        Background and Objectives : The localization of platelet-derived growth factor-α receptor (PDGF-α R) was commonly restricted to oligodendrocyte progenitors during late embryonic and postnatal development. However, several studies recently demonstrated that mature neurons could also synthesize PDGF-α, Materials and Methods : In the present study, to analyze the distributional pattern of PDGF-αR during postnatal development of the canine cerebral cortex, we used immunohistochemistry on sections of canine brain tissue. Results : We found that neurons of various regions of cerebral cortex exhibited the immunoreactivity to PDGF-αR as early as postnatal day 0, and slightly decreased after postnatal day 14. Whereas neuronal PDGF-αR were maintained at all ages, the oligodendroglia-like expression of PDGF-αR could not be confirmed. Conclusion : The localization of PDGF-αR in immature and mature neurons supports the several roles of PDGF during development, protection and survival of neurons.

      • 熱分析에 의한 7075 알루미늄 합금의 二段時效에 關한 硏究

        Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used to establish the microstructural effects of various aging treatment on aluminum alloy 7075. DSC was used to characterize the matrix microstructure while hardness tester was used to characterize the mechanical properties. The aging treatments were in three categories: isochronal pre-aging, isothermal pre-aging and isochronal final aging treatments. The results obtained in this study are as follows: 1. The variation in pre-aging treatment did not have much of effect on the final microstructures but that changing the final aging temperature had significant effects on the final microstructures. 2. When the pre-aging treatment was carried out for 6hr, 24hr and 96hr at 90℃ or 120℃ before final aging for 8hr at 150℃, the dissolution of G.P. zones decreased regulary as the time and temperature of pre-aging increased. 3. For two-step treatments where the first aging treatment is 4hr at 95℃, increasing the final aging temperature from 150℃ to 155℃ or 160℃ results in a significant increase in the amount of η' in the microstructure.

        개항기 소설과 야담에 나타난 서구 인식

        이 연구는 개항이 시작된 19세기 중반부터 서양의 활판인쇄술을 받아들여 활판본으로 고소설과 야담집이 출판되기 시작하는 1910년대까지로 시기를 한정해서, 이 시기에 읽힌 서사물에 나타나는 서구에 대한 인식을 보는 것이다. 이 연구에서 분석의 대상으로 삼는 서사물은, 소설은 고소설과 신소설이고, 야담은 개항기 이전에 이미 알려진 야담과 개항기에 나온 단형서사물이다. 고소설과 전통 야담에는 서구에 대한 내용이 없으므로, 이들이 1910년대에 활판본으로 출간되면서 일어난 변이 가운데 서구에 대한 인식이 들어 있는 것을 찾아보았다. 그러나 이들 활판본 고소설과 야담은 전대의 것을 그대로 옮겨놓은 것이므로 야담과 고소설에서는 서구에 대한 인식을 찾아볼 수 없었다. 개항이라는 사회변화가 전통 서사물의 독자들에게는 아무런 영향을 미치지 못했다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 개항기의 단형 서사물과 신소설에는 서구에 관한 내용이 많이 나타나지만, 이들 서구에 관한 내용은 매우 피상적일뿐 아니라, 이야기의 진행에 필수적인 것이 아니다. 서구에 대한 내용이 자주 나타나는 것이 서구에 대해 긍정적인 시각을 드러내는 것 같지만, 자세히 살펴보면, 서구에 대한 언급은 통속적인 이야기의 흥미를 더하기 위한 보조 역할만을 한다. 개항기를 해명하는 데 있어서 이 시기에 읽힌 서사물은 중요한 자료가 될 것이다. 개항기 이전부터 서구에 대한 비판적 시각을 갖고 있는 한시는 말할 것도 없고 개항기의 시가에는 서구에 대한 비판적 인식이 일찍부터 제기되었는데, 왜 서시물에서는 서구에 대한 비판적 인식이 잘 나타나지 않는가 하는 문제도 앞으로 관심을 갖고 연구해야할 과제라고 생각한다. This research is about the perception of The West in Korean narrative literature from 1860's when Korea began to open its door to the West till 1910's when old novel and Yadam(野談) started to be published in movable type printing. The Narrative literature we were focusing on includes old novel(古小說) and new novel(新小說) in novel part and traditional Yadam and editorial(敍事的新聞論說) published during this period. As there is no clear mention on The West in old novel and traditional Yadam, we attempted to find some perception of The West in movable type printing in 1901's were only the copies of previous version, we could not find any of the sort. It seems that social changes had no influence upon traditional narrative literature readers in those days. We found that in editorial and new novel contain many details about The West. However, those details were not only superficial, but also not vital for threads of the stories. Details of The West were mentioned frequently in those days in affirmative manner, but as we looked through carefully on this subject we found that mentions on The West only played the role of increasing readers' interest.

      • Si 웨이퍼 내의 깊은 준위 분포 특성 파악에 관한 연구

        Distributions of deep levels are studied in the n-type Si wafer which are introduced during fabrication with e-beam deposition by using DLTS technique. Test is carried out on the Schottky diode. Metalization of the diode is done by e-beam deposition before of after electron irradiation. Deep levels of the defects are measured by using various metal such as Pd/Au, Au, Pd, Ti, Mo and Hf, and by changing the annealing temperature. It is approved that some defects are introduced in the neighbor of interface of silicon and metal by e-beam deposition, and main defect of them is E(0.42) level. In the resuts, two types of the deep level are observed ; one type is that is independent of electron irradiation, for example, E(0.42) level which is observed near the interface ; another type is that is observed only in the diode deposited by e-beam after electron irradiation, for example, E(0.18) level and so on which are observed farther from the interface. It may be the reason that interaction is presented between defects from Pd, at least, and prior defects.

        국내산 및 제초제 내성 콩(HS2906)의 일반성분, 무기질 및 지방산 조성

        Proximate analysis, mineral and fatty acid composition of three conventional domestic soybean cultivars and two imported ones including glyphosate-tolerant HS2906 were evaluated by AOAC method, ICP-AES and gas chromatography. There were several differences in the proximate analysis among three conventional domestic soybean cultivars ; higher crude fat in the cultivar Hwanggumkong, higher crude protein in Pungsankong, and higher carbohydrate and crude ash in Duyukong. The ranges of contents of proximate components of domestic cultivars were similar to the data previously reported. There were no significant differences in proximate analysis between conventional soybean WS82 and glyphosate-tolerant HS2906 ; 23.55~23.90% of crudefat, 34.22~35.55% of crude protein, 6.25~6.45% of crude ash, and 25.35~26.47% of carbohydrate. The mineral and fatty acid compositions of HS2906 were similar to those of conventional soybeans previously reported.

      • 모체 Thyroxine 투여가 태아알코올효과를 가진 흰쥐 대뇌겉질 및 해마에서 NPY함유 신경세포의 생후 발달에 미치는 영향

        Background and Objectives: Maternal alcohol abuse is considered to be one of the most prominent cause of neurobiological malformations in the postnatal and adult life of the offspring. In this study, we investigated the effects of maternal alcohol drinking on the postnatal development of NPY-containing neuron, and, the influence of thyroxine treatment on the cerebral cortex and hippocampus of pups of alcohol abused mother. Materials and Method: Time-pregnant rats were divided into three groups. Alcohol-fed group A received 35 calories of liquid alcohol diet daily from gestation day 6; control pair-fed group B was fed a liquid diet in dextrin replaced alcohol isocalorically: alcohol + T4 group C received 35 calories liquid alcohol diet and exogenous thyroxine subcutaneously. Results: Group C showed prominent NPY immunoreactivity in the cerebral cortex compared to group A and B at P7. In group C, NPY-containing neurons were widely distributed in the all layers of cerebral cortex after P14. Besides, numerical decrease of NPY-containing neuron as age increases was not found in group C. However, the decrease of NPY-containing neuron was clearly observed in group A compared to group C after P14. In hippocampus, group Band C were appeared similar patterns after P7. Additionally, in group C, NPY immunoreactivity was prominently appeared in CA2 and CA3 at P14 as compared to group B. Conclusions: The present results showed the increase of intensity and number of NPY-containing neurons in cerebral cortex and hippocampus of pups of exogenous T₄ supplemented alcohol-exposed dams as compared to control pair-fed and alcohol-exposed pups at P7. It presumably suggest that NPY-containing neurons might be regulated by the early postnatal growth stimulatory effect of the exogenously supplemented T₄. Therefore, the increase of NPY synthesis caused by maternal administration of exogenous thyroxine may ameliorate fetal alcohol effect, one of the ill effects as a result of the dysthyroid state following maternal alcohol abuse.

        Chronic neutrophilic leukemia(CNL) is a very rare myeloproliferative disease, characterized by sustained mature neutrophilic leukocytosis with granulocytic bone marrow infiltration, high NAP(neutrophilic alkaline phosphatase) score and absence of philadelphia chromosome, It is frequently accompanied by hepatosplenomegaly, elevated serum vitamin B_12 and uric acid level. For the diagnosis of CNL, the leukemoid reaction, especially secondary to neoplasia, infection and autoimmune diseases, should be excluded. Since Tuohy's first description in 1920, more than 50 cases fullfilling the above criteria have been reported worldwide, and 4 cases in Korea. Several authors have demonstrated the defect of intracellualr killing in the mature neutrophil and this finding correlates well with the very high incidence of fatal infection, The hemorrhagic diasthesis in CNL is caused by functional abnormality of the platelet. This disease has tendency to transform to blastic crisis and acute leukemia as in other myeloproliferative disease, but characteristically shows frequent coexistence with multiple myeloma. Until now , the therapeutic trials in CNL have been disappointing. Hydroxyrea and busulfan can control hyperleukocytosis. On the basis of functional defect in neutrophil, alpha-2b-interferon has been tried and several reports have demonstrated the clinical and functional effect of interferon on CNL. CNL is very rate hematologic disease and there are few report about general aspect of disorder. We report here a typical CNL case presenting with splenomegaly and leukocytosis with a review of the literature.

        The LCF properties for R=0 as tension-tension and R=-1 as tension-compression were examined in DA alloy718. While the hysteresis loops composed of ?ε_(t), ?ε_(p) and ?σ were figured with similaity in both of R=0 and R=-1, the loops of R=0 were continuely going down along the stress axis during cyclic fatigue progressing. It was caused by Bauschinger effect, which includes a tendancy for stress recovering as an amount of compression stress. The phenomena of cyclic softening in both of R=0 and R=1 seem to be caused by planar slip of dislocations, which was accompanied by shearing the γ'/γ" precipitates during the cyclic fatigue test.

      • Enhanced Bone Repair by Guided Osteoblast Recruitment Using Topographically Defined Implant

        <P>The rapid recruitment of osteoblasts in bone defects is an essential prerequisite for efficient bone repair. Conventionally, osteoblast recruitment to bone defects and subsequent bone repair has been achieved using growth factors. Here, we present a methodology that can guide the recruitment of osteoblasts to bone defects with topographically defined implants (TIs) for efficient in vivo bone repair. We compared circular TIs that had microgrooves in parallel or radial arrangements with nonpatterned implants for osteoblast migration and in vivo bone formation. In vitro, the microgrooves in the TIs enhanced both the migration and proliferation of osteoblasts. Especially, the microgrooves with radial arrangement demonstrated a much higher efficiency of osteoblast recruitment to the implants than did the other types of implants, which may be due to the efficient guidance of cell migration toward the cell-free area of the implants. The expression of the intracellular signaling molecules responsible for the cell migration was also upregulated in osteoblasts on the microgrooved TIs. In vivo, the TI with radially defined topography demonstrated much greater bone repair in mouse calvarial defect models than in the other types of implants. Taken together, these results indicate that implants with physical guidance can enhance tissue repair by rapid cell recruitment.</P>
