A Study on the Functionality of Halophytes from Coast area of Jeollanam-do

This study was undertaken to improve the perceived value of halophytes and contribute to the activity of the local economy by analyzing the antioxidant activity and mineral content of Suaeda japonica, Tetragonia tetragonoides, and Spergularia marina that grow wild on the mud flats and coastal areas. The total phenolic compound content found in each order is as follows: Suaeda japonica (3.674∼5.989 mg TAE/g dry wt.), Tetragonia tetragonoides (2.515∼4.471 mg TAE/g dry wt.), and Spergularia marina (2.450∼4.067 mg TAE/g dry wt.); DPPH radical scavenging and ABTS cation radical scavenging activities were also recorded in the same order. In the case of minerals, Iron(Fe) was relatively high in Suaeda japonica (960.1∼1,346.7 mg/kg), Manganese(Mn) in Tetragonia tetragonoides (197.1∼574.8 mg/kg), and Zinc(Zn) was relatively high in Spergularia marina (63.19∼216.56 mg/kg). It was confirmed that the mineral content of Suaeda japonica, Tetragonia tetragonoides, and Spergularia marina was significantly higher than that of Chinese cabbage, lettuce, leek, and spinach.

The purpose of this thesis is to develop the new technique for the analysis of seasonal time series by extending the vector sample auto-correlation function(VSACF), which was developed for ARMA modeling procedure. After the problem of VSACF for modeling seasonal time series are investigated, the adjacent variance is defined and used for decomposing the factor from the seasonal time series. The seasonal indices are calculated and the VSACF is applied to the transformed series. The automatic procedure for modeling seasonal time series suggested and applied to the real data, the international airline passenger travel.

In this paper, We propose the Job-Pair Comparison (JPC) rule to minimize total tardiness in a single machine. For this purpose we derive conditional expression to choose the desirable job sequence. We also prove the transitivity of JPC rule, to prevent cycle and to decrease the complexity of comparison.

Biomimetic Membranes for Engineered Sensors and Ion Channel Drug Screening

Membrane-bound ion channels play key roles in a wide range of physiological processes, including cardiac activity, neural processes, and maintenance of cellular equilibrium(l). Approximately 30% of the human genome codes for transmembrane proteins, and over 300 ion channel genes have been identified(2). Ion channel disorders have been implicated in epilepsy and cystic fibrosis, among many other diseases(3). As a result, ion channels are important drug targets, 15 of the top 100 selling drugs are ion channel modulators, with a combined market value of $15 billon(4). Unintended drug interactions with ion channels are also of critical importance (e.g. QT prolongation-associated cardiac arrhythmias resulting from interactions with hERG channels), which requires the screening of all drug candidates against certain ion channels(5). The typical time it takes to go from a drug compound to market is 15 years and can cost $1 billion(6). Without high quality screens, ill-suited drug candidates can be incorrectly passed to later phases. In some cases these drug candidates will make it to the market, only to have adverse side effects, disastrous for both the patient population and the drug company(7). Therefore the development of drug screening platforms which increase the throughput and efficacy of the early stages of drug discovery have the potential to significantly reduce costs and improve the quality of drugs entering the market.
간외담관 폐쇄에서의 초음파소견 : 담관벽 경계소실의 중요성 Significance of Decreased Echotexture of Bile Duct Wall-Interface

Ultrasound is very useful in evaluation of obstructive jaundice. We retrospectively evaluated the useful findings of ultrasonography in differentiating benign extrahepatic duct obstruction from malignant diseases. Among the 36 patients, 25 patients were benign extrahepatic obstruction and 11 patients were malignant obstruction. The shapes of extrahepatic dilatation were classified into fustiform, meniscus, and abrupt cut off by bowel gas. The diameter, length, and bile duct wall-interface were compared between benign and malignant groups and serum bilirubin and alkaline phosphatase were also compared between two groups retrospectively. The results were as follows. The most common form of extrahepatic dilatation was meniscus(10 of 26 patients, 38%) in benign obstruction, and fusiform(8 of 11 patients, 73%) in malignant obstruction. No significant difference was noted in diameter, length, serum bilirubin, and alkaline phosphatase between benign and malignant groups. Only one case showed decreased bile duct wall-interface in benign obstruction, but loss or decrease of bile duct wall-interface were 8 patients in malignant obstruction. The combined findings of fusiform dilatation and loss of bile duct wall-interface in ultrasonography will be helpful in differential diagnosis of malignant extrahepatic bile obstruction from benign conditions.

There are so many reasons why patient selects orthodontic and orthognathic treatment, but most of them want functional improvement. Sometimes patients are not satisfied though functionally improved. It is apparent that they want esthetic improvement too. Satisfaction and happiness are influenced by on self-evaluation, emotional state, expectation and so on. Clinicians have difficulty in estimating and treating the patients by psychological norm. Therefore, we study the relation between orthognathic surgery and aesthetics.

MPTP 독성물질이 도파민성 신경세포에 선택적으로 작용하여 산화성 손상에 의한 신경세포사를 일으키는 것을 이용하여 파킨슨병의 동물모델을 만들고, 이를 통해서 아폼토시스를 비롯한 포사의 기전에 대한 연구 및 너코틴의 신경세포 보호효과 여부를 판정하는 실험을 병행하고자 하였다. 파킨슨꾐의 동물모델을 MPTf 독성 물질을 이용하여 확립하였으며, MPTP(30mgag, i.p.)를 투여한 후 1, 2,3, 4, 5일째 흑질 조직을 채춰하여 tarm로 박걸하여 tyrosine hydroxylase 면역조직화학염색을 수행하여 cell countif우한 결과, control은 57.635ce11s, 1일째 친.OfDells,2일째 57.9±6cells,3일릴 없.3±죠ells, 4일째 49.0츠3cells, 5일째 39.4±Scells료 4, 3일째 뚜렷한 신경세포 수의 감소를 보였다. 신경세포사 기전 규명을 위한 아폼토시스 분걱에서는 벼PTP 투여 후 1, 2, 3, 4, 5일째 조직을 채취하여 Hoechst staining, TUNEL staining을 수곡하였는데 양성 반응을 보인 신경세포는 관찰되지 않아. 아폼토시스로 인한 세포사가 관찰되지 않았다. bIPTP 파킨슨병 동물모델에서 nicotine 보호효과 탐색에 관한 실험은 nicat푸e 0.2mgAg을 5일 퐁안 투여 후 리『fP(30mgag)를 CS7Bt/6 마은스에 복강 내주사로 nicotine과 병용 투여한 후 1, 2, 3, 4, 5일째 뇌를 적출하땄다. 신경세포사가 뚜렷이 관찰되기 시작하는 4, 5일째의 신경세포 수의 감소 정도를 20. 30% 정도 약화시키는 경향을 보였으나, nicotine 보호효과에 대한 추가 실헝이 현재 수행 중에 있다. The cause of Parkinson's disease (PD) is largely unknown. However, free radical toxicit? may plaf a role ip. the degeneration of substantia nigra, which is the Hajorfocus of pathological damages in PD. Recently, a neuroprotective effect of nicotine in PD has been suggested. Therefore, the mechanism of neurodegenerafion and protective potential o( nicotine in PD were investigated in the experimental modeB of Pll using a neurotoxin, C57BL/6mice were administered with 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP, 30 mg/kg,j.p.). The degree of neurodegenerafion was determined by immunohistochemical stainiHB oftyrosine hydroxylase (TH). TH-positive cells on nigral sections were found 56.0 ±4, 57.9 ±6,52.315ce11s, 49.0±3cells, and 39,4±Scells at days 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, respectively (controls : 57.6±Scells). Hoechst and TUNEL staining showed no evidence of apoptosis. The exandnation on themice co-adrunistered with nicotine(0.2mgAg) and MPTP(30mgag) revealed a tendency ofnicotine protective effects. At days 4 and 5, the degree of TH-positive cells was decreased by20-30%, In corclusiffn, the role of apoptosis was not evidenced in this MPTP modeB of PB.The possible proteccon by nicotine should be elucidated with further studies.
마이크로파 여기 플라즈마광 생성을 위한 도파관 시스템 설계에 관한 연구

In this paper, the plasma lighting system(PLS) excited by the commercial high power magnetron is developed. The design concepts are based on maximizing the huninous efficacy in conjunction with the miniaturization of waveguide system Furthermore the fine tuning is simplified by using only one stub, and the impedance matching is maximized by introducing the tapering technique. The experimental results show that the luminous efficacy can be dramatically improved by the proposed design method.
