Objective: The antioxidant and anti-Alzheimer effects of Semen Ziziphi Spinosae (SZS) water extract against the amyloid beta peptide (1-42) or H202-induced oxidative damage and cell death were investigated in rat pheochromocytoma line PC 12. Methods: The cells were incubated with SZS water extract and oxidative damage-inducing materials, amyloid beta peptide (1-42) or H2O2 for 24 h. The cellular viability was assessed by WST-1 assay, cytotoxic damage by LDH activity assay, oxidative damages of cells by fluorescence spectrophotometric method, and apoptosis by TUNEL staining assay. Results and Conclusions: 1. Preincubation of the cells with SZS water extract prior to amyloid beta peptide (1-42) (2 uM) or H2O2 (30 uM) exposure elevated the cell survival close to the control and decreased the level of LDH activity and the fluorescence from the cell homogenates and TUNEL staining of the cells, compared to only amyloid beta peptide (1-42) (2 uM) or H2O2 (30 uM) treated conditions. 2. Our study suggests that Semen Ziziphi Spinosae (SZS) water extract has protective effects against amyloid beta peptide (1-42) or H2O2-induced cell toxicity through the antioxidation mechanism, which might be beneficial for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
레버 증폭 구조의 플렉서를 이용한 공초점 현미경의 개발

본 연구에서는 레버 증폭 구조를 이용한 플렉서 기반의 나노 스테이지를 설계, 제작하였다. 제작된 나노 스테이지를 샘플 스테이지로 채용한 공초점현미경을 개발하였다. 2차원 이미징의 구현을 위해서, 기존의 공초점현미경은 레이저를 이미징 평면상에 스캐닝하는 방식으로 구현된다. 본 연구에서는 백 나노미터의 구동정밀도를 가지는 나노 스테이지 위에 놓인 샘플을 2차원으로 스캐닝하면서 2차원 이미지를 구현할 수 있는 공초점현미경을 개발하였다. 플렉서 기반의 나노 스테이지는 이중 판스프링, 변위증폭 레버, PZT 엑추에이터 그리고 변위 센서로 구성 되어 있다. 스테이지의 구동 성능 해석을 위해 상용 유한요소 해석 프로그램을 이용하였다. 현미경에 사용되는 광원은 적색광 레이저이며, 레이저는 여러 광학요소를 거쳐 샘플스테이지의 샘플에 입사되고, 반사된 빛은 광센서인 PMT(Photo Multiplying Tube)로 계측되게 된다. 계측된 빛의 크기를 이용하여서 2차원 이미징을 구현하였다. 개발된 공초점 현미경으로 생쥐 귀의 피부조직을 관찰하여 현미경의 이미징 성능을 검증하였다. 설계된 샘플 스테이지는 기존의 공초점 현미경의 기계적인 Beam 스캐너를 대신함으로써 현미경의 광경로 및 전체시스템을 간소화 하였다. A confocal microscope was developed utilizing a scanning sample stage based on a home-built double-compound flexure guide. A scanning sample stage with nano-scale resolution consisted of a double leaf spring based flexure, a displacement amplifying lever, a Piezo-electric Transducer(PZT) actuator and capacitance sensors. The performance of the two-axis stage was analyzed using a commercial finite element method program prior to the implementation. A single line laser was employed as the light source along with the Photo Multiplier Tube(PMT) that served as the detector. The performance of the developed confocal microscope was evaluated with a mouse ear skin imaging test. The designed scanning stage enabled us to build the confocal microscope without the two optical scanning mirror modules that are essential in the conventional laser scanning confocal microscope. The elimination of the scanning mirror modules makes the optical design of the confocal microscope simpler and more compact than the conventional system.
퇴행성 경추질환에서 전방경유 추간판 절제술 및 골유합술의 결과분석

Objectives : We retrospectively studied the efficacy of anterior cervical discectomy and interbody fusion without plate fixation in degenerative cervical disease. Methods : Thirty two consecutive patients with degenerative cervical disease treated by decompression and interbody fusion(Smith-Robinson technique) without anterior cervical plating were studied for postoperative complication rate as well as the clinical and radiologic outcomes and were compared the result of ours with other reported series where the anterior cervical plating was used. Results : All cases were reviewed after average period of 13 months for the purpose of this study. There were 4 postoperative complications related to grafting. A solid fusion was obtained in all cases with single-level fusion(n=21) and 81.8 % of the cases with a two-level fusion(n=11). The overall fusion rate was 93.8 % and fusion rate per level fused was 95.3%. The clinical outcome of the patients was comparable with that in the literature, with one patient having a poor result. Comparing the result of this study with others of the anterior cervical plating, clinical outcome and fusion rate were not superior in plate fixation group in single-level fusion, but increased fusion rate and decreased graft-related complication rate were noted in multilevel fusion with plate fixation. However, the clinical outcome was not superior to noninstrumented fusion group of this study. Conclusion : These results demonstrate that anterior cervical discectomy and interbody fusion(Smith-Robinson technique) without instrumentation is safe and reliable method of single-level fusion in degenerative cervical disease. Plate fixation system doesn't seem necessary in single level fusion in degenerative cervical disease.

XML 문서에 대한 포함질의는 XML의 핵심 질의 중의 하나이다. 따라서, XML 데이터를 지원하는 DBMS에서 이런 유형의 질의를 효과적으로 처리하는 것은 매우 중요한 문제이다. 최근 들어, 객체관계형 DBMS에 XML 데이터를 저장하려는 많은 노력들이 시도되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 객체관계형 DBMS에 BLOB 형태로 저장된 XML 데이터를 대상으로 포함질의를 효과적으로 처리하기 위한 확장형 인덱스를 제시한다. 즉, 객체관계형 DBMS의 확장성을 이용해서 포함질의 처리를 위한 효과적으로 처리하는 확장형 인덱스의 구현과 이 인덱스의 사용 방법을 기술한다. Containment queries for XML documents is one of the most important query types, and thus the efficient support for this type of query is crucial for XML databases. Recently, object-relational database management system (ORDBMS) vendors try to store and retrieve XML data in their products. In this paper, we propose an extensible index to support containment queries over the XML data stored as BLOB type in ORDBMSs. That is, we describe how to implement the index using the extensibility feature of an ORDBMS, and describe its usage.
A Development of a Software Tool for Automatic SCF Design

A software tool implementing cascaded SCF (Switched Capacitor Filter) is developed. A comprehensive procedure is described for the design of cascaded SCF, and some design considerations are discussed. In program several user-selectable filter approximation techniques, and two optimising methods which reduce the total capacitance are included. Analysis of the partial positive feedback and the effect of clock frequency to total capacitance are presented in detail. Two pratical examples are given to prove its validity in reducing the total capacitance. Developed tool can be used for general SCF generator.
