Service Reliability Improvement in Manufacturing and Operating Systems

In this paper, we extend concepts from the failure modes and effects analysis of tangible and manufacturing systems to services. We use an event-based process model to facilitate service design and represent the relationships between functions and failures in a service. The objective of this research is to propose a method for determining a service operation strategy based on service reliability and processes using fuzzy failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and grey theory in manufacturing and operating systems. We define the failure mode of service as interaction ways that can be failed in a service delivery process. The fuzzy set theory is used to characterize service reliability based on linguistic terms during FMEA. Grey theory is employed to determine the degree of relation and ranking among risk factors that are represented as potential failure causes. To demonstrate implementation of the proposed method, we use a case study involving a typical automotive service operation.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have been developed to perform various military and civilian applications, such as reconnaissance, attack missions, surveillance of pipelines, and interplanetary exploration. The present research is motivated by the need to develop a fast adaptable UAV design technologies for agile, fuel efficient, and flexible structures that are capable of adapting and operating in any environments. The objective of this research is to develop adaptive design technologies by investigating current design methods and knowledge of deployable technologies in the area of engineering design and manufacturing. More specifically, this research seeks to identify one truss lattice with the optimal elastic performance for deployable UAV wing design according to the Hashin & Shtrikman theoretical bounds. We propose three lattice designs - 3D Kagome structure, 3D pyramidal structure and the hexagonal diamond structure. The proposed lattice structure designs are fabricated using an Objet 350 3D printer while the material chosen is a polypropylene-like photopolymer called Objet DurusWhite RGD430. Based on compression testing, the proposed inflatable wing design will combine the advantages of compliant mechanisms and deployable structures to maximize flexibilities of movement in UAV design and development.

Amputation neuroma always occurs at the distal ends of proximal segments of severed nerves and is characterized by a neural enmeshment in an overgrowth of the Schwannian sheath cells. The usual 1ocation of amputation neuroma is in amputed extremities. However, amputation neuroma can occur following cholecytectomy due to a rich choledochal nerve plexus. Amputation neuroma following cholecystectomy may produce biliary-tract pain, a symptom of postcholecystectomy syndrome and occasionally jaundice caused by biliary tract obstruction. Surgical excision of the neuroma may relieve the symptoms. Since the cholecystectomy including laparoscopic approach is such a common surgical procedure, it is important that the knowledge of these sequelae be known. The possibility of an amputation neuroma should be kept in mind when patients with postcholecystectomy symptoms are seen clinically after an exclusion of the usual causes of these symptoms. We had experienced a 62 year old woman who comp1ained of right upper quadrant pain and jaundice with a past history of a cholecystectomy due to multiple gall stones at l 1 years before admission, and she was diagnosed as an amputation neuroma in the hepatic duct bifurcation area by operation. 열산화법 및 PECVD 법에 의한 T$a_2O_5$ 유전 박막

열산화법과 PECVD법으로 p-type (100) Si 기판위에 T$a_2O_5$ 박막을 형성시킨 후 A1/T$a_2O_5$/p-Si capacitor를 제작하였다. 제작된 시편의 제반 물성은 XRD, AES, high frequency C-V analyzer, I-V meter, TEM 등을 사용하여 분석하였다. XRD 분석을 통해 T$a_2O_5$ 박막은 비정질임이 확인되었으며 65$0^{\circ}C$ 열처리의 경우에는 hexagonal $\delta$-T$a_2O_5$ 상으로 결정화가 일어남을 확인할 수 있었다. AES spectrum의 분석을 통해 T$a_2O_5$ 박막의 조성이 2:5의 stoichiometry에 근접해 있음이 관찰되었다. 열산화법에 의해 제작된 T$a_2O_5$는 산화온도 60$0^{\circ}C$의 조건에서 누설전류 5${ imes}10^{-6}$A/c$m^2와 유전상수 31.5로 가장 좋은 성질을 나타냈으며, PECVD로 제작한 T$a_2O_5$는 RF Power가 0.47W/c$m^2일 때 2.5${ imes}10^{-5}$A c$m^2and 24.0으로 가장 좋은 특성을 나타내었다. TEM 분석을 통해 제조된 박막과 계면을 관찰하였다. Thermal oxidation and plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition of tantalum oxide thin films on p-type (100) Si substrates were studied to examine the dielectric nature of T$a_2O_5$ as a Al/T$a_2O_5$/p-Si capacitor. Microstructure and dielectric properties of the capacitors were investigated by XRD, AES, high frequency C-V analyzer, I-V meter and TEM. XRD analysis showed that the structure of T$a_2O_5$ films were amorphous, but the films were crystallized to hexagonal $\delta$-T$a_2O_5$ by 65$0^{\circ}C$ thermal oxidation treatment. It was found that the stoichiometry of the films was more or less close to 2 : 5. Leakage current density and relative dielectric constant of thermal oxidation T$a_2O_5$ film at 60$0^{\circ}C$ was 5.0${ imes}10^{-6}$/A/c$m^2 and 31.5, respectively. In the case of PECVD T$a_2O_5$film deposited at 0.47W/c$m^2 they were 2.5${ imes}10^{-5}$/A/$ extrm{cm}^2$ and 24.0, respectively. The morphology of the films and interfaces were investigated by TEM.
