Objective: The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the level of exposure to volatile organic compounds for different kinds of households in apartments or houses and analyze the relation between atopy-related symptoms and concentration of volatile organic compounds in order to improve indoor air quality and start to build a process to prevent environmental diseases. Method: From July 2010 to November 2010, TVOC concentration levels were measured and analyzed in 402 general households and 236 weak households, totalling 638 households. Residents were asked to fill out a survey on environmental disease. All resources were analyzed using SPSS 12.0 program. Result: In comparing the differences in concentration levels of volatile organic compounds for different types of households, including existing apartments and houses, the type of housing did not affect the concentration level of volatile organic compounds, but the relevance with skin trouble, diagnosed atopy, and atopy systems all had statistical similarities. Moreover, above-limit volatile organic compounds showed statistical relevance with amount of ventilation, time of construction, skin trouble, diagnosed atopy and atopy symptoms. Conclusion: The study concludes that as the time of construction recedes further into the past and as the amount of ventilation is higher, the exposure level to volatile organic compounds was lower and the group that were suffering from atopy symptoms had higher exposure to volatile organic compounds.

Herein, we report the manufacture of high-performance, ambipolar organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) and complementary-like electronic circuitry based on a blended, polymeric, semiconducting film. Relatively high and well-balanced electron and hole mobilities were achieved by incorporating a small amount of ionic additives. The equivalent P-channel and N-channel properties of the ambipolar OFETs enabled the manufacture of complementary-like inverter circuits with a near-ideal switching point, high gain, and good noise margins, via a simple blanket spin-coating process with no additional patterning of each active P-type and N-type semiconductor layer.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of oriental medical care on growth deficiency children. These cases were collected to investigate the effects of oriental medical care on growth deficiency children. So the cases were divided into 5 groups. The growth velocity was compared to a normal growth curve, and the results are as follows: 1. Oriental medical care was efficient when the epiphysial plates were not closed. 2. In female middle school beyond 1st grade students and in male middle school 3rd grade students who had almost closed epiphysial plates, the oriental medical care was not efficient and did not promote growth velocity. endothelium were used for the experiment using organ bath. 3. In the cases where the parent were very short, the effects of the oriental medical care to promote growth velocity was not efficient. 4. when we treated children of normal height, their growth velocity was over the normal growth curve. 5. In preschool aged children, oriental medical care was very efficient to promote children's growth. 6. The principle oriental medical care was to make balanced their body and digestive organs by using herb medicines that have the capability to promote the growth of the bones, and build strong muscles.

We studied sintering temperature to enhance the piezoelectric properties of $0.98(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.02Li(Sb_{0.17}Ta_{0.83})O_3$+0.01wt%ZnO (hereafter NKN-LST+ZnO) lead free piezoelectric ceramics. The synthesis and sintering method were the conventional solid state reaction method and sintering was executed at $1,080\sim1,120^{\circ}C$. We found that NKN-LST+ZnO ceramics at optimal sintering temperature showed the improved piezoelectric properties at the optimal sintering temperature. The NKN-LST+ZnO ceramics show good performance with piezoelectric constant $d_{33}$= 153 pC/N sintered at $1,090^{\circ}C$. The results reveal that NKN-LST+ZnO ceramics are promising candidate materials for lead-free piezoelectric application.

This study was carried out to compare the filtration effect of anaerobic digestion waste water by compost filtration bed. Three types of filtration systems were set for filtration test following to composition of bedding materials. Two filtration systems were filled with sawdust, rice-hull and wood-chip. And the other was filled with sawdust and rice-hull. Anaerobic digestion waste water was applied evenly on the surface of the filtration bed with spraying nozzle. The concentration of nitrogen, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), suspended solids (SS) of anaerobic digestion waste water was decreased by filtration treatment. The total nitrogen content was decreased from 1,313 mg/L to 1,090~1,293 mg/L and BOD concentration was decreased from 529.7 mg/L to 125~162.3 mg/L, respectively. The SS content was decreased from 69~79% by filtration process. In addition, the electrical conductivity (EC) was decreased from 10.22 ds/m to 7.91~8.31 ds/m.

The effects of rotational speed, impeller diameter, the angle of impeller tip and the pitched angle of impeller tip on the energy dissipation rate per unit volume(P/V) were investigated in the autoclave of 0.28 m³ with stirring unit. The energy dissipation rate per unit volume increased with increasing rotational speed, impeller diameter, the angle of impeller tip and the pitched angle of impeller tip. The mean particle diameter of PVC resin decreased with increasing the energy dissipation rate per unit volume, and the coefficient variance(CV) of PVC resin exhibited a minimum value at the energy dissipation rate per unit volume between 11.9 and 1.0 ㎾/m³. The energy dissipation rate per unit volume was correlated to the operating variables on the stirred tank. The dimensionless correlation equation of Reynolds number for the mean particle diameter of PVC was also presented based on the isotropic turbulent theory.

The effects of the inlet gas temperature(80-110℃), the gas velocity(0.32-0.67 m/s) and the feed rate of PVC resin(0.048-0.192 ㎏/hr) on the drying efficiency have been determined in a 0.083 m-ID×1.2 m-high stainless steel column. The drying efficiency in an inert medium fluidized bed increases with increasing the feed rate of PVC resin, but it decreases with increasing the inlet gas temperature and gas velocity. The drying efficiency increases with increasing the mass loading which is the mass ratio of inlet gas to the dried PVC resin from the bed. The drying efficiency of PVC resin in an inert medium fluidized bed has been correlated with the mass loading and Kossovich Number.

Purpose: To investigate identifiable peripheral retinal lesions in patients with myopia or high myopia and to evaluate the usefulness of ultra-widefield scanning laser ophthalmoscope in retina clinic settings. Methods: We evaluated fundus images of 149 patients acquired using an ultra-widefield scanning laser ophthalmoscope. Manual fundus examination by a retinal specialist was performed and sensitivity and specificity were calculated by comparing the findings of the two different fundus examination methods. Results: Variable peripheral retinal lesions were observed: lattice degeneration (24.1% in myopia, 36.6% in high myopia), white without pressure (17.7% in myopia, 20.7% in high myopia), retinal break (5.1% in myopia, 7.5% in high myopia) and retinal detachment (1.3% in myopia, 4.2% in high myopia). The incidence of lattice degeneration was significantly higher in myopic eyes than in highly myopic eyes (<EM>p</EM> = 0.043). The examination sensitivities were as follows: lattice degeneration (84.2% in myopia, 91.0% in high myopia), white without pressure (100.0% in both myopia and high myopia), retinal break (75.0% in myopia, 43.8% in high myopia) and retinal detachment (100.0% in myopia, 66.7% in high myopia). The examination specificities were 100.0% in all cases. Conclusions: Diagnostic sensitivities of ultra-widefield scanning laser ophthalmoscope were 90.8% in patients with myopia, 91.0% in patients with high myopia and 90.9% in totally myopic patients, which were relatively high values. Therefore, the ultra- widefield scanning laser ophthalmoscope is useful as auxiliary equipment for myopic patients in retina clinic settings. J Korean Ophthalmol Soc 2014;55(12):1814-1820
