        The various types of enzyme have been coupled to ion-selective electrodes for the development of enzyme membrane electrodes. The tissue and organ of animals and plants contained a lot of variant enzymes. A bioselsoective membrane electrode which employs slices of Wistar rat liver was studied that the effect of pH, kinds and concentration of buffer solution, temperature and thickness of slice in order to optimize electrode response. The longstability, the response time and slope of wistar rat tissue glutamine selective membrane electrode was evaluated.

      • Hematite의 還元速度에 미치는 Al₂O₃, CaO, SiO₂의 影響

        Reduction of hematite by H_2 and CO-CO_2 gas was performed at 800℃, 900℃, 1000℃ after the addition of Al_2O_3, CaO and SiO_2 as an impurity substances. The reduction rate was appeared maximum by CaO and minimum by Al_2O_3 addition, when their amounts were equal at any temperatures, and regardless of the kinds of foreign oxides, the effects on the reduction rate revealed maximum, when the amount was about 1.0wt%. The reduction rate by the mixed control rate equation was showed straight lines by adopting the values of De and Kr from those experimental data. As the results, effects on the reduction rate when hematite contains foreign oxides, such as Al_2O_3, CaO and SiO_2, at high temperature, it was controlled by chemical reaction, and at low temperature it was controlled by interparticle pore diffusion.

      • 酸化鐵의 CO/CO_2가스 還元速度에 미치는 不純物의 影響

        The quantitative reaction of pure hematite and CO/CO_2 (80/20) gas mixture was studied at 900℃. Impurities such as CaO, SiO_2, and Al_2O_3 were added respectively to observe their effect on reduction of hematite. The micro-structure of reduced phases was observed by optical microscope and S. E. M. to investigate the depth of each phase. The results revealed that the change of reduction rate of pure hematite and added impurities increased rapidly to 30% and 39-50% respectively in the initial stage and then the reduction rate decreased, because the formation of dense iron layers by sintering and recrystalization surrounded partial reduced wu¨stite reflics, and this hindered the reducing gas diffusion. The reduction rate which impurities were added always is increased than that of pure hematite, was the maximum at 1.2wt.% regardless of its kinds of impurities. Each promoters is increased the reaction rate by the role of active center when the reduction is proceeding. The increased of reduction rate was proportional to ionic radius (r) and ionic charge (ε) of added impurities.

        This study has been undertaken to clarify the decarburization phenomena of liquid chrome steel under reduced pressure. The study has been especially directed toward determining the rate-controlling steps of decarburization reaction. Chrome melts containing 0.20∼0.30% carbon decarburized by blowing the different oxygen potential gases such as CO_2, Ar-O_2 gas mixture and pure O_2 gas at 1620℃ under 100∼400 Torr and also the change of C, Cr and O contents was observed. The aspects of the mechanism of decarburization of molten chrome steel under the reduced atmosphere are summarized as follow; The decarburization by CO_2 blowing that is low oxygen potential, is controlled by the mass transfer in gas site. The decarburization by blowing Ar-O_2 gas mixture and O_2 are conceived to be carried on according to following reaction model. C+1/2O_2(g)→CO(g) xM+y/2O_2(g)→MxOy MxOy→xM+yO C+O→CO(g)

        To improve the standardization of enzyme membranes for FET-type biosensor, wafer-scale formation technique had been studied by using photo-sensitive polymers. Glucose Oxidase, the enzyme which decomposes the glucose, had been used for application of this method to glucose sensors. Thin standardized memebranes could be obtained by spin coating of the mixed solution, composed of PVA-SbQ polymer and glucose oxidase, followed by photolithographic techniques. The performance characteristics of the glucose sensor having this thin enzyme membrane had been investigated.

      • 복부대동맥류를 동반한 환자의 위아전절제술 마취경험

        Abdominal aortic aneurysms rarely occur with cancerous lesion but occasionally with gastrointestinal malignancy, and need absolute blood pressure control to prevent rupture. A 71 year old male who complained dizzness and hematochezia. He has been managed for hypertension, stable angina and abdominal aortic aneurysm which diagnosed 2months ago. He was diagnosed as advanced gastric adenocarcinoma and subtotal gastrectomy was performed. General anesthesia was scheduled and epidural catheterization was performed to controll intraand post operative pain and minimize hemodynamic change to prevent aneurysmal rupture 37.5mg of Ropivacaine was injected through epidural catheter before anesthesia and infusion of remifentanyl and propofol was performed during general anesthesia. The blood pressure was maintained between 95/50 and 145/95 and did not significantly increased. The general-epidural combined method was successfully performed and we are report this case with a brief review of the literature.

        정신지체 청소년을 대상으로 한 1마일 걷기 검사의 페이서 효과

        The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a pacer through comparing completion time and heart rate of adolescents with mental retardation(8 adolescents with mild mental retardation, 8 adolescents with moderate mental retardation, and 8 adolescents with Down syndrome) in performing a 1-mile walk test with and without a pacer. The subjects completed Rockport Fitness Walking Test(RFWT) at least 2 times with or without a pacer. SPSS(Version 10.0) was used to analyze the data The differences of performing time and heart rate between three groups with or without a pacer were analyzed by ANOVA The differences of completion time and heart rate of each group with or without a pacer were analyzed paired t-test(α=.05). It is recommended that, when having adolescents with mental retardation perform a walk test, a pacer should be indirectly used to predict cardiopulmonary endurance.

        A FET type micro urea sensor - very proper and promising shapes for in vivo, in situ measurements - had been examined on its compatibilities with clinical analysis. Investigations were performed on the interference of various amino acids, organic metabolites and waste products present in blood, which may cause interference with the sensor output. The results of the measurements of urea-nitrogen in blood plasma measurements was compared with those of conventional spectrophotometric method.

        During anesthesia, unexpectedly endotracheal tube obstruction cause seriouscomplications which require early diagnosis and immediate management. Endotracheal tube obstruction with foreign body is rare. 74 year old man was scheduled for open lung biopsy. The patient was intubated with a 7.5 mm reinforced endotracheal tube and turned to the right lateral position. After 30 minute, signs of partial endotracheal obstruction was observed including high airway pressure and decreased end-tidal CO2. A suction catheter was not deeply advanced. A wheezing - like sound was heard. We temporarily stopped the operation and turned the patient to supine. We exchanged the tube with another one and found impacted mucous secretions at the distal tip of the tube.

        톨루엔을 포함한 유기용제의 직업적 폭로로 인한 신경내분비계 영향

        Long term occupational exposure to solvent mixtures may cause adverse effects to the central nervous system with neurobehavioral symptoms. And some organic slovents have been suggested to cause impairment of tuberoinfundibular dopaminergic activity and neurochemical mechanisms controlling pituitary secretion. For the purpose of assessing neuroendocrine effects in occupational solvents exposure, hormonal study settings (shoes-manufacturing industry & fishing products industry) and compared with nonexposed controls(33 men, 85 women). Male workers exposed to solvent mixtures had significantly lower plasma level of follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH) than nonexposed male controls. While female workers exposed to solvent mixtures had significantly lower plasma levels of growth hormone(GH), and thyroid-stimulating hormone(TSH) than nonexposed female controls. The results of significant decrease in plasma concentrations of pituitary hormones(FSH, GH, and TSH) in workers exposed solvent mixtures indicate that occupational exposure to solvent mixtures may induce neuroendocrine effects through an effect on hypothalamic pituitary axis.
