It was observed that the organelles as well as the germ nucleus are also supplied from the somaic cell of CSB, which mean the unit of male germ cell production is the somatic cell. There are numerous CSBs floating in the coelomic fluid of U. unicinctus, and it was a conclusion in this work that U. unicinctus performs a diffuse spermatogenesis. The observed origin of male germ cell in U. unicinctus can be compared with the theories on the origin of germ cells, somatic cell origin vs germ plasm origin. In U. unicinctus, spermatic are arises from the somatic cell. The somatic cell engaged itself to produce many male germ cells, and can not be differentiated itself into a male germ cell. Thus, on the origin of germ cell, the conceptual and structural differences between the previous theory of somatic origin of germ cell and CSBs are reported and discussed in consideration of origin of male germ cells in U. unicinctus.       • 색과 향의 첨가에 따른 콩나물의 기호도 조사

        Preferences on the change of color and aroma of soybean sprout was surveyed. Negative response of 'bad' or 'very bad' on pink (72%), red (60%), and green (44%) coloring was obtained. However, yellow coloring showed about 55% of positive response of 'good' or 'very good'. Thus yellow is the only color which received highly positive response among altered-color soybean sprouts. Significantly different result was observed when various aroma was added to soybean sprout. 80% of peanut scent-added soybean sprout and 76% of melon scent-added soybean sprout received positive response of 'good' or 'very good' while only 20% of the reponse was negative. In conclusion, altering color to yellow and addition of peanut scent or melon scent could increase the general preference of soybean sprout.

      • 견인용 동기전동기의 시동 및 운전특성 해석에 관한 연구

        It needs a large capacity of equipments to test the starting performance of middle and large synchronous motors in a factory. This paper propose a new method which is the combination of single phase AC applied test and usual routine test with a small synchronous test machine and testing equipments. We can obtain the results from these proposed tests as follows ; (1) The starting performance and stabilized operation at variable speed is predicted from this results. (2) The armature winding leakage reactance is resulted from the no-load saturation curve, the short-circuit charactristic curve and the armature-reaction magnetomotive force converted to the field current. (3) This test must be performed twice, one for short-circuiting the field winding, the other for joining a resistance between the field terminals, as a result the unknown constants in equivalent circuits are identified. (4) Inverter-fed three phase voltage with variable frequency is applied to armature terminals, as a result, We show the actual armature leakage reactance and reaction of the induced harmonic voltages from rotor.

        韓國産 楡 (느릅나무)科 植物에 關한 本草學的 硏究

        For the purpose of developing Korean Herbalogy with the plants of ulmaceae which grow wild and is planted in Korea, the thesa and weitings on herbalogy, from literature of successive generations, haye been thoroughly investigative and the results obtained were as follows: 1. There were totaled td 5 genera and 33 species in Korea and among them medicinal plants are 4 genera, 30 species, some 91% in total, but the number of species may be added because of the similiar. 2. According to the oriental names which can be used for medical purpose, the medicinal plants belonging to the ulnaceae family wear classified as Cortex22, Folium15, Lignum15, Fruit2, Floral. Thus it was noticed that the cortex was main kind. 3. According to sum of 33 species in Ulmaceae family, they wear classified into Aphamanthe genera 1, celtis genera 15, Ulmus genera 13, Zelkowa genera 3,hemiptelia genera lect. Thus it noticed that Celtis genera was the main kind, some 45% in total. 4. According to nature and flavour of medicinal plants, they were calssifed into cold and cool, 6, balance 6, warmth and teat; 1, and unidentified 4. Thus it was noticed that cold, cool and balanceis the main in nature and flavour of medicinal plants. 5. In vicw of their efficacy and allouing for duplicate nomenclature, they can be classified into 5 heat - clearing and detoxifying harbs, 10 promote diuresis to reduce edema herbs, 3 drugs for red-ucing sputum and cough, 6 drugs for safeting embryo fetus and 2 in secticdes heabs. 6. Surveying to whold medicinal plant 30 kinds, toxic drugs include none. from this result, It was revealed that the plants for medical purpose in ulmaceae was 91% kinds of the whold, incortex was abundunt, toxic plants were so none that it will be used for clinical treatments more easily. It is considered that clinical experiments and approaches should be continued to use ulmaceae plants widely.

        Temozolomide Salvage Chemotherapy for Recurrent Anaplastic Oligodendroglioma and Oligo-Astrocytoma

        Objective : To evaluate the efficacy of temozolomide (TMZ) chemotherapy for recurrent anaplastic oligodendroglioma (AO) and anaplastic oligoastrocytoma (AOA). Methods : A multi-center retrospective trial enrolled seventy-two patients with histologically proven AO/AOA who underwent TMZ chemotherapy for their recurrent tumors from 2006 to 2010. TMZ was administered orally (150 to 200 $mg/m^2/day$) for 5 days per 28 days until unacceptable toxicity occurred or tumor progression was observed. Results : TMZ chemotherapy cycles administered was median 5.3 (range, 1-41). The objective response rate was 24% including 8 cases (11%) of complete response and another 23 patients (32%) were remained as stable disease. Severe side effects (${\geq}$grade 3) occurred only in 9 patients (13%). Progression-free survival (PFS) of all patients was a median 8.0 months (95% confidence interval, 6.0-10.0). The time to recurrence of a year or after was a favorable prognostic factor for PFS (p<0.05). Overall survival (OS) was apparently differed by the patient's histology, as AOA patients survived a median OS of 18.0 months while AO patients did not reach median OS at median follow-up of 11.5 months (range 2.7-65 months). Good performance status of Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group 0 and 1 showed prolonged OS (p<0.01). Conclusion : For recurrent AO/AOA after surgery followed by radiation therapy, TMZ could be recommended as a salvage therapy at the estimated efficacy equal to procarbazine, lomustine, and vincristine (PCV) chemotherapy at first relapse. For patients previously treated with PCV, TMZ is a favorable therapeutic option as 2nd line salvage chemotherapy with an acceptable toxicity rate.
