The Anti-cancer Effect of Oriental Medicine Chung-Ri-Ja-Gam-Tang in the Mouse with Metastatic Lung Cancer. Proceedings of International Symposium on East-West Medicine, Seoul. 231-243, 1999.-The oriental medicine Chung-Ri-Ja-Gam-Tang is an herbal medicine which has been used for pulmonary diseases and known as having immune stimulatory effects. It has been known effective in lung cancer. So we studied the effects and the mechanisms of this herbal medicine it the mouse with metastatic lung cancer. The metastatic lung cancer of the mouse was produced with melnoma cell line(B16BL/6).5×10□/mouse tumor cells were injected intravenously to the CDF1 mouse via tail vein. The mice were divided 4 groups. The first group was treated with 50mg/kg extract of Chung-Ri-Ja-Gam-Tang per oral for 10 days after cancer cell injection, second group treated with saline after cancer cell injection, the third group with medicine without cancer cell, and the last group with saline only. After 10 days treatments some of the mice were scarificed and the lung and spleen was removed. The survival duration, weight change, the number of metastatic cancer nodule of the lung, the NK cell activity, the capacity of cytokines(INF-γ,INF-α,IL-2) production and the proliferation activities of mouse lymphocytes were measured. The surival times of the group 1 mice were longer and the weight loss was less than the group 2 significantly. The number of the metastatic nodule of the lung were decresed in the group 1 than the group 2. The production of INF-γ,was increase in group 2 than group 3 and 4, IL-2 production was increased in group 1 than group 2,3,4 significantly. There was no difference in TNF- α production and proliferation activity of lymphocyte in each group. The NK cell activity was significantly increased in group 1 than group 2,3,4. We conclude that the Chung-Ri-Ja-Gam-Tang has the effect of increasing the NK cell activity of the CDF1 mouse with metastatic lung cancer(B16BL/6). And it is suggested that the increased production of the IL-2 is the mechanisms of enhanced NK cell activity.

        임신 중 체중증가 정도에 따른 체성분 비교연구

        Objectives: To compare the body composition of the postpartal female weight-gained over the recommended during pregnancy with that of normal female with same age, female diagnosed as obesity and postpartal female weight-gained within the recommended during pregnancy. Methods: From Apr. 1. 2001 to Feb. 28. 2002, there were 745 delivery in Dept. of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Kyung-Hee Medical Center. 32 mothers of them wanted to be investigated about the weight gain during their pregnancy. We excluded 12 persons who had gained within the recommended weight(15㎏) and had diagnosed as the diseases inducing pathologic edema, preeclamsia, gestational heart or renal diseases, for example. In 2 days after delivery(nomal) or 5 days after(Caesarean section) we analysed the body composition of 20 persons. Results: 1. Compared with normal female, body weight, body mass index and body fat of the women gained over the recommended were increased and there made alternation to the increase of the percentage of body fat or the decrease of the percentage of lean body mass. 2. Compared with obese women who had same body mass index, the women gained over the recommended showed a little increase of body fluid, protein and mineral, but had a little decrease of the percentage of body fat. 3. The percentages of body fat increased with the women gained over the recommended, the women gained within the recommended and the obese women in order. This could imply the relation between the pregnancy, weight gain during pregnancy and the obesity. 4. The weights before pregnancy were same in the women gained over the recommended and the women gained within the recommended. But the weights just after delivery kept the gap happened during pregnancy between them and its main cause was the increase of body fat.

        구내용 분광광도계를 이용한 자연치의 색상분석

        The recognition of the esthetics as well as their function of the teeth in the dental field is growing. Evaluating the esthetics of a tooth concerns shape, texture, and color. And among these, color has been the most difficult element to make natural expression. Color is a very subjective element affected by many different factor like light source, object, observer. Numerous efforts to quantifying color has been made. Currently the use of colorimeter and spectrophotometercolor that the color measuring device has been suggested. In this study, the normal range of the tooth color in canines, lateral incisors and central incisors for Koreans was evaluated with a modified spectrophotometer for intraoral use. The color differences in terms of teeth positions, age and area within the tooth was evaluated and comparatively analyzed. Results were as follow ; 1. In all age groups, the central incisors are most bright and least yellowish opposit to the canines are most dark and yellowish. The central incisors and lateral incisors showed the similar color patterns. 2. In the comparison between gender, it showed that in the 10's group male have more yellowish, the 20's female have lighter and more redness, the 30's indicated more redness in female and in the 40's the lightness is more in female. 3. With aging, there was no significant change in L^* and a^* coordinates but a shift was in b^* to yellowish in the 30's and 40's in central incisors. Lateral incisors and canines showed a lighter and more yellowish tooth color with an irregular change of color coordinate in a^*. 4. In all teeth the middle and cervical portion showed close correlation with over 0.7(0.05>p) but color (a^*, b^*) showed higher correlation than lightness(L^*). 5. It has been shown that through the regression test the cervical color could be calculated by the middle color value.

        The author present a modified multi-loop algorithm including feedforward for controlling a 55kW step down chopper in the power supply of Maglev. The control law for the duty cycle consists of three terms. The first is the feedforward term which compensates for variations in the input voltage. The second term consists of the difference between the slowly moving inductor current and output current. The third term consists of proportional and integral terms involving the perturbation in the output voltage. This perturvation is derived by subtracting the desired output voltage from the actual output voltage. The proportional and integral action stabilizes the system and minimizes output voltage error. In order to verify the validity of the proposed multi-loop controller, simulation study was tried using Matlab simulink.

        Occupancy of the T-cell receptor (TCR) by antigen in association with class Ⅱ MHC molecule is required for the initiation of T cell activation. However TCR stimulation is not a sufficient signal to account for all the observed events that occur during T cell activation. And in the absence of a second costimulatory signal provided by abtigen presenting cell antigen specific signal may lead to clonal inactivation or energy. CD28, a T cell surface molecule first defined by monoclonal antibody 9.3 on human cells, appears to function as an alternative, TCR/CD3-independent, activation pathway for T cell. This molecule provides costimulatory signal for T cell proliferation by increasing a number of lymphokines and cytokines production. A T cell activation antigen CTLA-4 is homologous to CD28 with 28% amino acid and 67% of nucleic acid homology in the protein coding region. CTLA-4 was ofiginally identified by the differential screening follosing subtractive hybridization of murine cytotoxic T cell cDNA library and mapped to the same lacation on chromosome 2 in human and chromosome 1 in mouse as CD28. These findings and activation associated expression pattern of CTLA-4 raise question about functional role of this molecule in T cell activation. In this study human CTLA-4 cDNA was amplified from phytohemagglutinin (PHA)-stimulated human peropheral blood lymphocytes mRNA by using reverse transcription-ploymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method. And amplified human CTLA-4 cDNA was subsequently cloned into pRC/CMV vector. In double stranded DNA sequencing the 331st base of protein coding region was changed from guanylic acid of human CTLA-4 from alanine to threonine. Murind L cell transfected with this clone expressed 36kD protein. It appears that this dirrerence of molecular weight between native (34kD) and recombinant (36kD) human CTLA-4 molecule may due to glycosylation differences. The cDNA and murine CTLA-4 molecule may due to glycosylation differences. The cDNA and murine L cell lines expressing human CTLA-4 developed by this study would contribute in future work unveiling the biological rile of CTLA-4 in T cell activation.

        레니텍^(�) 정(말레인산 에날라프릴, 10mg)에 대한 에나레이스 정의 생물학적 동등성

        The purpose of present study was to evaluate the bioequivalence of two enalapril maleate tablets, Renitec^(™) (MSD Korea Ltd.) and Enalace ^(™) (Welfide Korea Ltd.), according to the guidelines of Korea Food Drug Administration (KFDA). Twenty-four normal male volunteers, 22.33±2.55 year in age and 66.54±8.30 ㎏ in body weight, were divided into two groups and a randomized 2×2 cross-over study was employed. After two tablets containint 10 ㎎ of enal-april maleate per tablet wre orally administered, blood was taken at predetermined time intervals and concentrations of enalapril in plasma were determined using LC-MS-MS. Pharmacokinetic parameters such as AUC_(t), C_(max) and T_(max) were calculated and ANOVA test was utilized for the statistical analysis of the parameters using logarithmically transformed AUC_(t) and C_(max) untransformed T_(max). There were no sequence effects between two formulations in these parameters. The 90% confidence intervals for the log transfored data were acceptance range of log0.8 to log1.25(e.g., log1.02∼log1.14 and log1.03∼log1.19 for AUC_(t) and C_(max), respectively). The major parameters, AUC_(t) and C_(max), met the criteria of KDFA for bioequivalence indicating that Enalace^(™) tablet is bioequivalent to Renitec^(™) tablet.

      • WIND ENERGY POTENTIAL ASSESMENT and SITING a WIND FARM in CHEJU ISLAND

        본 연구는 제주도내 풍력발전기 보급 및 적지선정을 검토하는데 그 목적을 두었다. 이를 위하여 제주도내 다풍지역으로 예상되는 3개지역을 선정하여 1년간 풍력자원조사를 행하였고, 계측된 자료는 통계분석으로 풍력자원을 정량화하였으며 또한 세계적으로 경제성이 인증된 600kW 풍력발전기를 모델로하여 가상 출력을 산출함으로서 최적 풍력단지를 제시하였다. The possibility in the practical use and supply of the wind turbine in Cheju island was investigated. The wind data measured in three regions which have a plenty wind energy potential were utilized to quantify the wind power resources by statistical analysis. Power output was calculated for 600 kW wind turbine. The coastal area of Guja was superior to Daejung and Hoichun in wind power energy densities. The calculated capacity factor of 600 kW wind turbine in this site was high as much as 30%. Hoichun site, the intermediate region between the Halla mountain and the sea, was rich in wind power energy resources in winter. Hourly ideal energy density at three regions increased at sunrise, reached the maximum at 13-16 O'clock, decreased steadily, and finally remained constant at sunset.
