      • Carotenoids 식이와 알코올이 혈액학적 성분과 간조직에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

        Alcohol is well known agent which can damage the human tissues such as liver via stimulating lipid peroxidation and storage, denaturation of macromolecules, and inhibiting protein metabolism. On the other hand, carotenoids in addition to vitamins A, C, E and lipoic acid, play important roles in protecting these oxidative damages as well as preventing the production of free radicals. This study was carried out to elucidate the precise effects of alcohol administration into rats on the antioxidative functions of dietary carotenoids and isolated β-carotene, and to find out any parameters to uncover more detailed biochemical mechanisms of these agents. For these purposes, two different approaches were performed: 1) examination of the changes in hematological parameters (e.g., total proteins, A/G ratio, ALT/AST et. al) and statistical correlations among inter- and intragroups, 2) examination of the histopathological changes by an electron microscope. The results were analyzed and summarized as following; (1) Carrot diet for one week caused a slight increase in albumin. A/G ratio and AST levels, and a slight decrease in ALT, ALP, BUN and uric acid levels. Two-week alcohol administration following carrot diet increased total proteins, albumin A/G ratio and BUN levels. However, both groups were shown to have little significant changes in cholesterol concentrations. (2) Cheese diet for one week caused a significant increase in total proteins, albumin, AST, ALP, uric acid and total cholesterol levels, and a significant decrease in A/G ratio and glucose concentrations. However, two-week β-carotene diet following cheese intake increased total proteins albumin, A/G ratio, BUN and total cholesterol levels, whereas AST, ALT, ALP and uric acid levels were decreased. (3) Alcohol administration for one week caused an increase in AST activities and a decrease in total proteins, albumin, ALT, ALP and BUN levels. A successive β-carotene diet following alcohol administration increased total proteins, albumin, ALT, ALP and BUN levels, whereas decreased AST and uric acid levels. However, there were not significant changes in A/G ratio, glucose and total cholesterol levels in both groups. (4) β-carotene diet for one week caused a slight increase in albumin, glucose, AST and uric acid levels, and a slight decrease in ALP and BUN levels. Two-weeks alcohol administration following β-carotene diet increased albumin, glucose, BUN and total cholesterol levels, whereas decreased AST, ALT, ALP and uric acid levels. (5) Although the pathological investigation on the liver did not reveal significant changes, cheese diet group (CH-BC/1-CH) was shown to have some lipid deposits. Some results were unexpected and different from typical hematological changes shown by other researchers. Nonetheless, these results strongly suggest that the liver damage or hepatism caused by alcohol intake affects many kinds of biochemical metabolisms, which results in significant changes in many hematological parameters. In addition, dietary carotenoid and isolated β-carotene were shown to have protective roles against the biochemical changes by alcohol intake.

        미디어 패러다임의 변화에 따른 서비스디자인 접점의 미디어 활용에 관한 연구: 트랜스미디어, 웹2.0, 웹3.0의 특성 중심으로

        기술의 발달로 인한 미디어 패러다임의 변화에 의해 사용자들의 라이프스타일과 커뮤니케이션 방식이 진화하고 있다. 사용자들은 다양한 서비스를 접할 때에 이러한 변화가 반영되기를 요구하고 있다. 이를 위해 사용자의 변화된 라이프스타일을 이해하고 니즈를 충족시키는 최적의 경험을 서비스와 사용자가 만나는 접촉점에서 이끌어 내는 것이 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구는 서비스디자인 접점(touchpoints)에 있어서 급변하는 미디어 상황과 사용자의 양상을 반영할 수 있는 미디어의 활용을 모색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 이론적 고찰을 통하여 미디어 패러다임의 변화 특성을 9가지의 요인으로 도출하였고 이를 성격적 특성으로 카테고리화하였다. 또한 접점으로써 활용 가능성이 높은 사례들을 수집하여 변화 특성을 중심으로 분석하였다. 분석한 결과, 접점의 미디어 활용에 있어 미디어의 ``기술적 특성``은 서비스의 목적에 따라 ``사용자의 행위``를 자극하고, 이러한 자극이 ``사용자의 경험``을 유도하는 것을 발견할 수 있었다. 또한 서비스디자인 접점에서의 미디어 활용은 사용자 경험 특성인 ``감각체험, 감성, 몰입`` 세 요소를 자극시켜 사용자의 서비스 경험을 긍정적으로 고취시키는 역할을 할 수 있다는 것을 발견하였다. 본 연구는 패러다임의 과도기적 현상을 보이는 현시대에 있어 서비스디자인 접점의 미디어 활용을 위해 필요한 변화 특성들을 제시함으로써 향후 접점에서 미디어 패러다임의 변화를 반영할 수 있는 기틀을 마련했다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 접점에 있어 패러다임의 변화 특성과 다양한 미디어 활용의 적절한 접목은 사용자의 욕구를 더욱 효과적·긍정적으로 충족시키고 총체적 경험을 실현시킬 수 있을 것으로 기대한다. Recently user`s lifestyle and way of communication have evolved according to the change of paradigm with development of technology, therefore the user claims these were reflected in the various services that they meet. To respond to the change, it is demanded to understand their changed lifestyle and satisfy their needs with a touchpoint between the service and users to give them perfect experience. Therefore this study seeks out rapidly changing trend and using of media that can reflect the aspects of users in a service design touchpoint. For this, this study establishes the characteristics of changes in media paradigm as nine factors and categorizes them into their traits. The more likely cases as a touchpoint are also collected and analyzed based on characteristics of their changes. As a result, technological traits of media stimulate users` behavior according to purpose of service and it can be founded that their experiences happen by this. Also, touchpoint of service design can make their experience positive by stimulating three factors of its traits-sense, experience, sensitivity, and flow. This study is meaningful that it paves the way for a reflection of media paradigm shift on future touchpoint by suggesting characteristics of changes that are needed to using of media in service design touchpoint. It is expected that a proper combination of characteristics of paradigm shift and utilization of various media to be more effective for users, satisfy their needs positively and realize their total experience.

      • Estimating the production and mortality of fine roots using minirhizotrons in a Pinus densiflora forest in Gwangneung, Korea

        <P>The aim of this study was to estimate fine root production (FP) and fine root mortality (FM) at 0-10, 10-20, and 20-30 cm soil depths using minirhizotrons in a 75-year-old Pinus densiflora Sieb. et Zucc. forest located in Gwangneung, Korea. We developed the conversion factors (frame cm(-2)) of three soil depths (0.158 for 0-10 cm, 0.120 for 10-20 cm, and 0.131 for 20-30 cm) based on soil coring and minirhizotron data. FP and FM were estimated using conversion factors from March 26, 2013 to March 2, 2014. The annual FP and FM values at the 0-30 cm soil depth were 3200.2 and 2271.5 kg ha(-1) yr(-1), respectively. The FP estimate accounted for approximately 17 % of the total net primary production at the study site. FP was highest in summer (July 31-September 26), and FM was highest in autumn (September 27-November 29). FP was positively correlated with seasonal change in soil temperature, while FM was not related to that change. The seasonality of FP and FM might be linked to above-ground photosynthetic activity. Both FP and FM at the 0-10 cm depth were significantly higher than at 10-20 and 20-30 cm depths, and this resulted from the decrease in nutrient availability with increasing soil depth. The minirhizotron approach and conversion factors developed in this study will enable fast and accurate estimation of the fine root dynamics in P. densiflora forest ecosystems.</P>

        According to economic development and changes in internal and external economic conditions, the energy consumption structure and consumption by energy source of our country are largely changing. Nevertheless, South Korea depends on imports for most of its energy, because natural energy resources are insufficient, and is very sensitive to energy-related issues. Recently, because the International Convention on Climate Change raised concern about diminishing fossil fuels and global warming, the importance of energy efficiency is increasing. To understand the energy input structure of the agricultural sector in order to prepare for efficient energy management plans, it is necessary to predict energy consumption by main items. For this, input-outpur analysis was conducted. It was found that our agriculture and forestry and fisheries industry consumed 3.79 million tons oil equivalent(toe) in 2007, and the agriculture sector is expanding; on the other hand, the livestock and forestry and fisheries sectors are generally shrinking. The agriculture sector remarkably uses energy for vegetables and flowering plants, and in the case of vegetables, consumption has increased by more than 9%, and even consumption of flowering plants has increased by more than 11% above the annual average. In addition, the energy input coefficient in the agriculture sector decreased by more than 30% compared with 1995, confirming that, in general, dependence on energy is being avoided. The agriculture sector is an industry dependent on energy as a result of the relatively large input coefficient in horticulture. Meanwhile, domestic new renewable energy use in our country is just 2.43% of total consumption of the first energy but has shown a tendency to swiftly increase the supply rate of new renewable energy since 2000; however, consumption in the agriculture sector is mainly oil related compared with other industries, and the consumption of new renewable energy is almost nothing. Nevertheless, the government established a goal of expanding the supply rate level of new renewable energy to 4.3% in 2015, 6.1% in 2020, and 11% in 2030, so the use of new renewable energy is expected to increase even in the agriculture sector in the future. Energy is the most important resource for the entire range of the national economy, and because of the effect of oil price increases, it has become a major interest of agriculture. Therefore, the government is preparing various policies for the efficient use of energy as well as energy saving. Accordingly, it is important to plan energy-related efficient policy by supplying basic data on energy policy establishment in the agriculture sector by analyzing the supply and demand status of clean energy in the agriculture sector along with the potential energy demand of the main agricultural and livestock products.

        약물 중독 시 위 세척에 의한 산 - 염기 평형 및 전해질의 변화

        N/A Objectives: There is little information on the imbalance of electrolyte and acid-base metabolism associated with gastric lavage in acute drug intoxication patients. This study was aimed to analyze the acid-base and electrolyte abnormalities associated with gastric lavage in acute drug intoxication patients. Methods: We studied 24 acute drug intoxication patients who had performed gastric lavage with 10 liters of 0.9% NaC1. Electrolyte parameters and arterial blood gas analysis were carried out before and after gastric lavage. Results: After gastric lavage, acidosis was reduced in general. But there was no significant change in pH (7.34±0.02 vs. 7.38±0.15, p=NS). In acid-base balance, the mixed form of metabolic acidosis and respiratory acidosis was reduced from 7 to 2 cases, and the simple form of respiratory acidosis was reduced from 3 to 1 case. In contrast, normal form was increased from 5 to 7 cases and the simple form of metabolic acidosis was increased from 2 to 6 cases. In electrolyte parameters, serum sodium was reduced significantly (145±1.0 mEq/L vs. 141±0.8 mEq/L, p<0.01), but there was no case of significant hyponatremia (<135mEq/L). Bicarbonate level (20±1.1 mEq/L vs. 22±0.9 mEq/L, p< 0.05) and anion gap (19±1.6 mB vs. 13±1.3 mEq/L, p< 0.01) showed significant change. But, blood levels of potassium (3.6±0.1 mEq/L vs. 3.8±0.1 mEq/L, p=NS), chloride (106±0.6 mEq/L vs. 106±0.6 mEq/L, p=NS) and F'aCO2 (36±1.mmHg vs. 37±1.5 mmHg, p=NS) were no significant change before and after gastric lavage. Conclusions: Gastric lavage with 10 liters of 0.9% NaC1 in acute drug intoxication patients did not show clinically significant changes in electrolytes and acid-base balance.

        지열시스템의 그라우트 및 수온변화가 미생물에 미치는 영향 실험

        Objective of this study was to examine the effects of grouts and temperature change on microorganisms in geothermal heat pump. Groundwater samples were obtained from wells in the heat pump system during installation (Oriental medicine hospital) and in the heat pump system under operation (Business incubation center). Grouts are the volclay sodium bentonite. Real-time PCR was used to evaluate total bacterial number and 16S rDNA. The results showed that total bacterial number of groundwater in the heat pump operation was greater than that of non-operation case, which indicates a temperature effect on the bacterial culture. In addition, high concentration of grout showed an elevated bacteria number. In the mean time, a long-term field monitoring is essentially required to confirm the effects of the grouts and the temperature changes. 본 논문은 지열시스템의 설치 시 사용되는 그라우트와 운영에 따른 수온변동이 유발할 수 있는 미생물학적 영향을 실내실험을 통해 살펴보았다. 시료는 지열히트펌프가 아직 가동되지 않는 관정(한방병원)과 지열 히트펌프가 가동 중인 곳(창업보육센터)에서 채취하였다. 실험에 사용한 그라우트는 볼클레이 벤토나이트로 나트륨(Na)계이며 Real-time PCR을 사용하여 각 시료에서 추출된 총 유전자 DNA 중 세균이 가지고 있는 16S rDNA를 정량함으로써 전체 세균의 양을 평가하였다. 실험 결과 지열히트펌프가 가동 중인 지하수에서 총 세균양이 가장 많았으며 벤토나이트를 주입하면서 세균수가 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 한편 그라우트 및 수온영향을 보다 명확하게 파악하기 위해서는 장기적인 현장모니터링이 요구된다.

      • Electro-hyperthermia up-regulates tumour suppressor Septin 4 to induce apoptotic cell death in hepatocellular carcinoma

        <P>Purpose: Modulated electro-hyperthermia (mEHT) has been shown to be effective against various types of human tumours, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Here we aimed to investigate the molecular mechanism underlying the cytotoxic effects of mEHT to HCC cells. Materials and methods: Human liver cancer cell lines, Huh7 and HepG2, were treated with mEHT (42 degrees C/60 min) three times at 2-day intervals. Growth inhibition and apoptotic induction were evaluated using MTS, microscopic analysis, a clonogenic assay, annexin V/PI staining and a ccK18 ELISA. Global changes in gene expression were examined using RNA sequencing to obtain insights into molecular changes in response to mEHT. For in vivo evaluation of mEHT we used HepG2 HCC xenografts grown in nude mice. Results: mEHT suppressed HCC cell proliferation and long-term colony formation through induction of apoptosis. The growth inhibitory effects are induced through a subset of molecular changes. Notably the expression level of septin 4 (SEPT4) (involved in pro-apoptotic activity and growth suppression) was up-regulated, whereas a key regulator of invasiveness G-Protein coupled receptor 64 (GPR64) was repressed. Subsequent Western blotting confirmed that the common increase in tumour suppressor SEPT4 in both Huh7 and HepG2 cells is accompanied by the restoration of cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) inhibitor p21 and decrease in pro-caspase 7 and pro-caspase 3, thereby accelerating apoptotic signalling in HCC cells. Additionally, mEHT significantly inhibited the growth of human HCC xenografts in nude mice. Conclusions: These findings suggest that apoptotic cell death induced by mEHT is mediated by the up-regulation of tumour suppressor SEPT4 in human HCC cells.</P>

        비선형 웹 이송 시스템의 장력제어

        This paper presents the study of the tension control in a web transfer system. In this study the sliding mode controller is applied to a time-varying nonlinear mathematical model. The model was derived to consider the effects of changing the roll rad;us in tension variation during winding and unwinding. The uncertainty in modeling may be due to unmodelled dynamics, on variations in system model. Designed sliding mode controller made the system error always staying in the suggested surface from the beginning. Through this, system is maintained to be robust against a disturbance and uncertainty. To verify the designed controller has a good performance, various inputs such as desired velocity, step input, and trapezoidal input are applied. When the sliding mode controller was used, the system(the tension control) performance was improved comparing to the PID controller. The robustness of the controller with respect to an estimation error was verified through simulations.

        This paper describes an intelligent cruise control system for automobile. With the remarkable numerical increase of automobiles on the road, the optmized traffic flow control using the cruise control is one of the very important traffic problems to overcome the limitation of an existing road capacity. Based on this idea that minimize the fuel cost and the air pollution, and accept a driver's need for driving, we have developed an intelligent cruise control system for vehicle. This proposed intelligent fuzzy cruise controller was successfully implemented using the fuzzy algorithm, the i80c196 μ-controller board and the throttle valve actuator. The field test results on an linear road was introduced.
