        Near-Infrared Spectral Characteristics in Presence of Sun Glint Using CASI-1500 Data in Shallow Waters

        Sun glint correction methods of hyperspectral data that have been developed so far have not considered the various situations and are often adequate for only certain conditions. Also there is an inaccurate assumption that the signal in NIR wavelength is zero. Therefore, this study attempts to analyze the NIR spectral properties of sun glint effect in coastal waters. For the analysis, CASI-1500 airborne hyperspectral data, bathymetry data and in-situ data obtained at coastal area near Sin-Cheon, Jeju Island, South Korea were used. The spectral characteristics of radiance and reflectance at the five NIR wavelengths (744 nm, 758 nm, 772 nm, 786 nm, and 801 nm) are analyzed by using various statistics, spatial and spectral variation of sun-glinted area under conditions of the bottom types of benthos, barren rocks and sand with similar water depth. Through the quantitative analysis, we found that the relation of water depth or bottom type with sun glint is relatively less which is a similar result with the previous studies. However the sun glint are distributed similarly with the patterns of the direction of wave propagation. It is confirmed that the areas with changed direction of wave propagation were not affected by the sun glint. The spatial and spectral variations of radiance and reflectance are mainly caused by the effect of sun glint and waves. The radiance or reflectance of more sun-glinted areas are increased approximately 1.5 times and the standard deviations are also increased three times compared to the less sun glinted areas. Through this study, the further studies of sun glint correction method in coastal water using the patterns of wave propagation and diffraction will be placed.

        Elderly kidney transplant recipients have favorable outcomes but increased infection-related mortality

        Background: The number of elderly patients with end-stage kidney disease has been increasing, but the outcomes of kidney transplants (KT) remain poorly understood in elderly patients. Therefore, we evaluated the clinical outcomes of elderly KT recipients and analyzed the impact of elderly donors. Methods: This retrospective cohort study included patients who underwent KT between 2000 and 2019. KT recipients were divided into four groups according to a combination of recipient and donor age (≥60 or <60 years); elderly recipients: old-to-old (n = 46) and young-to-old (n = 83); young recipients: old-to-young (n = 98) and young-to-young (n = 796). We compared the risks of mortality, graft failure, and acute rejection between groups using Cox regression analysis. Results: The incidence of delayed graft function, graft failure, and acute rejection was not different among groups. Annual mean tacrolimus trough level was not lower in elderly recipients than young recipients during 10-year follow-up. Mortality was significantly higher in elderly recipients (p = 0.001), particularly infection-related mortality (p < 0.001). In multivariable Cox regression analysis, old-toold and young-to-old groups had increased risk of mortality (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR], 2.89; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.14– 7.32; p = 0.03; aHR, 3.06; 95% CI, 1.51–6.20; p = 0.002). However, graft failure and acute rejection risks were not increased in elderly recipients. Conclusion: In elderly recipients, graft survival and acute rejection-free survival were not inferior to those of young recipients. However, mortality, especially risk of infection-related death, was increased in elderly recipients. Thus, low immunosuppression intensity might help decrease mortality in elderly recipients.

        Signalment: An 8-month-old female Alaskan malamute was presented for progressive cluster seizure disorder. Results: There were no abnormalities on neurological examination, survey radiographs, or blood analysis. Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and computed tomography revealed extension of the olfactory bulb and frontal lobe into the nasal cavity. They also confirmed abnormal anatomy of the nasal turbinates within the rostral part of the nasal cavity and the absence of a cribriform plate. On T2-weighted and fluid-attenuated inversion recovery images, the herniated brain showed heterogeneous and hyperintense signals consistent with intraparenchymal edema. Transverse MR images showed brain herniation into the right frontal cavity and an asymmetrical lateral ventricle because of a left midline shift. On contrast-enhanced MR images, the protruding brain parenchyma was mildly enhanced. Ethmoidal encephalocele was suspected as the final diagnosis. Despite symptomatic treatment, the dog continued to exhibit seizures and was euthanized. Clinical relevance: Ethmoidal encephalocele is a rare disease in dogs. However, it could be considered as a cause of seizure in young dogs.

        집단적 치유와 제의로서 북한 영화 : <자강도 사람들>을 중심으로

        The purpose of ?Reading North Korean Film as Collective Treatment and Suggestion?is to illuminate that the film <People of Jagang-do> was produced for collective treatment and as a national occasion. <People of Jagang-do> was produced by Joseon Arts Movie Studio in 2000, and released in 2001. In May of 2001, it was broadcasted through the Joseon Central TV. <People of Jagang-do> is a movie that pictures the construction process of a power plant in Jagang-do during the period of the ``Arduous March`` during the mid-1990s. The significance of this movie is that it directly issued the theme of the ``Arduous March``. Among North Korean art and literature, there are not many works handling the theme of the ``Arduous March``. The crisis during the mid-1990s was a collective experience that influenced all of North Korea. Food crisis, resource crisis, and foreign currency crisis resulted in tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of death. Likewise, in the movie, the problems that the people of Jagang-do had to face during the period of the ``Arudous March`` are explicitly revealed. Chung Man-ho, who died while wandering around snow-covered fields to find food, is a symbolic representation of the <People of Jagang-do>. In North Korean movies, death is commonly portrayed as devoted sacrifice for their leader or the social system. In North Korean films, there are hardly any scenes with people dying in snow-covered fields in the process of searching for food. Hazardous environment such as a snow storm would be perceived as a symbolic hardship that needs to be overcome. This implies that the adversity North Korea had to go through during the ``Arduous March`` was tormenting. Not only Chung Man-ho but also the features of Lee Sun-hee, the wife of the power plant construction brigade commander Kang Ho-seong, who had to die of cancer with the lack of medication; and young female workers, who had to make sure the workers of the power plant excavation construction each received 40 seeds of corn, are a realistic confession of the ``Arduous March``. What could be the motives of North Korea to produce and broadcast this film, considering that art activity is usually allowed only under the absolute influence and control of the government. In this paper, it is analyzed as a process for restoration of the self-narrative epic of North Korean social system under the pretext of collective treatment. As the ``Arduous March`` was named by the North Korean authorities, there was a need to form a collective cultural consciousness signify- ing the end of the ``Arduous March``. The goal of building a strong and prosperous nation, increasingly emphasized since 2000, could not be persuasive without finding the exit to the ``Arduous March``. Thus, there was a need for a cultural act to announce the complete end of the ``Arduous March``. A collective treatment process to confirm the escape from collective trauma of the ``Arduous March`` was necessary. By suggesting the causes of the ``Arduous March`` and showing the process of winning as the result, it is to announce that they have officially overcome the collective trauma of the ``Arudous March``. This process was not a critical reconstruction process of memory. It was a reconstruction process of collective memory influenced under the intervention of the North Korean social system. The ``reconstruction of collective memory`` regarding the ``Arduous March`` was achieved through the movie. Although it was disturbing to reveal, the passing of the ``Arduous March`` had to be proclaimed, and the cultural and ritual announcement to mark the end of the ``Arduous March`` happened to be precisely the <People of Jagang-do>.

        We have used Visual Image Tracing(VIT) strain measurement system coupled with a micro tensile testing unit to test thickness and microstructure dependent mechanical behavior of Au film. The advantage using this method is to monitor the real time images of specimen during the test in order to determine its Young’s modulus, yield strength and tensile strength. 0.5, 1 and 2 ㎛ thick films were deposited by sputtering system. Free standing films were prepared through lithography and etching processes. Au films were annealed at 300℃ and 350℃ to achieve microstructure evolution and Focus ion beam (FIB SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were employed to characterize grain sizes of films. Thickness and grain sizes dependent mechanical behavior such as stress-strain curve, Young’s modulus and yield strength of Au thin film will be presented.

        A 10 years old, intact male, Maltese dog with clinical signs of labored respiration, exercise intolerance and increasing of coughing was referred to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Chungnam National University. Physical examination revealed tachycardia, panting and mild cyanosis. This case was diagnosed as mitral valve insufficiency by clinical signs, ascultation, blood chemistry, radiography and electrocardiography. This dog was treated with ACE inhibitor (enalapril), diuretics (furosemide) and bronchodilator (aminophylline) for 14 days. After treatment, clnical signs were disappeared and also this dog was needed to be continuous monitoring and sodium restricted diet.

The aims of the study is to establish the theoretical basis of information classification systems needed in the total building context, to investigate into related existing systems and to propose an information classification system suitable with the domestic building industry.

        팜유와 대두유가 유과 바탕의 품질과 저장성에 미치는 영향

        The shelf0life of Yugwa(Busuge)is very short because of the low oxidative stability of soybean oil which is conventionally used as the frying oil of Yugwa base with porous structures. To identify the possibility of replacing soybean oil with palm oil whose oxidative stability is high. POV(peroxide value). AV(acid value), colorness(L, a and b), hardness and sensory characteristics during storage of the Yugwa base fried with the soybean oil and palm oil stored in the anaerobic packaging or the aerobic packaging at 10 and 30℃ for 75 days were measured. POV and AV of the Yugwa base fried with palm oil were significantly lower than those of Yugwa fried with the soybean oil. Hardness and colorness were not different each other and, sensory evaluation was slightly higher than that fried with soybean oil. Lipid absorption amount was not significantly different between the Yugwa base fried with palm oil and the one fried with soybean oil.

        금 합금 보철물의 교합면 삭제로 인한 임플란트-골 계면으로의 열전달에 관한 연구

        연구 목적: 임플란트-골 계면에서 발생하는 과도한 열은 골유착을 저해하여 임플란트의 실패를 유발한다. 이에 이번 연구에서는 임플란트 금 합금 보철물의 교합면 삭제시 임플란트-골 계면으로의 열전달 양상과 냉각 방식의 효율성을 알아 보고자 하였다. 연구 재료 및 방법: 온도 감지 장치 제작을 위하여 Internal cone 연결형태의 임플란트에 16개의K형 열전대를 부착하여 아크릴릭 레진에 포매하였다. 치과용 금 합금과 주조용 abutment를 사용하여 교합면에 3개의 요철을 가지는 시편을 10개 제작하였고, 연결 나사를 이용하여 임플란트와 연결한 뒤 온도 감지 장치를 37℃로 유지되는 수조에 위치시켰다. 저속 핸드피스와 green stone bur를 이용하여 30초 동안 보철물의 요철을 삭제하였는데, 무냉각군, 공기 냉각 군, 물 분사 냉각 군으로 나누어 요철을 삭제하였다. 보철물이 삭제 되는 동안 임플란트의 부위별로 온도가 0.05초 간격으로 기록되었고, 삭제를 멈춘 뒤에도 무 냉각 군의 경우 임계 온도인 47℃ 이하로 온도가 하강할 때까지, 공기 냉각군과 물 분사 냉각군의 경우 삭제 중단 후 30초 동안 추가로 온도를 기록하였다. 냉각 방식에 따른 임플란트-골 계면의 온도를 알아보고, 임플란트의 부위별 온도변화의 유의차를 알아보기 위하여 one-way ANOVA를 실시하였고, Turkey HSD 이용하여 95% 유의수준에서 사후 검증하였다. 결과: 무 냉각 군은 임플란트-골 계면의 온도가 47℃ 이상으로 상승하였으며, 임플란트의 경부에서 유의하게 높은 열이 측정되었다(P>.05). 공기냉각군과 물분사 냉각군은 임플란트-골 계면의 온도가 47℃ 이하로 유지되었다. 무 냉각 군에서 임플란트 경부의 온도가 47℃에 도달되는 데는 약 10.8 ± 1.5초가 소요되었다. 공기 냉각 군과 물 분사 냉각 군 사이에서는 임플란트-골 계면 온도의 유의차가 없었다(P>.05) 결론: 이상의 결과로부터 임플란트 금 합금 보철물의 교합면 삭제 시, 임플란트 주위 조직에 위해를 가할 수 있는 임계 온도 이상의 열이 발생했음을 알 수 있었으며, 냉각방식은 공기 냉각과 물 분사 냉각 모두 효과적이라고 생각된다. PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to analyze temperature change along the implant-bone interface induced by grinding the occlusal surface of implant gold prosthesis and to compare the temperature generated by grinding of prosthesis with different cooling methods. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The experimental gold prostheses were fabricated with dental gold alloy and castable abutment. The prostheses had 3 cylindrical protrusions on the occlusal surface with 1mm in height. Temperature was measured using 16 thermocouple wires attached to the implant fixture surface and the fixture was embedded in an acrylic resin block inside the 37℃ water bath. Cylinders were grinded for a period of 30 second with a low-speed handpiece with green stone point. One cylindrical protrusion was grinded without cooling, the second one was grinded with air blow, and the third one was grinded with water-spray. RESULTS. The mean maximum temperature was measured more than 47℃ of the implant and the maximum temperature was measured at the cervical portion of the implant in the group without cooling. There was statistically significant difference between the group without cooling and the groups with cooling (P<.05). However, there was no significant difference at all portion of implant in the groups with cooling (P>.05). CONCLUSION. The results of this study support that the grinding of implant gold prosthesis without cooling may damage the peri-implant tissue. The continuous use of air blow and water-spray adjacent to prosthesis during the grinding of implant gold prosthesis may prove to be beneficial for cooling of the implant.
